TIME RIFT IS OUT NOW! We're so excited!! We can’t wait for your feedback and to see if you enjoy the game! This is a special day for the team. Our indie baby has become an indie professional game. This is a real achievement for us! A QUICK LOOK BACK We started the adventure in the middle of our studies. Encouraged by all the positive feedback we received from the jury during our 3rd year, we decided to continue improving the game in parallel to our classes. Our goal was to work freely together on something that would be ours, that we would love, and to propose a professional project for all those who were enjoying it. Highly motivated and ambitious, it was when we entered the Plaine Image incubator that we launched Lightshards. Time Rift was then selected during festivals and competitions and Abiding Bridge became our publisher. We also joined forces with IndieArk to handle publishing in China! Many people helped us work on it and put their heart into this project. Thanks to them, and to all of you who supported us along the way, we can proudly say to two students, ourselves from 7 years ago, that their dream has come true. SO THANK YOU Thank you to everyone who participated in the development of Time Rift. Thank you to those who have followed and encouraged us since the launch of the first demo. It’s amazing that you’re still here! Thanks also to those who have discovered us in the meantime or who have just recently found us. Every bit of support is important and means a lot to us! Thanks to everyone who believed in us and allowed us to reach this achievement. If you have questions, comments or just want to talk, come to our Discord! https://discord.com/invite/nycEuc8 You can also follow us on social media Twitter: https://twitter.com/timeriftgame Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TimeRift2022 And if you like the game, leave a review on the Steam page! It helps us a lot. Thank you again and good luck with your security tests! The Lightshards team Release date: 17th of February!Jan 21, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHello Time Rifters! It's been a while since we last gave you some news, but that's because we were waiting for the right moment to shower you with a lot of good news all at once! The first and most important news, the one you were all waiting for, is that we are FINALLY getting close to the game's release! It will be in February 2022. We can't wait to show you the final version of this game, which has evolved a lot since we started working on it in 2015... This final version will contain many minor changes compared to the old demos you could test in the past, and especially four major additions that truly flesh out the experience: Many new levels introducing mechanics you've never seen before in Time Rift! A whole story to discover and enjoy, thanks to Lorraine Ansell's superb voice-over More variety in the types of levels, while some levels are more oriented towards action and speed, others are more calm and focused on reflection. Accessibility options to help make the game as enjoyable as possible for everyone. The game is already a good mix between action and puzzle, but, this way, if you're less at ease with either one, you won't be penalized and you will still be able to move forward and discover the whole story. For more information, you can watch our new trailer and check out the new game description on our Steam page. We gave it a little makeover~ Finally, we are happy to announce our partnership with IndieArk, who will translate and promote Time Rift in China! See you soon!Next Fest + Live Stream!Jun 15, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey Time Rifters, We've got some news for you! Time Rift will be participating to Steam Next Fest, meaning you'll get to play a brand new demo of Time Rift from June 16th to June 22nd! If you've played last year's demo, you're in for quite the surprise narration-wise~ As part of the Festival, we'll also be hosting a livestream on June 18th 7pm CEST! See you there! Some news from Speedjail!Jul 8, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHello Timerifters! I’m Simon, the creative director behind Time Rift! We wanted to share with you a small message from the team here! So, for those of you who have been following Time Rift since we launched it on Gamejolt, you might remember there were only 2 of us back then, since it was a student project at first. Now, a few years later, the project has become way more ambitious! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/870dbe0b7e5eb0514ba9eef95afed711e66f46c7.png Abiding Bridge We’re super lucky to have Abiding Bridge as our publisher. They allow us to bring the game to you here on Steam but also on other platforms and events. It is the perfect company to work with to sell a first game even if we did not create any company ourselves and we are pretty new in the industry. That is why they also help us with the administrative work to find a way to share the future financial income of the game. They also manage the communication and find partners to help us during this adventure. Abiding bridge also help to raise the quality of the game with the input of playtests to ensure everything is fine with the levels, the game mechanics understanding, etc. Finally, their producer helps a lot with the team efficiency since we work together. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/44e995cc9b146ca47c4aa93f5e70fbef89c69584.png Thank you! As you may have seen, Time Rift was featured in the Steam Game Fesitval! Thanks to this, a lot of players saw our page and tried our demo! We even got a lot of new wishlists, as well as new members in our community. It's weird to think that our small project we made at our school got noticed by so many people, and that they even liked it! So, from all of us at Lightshards and Abiding Bridge, THANK YOU! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/30829428a83654a006bfe9bbb9137b0191845273.png What’s next for the game? As I’m sure a lot of you will want to hear about the release date, we can’t announce it just yet. With Abiding bridge, we want the game to be up to our standards. This means that we still have long months of development ahead of us. The first step will be to arrange all the levels we have already created and still work on the core of the game to reach the best quality. Thankfully, all the feedback we got during the festival will help a lot :) We will also add all the settings to be sure it is easy to access and play for everyone. The second thing to do will be to choose the community features we want to add like leaderboards or level editing and see if it is a good addition to the game. Stay safe Time Rifters!Time Rift – Demo AvailableJun 16, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsWhat is Time Rift? Time Rift is a fast-paced puzzle-shooter, crash through causality and rewind time to escape from the 60 stages of Speedjail. Thinking fast, avoiding traps and a steady aim will only get you so far - to beat Time Rift you’ll have to manipulate the flow of time! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/5b36fdba01db38ff9f9b01539d765a46b225047d.png The only way to escape from Speedjail is to bend the very fabric of the universe. Thinking fast, avoiding traps and steady aim will only get you so far: To beat Time Rift you’ll have to manipulate the flow of time! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/bc1ff6cce7f2788c22f7ad1d68ed4a77bc9dd7bc.png You’re trapped in Speedjail, an environment constantly moving in one direction that is deadly to the touch. The only way to survive is to shoot your way through enemies, navigate through narrow mazes and change the jail’s direction of movement in mind-bending puzzles - all under intense time pressure. A feat that would be almost impossible were it not for 3Li4, the ship's artificial intelligence, that gives you the ability to manipulate and even rewind time. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/794c1e9ccb838ffe573488605993cd9eb620fd0b.png A demo! What inspired this retro universe? Who made the game’s rad soundtrack? To answer all the questions you may have while playing the demo, we’ll be hosting an Ask Me Anything session on our Discord server. The developers will be there to satisfy your curiosity, hear your feedback (which is always welcome) and simply talk about the game/have a good time! Set a reminder and don’t hesitate to come hang with us :) Here's an early invite link Our intentionsApr 29, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsOur intentions Hi! I am Simon and I’ve been working on Time Rift for five years now. Today I want to share with you the very beginning of the production and what we wanted to achieve with it. Our intentions at the beginning Our main goal at first was to create something really challenging like a two dimensional spaceships race. To prototype that we used the mechanics of the shoot’em up games but with a twist. We felt that there are a lot of arcade shmups out there and in some ways they are quite similar. Some have a horizontal scrolling like R-Type, some have a vertical scrolling like Raiden and all the good old arcade games. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/401b30717bf634b8ae4c520337aecda76b57df99.jpg We thought the shoot’em up genre is really niche, not a lot of people are into it but they strongly love it. We wanted to open up this type of game and show something different to the other players. What we wanted to do was to get inspired by those developers who tried to twist those rules and try something new with their games, like Geometry Wars, Resogun and Streredenn for example. So our choice was to break this scrolling rule and make it switchable, so the players can finally change the direction and react to what is in front of them now. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/9589b6d782bf9879dd3b8f1fc2b989c761bd0d8d.png Our intentions as students When we began to work on the game, it was the very beginning of our video games studies. We had done some other projects before with other classmates and a lot of constraints of time or subjects. What we wanted was to work freely together during our own time. We didn’t want to just create something to learn how to do it but the goal was to build something we would enjoy, something which would be ours. I think that this feeling of freedom was really important, we enjoyed ourselves as we were doing it and trying to make people have fun as much as possible when playing it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/39ad5c5c134f640ceaee76a0ad91152ac5c26665.jpg I think that watching our friends, classmates and teachers having fun with the game was a huge step for us to keep on working on it and have a strong confidence in the rest of our studies. Our intentions during the development So after finishing university, we wanted to keep on working on Time Rift as young graduates. We were now trying to make it a “professional” game, adding some features, removing a lot, trying to find an elegant design. The most important feature we added was definitely the rewind. At this point the game was a hard mix of intense shooting phases and brain damage puzzles. We loved it that way but failing a lot and come back to the last checkpoint was just a fun breaker, we wanted it to be fast and relentless. So we added this time manipulation mechanic, even building some puzzles around it and we found something really interesting here. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37293052/56ed0915c604a3f890c5d46c7030f8c69a3581eb.png It was such a milestone for our development. At that...
