Bug Fix Patch #6Jun 17, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe've adding some additional logging to get to the bottom of a rare situation where Random NPC requests become corrupted. This is presenting in various ways: Navigation buttons disappear Getting stuck in the celebration ceremony after chipping Getting stuck in the Upcycling sequence and trinkets disappearing If you see any of the following, please open a bug ticket on our Discord and send us your save files and logs straight away. This will help us debug the issue but we can also tweak your files to get you out of this situation!Bug Fix Patch #5 - fixes & Early Access β‘οΈ 1.0 save helpJun 16, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe had a word with Aimon, and they've agreed to sort something out for players who are coming from EA to 1.0, as they won't be able to keep their progress! There's now a little system in the game which should make life a lot nicer for players coming to the 1.0 after playing the Early Access version, and a bunch of fixes on top for everyone else.PLAYING 0.9 WITH ALL YOUR EARLY ACCESS PROGRESSAs you know, the saves are not compatible - something we'd dearly hoped to avoid, but couldn't - and we do have a guide on how to still play the game with those in an archived branch:How to access Early Access save files post launchPLAYING 1.0 - NEW FEATUREBut for those of you who want to play the 1.0, this new system measures all the things you've bought and unlocked in the game, then converts it to a nice pile of gold that, when you've made your first sale in the game, will be delivered into your coffers! The full details are in this new guide we wrote: Early Access Gold TransferWe hope this goes some way to avoid any disappointment! If you've got Early Access saves as the most recent in Trash Goblin, this is what you'll see:First the game detects your Early Access save......and then assuming you want to it tells you how much gold you'll get based on your progress!"But what if I've already played a bunch in 1.0?" Well, we've covered that in the guide too - I'd recommend having a read, and balance your 1.0 progress against starting a new game with the bonus gold. It's worth saying we're sorry for any frustrations this has caused, we should really have thought about how to handle this better a lot sooner, but we do listen and react as much - and as fast - as possible. We love you goblins!FIXES FOR ALLBut of course this update adds a bunch more stability and bugfixes too! We've added tonne of new expression changes for the named NPCs.SFX are now in place for the stamp on the "Any-Day" Trading Permit. The map will now close automatically if Aimon starts a conversation with you while you're looking at it. The district confirmation pop-up now closes properly if you close the map while it is open.District icons will now always show the quest waiting exclamation mark when there's a quest waiting for you.The map will also now display sparkle VFX when there's a district quest waiting. Some Side Quest customers couldn't be dismissed without talking to them a second time, and that's now fixed.Even more small tweaks and fixes. The eagle-eyed amongst you will have seen the other patches we put out last week, but just in case you were wondering:Patch 3: We added some additional logging to help us get the bottom of the issue where some people cannot get Nomia to leave!Patch 4: All quest completion states are now saved properly on non-English language systems, meaning Nomia ...The Trash Goblin OST is out now!Jun 11, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe're delighted to announce the Trash Goblin OST is out, and you can grab it right here.16 tracks and over 42 minutes of blissful, cosy, warming music from the game, plus a bonus 'lofi' track not featured in the game! π§Please enjoyπ§Bug Fix Patch #4Jun 10, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsAll quest completion states are now saved properly on non-English language systems, meaning Nomia will finally stop returning to repeat the same quests over and over!Bug Fix Patch #3Jun 9, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe've added some additional logging to help us get the bottom of the issue where some people cannot get Nomia to leave!Cozy shop sim Trash Goblin invites you to build your own colorful doodads, but I'm convinced its real star is the smolderingly sexy MushromeoJun 8, 2025 - PC GamerHere's something I didn't know about Trash Goblin, a cozy shopkeeping sim featured in today's PC Gaming Show 2025: one of the characters who regularly comes into your shop is a hopeless romantic who also happens to be a mushroom. We're loving seeing all the mad creations and hilarious stories coming from your time in Silver City! As well as a large batch of bug fixes, this update introduces a new NPC as well as a brand new plushie trinket: Mister Pickles and his Witch Doll!We wanted to include Mister Pickles in the launch build last week, but you know what cats are like; they'll arrive in their own sweet time! So here he finally is. Also we've been listening to all the feedback we've received, and have