On May 7, from 08:00 to 12:00 UTC, the servers will undergo maintenance to deploy Update 2.1.33 New Aircraft https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/imagesforarticles/releasewipe/prize_premium_plane_684x112.jpg Update 2.1.33 will introduce a brand-new reward aircraft—Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, the American Tier VII multirole fighter. Designed after the Battle of Midway, this fighter's primary improvements over its predecessor and "big brother", the F6F Hellcat, were an increased rate of climb and better maneuverability. The Bearcat was powered by the same Pratt & Whitney R-2800, the most powerful American piston engine at the time, yet significantly smaller and lighter. As a result, it best functioned as an interceptor, capable of a quick takeoff, climb to altitude, and engagement. With the first production aircraft delivered to the Navy in 1945, the Bearcat didn't see combat in World War II. However, it did serve as the primary fighter for the US Navy and Marines until it was finally surpassed by the early jet-powered fighters—the Grumman F9F Panthers, in particular. The late-model Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat is an American Tier VII multirole fighter that boasts significantly better maneuverability and rate of climb than its counterparts from the Corsair family. A small frame makes this aircraft harder to hit, while its four 20-mm autocannons are more than enough to fight back enemies in the sky. And with a variable outboard armament, offering a choice between a 1,000-pound bomb or a rack of HVAR rockets, this aircraft does pack a punch! To earn the Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, you'll need to participate in an upcoming event. New Event https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/image/684-112_02_10_01.jpg Various graphical assets for the upcoming event were added. Messerschmitt Me 410 B-2 Hornisse: Start Your Engines!Mar 12, 2025 - Community Announcementshttps://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/image/me-410-b2_684x243.png Pilots! From March 13 at 11:20 UTC to April 10 at 11:20 UTC, a chain of 25 missions awaits you. For their completion, you'll receive a new aircraft— the German Messerschmitt Me 410 B-2 Hornisse Tier VI heavy fighter—and other valuable rewards! This modification of the venerable Messerschmitt Me 410 was one of the most iconic, sporting an enormous 50-millimeter Rheinmetall BK-5 autocannon in the nose, assisted by two hull-mounted 30-mm autocannons and four rockets. This loadout will allow the Me 410 B-2 to take out most enemies in one fell swoop, but it requires significant gunnery skill. Using its immense firepower successfully will call for carefully planned approaches on targets but will be highly rewarding when executed properly. Note: You may skip missions of the marathon by purchasing certificates in the Premium Shop. Only Tier IV–X aircraft can take part in the event. You can find more details about the chain of missions on our official portal! Keep completing marathon missions on your favorite warbirds to grab all the event's rewards! Update 2.1.32Mar 11, 2025 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/33592511/25bcee0bf794ad45c9afa5d21d5de6cdcd517716.jpg Pilots! On March 12, from 08:00 to 12:00 UTC, the servers will undergo maintenance to deploy Update 2.1.32. New Aircraft https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/imagesforarticles/releasewipe/prize_premium_plane_684x112.jpg Update 2.1.32 will introduce a brand-new reward aircraft—Avro Lancaster B Mk. III, the British Tier VI bomber. The Avro Lancaster heavy bomber was a legendary Allied aircraft in the European theater of World War II, responsible for numerous iconic operations and audacious raids against German industry. Lancasters helped sink battleship Tirpitz in the fjords of Norway and gained eternal glory in Operation Chastise, when 19 of these specially modified warbirds from the Royal Air Force's Number 617 Squadron sneaked into the Ruhr Valley and successfully damaged several river dams in the region. The Lancaster B Mk. III in World of Warplanes is a British Tier VI bomber that brings immense demolishing power to the battlefield. Slow and lumbering, this flying giant won't be the first to reach the enemy base, but when it does, it will unleash its fifteen 500 lb (227 kg) bombs in volleys that can turn even the strongest opponents into rubble. Though lacking in speed, this aircraft is in no way defenseless. Its four defensive turrets cover all directions, with twin-mounted Browning Mk II machine guns on the nose, dorsal, and ventral turrets, along with four more on the rear turret. To earn this aircraft, you'll need to participate in an upcoming game event. New Unique Pilots https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/image/pilots_112.png Two new unique pilots were added for the P-38J Lightning and Kawasaki Ki-102. More details on their skills and how they can be earned will be