We've got something that will refill your need for the sun to rise. The Tribe Must Survive, our Lovecraft-inspired colony survival is now 30% off! Just two weeks ago we launched the Explorer Update, adding a more relaxed game mode that lets you take on the darkness at your own pace. In addition we added 15 new achievements, many of them focusing on what the community has named the "Impossible Strategies", seemingly contradictory ways of completing the game that only the most skilled players would dare to try. If you already part of the game's community, this is the perfect opportunity to spread some dread to your friends. Check out the summer sale here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1729940/The_Tribe_Must_Survive/Explorer Update (v 1.1.7) - Patch NotesJun 13, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTribe Leaders, We seriously consider all the feedback we receive when planning our updates. Much of the feedback we have gotten since launch was about the game being too hard and sometimes even frustrating for new players. At the same time we also see that there are a number of players that have become incredibly good at the game, to the point where they have beaten all Challenge Levels and Achievements, and have Tribes with hundreds of Members and thousands of resources. So we decided that with today’s Explorer Update we should make the game both easier and harder! To achieve these mildly paradoxical goals we have introduced a new game mode, while also adding 3 new Challenge Levels and 15 new Achievements. Explorer Mode A new “Explorer Mode” has now been added as a choice when you start a new run. Explorer Mode offers a more relaxed way of playing The Tribe Must Survive, which is ideal for new and experienced players alike, to get more familiar with the game. There are no Disasters, Inner Conflicts, Act Perks, or Challenge Level modifiers, offering the opportunity to learn and experiment with the game’s core mechanics at one’s own pace. There is still a plethora of decisions for Tribe Leaders to make through in-game Events and through the ways you grow your Tribe. While this new mode offers a more forgiving gameplay experience, there are still elements that can go wrong, leaving the Tribe starving for Wood or Food for long periods of time. The Tribe Population on Explorer Mode is capped at 300 Tribe members. Achievements cannot be unlocked in Explorer Mode, but there is permanent XP gain at a reduced rate, to help you work towards unlocking the next perk. Whenever you feel up for it, you can return to the compelling survival experience we know and love, by selecting “Survival Mode” when starting a new adventure. This game mode is how The Tribe Must Survive is intended to be played. Prepare to still die a lot as you find a way to overcome all five Disasters. The Challenge Levels and Achievements are unlockable in this game mode only. 15 New Achievements Show off your mastery of strategic choices by attempting to unlock some of the 15 new Achievements added to the game. These Achievements do require a thorough understanding of the game and can sometimes hint at contradictory strategies. Can you survive the Locust Disaster without building any Hunter's Halls? How can one unlock all Building Upgrades in a single run? When there’s a will, there’s a way and nothing can stop a pioneering Tribe from surviving. All the above, plus the usual list of tweaks and bug fixes are now available with the new update. Take a look at the full list of changes below: Patch Notes New Content Added Explorer Mode, alongside the default experience, now called “Survival Mode”. 15 new Achievements - Some are very hard, some even harder! 3 new Challenge Levels: Level 8: Maximum Number of Trees per Tile -2 (5 —> 3) Level 9: Tolerance and Stability is capped at +1 Level 10: Ch...May Patch v1.0.18 - Patch NotesMay 31, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello Tribe Leaders, Thank you so much for your support and attention to the 1.0 Release last week! In just two more days, we’ll be celebrating the full release of The Tribe Must Survive. Join us to celebrate the dawn of our game! - The Tribe Must Survive teamDeveloper Deep Dive - 1.0 ProgressionMay 17, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHey Tribe Leaders, It’s time to gather around the safety of the campfire and let us share some stories with you about the future; specifically one big change that is coming with the 1.0 version of The Tribe Must Survive, which is set to release May 23, 2024. In this Developer Deep Dive, we want to take the time to highlight one of the extensive changes coming to the game. The team has been hard at work refining the game based on community feedback from the Early Access phase, so we