Update 1.8.1Apr 17, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsWe've added localization to the game starting with French and Spanish. The game should automatically detect the appropriate language based on what you use in the OS. Update 1.7.7Jul 24, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsInventory and Valhalla focused update. We've reworked the UI in the inventory to make a simpler and more interesting experience. In the center we've added a graph that shows your current debt, original debt and payment amount per wave. The item comparisons have also gotten a static location in the UI with a simplified stat comparison table. The education and overall stats tabs have been combined into just one page that shows both. In Valhalla we've adjusted things to make for a more engaging battle to a high score. The multiplier now has a single timeout (time since last kill) that will reset the entire multiplier to 1x when it expires. Health drops have also been significantly reduced. Added are two bonuses to give you something other than mindless killing to think about; a full heal drop and a very powerful nova explosion. These are triggered by killing an increasing amount of enemies of a specific color. Update 1.7.6May 24, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWe've pushed a small update to the game that contains a few performance improvements and a couple bug fixes. Performance improvements: Picking up items faster Nebula and asteroid handling faster Nebula waves less GPU costly Change menu background to skybox Bug fixes / changes: Fixed crash reporting Prevent getting stuck in tutorial Added privacy notice Unknown Pleasures: About four to six great new Steam gamesApr 20, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunIt’s been a strange week here at the Pleasuredome. Once again, a bud of the Hivemind prepares to detach and spread in-jokes and sinister, fungaloid thoughts about user interfaces to a new, unsuspecting host. And I’d only just confirmed he’s real, too. Bye bye, Adam. Subvert from within, yeah? Still, on the plus side, I high fived Aby Wolf the other night. And now it’s time for Unknown Pleasures! Heavens. Shamelessly namedropping far more talented people we’ve briefly orbited this week: chasing rabbits, redirecting lasers, and justifying patricide. (more…) Update 1.7.5 - Release!Apr 4, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWe've released out of Early Access! NOTE: Updating to this version (1.7.5) loses all current progress. All of the core features for Void Vikings are complete and in the game. Part of this is a breaking change that means you'll lose all current progress (unlocked ships, high scores). We know this is an unpleasant choice but one we felt was necessary due to the balancing changes we've done to the game. Previous ships and items don't reflect how the game has evolved as well as previous scores aren't in line with what's possible in game. The balancing changes have touched education bonuses, ship base stats, and item stats. Our goal with these was to make each ship give a unique playing experience, the items to be interesting choices while you're playing and the education bonuses worth the debt you pay off. This update also focuses on bringing in Steam specific features and to rework the overall balancing and polish of the game. For Steam features we've added cloud saves, achievements, and trading cards to the game. Big changes: All current progress will be lost! A new leaderboard for the released game. Steam features; cloud saves, achievements, trading cards. Notable additions: Added the tutorial back to the game for new players. You can delete unwanted ships from Valhalla. Education choices are saved for each ship. Inventory items are sorted by level. Unity launcher removed and settings moved to in game. Key bug fixes: Education bonuses were being limited by item stat caps. Could use new game UI to overwrite education choices of game in progress. Controller input improved; icons for Wii/PS4/XB1 controllers added, won't get stuck if no controller connected. Controllers B button backs you out of everything. Update 1.7.4Jan 9, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsLubing up the plasma injectors! This update focuses on making the game run and play better. To do this we've worked on the games performance and balancing. Our goal is to make the game fun, challenging and with engaging decisions from the start all while running at a minimum smooth 60 frames per second. We got our performance gains through reworking physics behaviors and greatly reducing our draw calls. Outside those two large areas we also made a lot of small changes throughout the game to find and squash anything that was using a lot of CPU effort unnecessarily. For balancing and gameplay we've worked on items and enemies. This means improved item stats and several iterations of balancing to make them more interesting when compared with each other. We've also fine-tuned item and money drop rates to give a better experience. Enemies are now more frequent and there are now some special very powerful enemies to make things more interesting. The education bonuses have also been increased to make the choices more meaningful but so has the interest rate of the loan it gives you. Paying it off is more fun though since your skill in the game gives you more item or money drops. One shot kills, multi-kills, kill