fixed what we think are some of the biggest issues that we were seeing reported - specifically players getting stuck with no customers or seeing items disappear - thankfully neither of which was not affecting too many people. We're also aware that some people coming from Early Access are disappointed by the lack of carry over with the saves. We've got a guide for you here, and are keen to do what we can to ameliorate the problem. On that note, if there's anything going wrong, the first port of call should be our discord - we're often able to fix issues with save games to step around problems for people, although sadly at the moment, that does not include carrying over progress from the EA version. With all that said, here's what we've managed to fix! Enjoy! We've made some changes that should stop Nomia from refusing to leave the customer window after you've dismissed them. The game no longer autosaves just the contents of your Stash when loading a save file, so immediately hard quitting will no longer result in the loss of all trinkets in your workshop! We've changed the Quest Tracker icon for summoning NPCs from a bell to an envelope to avoid confusion with the bell on the customer desk. We've implemented a fix to prevent you clicking through conversations too quickly and missing the dialogue. You can still spam through, it just was sometimes skipping a full panel entirely which was not ideal for anyone.Rebooting the game no longer advances the quest wait timer by the number of time slots already played on a save, thus triggering all the side quests to start firing at once! If you were feeling like you'd have a really long run of customers just one after another, this will have them arriving at the intended and much more chill pace. You can no longer select trinkets on shelves behind the open Stash book when upcycling. Which is great, cos it was really easy to accidentally pick something up and get confused.Picking up trinkets before the upcycling connection animation has completed will no longer result in a missing connection line between trinket and socket. We've tweaked Akilah's quest to make it clear that he wants \four\ trinkets attached to his Wooden Mask. We've added in a handful of new expression changes for the named NPCs - more to come in a future update!Sound effects for the Delver Licence stamp, toggling pages in the Stash book and dismissing customers are now in.The armoire now creaks! The correct t...Hotfix 1 and Bug Fix Patch 1!May 29, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsThe launch has gone brilliantly, we're delighted to see all the feedback, bug reports (tbh, not many of those! yay!) and of course all the reviews coming in - plus you managed to max out our promised charity donation of $5000 because of all the streams of the game! It's been an incredible 24hrs. And while we've taken it a little slow today at Spilt Milk HQ - the team earned it! - we can't resist updating the game with some important bugs squashed and bits like that. Patch Notes - Hotfix #1 We've fixed an issue where Aimon failed to unlock the map and calendar for some players. Patch Notes - Bug Fix Patch #1 Child trinkets - especially ones made up of several trinkets - will no longer delete themselves when upcycling to the parent trinket! This was pretty gnarly, not many of you reported it, but it would definitely come up at some point. The Frog Plushie can now wear hats! A much-requested feature, you better believe it. Trash Goblin builds are now 64 bit, which may improve performance for some players. We're very interested to know if it helps with anyone reporting crashes or stuttering. Again, not many of you but its important! The three random NPCs that visit you during the tutorial will no longer change their appearance overnight. It was weird when they did that, wasn't it. Aunty's bedding now has a proper icon in the Customisation interface. She was furious with us for missing that, and if you know what's good for you, then you do what Aunty says. Akilah will now accept the Melty Teacup Handle as one of the attachments for his Wooden Mask. Not sure why he wasn't before, guess he was just a little picky? Markup text will no longer be seen in some of Donoval's dialogue. If I told you at least 2 team members stared at the code and swore nothing was wrong, would you believe me? Something something wood for the trees, y'know? Squished a typo in Lucky's dialogue. Take that, grammar! We're hoping to sneak another update out tomorrow, then it's on to the roadmap work and more chunky updates over the days, weeks and months to come! If you want to talk with other goblins (and us) then hit up our discord!Trash Goblin 1.0 is OUT NOW!May 28, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsTrash Goblin 1.0 is out now! We did it! It's an incredible feeling to be releasing Trash Goblin to 1.0 after all dedicated development, tons of new features, updates and bugfixes over the 6 months we spent in Early Access... but we're here now and we couldn't be more excited! Check out the tasty new trailer we made! So all that remains is for me to give a strong call for you to play and