PC Crossplay Update OUT NOW!Mar 22, 2024 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4329286/75272e95a6af555ece5ba4d2a3a027d043322f9f.jpg Howdy folks, We're thrilled to announce that Wreckfest now supports PC multiplayer crossplay. For the first time ever, you can join the same lobbies with your comrades across Steam, GOG, and Epic Game Store platforms, uniting the playerbase. So from now on, it doesn't matter where you bought the game – you can now smash and crash your way to victory with all your friends and foes! And wait, there's more. We're admittedly big fans of crashing here, but cars and of course not servers, so we've also gone and given the engine under the hood a fresh change of online oil in an effort to further improve server stability and make sure the servers can handle all the heat while you embark on your wrecking rampage on all platforms. Update now and teach your buddies from GOG and Epic Store how to bend metal!Yay, Steam's most realistic racing sim's finally getting actual rain, and utter online chaos may well followFeb 14, 2024 - VG247While it’s so good at simulating driving cars very fast that it actually stood in for the real thing during the Covid-19 pandemic, subscription-based racing game iRacing has long lacked a key thing that regularly affects real races - rain. Thankfully that’s not going to be a thing for much longer, and players are both excited and mildly anxious. Yes, a racing sim so realistic that it’s used for competitive Esports, and is regularly played by real drivers including actual current F1 world champion Max Verstappen, has not had any rain in it since it came out. Soon, though, that’s going to change via a big build update that’ll make a lot of players wet and also deliver some precipitation. “The Tempest weather system is ready for release and you will be racing in the rain in March,” reads iRacing’s latest development update post, which is very, very chunky and full of things. To be fair, a decent amount of it is spent bigging up the rain, with iRacing Senior Vice President and Executive Producer Greg Hill writing: “This is rain done the iRacing way; a true-to-life dynamic simulation of the multitude of physical and environmental factors experienced in racing in the rain, and how water interacts with both the racetrack and the tires of your race car.” Read more Minor UpdateJan 20, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone, It came to our attention that the server CPU usage was increased after the previous update and after some investigation we identified the culprit - luckily it turned out to be something that was quick enough to address so we decided to release a hotfix right away so that weekend events could be saved. In addition to that aforemention fix, the server ping display in the server browser should be more reliable now. Thanks for the feedback and happy wrecking!Minor updateJan 18, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHowdy folks, Another year, another rocking Wreckfest update! This admittedly minor update will resolve a number of online related issues we've become aware of as well as make it possible to bind keyboard keys again. The full list of issues addressed is as follows: - It's possible to bind keyboard keys again. - Server ping is now shown correctly in the server browser. - Steam Friends > Recently Played With is now working correctly. - On Steam Deck, game no longer frequently crashes when entering Quick Match. - OpenSSL was updated to resolve vulnerability in the previous version. We hope that the New Year is off to a fine start for everyone!Happy Holidays from Bugbear!Dec 23, 2022 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/4329286/793ab6f2b628309ee6602c7ef66ffda047d29650.png Ho ho ho, wreckers and racers! It's been a while but today we're releasing a minor update today that paves way for some exciting things. In the not-so-distant future, everyone who owns any of the PC versions of Wreckfest available at different platforms such as Steam, Epic, Xbox Game Pass and GOG will be able to join the same multiplayer servers and play online together! That time is not just yet, but today we're releasing an update that contains the technical, behind-the-scenes work that will make it possible soon. This work naturally affects multiplayer functionality, and while we don't expect any issues please don't hesitate to let us know in case you spot any oddities. In other news, this update also resolves the issue in which leaderboards often failed to load correctly after launching the game. From now on, they should be always displayed correctly so that's great news for everyone. And finally, we identified and addressed a rare case in which using a custom steering wheel controller (that is, a device not from the big three of Logitech, Thrustmaster or Fanatec) might have made the game crash so that should be now a thing of past too. Should you run into any trouble, please do not hesitate to let us know. We're very grateful and appreciative of anyone who is still playing our game after all this time so just so that you know: a big thumbs-up to you!Introducing Solo TournamentSep 6, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAll the best tournament challenges are back! In case you're still missing some of the goodies from the tournament shop or just started playing, we have some great news to you: to give more players chance a chance to earn tournament points and reap the rewards, we are retiring the leaderboard based challenges and replacing them with solo challenges that will challenge you to best scores set by us. What this means in practice is that from now on you can complete tournament challenges at your own pace and earn fame to empty the tournament shop. And it's now easier too to score gold since we're pretty shoddy players so what's not to love? As usual, the challenges are rotated every day, and even the longest lasting ones rotate every two