wanted to share that with you all. If this is the first time you’re checking out The Tribe Must Survive, don’t worry, because we also want to make sure you’re able to follow along this journey with us and get more insight about the game and the work that goes on behind the scenes. We hope you enjoy it, and it gives you a better understanding of the game’s systems. Your First StepsFor the uninitiated, jumping into a game like ours for the first time can sometimes be a daunting challenge. There are a variety of systems to master, challenges to overcome, and often concepts to wrap your head around. The Tribe Must Survive is a deep, cerebral game that challenges how you approach tribe management and handle the events that can occur throughout a playthrough. One of the major improvements we’ve added to the 1.0 release version of the game is the Species Goals which will help to give those of you taking your first steps a set of goals to strive toward in the early stages. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41589975/e877e4982f90989cc9a33560fd69fe28d3311b76.png Alongside this, is the level-based progression that gradually introduces new features, perks, and bonuses. Our aim is to create a ramp effect to gradually step up the depth. Your efforts during each run will provide you with Score points that contribute to your Player Level. Completing one Level is rewarded by a boon that can help you in your next run. There are a total of 20 Levels to unlock. We are a rogue-lite experience, meaning failure is a core part of the learning process and evolving your strategy. Do not be discouraged; mastery is a key component of the overall experience. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41589975/98be281c3da098be30dfef6b6570cdb8af2db8cd.png For The WizenedWe have one more surprise coming to 1.0, which is not for the faint-hearted: the new Challenge Levels! Once you’ve proven your talent as a Tribe Leader and had your first Tribe survive through their first 100 days, you can unlock the ability to play the game again, but with a new challenging twist that was not there the first time around. Beating the game again, unlocks the next Challenge Level and so on. There are a total of 7 Challenge Levels to beat, each one incrementally adding a new challenging modifier to endure, on top of the ones that came before. It’s been a lot of fun to see Tribe Leaders challenging each other during Early Access, sharing knowledge on Discord and pushing themselves forward into optimizing their runs. We hope this new set of tough challenges wil...May Hotfix - v0.43.5May 3, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTribe Leaders, Thank you so much for your support and attention to the latest update, we are so excited to see the positive reception of the improvements we are making. As always your feedback is really appreciated in helping us build the best possible version of the game! Here are the fixes we have implemented based on the issues you have flagged: Fixed an issue where players with old save-games might not be able to load into the new version Fixed an issue where Tribe Members could starve even if there is food available. Base on your Feedback we looked into the various edge cases in the Tribe Member behaviour again and found the case where they would go to sleep while having the Starvation Perk active and therefore could starve while not being “in-shock” and while food is available. As always, don’t hesitate to join in our Discord server and leave a review about the game on Steam. We are very excited to hear your thoughts about the upcoming additions and we cannot wait for you to experience them yourselves! And remember; whatever it takes... The Tribe Must Survive! - The Tribe Must Survive Team https://store.steampowered.com/app/1729940/The_Tribe_Must_Survive/ May Update - Patch v0.43.4May 2, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTribe Leaders, A new dawn breaks over your tribes, and with those first rays of sunlight comes hope - and a patch. The hope, you’ll have to manage on your own, but for the patch notes, we got your back. This update focuses heavily on replayability and balancing difficulty throughout the game’s acts. We’re just one more month away from the full release and are so excited to have you with us this far on our journey. Make sure to check in on the game and get a feel for all the changes before the 1.0 release! Without further ado, let’s have a look at the changes coming in the May update. Patch Notes Discontent & Tribe Growth A series of act modifier effects have been introduced that multiplies the discontent from unsatisfied needs (Act 2: x1.15 / Act 3: x1.3 / Act 4: x1.5 / Act 5: x2) Additionally, tribe growth is cut down in Act 5 by 90%. A base