Though this project was never supposed to be a standalone arena simulator, the constant lack of resources we were facing didn't let us do anything else. And even now, when the game is more polished than ever, it's not appealing enough for new players, while old players simply get tired of playing against each other. The game needs drastic changes, and we're going to make them. Servers are closing today, and we're starting a big rework. Zeal will be a PvP-focused MMORPG without open world, something between Albion Online, Warframe, and even Escape From Tarkov to some degree. Don't worry, neither gear nor other grindable bonuses will work in Arena, it will stay as it is. More information about this will be posted closer to the release. Meanwhile, our planned Patreon campaign is nerfed and won’t be used as the main monetization method. We have gathered a lot of valuable feedback during the past months and we are now confident about the future of Zeal. First of all, we're going to improve the combat — make it more dynamic, more about avoiding damage and landing skillshots, less about cooldowns and crowd control. Though the amount of active abilities will be decreased, they will become more impactful and their cooldowns will be reduced. Harder to land abilities will be more rewarding, and you won't need your CC cooldowns (like Flash Freeze) to deal some damage. Conquest — Conquest is now played as 10 teams of 2. — Conquest is now always available and starts automatically after maximum 10 minutes of waiting. Empty slots are filled with bots. — If you queue solo, you’ll get a bot who will follow and assist you — Bot teammates will pick up items only if they think you don’t need them. To force them to get an item, loot it and drop back to the ground. — Experience is now shared to all team members within 50 meters. — All NPCs now have more health and deal more damage. — Poisonous Spider’s poison now can be dispelled (as Poison). — Call Help now pulls up to 2 NPCs of the same type (was unlimited). — Last Stand now can be broken by defense breaking abilities. — Enrage is now instant and has a visual effect. Known issues — The conquest map is being reworked and is not finished yet. Some areas might look weird or empty. Also, NPCs are still placed randomly. Bugs — Points previously put into Swiftness are now available again. — Secondary resource is now correctly consumed when a cast is finished. — Wizard’s Energy Lash now correctly hits to the direction of the camera, not the direction of the character. — Now you can’t jump on small NPCs like crabs or spiders. Since this system alone already provides pretty deep customization, we’re reverting the number of baselines to 4 and reducing the mastery and prime limits by 1. Note that’s a development build and the work is still in progress, some spells are placeholders, others might be too strong or too weak, and, generally, the system is not final. It increases your movement speed by 30%, range of your melee attacks by 30% and their damage by 30%. — Steelwake damage increased from 270 to 400, Stamina cost increased from 15 to 25. With a 25% chance when healing an ally and with a 50% chance when hitting an enemy with Piercing Light its cooldown will be reset and your next Piercing Light deal 30% more damage and healing. — Benevolence now reduces the cooldowns of Healing Light and Purification by 10%. This bonus is doubled if used on allies. Cleric — New mastery: Visions of Purity. Makes your direct healing increase the target's Clarity by 5% for 5 seconds, stacking up to 5 times. — New mastery: Promised Retribution. Dealing direct damage has a 20% to deal extra 500 Holy damage to all enemies within 3 meters of the target and restore you 50 mana per each enemy hit. — New prime: Searing Light. Deals holy damage over time and extra fire damage every time the target moves for 6 seconds. — Sanctuary is now baseline. — Divine Prayer is now a prime. March UpdateMar 8, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsUnfortunate outcome of our Kickstarter campaign has hindered our capability of working on Zeal, the development has been considerably slower in comparison to our previous pace. While allocating our extremely limited resources and time for the campaign greatly slowed our progress during the last months, we will never stop our efforts towards making this game the most fun no-grind RPG around. We’re currently working on new content such as a brand new talent system, weapon system, in-game arena tournaments, new modes and new classes. We’re planning to launch a Patreon page where you can support the game every month in order to help us quicken the development and allow us to replace placeholders. Patreon page will be launched later this month (perhaps in April) as supporters will get early access to new content and many other rewards which will be announced later. Also, small update for the 0.4 patch will be released today.Early Conquest Mode will be available to play soon!Jan 9, 2019 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/33188525/6dfd42351fa4dd1b611bb66796b5cb815220baf1.png We have great news after a while, which is an early version of Conquest Mode with updated classes and mechanics The mode itself is like leveling a character in a PvP MMORPG, but in a session based fashion: — 20 players/teams will spawn on a big map full of creatures, bosses and hidden treasures and slay each other until there is only one team standing. — Starting from level 1 and with an empty inventory, players will fight their way through different zones while progressing in strength towards the main objective. A lot of improvements, reworks and new abilities/classes/customization options are also being added to the game. We hope to see you in game when new content hits the servers.