review it, even if you already did during Early Access because boy howdy a lot has changed and we need those reviews! Without further ado, here's... What's New Storyline! Weβve got a lovely, funny, heart-warming and occasionally spooky story for you to play through, filled to the brim with brand new characters, trinkets and gameplay to experience. We think for most people it will be about 10hrs of time to see it through! We canβt wait to see what you think, and who your new favourite character is! The game now features a grand total of 33 NPCs, each with their own related quests and trinkets; all of them gorgeous, some of them slightly odd, and a few of them are you - backers and supporters from around the world! You now have the ability to dismiss and summon named NPCs, not just random strangers. This means you can delay or hold off on completing main quests for as long as you want! Tinker away with no pressure, social or otherwise. We've added over 100 new trinkets to the game, more than double what the game contained as of the final Early Access update. District Travel allows you to explore two new areas of the city in which to sell your wares as a pop-up shop. Once unlocked, you cram your stash with trinkets to sell, and experience what its like to have a day full of customers who've been waiting to see your stall for days or weeks! Completionists will be delighted about the Trinketpedia! This addition tracks every single trinket in the game, and ticks off whether you've discovered, cleaned, upcycled and sold each one! The new "Fetching Fungi" system - which ties into the Trinketpedia - is an alternative way of acquiring trinkets you have already encountered. For a small price, of course. Business is business. Grand Opening Cosmetic Set - how could we not celebrate the launch of our game without celebrating the opening of your little goblin shop?! 16 Achievements, a nice little bunch to get through which we will no doubt be adding to as we update and expand the game over the coming months. Bug Fixes and Other Updates During upcycling trinkets will no longer be deleted when clicking on a valid trinket at the same time as removing an attached one. Upcycled trinkets will no longer become uninteractable and stuck to walls or other surfaces. All our text is now left aligned, so no more issues caused by justification! The potted succulent and potted leafy plant have been removed from Expansion Mode. Worry not, they shall return as actual trinkets in a future update. We've lowered the cap on the mercy timer a little so requested trinkets do take so long to arrive in ...Trash Goblin (PC) ReviewMay 27, 2025 - CGMagazineGetting to review Trash Goblin was a bit of a humorous process. As usually happens when something cute or cozy comes on our radar, Dayna Elieen will send it my way. I told her it looked cute and that I would review it. Time passed with nary a whisper from her, until one day she messaged our group for our bi-monthly Indie Spotlight that we would be crazy not to look at this. I reminded her I had already said I would look at it, and here we are. But Trash Goblin left me with a somewhat conflicted feeling, one I havenβt really felt since Mika and the Witchβs Mountain. It made me start to think a little bit deeper about the whole βCozy Gameβ genre and whether or not we should forgive these types of games for not really following the basic structure of video games.Β There really isnβt much story to speak of in Trash Goblin, and this is more or less by design. You play as a goblin running a shop where you resell items you find in the trash. There are little bits of... We made a trailer to celebrate, featuring some lovely stuff from our community: This 1.0 launch is the culmination of our previous 4 major updates, as well as a ton of all-new content in including: a full story campaign where you must save Aimonβs... well that would be telling. a total of 33 NPCs, each with their own related quests and trinkets District Travel, allowing you to explore two new areas of the city to sell your wares The Trinketpedia, that tracks all trinkets in game (and ticks off whether you've discovered, cleaned, upcycled and sold each trinket), The Fetching Fungi system which ties into the Trinketpedia as an alternative way of acquiring already discovered trinkets. The 1.0 launch will be commemorated with the Grand Opening Cosmetic Set Achievements The ability to dismiss and summon named NPCs Over 100 new trinkets (for a grand total of 180, more than double the Early Access content), The usual balancing, polish, bug fixes and optimisations As ever thank you to everyone who's supported us, be that buying the game, leaving bug reports, reviews, telling a friend - whatever it was, it helped, and we thank you from the bottom of our goblin hearts! Of course, we've got tons more to do still. there's some very exciting news to share between now and then (yes, perhaps as exciting as today's!), and massive plans beyond the 1.0 that we think you'll be stoked for - but we just need a bit more time to solidify before we share them. That roadmap is getting updated! Keep an eye out and of course, mark