In the meantime, we're dropping an update with what's already good to go! Additions ADDED - Corner Half Walls in wood, brick etc. ADDED - Trader icon to the map. Sorry for my blunder. V17.0 Update!Dec 20, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey folks! Today's update adds various new content, some balancing/changes and lots of optimization to various assets. There's also a few new holiday pieces to let you decorate for the holidays- hope you enjoy! Content List ADDED - Rooster, not needed for reproduction of chickens but grants 4 raw chicken when butchering from the barn. CHANGE - Chickens will now reproduce automatically over time. ADDED - New trader technologies are available for purchase. CHANGE- Various changes to the shield. CHANGE - "Tree chop" sound effects. ADDED - Repair Bench: you can now repair destroyed clothing, armor and shields. CHANGE - Small Rations now require cooked chicken instead of raw. CHANGE - The stone grinder used to provide 10 sand and 2 iron fragments every 25 seconds- the time has been increased to every 50 seconds. CHANGE - Can now Alt/RMB sand, clay, and cement in and out of cement mixers. CHANGE - Interacting with Stone Crates will auto-deposit all stones in your backpack. ADDED - New "Move All" button to help shift items to and from containers. ADDED - Sound attenuation to AI when stuck on spikes. ADDED - Christmas Tree that can be found in the decor filter tab. ADDED - Various wrapped gifts are now found in the decor filter tab. OPTIMIZATION - A huge reduction in draw calls from static meshes, which resulted in the RAM requirement being reduced to under 5GB and an increase in FPS. OPTIMIZATION - Found a FPS drop issue when using unreal engines default wire component. When a player had a large amount (50 to 100) of wire connections, a performance drop was very noticeable. To correct this issue, we changed the wire component to using a simple mesh and spline. Players may notice a small visual change to the connected wires. Trader additions and changes ADDED - Core Strength technology increases max weight by 25. ADDED - Lucky Raider technology will help you find better loot while scavenging through POI containers. ADDED - Iron Stomach technology let's you eat less and stay hydrated longer. 25% reduction in hydration and nutrient depletion speed. ADDED - Energy Boost technology helps you sleep better and increase your bodies energy level. 25% reduction in your energy depletion speed. ADDED - New Repair Bench technology from the trader. BUGFIX - Fixed issues where Mike would sometimes not be repairing build parts. He was actually working well except for in one scenario. If a spike trap for example would be damaged by AI and a player would save/reload before Mike had a change to repaired it, Mike's array of parts to repair would not include the previously damaged part. Content A new POI has been added with new building types - there's not much to it now, but there's a future purpose in mind for it. The map has been updated to reflect the new POI and the roads connecting to it. Map Markers: Long requested by the community, map markers are here! Right mouse click while interacting with the map to open the map marker UI. Added a Battery Rack, another frequent request. Similar to the storage chest rack but exclusively for batteries. When creating any object or placeable that displays a ghost image, you will see the final product instead of just an empty ghost. This change will help you quickly determine if it is in the desired orientation. Once successfully placed, the item will turn into a white ghost ready to receive materials. If it cannot be placed in a chosen spot, it will turn red. Added a few Halloween props just for fun. A new skull light and a few gravestone placeables, plus a metal cemetery type fence. Added 4 new build parts that act like foundations but can be used for other purposes: stone plot and dirt plot. These new parts can help players create stone pathways, sky bridges, courtyards, graveyards and more. Changed the sound effect for door open/close. Crossbow Change: Crossbows will now be a viable tool against AI, with bolts inflicting an unblockable 500 damage on headshots. Today's update adds new decor, furniture, placeables, and AI-related changes, fixes, and tweaks. Content A wide variety of decor and furniture items was added- some can be used as storage, and you can now sit! No more AI groups of specific subtypes- vampires, werewolves, and goblins. Instead, we are returning to how it was before V14: AI is back to being infected humanoids, visually/mechanically a blend of the previous types. Expect to have an adjustment period as combat with altered AI will feel different. The Goblin and Vampire Miniboss AI models have been removed. All AI are the same size and base stats- there are no more "miniboss" AI types. Reworked the main menu to accommodate AI changes. Removed the visibility of the noise/light meter in the Landclaim poles. Noise and Light are no longer the only factors that will spawn base attacks. New night-time horde event with associated menu settings to cater to playstyle. AI spawns in villages are now more challenging. Players will no longer be able to loot early days with ease. Spike traps and barbed wire fences have been reworked- spikes will feel more effective! Addition of several new techs purchasable at the