The Last Stand: Aftermath

Celebrating One Year of Aftermath with v1.2!Nov 16, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey there, Last Stand fans! Believe it or not, The Last Stand: Aftermath released one year ago today. We’re so grateful for all of your support since then and owe all our success to you for believing in our game. As thanks, we have a little something for you: Version 1.2 is out now! That’s right, we’re adding new content to celebrate our anniversary! You can now craft the following weapons at your workbench in-game: Hand Cannon, Big Baller, Spiked Cestus, Morning Star, and Steel Ball. Additionally, you can craft Ball Ammunition for your weapons as well as find the AE-50 pistol (along with all the new weapons) in your travels. Plus, we’ve added a grand total of seven new maps, two new types of locations (Oil Fields and Desert), and side roads to all Mountain maps that lead to desert-themed locations. Trading Cards This update also comes with the addition of Steam trading cards! Now you can collect five trading cards, along with six emojis and three backgrounds. Anniversary Discount In celebration of one year on Steam, The Last Stand: Aftermath will also be on sale for 35% off until the 21st. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1266840/The_Last_Stand_Aftermath/ Patch 1.1 is Out!Apr 11, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey all! We're very excited to be able to share our first content patch for The Last Stand: Aftermath! There are several new buildings to explore, a few new locations to discover, and three new weapons to collect and craft along the way. We've also added new upgrade levels for your backpacks. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/4222ee2dac034b6cd8e89daec3e790d101c4ad96.png With this patch we wanted to address some issues that have been hanging around since launch, namely the inventory and encumbrance, also the problematic Gear Insurance. At the same time we wanted to make weight management feel more consequential and less of a hassle. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/7b029968d73c41c3ae62a0a5bd39a9128497e39d.png Part of that is the introduction of Sector Stashes. These act as 3 separate containers that will appear near the beginning of the areas after you leave the Suburbs. Each one can store a significant amount of items and allows you to pre-plan a little by stocking up in the field if you have excess items or feel like a run is going poorly. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/90d944104798d5c99d7ac3a5f02cc4e5e9c1040a.png Your encumbrance now affects your movement speed gradually as you take on more weight on top of the increased stamina use. If you’re overloaded, check the bottom left of your inventory to see how you’re being affected. Upgrading your backpack or unloading some items into a Stash will help alleviate the problem. Lastly, we also included some minor fixes here and there for a number of map-related issues. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/df4c162f01e799890fe63757950865a380fde5a3.png Huge thanks to everyone who played our test branch, as that feedback was invaluable in validating a lot of our design decisions. As a big thank you to the community and in honor of this milestone, we're putting the game on sale for its steepest discount yet at 25% for the next few days, so if you haven't picked it up yet, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better time. Thank you! ----- Patch 1.1 Notes: Major Changes: - Introduction of new encumbrance system. Base weight limit has been raised slightly to 50 and we have introduced a 4 stage encumbrance that slowly reduces your movement speed and increases stamina cost as you carry more over your limit. - To counteract the encumbrance - we've added new backpack levels and also introduced Sector Stashes - Sector Stashes allow players in the Mountains, Sunken City and Hell areas to stash away some items that can be recovered there later. Each stash is specific to its sector and items remain there until removed by the player. - Various fixes to inaccessible fuel canisters across maps and buildings - New commercial buildings added - Pawn shop, Hardware Store and a new Clinic - New maps added to each sector (with the exception of Hell): ++ Military Base 2 in Suburbs ++ Farm 2 in Mountains ++ Park 2 in Sunken City - Merchants now hold more Knowledge to trade with - Gear Insurance has been removed from the game - if you've got it on your curr...Patch 1.02 Released!Dec 21, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey all! The response has been truly staggering and we can't thank you all enough for being a part of it. With the game now finally out, we're working harder than ever to deliver updates and fixes as quickly as we can. We're listening to all your feedback and working closely with our testing team to reproduce and fix the issues as quickly as we can. To help keep everything organized, we made a list of known bugs for all platforms and if it's here you can be sure that we're working to resolve