weeks, so if you want to maximize your rewards make sure to check back often. Good luck, happy wrecking and have fun!Wrecking Madness Tournament UpdateJul 5, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHIGHLIGHTS New tournament: Wrecking Madness New free reward bundle for Warwagon We're excited to announce the availability of a new tournament! This time we're taking you back to Wrecking Playground so it's time for Wrecking Madness! The monthly event challenges you to score points by wrecking your car, destroying objects and getting airtime, all without without worrying about getting wrecked since resetting the car will repair it instantly. The weeklies offer an entirely different challenge, being timed events in which you need to collect the special Bugbear coins littered around the level as quickly as possible. The tournament shop has been restocked with a rocking new Warwagon "Warrior" bundle containing many cool upgrades and an unique paint job. Additionally, this update will address a critical issue of the game crashing when quitting. RELEASE NOTES Game version PC: 1.289098 SYSTEM Game no longer hangs when quitting to desktop. And it's not only the tournament, but there's new free track too! As some of you might have already guessed, the name of the track is a homage to the ever-prolific modder Tor Ole Lerbæk who is perhaps better known in the community by his alter ego Very End, whose handiwork this gorgeous rallycross style track is for the most part. The track comes in two layouts, main and short, in both forward and reverse configurations. In keeping with the spirit of the new epic track, the tournament challenge is all about racing too. We're tasking you to chase the opponents using Roadslayer GT. You probably already know the drill: the better your position the more score you earn per each meter traveled, plus you get bonus score for each lap as long you keep up a good pace. The best racers (or those who already have enough fame points in the bank) can claim a new paint bundle for the Roadslayer GT from the tournament shop, and while at it, it's also worth checking out the new paint job for the Tristar that's another new addition in the tournament shop. This time around we're taking you back to Hillstreet, racing flat out through the sprawling downtown streets from checkpoint to checkpoint in a race-prepped Tristar. In the event, the better you do between each checkpoint the more time you save, but with each successive lap you're given less and less time and at the same time the taxi cabs do their best to block you from taking the perfect line. How far can you make it? As for the weekly events, this time around they are a mix of neck-to-neck demolition racing as well as white-knuckle time trials with Rocket RX, so no matter which style is right up your ante there's something sure to strike the right chord with you. Make sure to participate since the tournament shop has been loaded with a new sweet Tristar bundle featured in the monthly event as well as another one for Speeddemon. Naturally, this release also contains a number of enhancements and bug fixes, mainly for the new cup mode we rolled out in the previous major update. Happy New Year to everyone and good luck!Banger Brawl Tournament UpdateDec 7, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHIGHLIGHTS New tournament: Banger Brawl New tournament reward bundles Multiplayer Cup Mode and spectator slots We're thrilled to announce the availability of a new tournament! After storming the twisting woodland roads during the Rally Trophy tournament last month, it's time for some more crashing action and what would fit the bill better than banger racing? For the next month we're going to crashing our way onto leaderboards in banger and stock car racing themed events, and the shop has been restocked with new Dominator banger racing paint job as well as a toxic Big Rig paint. In other news, we have some exciting additions for the multiplayer and especially to those wanting to host their own events: spectator slots and cup mode! SPECTATOR SLOTS It's now possible for the Host, Admin or Moderator to set any player (or themselves) as a spectator using the lobby context menu, server chat command or the dedicated server console. Any player set as a spectator will not participate in the event but instead will be free to use the photo mode to spectate and direct the event as well as of course stream it. The spectator role will be maintained from event to event until revoked. The new related server commands are as follows: /spectateon Set the given player id as a spectator. /spectateoff Set the given player id not as a spectator. CUP MODE In Cup Mode, players will be awarded points for any event that they participate in, making it easier to run your own online cups with multiple events. The points are shown in the lobby together with the number of events they player has participated in, and the players are sorted according to the points. Note that the sorting order does not change the player id which is used for server commands. Please be aware that points will be reset whenever the server is shut down or restarted, or the player drops out of the server. However, points will be maintained when cup mode is disabled as long as they are not reset manually or the server restarted, so you can host for example practice sessions or qualification rounds between ranked events. The points per finishing position are hardcoded, with the top three receiving 30, 27 and 25 points respectively and the rest 20...1 points. To enable cup mode, you can either set "cup_mode=1" in the server config, or use the corresponding server command. In total, there are a few new server commands related to Cup Mode: /cupon Enable Cup Mode. /cupoff Disable Cup Mode. /cupreset Reset points of all players. /cupresetfor Reset points of the given player id. /cuppointsadjust Increase or decrease points of the given player id by amount.