trader. A common community request was to have Mike avoid cutting specific trees. Players can now add trees to a no-cut list using the stone hammer. Various bug fixes. New decor and furniture The new furniture offers valuable functionality! Desks, cabinets, and counters are also storage containers. All chairs and couches can be sat on, and your health will slowly regenerate. Enjoy v15, now on the main branch! Note that all V14 save files loaded on the new V15 will see all foliage respawned. Additionally, you'll notice that the new tech recipes will be auto-completed- since many items were previously available as recipes in the Itempedia. Content New basic Trading/Economy system: There are 2 traders worldwide where players can sell most items and purchase new special loot. The current sell list is not complete, the economy aspects are being balanced and worked on. New Gas Generator: Generates 350 Power. The technology required is only available for purchase from a trader. New Higher Workbench: This multipurpose crafting table is the highest-tier workbench available in the game, an all-in-one combination of the Workbench, Advanced Workbench, and Chemistry Table. The technology required is only available for purchase from a trader. New Advanced Battery: High-capacity batteries that store 3500 power. The technology required is only available for purchase from a trader. New Coal Crate: Similar to the Stone Crate but for coal. Tech Revision- Tech recipes will be adjusted, adding in new tech and adjusting some former recipes to be learned via tech. To accommodate this change AND user feedback, RNG will no longer govern tech. Discovering blank pages will net you one Tech Point, allowing you to choose the order you unlock and progress through technology. A dozen large flat areas have been added to the map, great for those that favor open land for large builds. New biomes - Meadow, Hybrid Desert, Redwood forest. New items: Oil Shale, Desert biome shale boulders, Aloe Vera plant New POI houses Changes to existing content: Oil extractor requires shale, mineral extractor will extract shale in desert biome, screws are no longer required to repair the ATV, and bandage recipes have been changed to include aloe. Today we are putting those alterations LIVE on the Test Branch of the game. The current plan is to shift it to the main/live branch next week. (This is dependent on there being no issues.) So players will want to check their build locations to see what may be impacted by the changes- and move or tear down what you can. To access the testing branch, right-click on The Infected in your Steam library and hit properties. There you will find a BETAS tab, select BETA and launch your game as usual. Also- you may come across a POI house that you are unable to enter. This is intended! It will be used to host a future update. BUGFIX - Mike was broken when trying to repair stuff. BUGFIX - AI campfires would sometimes spawn in player bases if they had multiple land claim poles close to each other. BUGFIX - Could move the AI house when mike was in his bed not cured yet, this would cause issue for Mike. BUGFIX - Gear durability could go into the negatives, added a clamp to ensure 0 is the lowest. BUGFIX - Hunting tutorial quest description still read that you can poke fish in lakes. BUGFIX - Would not allow placement of Half Ladders unless a player was building it with the land claim pole radius. BUGFIX - Player backpack Weight would not increase when catching fish. FIXED - Identified and fixed an issue that caused fps drops/hitches when player bases would become very large. FIXED - Dropped food items from the food prep table would cause the food to perish. This update is mainly to address a major issue that causes the game to crash when using the newly added max craft button. We have also made a few AI tweaks. Minibosses will now use their 'grab and push player down' attack that was disabled temporarily. This will result in a harder AI to contend with and defeat. FIXED - Major issue with the Max craft button that caused a crash in some circumstances, especially when crafting weapons when no room existed in your backpacks. FIXED - Max button and quantity input in the players crafting menu would remain visible in some circumstances. FIXED - Barn was too large and depending on the rotation when placing its ghost, it would either not able you to place it or would flash green/red. FIXED - A hole in the map in the south west cave. CHANGE - Miniboss grab attack re enabled. CHANGE - Made the barn smaller in size. (about 20% smaller) Players may wanna check its placement after this adjustment. V14.09 Mini update!May 24, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone! Just another mini update. FIXED - Could not place bed on carpets/rugs. FIXED - Overlapping the top of a ladder when on stairs/ramps etc would cause the player to snap to the ladder. I now added a check if the player is standing on something before attaching the player to the ladder. CHANGE - Can now build ladders on curved foundations and ceilings CHANGE - Biofuel max stack changed from 5 to 100. CHANGE - Can snap ladder to bottom of other ladders. CHANGE - Removed Bulk recipes tab from the itempedia. ADDED - Workbenches and inventory crafting UIs now have a Quantity input field and a Craft Maximum button. ADDED - Curved ceiling ladders access parts.
