The Looker

Update - 9/16/2022Sep 16, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsThis update is a bit heftier than others because a number of changes have been made. Several features have been added, some of which players have been requesting and some of which are for sheer entertainment value. Most significantly, the game is now available on MacOS, is fully subtitled, and has a couple of basic quality-of-life options. If you have been enjoying The Looker and would like to see more about the developer, follow Subcreation Studio on Twitter, visit subcreationstudio.com, or send an email to [email protected] By popular demand, the player can now press the Space Bar to Jump. Subtitles (in English) have been added for all voiced dialogue. A new puzzle has been added at the entrance to the labyrinth. The puzzles in the labyrinth book have been slightly altered to make them slightly more understandable. An Invert Y-Axis option has been added. The ability to widen the Field Of View has been added (the default value is still recommended for puzzle readability, but increasing FOV may help with motion sickness.) A basic ability to adjust mouselook sensitivity has been added to the pause menu. The puzzle at the entrance of the chess terrace has been modified to correct an issue where the player's line would leave small, imperceptible gaps. A minor optimization has been made that slightly reduces load times. An issue has been fixed that may have caused some displays to show colors incorrectly. - Bradley Lovell Subcreation StudioPatch Notes for 6/25/2022Jun 25, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsI fixed a problem where the final puzzle occasionally allowed wrong solutions. As a convenience, several checkpoints have been added throughout the game that auto-save the player's progress. Since the solution to a major puzzle in the courtyard was unclear, I have added an additional puzzle to help make the rules more understandable before that point. I have added backwards compatibility for save files, so this update should not break saved games. The application now closes faster. A problem has been fixed in the gaming lounge where a scoreboard would occasionally block the player's ability to draw. A minor cosmetic change has been made to make the final puzzle slightly more readable. Patch Notes for 6/21/2022Jun 20, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsBecause two late-game puzzle screens have caused many player-drawn lines to have small, imperceptible gaps in them, these puzzle screens have been modified to be slightly more readable and forgiving. The design of the book at the center of the labyrinth has been reworked to support a better flow through the puzzles. An issue has been fixed where attempting to save and quit the game before activating any audio recordings results in a saving screen that halts and just keeps spinning forever. The brutally difficult arcade puzzle has been slightly nerfed. A collider issue where the player could clip out of bounds near the cannons has been fixed. The volumes of the cannons and the gaming lounge music has been reduced.