it. Some of these issues are pretty complicated, so we appreciate your patience as we work to get them all fixed up. Patches for all platforms are in the works and we'll keep you up to date on their progress. Please note that because of approval processes associated with patches, consoles may take a little while to have their updates go out, but know that these are a top priority for us. We look forward to resolve all these issues so everyone can play the game the way it was meant to be played and want to thank you all again for everything! The Last Stand: Aftermath is Out Now!Nov 16, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/b03618cc625acec45180b4e2556f44aaeca14724.png After four and a half years of development, we can't begin to describe how thrilled we are to be able to say that The Last Stand: Aftermath is now live! There are too many people to thank and too many stories about development to tell, but for now we just hope all of you find some joy in this game that we've put so much into. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/4364c81f194c5e6405dbd94fd14ff023f69fea8c.png While we do want to keep this short and sweet, we wanted to make sure to thank all of you in helping make this game a reality. The Steam community has been absolutely invaluable in your constant support and enthusiasm. The feedback we received on our public demo was crucial in making Aftermath into the game it is today. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/a2dbb6ef2fff939e9b0ae4c8c91fdab2694b561a.png While we're obviously focused on Aftermath's launch today, this is just as much of a celebration of the almost decade and a half (!!!) old franchise and the amazing community that has formed around it. To that end, we're excited to be able to offer a bundle that combines all single-player TLS games. You can get the The Last Stand Bundle which contains Aftermath and The Last Stand: Legacy Collection for 10% right now! If you already own Legacy Collection, then you can finish the bundle to get a cool 10% off Aftermath! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/aba252db0122ec60837711312723b664377607de.png We could drone on with sappy platitudes all day, but we're really just thrilled to finally be able to share the fruits of our labor with all of you and we hope you enjoy! The Last Stand: Aftermath Release Date Announcement + New TrailerOct 14, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/6e2c7324335769d3550f19233224331a52ebe479.png Big news for you all: The Last Stand: Aftermath will be releasing on PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on November 16, 2021! We’re so glad to share this date with you and can’t wait for you all to finally get your hands on it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/e91043baed1ea969e476f6c767fb16242b3d7d29.png To celebrate this announcement, we also have a brand-new trailer for you all! This one’s super atmospheric, and we can’t get enough of it. Check it out here. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/0f74b13a15b0369d9121d02769e4c49700f607ac.png And with the game’s release approaching soon, we just want to say thanks for your support since we ran our Kickstarter last year (and special thanks to all of you long-time fans of the Last Stand series for making this possible). We really couldn’t have done it without you all. Hope you all find the final game is worth the wait! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/bd1cbc005c558a284cf53a6b76a1d81dd43a544c.png By the way, if you haven’t yet, go wishlist us on Steam if you haven’t so you get notified when the game launches on November 16! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1266840/The_Last_Stand_Aftermath/ Everything's Coming TogetherAug 24, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Got another round of exciting updates for all of you. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/87e5d73e5b2a370d7ad812073816ff79fbea6bba.png After 4 long years of development, the main storyline is complete. It’s been a fun challenge writing a story that expects its main character to die and be replaced over and over again. We hope you folks enjoy it! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/18cf05d6c45e932311c32119842e5177e207f1b9.png On that note, finishing the storyline has left us time to track down the remaining bugs and do more gameplay balancing. We’ve also optimized how the game runs, so hopefully those of you with older machines who had trouble with the demo will see some improvements there. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/a8533e9a2248e220fe52ca83b7d781e41b3f761b.png The soundtrack is officially complete as well! We just signed off on the last pieces of music last week. Sean Tinnion and Matt Mclean have put together something refreshingly special, and we can’t wait for you all to hear it. There will also be an OST for sale at some point in the future, but we’ll let you know about that when the time comes. