I just pushed a new version that fixes a rare issue when playing against the WikiBot where it couldn't quite come to a decision and would take forever on its turn. Now it'll be put on the spot and have to decide in time! 🤖 In other news, there is a "Games Made In Germany" event going on right now. Check it out to find lots of cool indie games from Germany! In the case of WikiArena, it even managed to take the country to the top of the currently active player count (the game is usually much stronger in Japan and the US) and got German Twitch veteran MythosOfGaming to stream it (YouTube VOD here). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/1e3289d5f76d663a867cdbc9223d0e73294e0f16.png 🥨 Ein herzliches Willkommen an alle neuen Spieler aus Deutschland! I'm super excited to report that WikiArena is taking part in TurnBasedFest! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/5a1df9dcb95fc75a60d3ab40dceabfdc6d217dbd.png Check out the event page to discover tons of turn-based roguelikes, strategy games and creative indie titles! And most of them are on sale too! ːsteamhappyː Android Release In other news, WikiArena is also now available for Android phones via Google Play! The mobile version includes all single-player modes as well as the recently added local 1v1! So if you have been itching to let those Wikipedia articles battle it out on the go, take a peek! Thank you! I also want to give a shoutout to science teacher gone YouTuber Mr. Ahmed Gaming who achieved the rare feat of a perfect arena run (and in under 4 minutes too): Once again, a huge thank-you to creators who showcased the game but also to everyone in general who played it, talked about it or left a review. It means the world and makes a big difference in terms of motivation and getting noticed. Especially leaving reviews on your platform of choice is a huge help for a tiny indie labor of love like this. ❤️Steam Autumn Sale and a small updateNov 23, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHi! First things first, WikiArena is 10% off during Steam Autumn Sale! ːsteamhappyː {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/c4dfe8a665ba936db0e27ebac6ccba5df7ee9f47.png In other news, I just updated the demo with all bugfixes made since launch and released a small update to the full version with tweaks and fixes to the recently added Twitch integration and 1v1 mode! NEW: Chat vote percentages in “VS Twitch” mode are now displayed next to each answer and updated live. NEW: Chat votes in “VS Twitch” mode are now only counted once per user. Only the last vote entered per user counts each round. FIX: The “player 1” indicator at the bottom in 1v1 mode does not disappear anymore when duel results are being revealed. FIX: Any 1v1 and Twitch mode indicators are now properly hidden when those modes were active when you started the Daily Arena. And finally a shoutout to PumpyTudors, who has been streaming the game quite a bit on Twitch recently and just left this awesome review on top: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/518f57c0704a9238ae2d013a68bbf817cfe7cb7c.jpg For a tiny project like WikiArena, every single review, stream, player, viewer or even just telling a friend truly makes a big difference! And it also makes my day at the same time, so thank you all very much! Update: local 1v1 mode + 5 more languagesNov 7, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone! First of, thank you so much to anyone who played the game! It's difficult getting any sort of visibility for indie games these days, so I'm thrilled about every new player and very grateful for the positive reception so far! Keep those Steam reviews coming and tell your friends! For a tiny project like this any little bit really helps a ton! ːsteamhappyː Features: New game mode: local 1 VS 1 - challenge your friends to a Wiki duel! The mode is similar to the “VS WikiBot” mode but the “bot” answer in this case is controlled by the 2nd player (i.e. the 2nd guess click). There's also an flashing indicator showing whose turn it is. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/19dfd7f358f7be0a0a6aa18b767c592b16643e59.png Added 5 new Wikipedia languages (articles only) to choose from: Estonian, Hindi, Polish, Russian, Ukrainian. Let me know what other languages you’d like to see! Leaderboards for 5 different categories are now visible here: Leaderboards. Data has been recorded since launch day. Can you find yourself? ;) Fixes: In the “VS Twitch” mode, the chat-controlled bot will now pick a random answer if no votes came in for a round (previously it always chose “Q”). Fixed a crash bug that would occur when both articles had 0 views (shoutout to Paardhert who reported this one on the Steam forums). Hope you'll enjoy these new features! Also another reminder that I'm always keeping an eye on the Steam forums for any feedback or bug reports. Thank you for reading and, once again, for checking out my little game! WikiArena is here!Oct 25, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsI'm super excited to announce that WikiArena is OUT NOW! 🥳 Many thanks to those who had enough trust to jump in and are already playing! Of course I pretty much entirely depend on your help for anyone to notice the game in the first place, so please tell your friends about it, especially if they have a soft spot for weird roguelikes, trivia or tiny experimental solo dev endeavors like this one! And as usual: Leaving a review on Steam also goes a very, very long way! Every single one counts. You may also want to challenge your favorite streamers to a duel in the "Streamer vs. Twitch Chat" mode! Viewers can vote on their own answer via chat commands and play a "last one standing" against the hosting streamer. Finally, it goes without saying that if you encounter issues or have any feedback, please put it on the Steam forums! I'll keep an eye on anything that comes up for future updates! And now let those Wikipedia articles battle it out! 📰⚔️📰Demo available now for Steam Next Fest!Sep 29, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHi! I'm Fabian, the guy who decided to make this weird Wikipedia trivia roguelike game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42676736/2f6d30a7f51f459717db5c0bb54a32dfea91b2a4.gif Today I'm super excited to announce that WikiArena is taking part in Steam Next Fest next week and you can download the demo right now! Full release coming October 25th! The demo gives you full access to the game's roguelike-y arena mode (get 10 correct guesses before being wrong 3 times to win a run). The full version will be out on the 25th of October for $1.99, including Steam achievements and leaderboards and a bunch of additional game modes: ♾️ Endless: How many predictions can you get right before being wrong 3 times? 🤖 VS WikiBot: Play "last one standing" against a WikiBot that progressively gets better at playing the game the more you win. Can you beat WikiBot MK 25? 📅 Daily Arena: An arena run that's the same for all players each day. Do you think you can do better than your friends? I hope you have a lot of fun trying to read the internet's collective mind and pitting a (literally) never-ending supply of Wikipedia articles against one another in fierce arena duels! Thank you so much for reading this and for checking out my little game!
