Tonight We Riot

Online Co-op and Bug FixesMay 13, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsWe've published a patch that fixed the following two bugs: Sound effects would sometimes stay faded out if the player left/restarted a level at just the right moment The Corporate Takeover achievement was being awarded prematurely In addition, we've now thoroughly tested and enabled the Steam Remote Play Together option, so players can now play online co-op with their Steam friends. If you are unfamiliar with RPT, please keep in mind the following: At most, only one player can use keyboard/mouse controls. So at least one player will need to use a controller/gamepad. There is no need to buy a second copy of the game for your friend to play. Just start the game on one machine, Alt+Tab over to your Steam friends list, right click a friend, and select Remote Play Together to invite that friend to play with you even if they don't own the game. RPT is a relatively new Steam feature with occasional hiccups that are usually resolved simply by unplugging and plugging back in controllers or switching up who's hosting. The only stubborn issue we encountered while testing was that gamepads wouldn't register on Linux unless that Linux machine was the host. PC/Mac did not experience any issues while hosting or being hosted by players on any of the 3 operating systems. While we have your attention, you all should check out the leftist games Colestia has been creating. Now that we've finished making a game, we finally have time to play games again, and we've been loving Colestia's meaningful and gorgeous work. Solidarity, PPU512Tonight We Riot is an unashamedly political protest brawlerMay 10, 2020 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun Shadowy oligarchs control the media, politics is riddled with corruption, the rich get richer and the poor go broke. It all sounds ridiculous, I know, but such is the premise of Tonight We Riot, a mass protest brawler released this week that wears its politics boldly in a red bandana ’round its neck. (more…) Tonight We Riot is now out on Linux, Windows, Mac, and Nintendo SwitchMay 7, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsFrequently Asked Questions What is Tonight We Riot all about? If you want more info than what's on the store page, check out this Kotaku piece.  What is Pixel Pushers Union 512? A handful of industry vets and novices who decided to make some videogames and share any money the games make equally. They made Tonight We Riot. What is Means Interactive? It's the game publishing division of Means TV, the world's first post-capitalist worker-owned streaming service. Weren't you working with New Blood Interactive before? I like New Blood. We were. We like them too! But you have to admit, Means Interactive is a perfect fit for this game. I saw you at SXSW like 5 years ago. What took so long? The devs have a bunch of kids and day jobs. How long is Tonight We Riot? Generally, people only spend between 2 and 4.5 hours on the game total. It depends on how good you are at the game (or the person you are playing co-op with), and it depends on how many unlocks you try to achieve. If you are not a fan of short games, probably steer clear. Or, remember you can get a refund if you've been playing the game less than 2 hours, so if it's seeming too short or you just don't like it by then, feel free to request a refund. Incessantly Asked QuestionsIF tHiS iS A SoCiAlIsT GaMe, WhY IsN'T It fReE? If that's a serious question, there's some cool stuff to learn about socialism. First, plenty of forms of socialism coexist with markets and exchanging money. The key to socialism is eliminating the exploitation of workers that comes when capital concentrates into the hands of others. Since the workers who made this game are also the owners of what they produced, that exploitation is less of an issue. If you're concerned that the platforms the game is on aren't worker-owned, or that the device the game is played on might have been made through unfair labor practices, those are totally valid concerns. But, as that way-too-often-applicable comic points out, you can live in a society while also wanting to improve it somewhat. Still, I'm angry this game exists. Sit with that a while. If a silly little pixel-art game about people rising up and overthrowing a repressive capitalist kleptocracy makes you so angry that you want to post pissy comments or review-bomb it, no one will stop you. But does the thought of people rationing insulin make you this angry? Do you think maybe your outrage has better places to go? No? Welp, see you in the comments.A Revolution 100 Years In The Making!Nov 10, 2017 - Community Announcementshttps://media.giphy.com/media/xUOxfay8PIsg9craFy/giphy.gif Fellow Workers! https://media.giphy.com/media/3o6fISk85y8Wh8PDFK/giphy.gif A revolution 100 years in the making is coming...