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/668e1e954026bfc0287eff01dcd9a4cab8ea53fb.png Oh, and one more thing: we’ve decided to leave the demo for The Last Stand: Aftermath up just a bit longer. Tell your friends to give it a try before release!Aftermath is Coming Q4 of 2021 & Legacy Collection!Jul 15, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThe Last Stand: Aftermath will be out in Q4 of 2021 on PC, XBox Series S/X, PS4 and PS5. That’s right, The Last Stand is coming to consoles! We’re excited to bring it to the Xbox and PS platforms so that more people get to experience it. We built Aftermath with consoles in mind right from the beginning of production and it’s truly a dream come true. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/f46339b6a03cb802549403e716176a783eb77292.png We know Q4 is a big window - but we’ll have another announcement closer to the date when that falls into place. In the meantime we’ll be polishing and balancing the game, managing the console ports and preparing for launch. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/16fcd5659b0e3ead8f51d314c29f7c82b1e70c06.png In order to celebrate the upcoming release, we’re releasing The Last Stand Legacy Collection today! Yes, right now. Play the original Flash game trilogy in an enhanced collection, in full screen with AI upscaled graphics, save files and achievements on Steam. The Last Stand, The Last Stand 2 and the much loved The Last Stand: Union City are all included in the collection, looking and performing better than they ever did: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1615100/The_Last_Stand_Legacy_Collection/ {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/f7a1a5392720e73a1e44ce170b625a266086d3ce.png A huge thanks to Antony Lavelle (@the_exp) and Armor Games Studios for making the Legacy Collection happen. Their hard work allowed us to keep working on Aftermath while the collection came together. Finishing TouchesJun 24, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! We have some juicy development updates for y'all, but first things first we wanted to chat about the "release date"-shaped elephant in the room. When we started our kickstarter for the game almost a year ago (!!!), we estimated that we'd be launching the game this month. Development on the game is going extremely well, but for a few typical "video games take a lot of time to make" reasons as well as some "very exciting news we can't quite talk about yet" reasons, the launch is getting pushed out a bit. We greatly appreciate the support and understanding you all have shown us throughout development, as we just want to make the very best version of Aftermath for you all to play. We can say that we will have news on the new release date coming very soon. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/fea0cec90e33fac55303b93a2afe686e3288f4c7.png For the game's development, we're wrapping up the very last biome and are putting the final pieces of the story together. We don't want to get too far into it in order to avoid spoilers, but we can say that we're thrilled with how it's coming together and are confident that longtime fans of the series will appreciate how we're putting together the ending. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/a2e92d24f53d46756e33c61eeab76693c67da74d.png Knowing that beating the game once is never enough, we're working on adding new options for players once they've completed their first run. In addition to having upgrades and other unlocks show up in the Supply Depot, the game adds some new systems such as Hardships, which gradually increase your Threat Rating and allows you to gain reputation to put towards exclusive unlocks. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/7df34cfab1d373dd68303b43b06eb21c784c5441.png It wouldn't be an Aftermath update if we didn't also show off some new weaponry that you'll be able to wield against the undead hordes. Longtime fans of the series will be glad to see that the War Hammer is making an appearance in the game. A paradigm of simplicity, this chunk of concrete attached to a pole will stun almost any enemy that has the poor fortune of running into it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/2cdf24845feef67851925afdb5d26495467ef437.png Aside from all that, we're also tying together the last finishing touches that go into launching a game. One of the most exciting for us is that we're starting localization shortly, and fans will be able to play the game in German, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and Simplified Chinese in addition to English at launch. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/ef14382b7b37a0f7b2437277e3494f007b7f6bfe.png As we mentioned above, keep an eye out in this space for some very exciting announcements coming in the near future and thanks again for all the wonderful support while we work to get this game into your hands.Bringing Back the Demo for the Digital Dragons Indie Celebration!May 12, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! We have some really exciting news for you all this month! First things first, for folks who either missed the demo in February or wanted to be able to spend a bit more time with it, it is back right now! We're bringing it back to celebrate the fact that we are finalists in the Digital Dragons Indie Celebration running on Steam from May 13th to 14th. The demo will be available through the end of the weekend. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/5ad22eb047581b49c5ba6895809879bbec0d69bf.png On the development front, we've been hard at work fleshing out the rest of the content for the game. This includes wrapping up the main story as well as expanding on the content already in the game. Being a The Last Stand game, a big part of this is adding more weapons options. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/271bfd20449e22025502821295418095bc1b4c42.png For the first slew of new weapons, we're excited to add a whole new class of weapons in two handed melee weapons. These have a completely different feel from the faster and lighter melee you've seen in previous builds. Two handers are slower, more precise, but extremely powerful. Every swing is a big commitment with huge rewards if you're able to land the shot. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/2770968bc1d7c0d61896360585e1c5f0b9e8a28a.png We obviously couldn't add two handed weapons without bringing back some fan favorites. Dead Zone fans will recognize the Bloodluster and War Hammer, but we're spicing things up with some new options like the Gear Axe. For firearms, we've filled some gaps with the SR-110; a semi-auto marksman's rifle chambered in 7.62mm and the .45 Tactical Pistol, both of our design. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/74fae71c066b92cf657791b5824c29b1285b3e1e.png We're also going back and adding some top notch quality of life changes. The clearest example of this is Quick Travel. Once you've cleared a sector, you can now bypass locations assuming you have enough fuel to do so. It makes late-game runs feel a bit faster while still pressing you to make hard decisions around your fuel management. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/2fee4f97ec8343f73daf033f11bae179c6cf9a09.png Lastly, we've implemented a new system that allows us to apply more {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/271bfd20449e22025502821295418095bc1b4c42.png to enemies. Bleed, for example, can be caused by any bladed weapon. To add to this, we have a number of Mutations that gain benefits from attacking bleeding enemies. We're excited to see what synergies you can all build with them. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/71882d9f3c62d50cc719d01bba3f26c0e5861039.png As always, we're delighted to bring you along with the development and be able to show off all these new features that we're so excited about. There's a lot more going on that we're excited to be able to share with you over the next several months. The "Sunken City" UpdateApr 1, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! There are a ton of exciting things happening in the development of Aftermath, so we have a lot to share with you! First and foremost we want to thank everyone who checked out the demo during the Steam Game Festival! The response was immense in every sense of the word and while it's easy to be heads-down on a project and not know how the players are going to respond to it, the positive responses and thoughtful criticisms were extremely appreciated. This really put a positive gust in our sails as we're more confident than ever that we're making something you all are really going to love. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/8ac6e752874eb96ec46580f82cf7a59362c2cb2a.png Now for the info you've been looking forward to! This update will largely focus around the latest addition to the game: the Sunken City. As the third sector in the game, this update adds a ton of new content in addition to continuing the story further. The Sunken City, formally known as Leighton City, was ruined by flood at some point in the last 15 years. As a result, all the buildings are collapsing and the streets are filled with dark water. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/6e0166cc4aa17603eb61c9036e1b1e58cc39a6ac.png Along with the new location, we have a ton of new game content to share with you, including: New mutations like Synapses, which increases your EXP gain, and Energized, which restores your stamina when you take damage. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/c6595cbe4bfe339d828399f8756042005b16a7ec.png New enemy types! While we want to keep most of the details vague so you can be (pleasantly?) surprised when you play through yourself, we're delighted to let you know that the weapon-carrying infected from the previous games are back. New weapons! New enemies are going to require new solutions. Whether you're looking for something more explode-y like the Multi Grenade Launcher or something a bit more slice-y like the Katana, we've been hard at work adding a lot of fun new options. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/1562eb06313639e9c25780c7a4a073a4a75c58f7.png New areas! With the new sector come tons of new locations to explore: from water-logged city blocks to parks, and abandoned camps to commercial districts. New quests! We've added some new quest types and mechanics for this new area that we'll expand on as we keep adding more content. We're thrilled to have so much to share with you all. We couldn't imagine a more supportive and energized community which makes building out the game and sharing updates like this with you all the more rewarding.Steam Game Festival Demo Available Now!Feb 3, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! We have a lot of exciting development news to share with you, but as you've hopefully seen in this update title, we have some really great news we want to share with you all! A public demo of The Last Stand: Aftermath is available RIGHT NOW(!!) through February 9th. Please follow this link to check it out yourself: https://store.steampowered.com/app/1266840/The_Last_Stand_Aftermath/ {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/3e51a25d302a787937e486c57a3daa07106642d3.png With that wonderful news out of the way, we're pumped to share some details about how development is going. We had a lovely little break around the holidays, but things are back in full swing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/c27b4da56aab6e24a062db1b871cf17c83b851a7.png Currently, we're focused on adding more and more content to the game. This means more guns, more melee items and SO much environment design. These new areas have been super fun to flesh out as they require a lot of ruined structures: ruined stores, apartments, plazas, and more! Folding these locations into the world has been a great challenge, as some have been taken over by survivors, but others by the military. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/30ba5790dea67d8b077d0bac15544c66735cc1ef.png Fans of the series will be happy to see that the SCAR-H is making a triumphant return. This heavier hitting assault rifle adds a fun new option for players looking for something that packs a bit more punch. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/e66b1e7a65a81d5a82f3cd83a75b18bc0311cf71.png Last, but very certainly not least, we've added a brand new class of weapons: fist weapons! These are great for players who love to get in the thick of it but don't want to spend minutes punching a zombie to death again. You'll have to craft these for yourself, but they're worth it for the additional upgrades that you'll be able to make from the base set. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/179d5a92f16a4d827025da05685324c90f40194f.png That's about it for this update, but we wanted to thank you all, as always, for all your continued enthusiasm and support. We can't wait to see how you like the demo and hope you get a chance to check it out!2020 Wrapup!Dec 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! This has been an incredibly wild and exciting time for us while we continue work on Aftermath. We began our first closed beta at the beginning of the month, and while it’s terrifying to see folks tear apart the game, it’s been absolutely wonderful to see everyone so happily tear apart the game. There’s a long way to go with development yet, but the positive response so far confirms that we’re working on something really special. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/8bb7d9c8dace12cb26212d7c8c9ce4b02dd85da4.png One of the big changes we’re actively working on right now is adding the Supply Store to the game. The Supply System adds an additional currency and will modify and expand the role of Supply Caches and the XP level unlocking system. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/0a934ee7800be7278c1519adac80a266ca10587f.png In addition to the Supply Store, we’re cracking away at fleshing out the content for the later stages of the game. Our current focus is on the third sector, called “The Sunken City.” It features loads of new props and different types of terrain and we can’t wait to share more about it in the near future. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/f35fc8b9b5a1da4e7cfb0255836cc3205b300b0f.png Knowing that a TLS game isn’t a TLS game without some quintessential firearms, we’re bringing back a Dead Zone classic and adding the Sportshot rifle to the armory (although in a slightly different form). It’s large capacity and quick fire rate makes it a versatile tool to take care of all sorts of infected. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/6398f76785855098f4788fdbf0e35fda6def121f.png We sincerely hope that you all are able to have a wonderful end to a challenging year with whatever celebrations you are able to have. The fervent support and enthusiasm from this wonderful fanbase really put some wind in our sails this year and we can’t wait to share more with you in 2021.Kickstarter Update: We Did It!Oct 22, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsAs we write this, The Last Stand: Aftermath has finished its Kickstarter run at a whopping 120% of our goal. We are beyond blown away by all the support you have shown us, and we are incredibly humbled and grateful. Throughout the campaign, we regularly received comments and messages from people who grew up playing our Flash games online and remembered us from those days with fond memories. While these made us feel REALLY old, they also were incredibly touching and motivating. It means the world to us that we can make a game like this with your support. So, what's next? Well, if you pledged for a tier that grants beta access, our plan is to start rolling that out sometime in late November. We'll begin sending e-mails out to people to start collecting data both for this, and for any custom pledges you might have made. In the meantime, you can wishlist the game on Steam (even though you may have pledged for a copy, doing so still helps us immensely!), and join our Discord. We'll be rolling out with private channels for backers and beta testers in the future to interact with one another. For now, we'll settle for thanking you again. We can't wait to share more of the game with you, and for you to finally get to play it. Have an amazing weekend!Sunken City, Beta Balancing, and Kickstarter!Oct 12, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Happy Monday. Our Kickstarter has 9 days to go and we're at 56%! While the game will be completed no matter what, your support will help us improve it and polish it the way we want to. You can check us out on Kickstarter here to pledge for a copy of the game on release, or for other rewards like beta access, which will kick off in November. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/8fCToFfRbiRr40XA8TvL_TLSA-UseFlaresToDrawThemOut.gif Right now, the early portion of the game is going through QA to ensure it's properly stable for testers. The good thing about QA is that they break your game in ways you wouldn't think to try yourself ("If you equip and unequip a hammer at the crafting station on this map during a thunderstorm and then open and close the menu twice, the game freezes."), so as busy as we are with fixing everything, we know it's going to be worth it. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/TqpEuElkR3W2ZTEUeyDm_hercbunker.png A lot of our time right now is also going into trying to balance the game, which is always tricky for a roguelite. While you expect players are going to die (and death is of course part of the game's core loop), trying to ensure that the experience never feels unfair or unreasonable is still a challenge. We're tweaking enemy health and damage values, and also loot drops so you have a better chance of finding a more powerful weapon from time to time. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/76Rzj1uDRluB3IAi7gg6_inventory.png As we've mentioned before, a lot of the game is currently playable and will be ready for our testers in a few weeks. We're working on the latter half of the game currently, which includes two big new areas (each with an assortment of randomized maps to visit, so you'll see something different with subsequent playthroughs), and of course, the finale of the game. Here's a peek at one of the new places; we're calling it the Sunken City. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/dj709dVOSGmzHpJbyjIE_TLSA-SunkenCity-Run.gif In addition to new locations, we're also working on new enemy types, mutations, and more. It's a lot of work, but all the comments and messages we get, both from newcomers and those who grew up playing our games, are incredibly motivating. Thank you to everyone for your support, and we'll share more with you soon!Player Mutations and Kickstarter Final Weeks!Oct 9, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHappy Friday everyone! We're less than two weeks to the end of our Kickstarter for The Last Stand: Aftermath, and we have a ways to go. If you'd like to support it, or help spread the news, we'd greatly appreciate it! You can check us out here. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/T0lztkIDSPGiDndbJvXw_TLSA-Car-TimeToLeave.gif This week, we wanted to talk a bit about one of the game's core mechanics; mutations. As your character's infection level progresses, it cuts your maximum health, but it can also have potent benefits. When it reaches certain points, you'll be given a choice of several effects. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/82725c077696cf045b6a8aa27eaa7897c89f3655.png Maybe you want to be stronger at night, or hardier against poison? Or maybe you're sick of getting tossed around by bigger enemies like the Charger, and want to be able to dish it out yourself. There are a variety of mutations in the game right now, and we'll be adding in more as we ramp up to launch. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/GdcgJNEpSBiPuqXb8q9s_TLSA-ChargerMutation.gif Of course, the more mutations you have, the less overall health you have, which means it gets that much more dangerous to get into combat. You can find antiviral that can slow the infection, but it's not a cure. You'll want to balance how you handle the zombie virus inside you with your playstyle - do you want to slow it down as much as you can and rely on your own skills, or are you willing to take a risk for the increased power it gives you at the cost of your own humanity? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37649519/33bd87b20894147f94f3c832c31e5909258ee574.png As for us, we're continuing to work on polishing up the game for our beta testers when that kicks off later this year. There's already a lot of content to play through, but we want to ensure we have a solid, stable game for you to play around with. Thank you to everyone for all of your support thus far - both with this game, and all our other titles over the years! Have a great, safe weekend, and we'll check back soon with more news! http://files.armorgames.com/misc/w0S0SOQ8CabeGYo46Qsg_TLSA-PushTheBridge-Morning.gifKickstarter Update, and Game Progress!Sep 29, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! After a week, our Kickstarter is 23% funded. Thank you so much to everyone who has been supporting us and spreading the word! If you'd like to back the game, you can pledge for rewards like beta access as well as a copy of the game on release, so check out The Last Stand: Aftermath on Kickstarter here! In the meantime, work continues on the game. We've mentioned before that you'll visit a lot of different places, and right now we're working on the outer edges, so to speak. While you start out in the suburbs and city bordering your Colony, you'll venture to the forests, mountains, and beyond. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/qYkIw1RJRvKXJvhVN8Yq_TLSA-PushTheBridge-Morning.gif We're also working on fleshing out (heh) some of the zombies you'll encounter during the game. As the story opens, it's many years after the end of the world, but the zombie virus is suddenly turning much more aggressive and deadly. It's your task to head out into the world and find out why, but that means encountering some of the nastier things that have been mutated and gained some special abilities along the way. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/fr2wCS1ETS6mCHy1f5Bm_TLSA-BursterExplode.gif Of course, the overwhelming majority of the danger from the undead come from sheer numbers. Even when you're dealing with slow shamblers, you'll want to pay close attention to your surroundings and make use of things like cover, fire, and more to ensure you don't get overwhelmed. Just remember that zombies are nothing if not persistent, and they'll keep coming after you... even if it takes them a while to get there. http://files.armorgames.com/misc/2WwOLLtLRgSdc1j2Luf2_TLSA-SideStep-NightShoot-Fire.gif While the game is still launching next year, we're hard at work on polishing up the current build and beefing up the content for our beta testers to dig into. There's a lot to play through, and we hope that our community's feedback can help us improve on it as we go. We've been working on this game for years now as a small, two-person team, and it's incredibly exciting to be getting to the point where we can finally bring in testers. We hope you'll consider backing us on Kickstarter and sharing the news, and in the meantime, stay safe until the next update!New Gameplay Trailer and Kickstarter!Sep 22, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Today we're excited to debut our brand new gameplay trailer. It showcases a bunch of new enemies and areas, as well as (we hope!) more of the game's mechanics in depth. Check it out! You can see some of our new enemies in action, like the charger, and also some new areas and weapons. While the game isn't an open-world title, you can travel across the map to different locations as you find fuel for your car, and scavenge for supplies both for yourself and the colony you left behind. You'll need stealth, smarts, and a bit of luck since you're often outnumbered by the horde, but even if you die, you can just pick up the journey again with a new survivor who benefits from the progress of the last. The Last Stand: Aftermath is around 50-60% complete now; all the major systems are in place, and we're working on generating the rest of the content that will fill them out. This includes new areas, weapons, and enemies, and also will eventually close the loop on the story. Why has the zombie virus become suddenly more deadly after so long? You'll be able to find out... if you live long enough to make it there! While we're still marching towards our 2021 release date, we've also decided to go forward with a Kickstarter which launches... right now! If you want to support the game's development, you can also pledge for rewards like beta access and help shape the game with your feedback. We'll be entering closed beta roughly six weeks after the Kickstarter wraps in late October. Check out The Last Stand: Aftermath on Kickstarter today! We want to thank everyone for their continued support and enthusiasm. Seeing everyone so excited about this game is incredible, and we can't wait to share even more about it with you. Stay tuned!