May 28th in your diary! The Trash Goblin is coming!Price IncreaseApr 24, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsPrice Increase Trash Goblin has increased in quality, content, and value for money steadily since we launched in Early Access 6 months ago, and we also "priced" it at this value for the Kickstarter rewards way back in 2023. We can see a lot of players already logging 20hrs+. And plenty who've played for 50hrs or 100hrs... and yes we see you player who has logged 240hrs! This is in the Early Access version, and there's a ton of content coming in the 1.0 so we believe it's a lot of game for the money. The increase is of the equivalent of $5 - we have thought long & hard about this, and we believe it's a fair price - of course we hope you do too! Planned 1.0 Content We're excited to add tons of gameplay and content to the game for our launch out of Early Access (date to be announced soon). We've been saving some of it up over the course of development and of course have always planned for multiple brand new features to arrive at launch so it makes the whole game feel fresh and new for everyone! For the full details hit up the post we wrote recently about the roadmap which you can find here, but the headline features we're adding for 1.0 are as follows: District Travel 10hrs+ of brand new Story Trinket request system City Map & calendar Trinketpedia Delver License System Dismissal and Summoning of Named Customers More Cosmetic Options Achievements Cost, Price and Randomness Rebalance Tons of new trinkets A Chunk (but not all) of the Kickstarter Rewards Founders Pack And here's a reminder of the roadmap, which will be updated for 1.0 and far far beyond! We can't wait to show you our plans! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/7687bd0161d0464aa702474f8f035c950c251d79.pngHotfix - tools disappearing bugApr 11, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsFixed an issue where players could make their tools disappear during associated play (eg: chisel during chipping).Stock N Trade HotfixApr 10, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsFIX - Choosing both options during the first Redoir conversation now successfully gives you the Upcycler tool."Stock N Trade" update out now - huge new features, gameplay & content!Apr 10, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsIt's the final update before 1.0 launch! Oh my gosh! Time has flown, and the team is so excited to get this latest update into your mitts - partly because we think it's more packed with goodies than a Grandma Egg, but also so we can concentrate fully on the launch. We're selfish/dedicated that way! Of course that means you should look out for a release date announcement before long, but until then we've got lots of other exciting things to share with you, plus a lovely breakdown of the features and content in Stock N Trade! Here's the update trailer! Sale & Upcoming Price Changes First up you'll be wanting to tell your friends to nab Trash Goblin right now, for a couple of reasons! First up, we're running a deepest-so-far discount of 33%! This is incredibly good value, and certainly the cheapest we'll be for a while. Related to that, we're going to increase the price ahead of our 1.0 launch to $19.99 (up from its current price of $14.99). At the moment we're planning for that price increase to happen on the 21st May. Trash Goblin has increased in quality, content, and value for money steadily since we launched in Early Access 6 months ago, and we also "priced" it at this value for the Kickstarter rewards way back in 2023. We have thought long and hard about this, and we believe it's a fair price - and of course we hope you do too! We can see a lot of players already logging 20hrs+ (and some over 50hrs or 100hrs) in the Early Access version, and there's a ton of content coming in today's update as well as the 1.0 so we're keeping our fingers crossed that it seems like a reasonable change. Let us know what you think! To summarise, it's the cheapest right now that it will be for a long time, so make the most of it! Beta! We mentioned a Beta last time, and now we've got dates for you! The Beta will be run from the 2nd to the 5th May. It will be focused on the Story, specifically Acts 1 & 2. Beta Goblins will be automatically involved, but we want more people to come and help us figure out if we've done Donoval justice* so we're running a 1st-come 1st-served system on our discord. Between now and then just head over to the beta channel and respond to the instructions there! Please do bear in mind that this is not a shortcut to progress in the launch game - see below for details but sadly saves will not be migrating from Early Access to 1.0. *Donoval's story may or may not wrap up in the Beta content, I just know he's the fave right now, sorry for being a tease! Chill Hoarding Bundle! We've got another bundle going, this time with the chillest game I've ever seen, Koi Farm! In Koi Farm you crossbreed Koi in serene ponds, then catalogue & share the endless varieties you discover. It was suggested by our lovely community as a great pairing so we're excited