tribe growth change has been introduced, that roughly translates to 20% more tribe growth These changes result in more growth early and less growth late and basically no more growth during Act 5 (so no more cheesing the Cataclysm by outgrowing sacrifices) Outpost Pacing Required Journey steps to fully uncover an outer quadrant has been halved from 12 to 6 Outpost & Trade Caravan speed has been increased greatly Outer Quadrant resource spawn locations have been pulled together a bit Animal herds have gotten a Map icon, so you can consider them in your outpost placement A series of exploration centered events has been added that can aid in uncovering the ideal quadrant for your strategy Starvation Perk Starvation has a much longer grace period before it can kill someone (from ~half a day to a full day) and scales a bit slower. Shock is much less deadly as a consequence Forest Regrowth Forests can now regrow (slowly) even if you cut them down completely Overall regrowth has been accelerated a bit in the baseline by tweaking various factors The Forestry building upgrade might seem nerfed on paper (from 75% to 50%), but it now applies to all growth factors Overall you can push the forest boundary slightly slower now, and careful management of your forests can increase your wood economy significantly Interactions / Opinions / Inner Conflicts We have made a number of changes to the Interactions Simulation between Tribe Member to improve the way Factions form and grow. This should enable Inner Conflicts to happen more regularly. The Tribe member opinions now do not gravitate to all positive opinions anymore. This should provide a more diverse opinion landscape that sets the stage for various Inner Conflicts. It is still very much work in progress, as we are waiting to see how these changes affect your runs. There will be an additional batch of content and balancing changes for this in the 1.0 launch. Building Upgrades Added Trade Upgrades Did changes to many Tier 2, Tier 3, Tier 4 upgrades to make specifically late-game upgrades more impactful Adjusted the cost for Tier 3 and Tier 4 to account for different play-sty...Price increased for 1.0Apr 12, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTribe Leaders, As previously mentioned when talking about the Supporter Bundle and the Lovecraftian Sale, the price for The Tribe Must Survive would increase today in preparation for the 1.0 release of the game. While we endure that wait, we have a new update to improve your tribal life. This update will have added some difficulty into the game, but we have also focused on better-explaining systems and features, making the game more fair and intuitive. New Fear and Fire settings make related mechanics more fun to play. You can speed up the removal of Shock from tribe members, if you can afford the wood. Per community request, added resource consumption information showing them above the stockpile and granary. We’re making Outposts and Trade routes more important and faster to build. We’re thrilled with how this update turned out, and believe it makes for the best version of the game so far. The changes made enable additional strategic gameplay for new and experienced Tribe leaders alike. So please try it and let us know what you think! Patch Notes General Improved pacing with a bigger impact to high Fear levels. Added new events that can escalate situations, if problems are not dealt with. This will prevent slow declines into an inevitable end and allow for a faster restart. Added visual changes for each act; the days get darker as the game goes on. Supports the changes made to fear and light levels. Fixed a bug where sacrificing a Tribe member during the Cataclysm (Act 5) would prevent tentacles from abducting other Tribe members in the dark. Visual improvement to the Light Map Mode and tree regrowth. Fire, Fear and Light levels Fear will now scale per game act, becoming more challenging as the game progresses. Rebalancing of Fear value changes per Light level: Light level 0: from 1.25 to 1.1 per hour Light level 1: from 0.416 to 0.5 per hour Light level 2: from -0.416 to -0.1 per hour Light level 3: from -1.25 to -0.7 per hour Light level 4: from -2.084 to -1.3 per hour Light level 5: from -2.084 to -1.9 per hour Light level 6: from -2.084 to -2.5 per hour Light level 7: from -2.084 to -3.1 per hourAdded a series of new perks to balance the change in Fear values per Light level. Consider what he’d think to have your name synonymous with a whole genre of entertainment across games, books, and TV. To have inspired enough creators to allow a themed sale on the most prominent games platform in the world, one wonders what he may think. The Tribe Must Survive! - The Tribe Must Survive Team Development RoadmapMar 14, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGather around the fire, Tribe Leaders! We want to start by thanking you all for the amazing support you’ve shown us during the Early Access period! The tribe continues to grow with the game currently sitting at a Very Positive review score on Steam, and we’ve already received some great feedback via Discord, the Steam forums, and our social channels. As you are now part of our burgeoning tribe, we wanted to let you in on the plans for the 3 updates ahead of the 1.0 launch. While these updates will each have a focus, they will also contain several smaller fixes and adjustments reported by the community so far. Some notable changes are: March Update This update focuses on making some core features line up better with player expectations. Predominantly: The chance of death by the “Starving” Perk has been adjusted, so that Tribe Members do not perish as fast The Fear values for when Tribe Members go in and out of shock have been adjusted “In Shock” is now a Perk, to make it easier to identify. For a full list of Patch Notes, check out this post. April Update This update aims for a smoother experience based on some of the issues the community has brought to our attention. Notable changes: Improved ‘Fire Light’ mechanics Clarifying the fire radius Improved impact of Fire on people in shockGameplay adjustments that increase relevance of late game mechanics. Focus on ‘Outposts’ through: Making setting up of ‘Outpost’ more urgent Making ‘Outpost’ resources more relevant Simplifying the process of setting up ‘Outposts’ and ‘Trade Routes’, to compliment those changes May Update The main goal with this update is to improve the game's replayability. Balancing and adjusting systems such as ‘Interactions’, ‘Factions’, ‘Inner Conflicts’ to make them deeper and more meaningful Improve Tree growth visibility The trees grow! We promise, they just do so slowly. We’ll improve the speed at which trees regrow as well as adjusting the visuals to make it more clear that they are regrowing. The road to 1.0 After these updates we’ll be preparing for the 1.0 release. We’re intentionally leaving this period open to adjust to what we feel will have the most impact in the finished game, as well as to account for feedback from the community on the most critical parts of balancing. We have plenty of things we want to do, depending on time. We want to deepen existing systems, improve the value of replayability and should we have time to spare, add more content! We've illustrated our roadmap here, and we plan to keep you up to date with newer versions of this roadmap throughout the development. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41589975/d87cb035cb9f02dbac95953ffd70122fefddb9d3.png We’re active in our Discord server and on Steam discussions where we take in all the feedback that is given, so feel free to join in with the discussions! Even if you just want to make us laugh at a Tribe related meme, that’s more than welcome! And remember; whatever it takes... The Tribe Must Survive! - The Tribe Must...Patch v0.41.1Mar 14, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsTribe Leaders, We're excited to share a glimpse at the roadmap for what lies ahead for the Tribe Must Survive. Check out this post to read all about it. If you're more interested in the changelog for today's patch, keep reading here. The team has made adjustments to the "In-Shock" state to make it less confusing for new players. This means tweaking the Fear values and also making it a Perk so it's easier to find out what is going on when clicking on the affected Tribe Members. We have also adjusted the chance of death by the "Starving" Perk, so tribe members won't perish when the Food Need drops to -3. This should ensure that Tribe Members don't starve anymore while there is Food available, unless they are In-Shock or otherwise blocked from getting to the Granary. Patch Notes General Adjusted chance of death from "Starving" Perk, so Tribe Members cannot perish immediately. Death chance now increases with time until the Perk is removed. The final Yellow Upgrade now works as intended. Trade passengers now wait at the Trade Depot, to make Trade Routes more timely and predictable. Fear & Shock Adjusted Fear values for when Tribe Members go in and out of shock. "In-Shock" state is now a Perk, to make it easier to identify. Bug Fixes Fixed a bug where some event popups would not have SFX. Fixed a bug where the Rock in the bottom menu bar would display the wrong icon after the Eclipse. Fixed a bug where the Intro-Cutscene did not react to the sound settings. Fixed a bug where the game froze for a few seconds at the start of Act 5. Fixed some more bugs that were happening behind the scenes.
