You have one week to claim the start of Creative Assembly's strategy trilogy set in Games Workshop's fantasy world of WH0K. Epic have also brought back a previous freebie, the first-person stabber City Of Brass. A tidy haul for the small price of using the Epic Games Store. Read more It's Nurgle vs Slaanesh in the latest Total War: Warhammer 3 gameplay videoNov 27, 2021 - EurogamerCreative Assembly's latest gameplay video for upcoming strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3 showcases two of my favourite factions in the fantasy universe: Nurgle and Slaanesh. The video, below, contains gameplay of a fight between armies of the two competing Chaos gods, complete with throaty narration. "The Plaguefather's obsession with breeding new infections has led him to the realm of Chaos and he's met by Slaanesh forces," reads the official blurb. "Yet, the notorious Keeper of Secrets is not leading the charge. What schemes could N'Kari be plotting?" Read more Nurgle looks like the reason for me to play Total War Warhammer 3Nov 24, 2021 - EurogamerI am, dear reader, a big fan of Nurgle. It's an odd thing to be a fan of. The putrid Chaos faction is quite possibly the most disgusting thing in all of fantasy, but when it comes to Warhammer, disgusting can be cool. Sort of. This week, developer Creative Assembly released a cinematic trailer for upcoming strategy game Total War: Warhammer 3, and it showcased Nurgle in all its puss-packed glory. I must say it's just about the best Nurgle has looked in any video game ever. Creative Assembly, which has form when it comes to making stunning Total War cinematic trailers, has nailed the relentlessness of Nurgle, the sense of inevitable doom as plague and pestilence sweeps across the battlefield. If you don't rot just by looking at what's coming at you, you'll live long enough to see your flesh slip off your bones and your eyes burst out of your head. Like I said, disgusting. Sega announced the news today, alongside details of the Ogre Kingdoms Race Pack, which comes free for those who pre-order the game ahead of time or pick up a copy during its launch week. Notably, you'll need to buy this separately if playing via Game Pass. Warhammer fans will likely be excited to learn that the Ogre Kingdoms will include Greasus Goldtooth and Skrag the Slaughterer, who you can see in the trailer below. It's all a bit "meat's back on the menu boys". The hotly-anticipated strategy game was due out late 2021. "We know this is disappointing, but the extra time means we can accomplish more than we could if we rushed to release this year," the UK studio said in a statement. In a statement, Creative Assembly shifted the release window for the latest entry in the strategy series in order to make for “a stronger release and the best first step into a new era for Total War: Warhammer.” All this is in service to making the best Total War: Warhammer experience the developer can. "We don't consider this release the end of our trilogy, but the start of years of content and support as we continue to bring the jaw-dropping scale of Games Workshop's fantasy universe to Total War." Strap yourself in, there's a lot of Warhammer stuff in here. First up is the reveal of Total War: Warhammer 2's final DLC, which reworks the poor old Beastmen. Creative Assembly didn't stop there. The DLC, due out in July, reworks the Beastmen race "to more closely match their intended playstyle and address their previous issues with horde gameplay", Creative Assembly said. "With a big focus on progression the Beastmen have a much more engaging and lasting experience." This week the British developer announced it had wrapped up work on Total War: Three Kingdoms with the 1.7.1 patch. No more DLC or patches will be released for the game, which broke series records upon launch in May 2019. Total War: Three Kingdoms saw seven DLC releases over the course of two years, but many fans feel Creative Assembly quit the game too early - and before the release of a promised expansion that would build out the north of the map. Read more Hands on with Total War: Warhammer 3's fiery new survival battlesMay 13, 2021 - EurogamerIs there a more ridiculous faction in the world of fantasy Warhammer than Chaos? There probably is actually - this is Warhammer after all, land of sneaky rats and lizard folk. It is nothing if not broad. But none of those other myriad factions and races and creeds has the word "Nurgle" in it, does it? So Chaos wins. Anyway, Total War: Warhammer 3. This is "the Chaos one", by the looks of things, featuring four different Chaos factions aligned to their respective gods: Khorne (the "blood for the blood god" one); Slaanesh (the naughty excess one); Tzeentch (the magic one); and yes, Nurgle, the god of looking like you'd smell absolutely disgusting. Alongside these Chaos forces comes a couple of other new factions, Kislev and Grand Cathay, and a new kind of battle. In fact, there are several new types of battle, as we learned from talking to game director Ian Roxburgh ("more detail later" on those) but for now there's one headliner: survival battles, the boss fight-style mode that we've played for a good couple of hours, albeit streamed over an occasionally wobbly Parsec. The hotly-anticipated strategy game's official gameplay reveal is set for 5pm on 13th May, but someone posted screenshots and details to 4chan - before they were deleted. Total War Battles: Warhammer is a mobile version of Total War: Warhammer's massive RTS battles, and it'll be opening up to beta testers in the near future. Developer NetEase (which is also developing Blizzard's Diablo Immortal for mobile) announced Total War Battles: Warhammer today with a YouTube video that shows off some gameplay. A few well-known legendary lords make appearances: here's the White Dwarf Grombrindal, there's the Empire's Balthasar Gelt. There's a little footage of a strategic layer, which features a reworked city and settlement system on a more stylized map, likely to make the game more readable on small mobile screens. The focus, however, is clearly on the large-scale RTS battles. The footage is marked as 'early alpha' and not indicative of the final product, so take what you're about to see with a grain of salt. That said, it does look mighty impressive - monstrous ogres, charging cavalry, and deadly siege weapons all feature in the battlefield footage. Read the rest of the story... Total War: Warhammer DLC buying guideSep 29, 2020 - PCGamesNTotal War: Warhammer, other than representing one of the biggest missed opportunities in videogames for a cool name (Total Warhammer. You know it makes sense), can also be marked as the start of a new era for Creative Assembly. Before now, the company had largely dealt with historical subjects and so always had to design with the idea of historical authenticity in mind. Taking on Games Workshop's 'Old World' fantasy IP, however, really allowed them to break loose and experiment, and this idea can also be found in the modest stable of post-launch DLC the game received as well. What you see below would go on to shape the DLC landscape of not only Total War: Warhammer 2, but also Total War: Three Kingdoms and beyond. Even as things stand now though, there are enough premium extra lords and factions available to add up to the cost of another full price game. Some give you more bang for your buck than others, which is why we've taken some time to break them all down by what they add, what playstyles they cater to, and how much value you're getting relative to the cost. Despite the market's over-saturation of what seems like a brand new Warhammer game every other week, players can't get enough of the franchise's return to its top-down roots. Bringing in 1.7 million players at its peak for a single day, Total War: Warhammer has been holding strong as the #3 most played game on Steam with an average of over a million players per day since its release one week ago. It's no surprise that Creative Assembly and Sega's latest is a hit with gamers, their 2013 strategy game, Total War: Rome II, has remained in the top 35 games on Steam since its launch -- pulling in an average of 200k players per day. So teaming up with the Warhammer brand was a brilliant move for the strategy game developer to help boost the genre's reach among gamers. Viewership for the strategy game hasn't been as hot, peaking at #4 on Twitch with 430k viewers in one day, but quickly losing viewer's interest and falling outside the top 20 with under 100k viewers yesterday. But with how well the game is performing on Steam, high level competitive play at tournaments streamed on Twitch could help boost the viewer counts in the coming months if the player base continues to hold strong.