to launch that today as well! If you own Trash Goblin you'll get a little extra off of Koi Farm, and vice versa! Check it out here! London Games Festival We're also delighted to be featured as part of ...Road Map - full details on the next update and 1.0!Mar 12, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe've been talking about showing our plans for the game in more detail for a little while now, so thank you for being patient with us while we figured it all out! I fully intend to write so much detail here that you potentially start to regret about how open and thorough we're being π STOCK N TRADE This is the next and final update before 1.0! Currently we're aiming to release Stock N Trade on the 9th of April, and we want to really focus on the selling side of the game; trying to fulfill that shopkeeper part of the fantasy I suppose. This means customers and the ways you can interact with them are getting a load of attention. On top of that, there are a few features that are among the last 'foundational' elements of the game that we envision for 1.0, and so it was important to get them in and played a lot too! Trinket Attributes & Varied Customer Requests This is the thing that we're most excited about, and has the biggest ongoing effect on the game. I wonder if you agree? At the moment, a random customer can ask for any trinket, and do so "any old way" which means in any state. This includes upcycled with other trinkets, so you can kinda do whatever you like - there's not much of an interesting choice to be made or anything to really think about. This is staying as an option, but we've added a whole system on top that gives every trinket a set of attributes, and these are used by the game to generate customer requests! The new system allows random customers to ask for more specific things, as well as things that give you more creative freedom, and we think this fleshes out the potential of this side of the game nicely. The customer can ask for: Clean versions of a trinket. "I want a Clean Grandma Egg." Best get your sponge out! Upcycled versions of a trinket. "I'd love a Pot, but I need it with a little something extra." This encourages you to play around a bit and make something really silly. Or cool! Or ugly... A "type" of trinket. So they might say "I'm after a Lid", or demand "gimme the best jewellery you have to hand!". This lets you get tactical, clearing out duplicates or unwanted stock as long as they're in the right ballpark. The exact thing that they want. Something like "I want a Lich Crown, and just a Lich Crown, thankee kindly". These will perhaps feel the more 'difficult' to serve because they're so specific. Sometimes customers know what they want and can't be persuaded. You can always dismiss them I suppose... We're also hopefully going to have the ability for them to ask for a specific heritage of trinket (Goblin, Human, etc.), but this aspect needs a lot more testing. If they don't make it into this update, they'll be in 1.0 instead! Display Mat Finally! This is a long-requested feature that means you can finally place your stock out in the open ready for sale, and customers will buy them! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/faabbbe584613d424d5d3ee6c9bfda3dfe8b471b.png Us figuring out how best and where best to lay the Display Mat out..."Deep Clean" - bubbles and elbow grease!Feb 19, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello Goblins and welcome to our first update of 2025: Deep Clean! As you could probably tell from our last news post, we're very excited about our plans for Trash Goblin throughout 2025. Now that the rush of our Early Access launch is over we've settled into a new production schedule that gives the team a nice cadence of working on the new updates for a couple of sprints and then taking the foot off the gas a little and pivoting our attention to our backlog during a dedicated polish and bug fixing sprint. This means that while there might be a little longer to wait between updates, there will always be a nice balance of new features and fixes, plus it stops the team from burning out β because goblins don't do crunch! Now this is a real chonky update, so go make yourself a brew, grab some biscuits and then settle in! What's New Cleaning Upgrades You guessed it, the Deep Clean update is all about cleaning! Aimon has been to the supplier, stocked up his wares and you can now upgrade your sponge! There are three new sponges in game (Improved, Quality and Advanced), and each one allows you to clean more efficiently and cover a larger area of dirt. This is unlocked the morning after you give Mushromeo their tooth, and if you're beyond that point, unlocking them is just a case of completing or dismissing any active quest, and then the very next day you should get access. When I type things like that, I do wonder about the sort of game we've made π
