One a day, every day, perhaps for all time… The Stillness of the Wind looks like it should be the cosiest game in the history of forever. Composed of big, bright primary colours that look like they’ve been stitched together to form a warm, snuggly quilt, this is a game about an old lady and her goats. Yes, there are chickens as well, but really, it’s the goats you’ll come to care for most. They’re your pride and joy on this farm, and you’ll spend a good portion of every day petting them, milking them and turning said milk into delicious wheels of cheese that you can trade with the local pedlar that drops by every now and again at your idyllic ranch. But then the crows turn up. The stream will appear on the Store Page. The Stillness of the Wind, a farming sim meditation on life and loss, is now on SteamFeb 8, 2019 - PC GamerThe Stillness of the Wind is a "minimalist, melancholy farming sim about a goat-herding grandma," as Austin put it last year, that follows on Where the Goats Are, also a minimalist, melancholy farming sim, but about a different goat-herding grandma. It tells the story of Talma, who in her final years tends her small homestead as she always has, living a simple, solitary way of life.  "Breed and look after your goats, make cheese from their milk, grow vegetables, water your plants, collect eggs, scare off the birds. It’s a hard but simple life of peaceful subsistence," the Steam listing says. "Trade cheese and other items in return for hay for your goats, seeds to plant, fables, exotic items and shotgun shells, whilst exchanging conversation with the travelling merchant, your only human interaction."  The farming sim elements are very similar to Where the Goats Are, but it's the underlying narrative that makes The Stillness of the Wind intriguing. Talma's village has slowly shrunk over the years, as the people left, one by one, for life in the city. Now only she remains, subsisting in a lonely life—but the "increasingly disturbing" letters she receives from her far-away family suggest that not all is well in their new lives.  Solo developer Coyan Cardenas, aka Memory of God, said last year that The Stillness of the Wind will expand on the concepts established in Where the Goats are, and there does seem to be a more overt narrative effort on display here. "Nostalgia, a sense of loss and home are the main themes running throughout the narrative of the game. It’s my hope that players develop a meta-nostalgia for how things were—a kind of literal manifestation of 'golden memories'," Cardenas said. "For me, The Stillness of the Wind is about developing a more connected sense of ourselves."  The Stillness of the Wind is available now on Steam for $11/£8.50/€9—15 percent off the regular price—until February 14.    The Stillness Of The Wind melancholically launches todayFeb 7, 2019 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunGoat-herding depression simulator The Stillness Of The Wind is out now. Followup to the free Where The Goats Are by Lambic Studios, it’s ostensibly a game about farming, but a million miles from Stardew Valley’s industriousness. Players control Talma, a little old lady living out in the middle of nowhere, tending to her small herd of goats and living out her twilight days in near-solitude. If it’s anything like its predecessor, expect hints of tragedy and the creeping sense of unease that comes from quiet isolation. See the launch trailer below, but there’s no need to rush. (more…) Available Now 🐐🧀Feb 7, 2019 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32557131/62fb2bd1a0c767e34c305554f3da74fac07e2260.png The Stillness of the Wind is now available for $12.99 on Steam! To those who have already purchased the game, THANK YOU! We’re very grateful to everyone’s support so far ❤ And to our new goat farmers, welcome to the end of days. Have some cheese. Talma is an elderly goat farmer approaching the end of her days—perhaps the end of everything. In this melancholic game following Talma’s story over the course of several days, you are invited to milk your goats, make cheese, collect eggs, grow vegetables, and protect your herd—all while considering an existential question: when there is no longer hope, how will you pass your final days?Stark and beautiful, The Stillness of the Wind is a game of rare graceFeb 6, 2019 - EurogamerThere's not much to The Stillness of the Wind, a slim, ethereal and wilfully arty survival game that's just launched on Switch, PC and iOS. There's not very much to it at all. You're Talma, an elderly woman who's seen her friends and family slowly depart for the city over time, leaving her alone to tend to a farm shared by a handful of chickens and a couple of wiry goats. It's a small, sparse space, bordered by tatty picket fences that don't do much to keep the encroaching desert out. Beyond those fences, amidst those sands, there's nothing save a few rocks and, after a handful of days, some sprouting mushrooms. And those days are spent doing not very much at all. You can plant crops and tend to them, perhaps see to the chickens and collect any eggs, or take milk from the goats and head to the small outhouse to make cheese. You can take those goods and trade with the traveller that stops by every evening to gossip and pass on mail from the city. It's Stardew Valley, stripped back and dosed up to dozing point on mogadon. Or, you could do none of that; go for a wander in the desert, perhaps, or take the stick that sits in your tatty front garden and drag it through the sand, drawing crude pictures as you go. I picked up that stick some two hours into The Stillness of the Wind, having begun to feel frustrated at its lack of drive or urgency, at its reluctance to give me any sense or idea what to actually do. And when I dragged that stick out through the front garden, opened up the fence and decided to set about my own adventure out in the barren wilds, something strange happened. Talma, who'd been near mute the entire time, began to laugh; a playful, disarmingly natural sort of laugh that took glassy eyes of boredom and in an instant managed to prick them with tears.