streaks, and the very powerful enemies all give you more loot. Additions: Special powerful enemies Vsync setting Key bug fixes: Enemy movement and AI improved to be completely framerate independent. Health drops will fly to you correctly whenever or wherever you are if you are damaged. Surt ship secondary attack works correctly. Update 1.7.3Oct 26, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsThis update focused on making the game more exciting and interesting to play. We've done a little balancing, UI effect additions and in game effect improvements. Part of that is showing more relevant information to the player. For example adding specific stats back to the inventory screen so you can see an overview of what your ship can do as well as the bonuses your education is providing. Another is including data on how you are paying down your student loans. And of course a bunch of bug fixes for a few crashes as well as other issues in the game. Other changes: Make players name stand out in leaderboard lists. Improve enemy ship deaths to include the death spiral. Fixed engine sounds; you make noise when moving and extra fancy noise when boosting. Fixed some UI issues brought in with the new UI.Update 1.7.3Oct 26, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsThis update focused on making the game more exciting and interesting to play. We've reworked the UI; menus have all been improved with fancy graphics and a new HUD in game. The ship selection and education enrollment menus have been combined. The goal is to make picking a ship and education to be more straight forward and fun. It includes a list of stats of the ship you chose with the bonuses you have from your education. We've also changed how the radar behaves; switching from a square top down view in the corner to an approach of 'enemy this direction' along the edge of the screen. The idea is you can keep your eyes on the action and notice new threats using your peripheral vision. Added Mac support! Note: we're aware of issues with Controller input on the Mac builds, we're looking into a solution. Changes: New UI; menus and HUD in game updated. Combined and improved ship/education selection experience. Improved 'edge' radar. Mac support. Other bug fixes. Update 1.7.2Oct 6, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsComplete UI overhaul! We've added the Tyr ship. It leverages the damaging power of electricity to destroy its enemies but you'll need to get up close and personal. You can unlock it by scoring 80k points with the Surt ship. While you're taking the new ship out for some electrifying flying don't miss some environment improvements with fancy asteroids, planets and nebulas. Changes: Finished all 3D item icons. Improved the environment with better asteroids, planets and nebulas. Other bug fixes. Update 1.7.1Aug 9, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsA new ship to unlock! We've added the Tyr ship. High scores and current in progress games will be lost. Get an education! In this update we've added an education based progression system and leaderboards. The education gives you specific stat bonuses (like increasing your primary damage) but they have a cost you have to pay back. You pay it back with the Space Bucks (formerly Upgrade Units) you get from melting down items you don't want. You will have to decide between upgrading items with Space Bucks or paying down your debt. After the first system (5 waves) your debt will earn interest. To win you need to pay off the entire debt from the education you chose. If you are able to pay off your education debt then you can use that ship, it's equipped items, and the associated education bonuses to attempt a high score on the leaderboards. Here you have no inventory, no items are dropped and there is no pause between waves of enemies. You also can't resume a score game by exiting to the main menu. Other big changes: Previous high score entries will be lost. Fixed all currently reported crashes. Several balancing changes for items. Nerfed the Skadi ships offensive ability. Update 1.6.2May 9, 2017 - Community AnnouncementsUpdate 1.6.2 This is a tiny update to add crash/issue reporting to the game and overall make the game easier. If the game encounters an issue it will now send that data to us so that we can investigate. This all happens behind the scenes so there is no user interaction needed. It is, however, tied to the analytics setting so if you have that turned off no data is sent. Here is a list of the data that is collected with an example: Error name -> Exception: This is the test of the analytics disable. Our last update took a very long time so we're adjusting things back the other way in an effort to get improvements out on a more frequent basis. Features: Add screen shake; when you get hit by enemy fire. Add different shield effects based on which shield item you have equipped. Bug fixes: Damage on items is shown to one decimal place to make upgrades less confusing. Create a upgrade limit for items that won't benefit from additional upgrades. Opening the inventory removes all item pickup popups. Fix boss enemy movement, will now fly at player instead of some random direction. Fix enemy movement; enemies won't fly at you backwards or oscillate left/right as they attack. Rework the mouse/controller turn sensitivity; mouse sensitivity has a wider range and mouse/controller have a better default setting.
