Below we will list the features and content available in initial release. Alpha v0.1 Features/Content: -5 large open world maps. -2 God Powers including 'Noah's Flood' -19 unique units(Including 3 heroes). -Sandbox mode. -Custom units editor. -1st and 3rd person in unit possession. -RTS mode, with full drag select unit/army commanding. -Experimental blood volumes -Body piles to form literal mountains. -Revolutionary dynamic swarm pathfinding which updates to changes in environment. -Mass ragdoll physics(Faked but beautiful). Known issues/bugs -Custom units often don't have correct sound, or any sound for firing projectiles. -Leaf tree in City Of Troy has bugged out close render distance(This showed up last minute) -Bodies often flicker on the ground. -Animation speeds and other animation bugs often happen in possession. -Order arrow in RTS stays behind after use. -There are still remaining issues in RTS unit selection and orders. -Battle maps, do not show boundaries. I wanted to address the some comments popping up around UEBS2. I first want to assure you, we never planned to stop updating UEBS1. We will continue to release updates before the UEBS2 release. Over the years UEBS1 has grown a fair amount, much of which we have the community to thank. In the next paragraph, I want to go over some of the reasons it's been difficult to deliver on all requests for UEBS1, and why a sequel makes the most sense to us. Prepare for lots of technical stuff! UEBS has a lot of potential for improvement, and the directions the game can go are infinite. During development of UEBS1, I was the only developer with very limited resources. Brilliant Games has since expanded into a team, and our capabilities, skillsets and budget have increased. The crowd tech in UEBS1 is one of the main systems that drive the game. At Brilliant Games we LOVE battles, and large battles are not possible without some seriously advanced technology. Believe us when we say, you can't just open an editor and throw a bunch of characters in, you won't get past 100 without issues in most cases. For those of you who don't know, UEBS1 crowd tech is actually 2 generations old here at Brilliant Games. The Black Masses crowd tech is the next generation of UEBS crowd tech, and was rewritten from the ground up. UEBS2 is the next after Black Masses, and it was also completely rewritten. So why am I talking about crowd tech? Because when developing something this advanced, it often comes with limitations and sacrifices as to what it can do. UEBS1 crowd tech is aging, and it's becoming difficult to squeeze much more out of it. One example of a brick wall limitation in UEBS1, is the ability to have more variety in animations, as well as unit types per battle. This is because each animation and character takes a serious amount of memory/ram. This issue was majorly improved in Black Masses, and now completely solved in UEBS2. UEBS2 animations now have almost no significant memory footprint. So the next question is. Why not bring this tech into UEBS1? Simply said, the entire game would break. UEBS1 has been built around the old generation of crowd tech, and everything else would have to be re-coded and rewritten. And the biggest problem? The thousands of modded characters would no longer work, and years of work from the community would be lost. At Brilliant Games, we are obsessed with creating and innovating. This new tech in UEBS2 is our greatest accomplishment yet, which we think may set some serious standards for the industry. With all the major limitations of UEBS1 gone (Including pathfinding), we now have the freedom to develop something truly massive and memorable. We can't justify a sequel unless it's 10 times better in every way! And that's what we aim to do. (Technically speaking the crowd tech handles 100 times more characters). Sorry for the delay on this, but we were finally able to fix the lighting issue with AMD 5000 graphics cards. Below I will tell the story of what we went through to give you all a perspective on what graphics programming is like. The Story: First off, we are die hard AMD fans here, and the issues we had may not have been the fault of AMD since there are so many factors at play. As some of you may know, shortly after releasing our latest content update users with AMD 5000 GPUs immediately started reporting problems with the new lighting system, where all geometry was being rendered black. We had 2 AMD computers at the office during this time, which made this very confusing to us since we had thoroughly tested on both machines. Turns out none of those machines had 5000 series GPUs. So out of concern for this issue, we went out and bought an AMD 5500 XT. As soon as we turned it on, to our relief the blackness bug finally showed its face. But it wasn't a simple fix. Unfortunately, the blackness bug was only present in a build EXE, and not in editor. This makes debugging far more difficult since all our debugging tools are in editor. After many hours of making tiny changes and creating builds only to see zero results, we finally made a discovery. We found out, when doing a post screen effect, that AMD cards can only write to one texture. This limiting was not written anywhere in Unity's documentation or AMD. So once we made this discovery, we got creative and made it work. Conclusion: So there you have it! A little insight into what it takes to solve a seemingly simple problem. Please let us know if there are any other graphics issues. We are looking into buying a 5000 series for debugging this light issue, but would prefer not to spend too much. Hello everyone, we have a quick hotfix for ya. We made a few changes to the lighting and we need people with the AMD 5700XT to test the latest patch. We really aren't sure if the issue has been resolved to be honest(Since we do not have any at the studio) but we made a few changes that MAY have fixed the black light issue. Changes Made: -Direct texture look up removed for shadow sampling and replaced with standard texture sampling. -Screen resolution added to options menu. -GPU vram usage reduced in attempt to optimize for lower end hardware. More Control Over Armies & NEW Graphics - V1.9 Now Live!Oct 30, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsBLACK LIGHTING FIX: We have posted an update with a temporary fix for the black lighting bug some AMD users are experiencing. Please go into your options in the menu and enable "Use Vanilla lighting". Version 1.9 has arrived! Below we will list some of the changes! What's new? -Lighting engine completely re-written. Lighting features include: Soft shadows with penumbra, HD screenspace shadows, Global Illumination with bounce light and ambient occlusion. -New Army path drawing in battle editor. (Double clicking the army allows you to draw a path, double clicking again on the path node adds another path node). -2 new Halloween units added. 1. Scarecrow killer with a claw as a weapon. 2.Hallowman, a mounted skeleton knight with a pumpkin head riding an undead skeleton horse. -New Halloween themed map added called 'Land Of The Dead'. A giant graveyard surrounded by haunted forests and mountains. -Performance increase in large battles and overall AI efficiency and rendering. Changes/Fixes: -Bug fixed where camera would go into the ground sometimes when right clicking to posses a unit. -Bug fixed where UI arrow was left by army groups in battle editor. -Blip lags reduced caused by old lighting system. -Bug fixed where error happens if user selects godpower higher than #2.