We think you'll be able to tell the difference in these upgrades straight away, but as always we appreciate your feedback on the Steam forums and particularly in our Discord server!" Upgradable Soak Tub The soak tub is now upgradable! After the initial investment into this overnight soaker, you're able to upgrade it another two times. Each upgrade is visually different and unlocks the ability to add another trinket to clean overnight, up to a maximum of three. We've also moved the soak tub into a more suitable place which means the storage chest has returned to its original location and is no longer blocking the way to your bed! We're excited to see what you think of the tier 3 soak tub in particular. Some of the team think it's adorable, others find it slightly disturbing! General Cleaning Improvements We've been doubling down on the cleaning mechanics and making sure the experience feels fun and satisfying, as well as fixing a bunch of cleaning bugs. Here are all the related changes: Getting fed up with not being able to see tiny bits of dirt in awkward places on a trinket? Well you can now see where you've missed a bit with the new dirt highlight feature! Press F on the keyboard or click the middle mouse button and any remaining dirt will be highlighted for a second or two. Smaller items are now much easier to clean and dirt cleaning now scales with trinket size. That means the smallest of trinkets are relatively quick to clean, whereas the largest take a decent amount of effort, as you'd expect! It was al...2025 - the year ahead!Jan 31, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWelcome to 2025! I hope you had a wonderful break and are feeling full of energy for this, the Year of the Goblin! We're chomping at the bit to get what we're working on into your hands, and while we solidify the features coming to our next Trash Goblin update, which should be out sometime in mid-February, it's the perfect time to discuss our plans for the year as a whole as well! What we're working on First up some teases on what's coming in the next update, because we like to show you cool stuff. Is it big-headed to say this is all cool stuff? Well no matter how cool it is, I do want to point out that a lot of this is in development and subject to change. the usual caveat on showing stuff that's a few weeks away π
What's coming to Deep Clean? Anyway, for an update called Deep Clean, you'd guess we're focusing on the cleaning gameplay... and you'd have guessed right! Sponge upgrades! We've had a word with Aimon, and they've managed to source some better sponges for you to buy and utilise - cleaning just got a lot easier! And maybe even softer on your little goblin mitts. We know a lot of you have wanted this for a while, it's exciting to bring it to the game! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/0ff85dd3ad579e745c1c5b87156c2c8f331de4ff.png From left to right, 3 glorious sponges in order of... sponge-tacular-ness? Soaktub rework & upgrades! We're going to change where the soak tub lives, and also give you the opportunity to upgrade it to take more trinkets! Another much-requested feature, and something that should make it easy to stay on top of all those customer requests. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/2d52fb9fbd6f516772a1396ab810cf4405011864.png This peek at the new tier 1 shows how we like to be smart where we can, re-using assets if we can! But also lavishing detail on everything, because that's what brings them to life. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/d122bce02c98cab334afcf18557d67c22f22133c.png Speaking of life, I wonder what this has got to do with the new Soak Tub? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/2a3a16c4830962d9b9b38440c77750afdcb94c79.png And the tier 2 tub is a clear upgrade from the previous one! Looks a little precariously pinned to the wall, though... Dirt highlighting. Ever been stuck spinning a trinket endlessly trying to find that last little bit of dirt? Yeah, same. Well, banish that to the past! Now you can just press a button to highlight all the remaining dirt on a trinket! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44616587/3c3c5ed98bbb989363018e83afed0cd8706a724f.gif And we're not stopping there, so make sure to keep an eye on the full release notes when the update comes out, because there's a bunch more work that's been done on this side of the game that we think you'll love. Meanwhile, lots of other cool stuff is being worked on. Read on! Chisel upgrades & alternates! We're giving you a way to upgrade the power of your basic chisel (which will work how you'd expect ie: fewer hits to crumble a block) but we also wanted to give you some fun options so... what do you ...Demo Updated!Dec 23, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsThe demo now features: save game, plus it will transfer over to the full game around 1hr of gameplay shop cosmetic customisation (bedclothes, wallpaper, and more) shop expansion (shelves, stash space, and more) the Upcycler tool upgrade path meet 10 named customers (but don't expect to see their stories all the way through) loads of random customers 70 trinkets As a comparison, the full game adds: 4 new named customers including: Virgil Mycelle Raniel Ortici 4-6hrs linear story content Endless play with endless customers If you'd like to help us out then do report bugs in our discord.