revealed at a later date. On November 13, from 08:00 to 12:00 UTC, the servers will undergo maintenance to deploy Update 2.1.30. New Aircraft https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/imagesforarticles/releasewipe/prize_premium_plane_684x112.jpg Update 2.1.30 introduces a brand-new reward aircraft–the American Tier VIII bomber Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster. The Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster was an independent proposal by the manufacturer to design a long-range heavy bomber with a range similar to the Boeing B-29 Superfortress. This was achieved by placing two engines inside the fuselage and installing a pair of contra-rotating propellers in the tail in a pusher configuration. This design drastically reduced aerodynamic drag, which resulted in high speed, good altitude performance, and extended operational range. Two prototypes of the XB-42 were built and tested extensively, but the advent of the jet era caused the USAAF to put the project aside. In World of Warplanes, the Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster is a Tier VIII bomber with good speed and altitude characteristics, carrying a large bomb load of twelve 500-pound bombs, released in three salvos. Its reasonably quick bomb reload time allows the XB-42 to engage in tactical bombing, traversing between targets and arriving at them with a full rack. A good rate of climb and a high operational ceiling offer safety from most hunters. All this provides for a more dynamic and engaged bomber gameplay than most players are used to. To earn this aircraft, you'll need to participate in an upcoming game event. New Event https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/image/ny2024_banner_112.png Added various graphical assets for the upcoming game event. On September 11, from 08:00 to 12:00 UTC, the servers will undergo maintenance to deploy Update 2.1.29. New Aircraft https://worldofwarplanes.eu/dcont/fb/imagesforarticles/releasewipe/prize_premium_plane_684x112.jpg Update 2.1.29 introduces a brand-new reward aircraft–the Italian Tier VII heavy fighter Savoia-Marchetti SM.91. Designed in 1942 for the Regia Aeronautica Italiana, this heavy fighter was one of the most advanced at the time. It featured an all-metal fuselage and wings that provided maximum rigidity for better performance. The aircraft was powered by two ubiquitous Daimler-Benz DB 605 engines (produced by Fiat under license). The main strength of its design was the armament: the SM.91 boasted five 20 mm MG 151/20 autocannons, three mounted in the nose cowling and two more—near the wing roots. The aircraft's defensive capability was provided by a small turret with another MG 151. Two prototypes were produced and undergoing testing until they were passed into German possession in 1943 and eventually lost. In World of Warplanes, Savoia-Marchetti SM.91 is a Tier VII Italian heavy fighter (belonging to the European meta-nation). The SM.91 is not the fastest or most maneuverable of its peers, but it has great altitude characteristics. The autocannon battery combines a good rate of fire and solid damage, is relatively easy to aim, and provides a convenient firing pattern between accurate nose-mounted cannons and the wider firing line of the wing-mounted ones. Overall, this makes it an excellent warplane for boom-and-zoom tactics and strafing runs. The SM.91 also carries a small bomb load that can be employed for pinpoint strikes on AA positions or smaller ground targets. To earn this aircraft, you'll need to participate in an upcoming game event. From August 2 at 11:20 UTC to August 30 at 11:20 UTC, a chain of 30 missions awaits you. For their completion, you'll receive a new aircraft— the Japanese Tier VII bomber Mitsubishi G4M2 Model 24—and other valuable rewards! A staple of the Imperial Japanese Navy's bomber operations, this was one of the most effective and widely used medium bombers of World War II. Virtually every battle in the Pacific saw participation from the G4M, which the U.S. pilots and soldiers had nicknamed Betty. The first models also carried more sinister nicknames from Japanese pilots, who called them the G4M Hamaki (cigar), and American counterparts, who referred to them as the Flying Lighter—both denoting their propensity to easily catch fire. The G4M2 model was improved significantly in terms of aircraft and crew survivability, including self-sealing fuel tanks, armor panels in crew compartments, and much stronger defensive armament. Mitsubishi G4M2 in World of Warplanes is a slow but rather durable bomber with heavy defensive armament, including two 20 mm autocannons that cover the upper and aft hemispheres. The G4M2's bomb load consists of four 250 kg bombs with a relatively quick reload period, so it doesn't need to disengage from its main activity for long periods of time. Don't have time to complete all the missions? Just visit the Premium Shop and purchase certificates to speed up the completion of the in-game event!
