Version 1.0.4 is now out on Steam. The changelog this time is notably short: Fixed characters failing to load if they had spells at spell rating 26 or higher. Rest assured, this is not everything we've been working on since 1.0.3, but due to the severity of the issue we wanted to get a fix out as soon as possible. More fixes and improvements are in various stages of the implementation and QA process for version 1.0.5.Version 1.0.3 is outJun 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHello! Book of Heroes version 1.0.3 is now live with another batch of fixes and improvements. More are in the pipeline. Big thanks again to everyone for the bug reports and other feedback! Fixes Fixed all characters loading without hair after double-tapping Esc to skip the intro. Fixed permanent hair loss if the hair fails to load for any reason in the future. Unfortunately, there's no way to automatically fix existing characters that were already saved with missing hair. Fixed “Find the bandit with the amulet” personal quest only working for the Host. Fixed Dialogue window getting stuck open between adventures. Fixed Rest window getting stuck open between adventures. Fixed Grey Mage henchman missing Spellcaster advantage. Fixed henchmen attacking tameable creatures. Fixed friendly creatures (such as Tree Dragons) preventing Rest. Fixed double log message from Balsam Salabundle, with one of the messages broken. Fixed roads abruptly ending at the Boronyard in Forest. Fixed henchmen getting stuck in the pit in the “bridge over pit” room in Forest. Fixed an unreachable “Loose Tile” in Dungeon maps. Fixed some typos and mistakes in texts. Improvements You can now spend silver to redraw basic (non-upgraded) Progression Cards at the Fortune Teller in the Tavern. E.g. redrawing a “Squire” card will replace it with another “Squire” card. Henchmen now respond to “Help” and “Heal” requests from the Chat Wheel by attempting to stabilize or heal the player. Henchmen respond in chat to Chat Wheel and Map Pins that they understand. Tweaked henchman behaviour when reacting to Map Pins to make them more responsive. Improved “Forge of Agrimoth” end puzzle (more clear indication when it’s completed, some other tweaks). Reduced enemy Disengage frequency. Show log message when damage is blocked by Gardianum or Liturgical Shield. Removed “Luck” advantage from Gambler origin (no gameplay effect). Version 1.0.2 is outJun 15, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsFor the past few days, we at Random Potion have been assessing, reproducing and fixing the most acute issues discovered since launch, and are now ready to launch version 1.0.2. Our priority right now is in fixing bugs, and that work is still ongoing. We do also follow the discussions and reviews here on Steam, and are in active talks with the publisher to determine the best steps forward. Thanks to everyone for the bug reports, constructive criticism and other feedback! Changelog: Fixed players with certain system locales (at least Norwegian Bokmål) being unable to progress beyond the main menu. Fixed "Steam Default" language option not working. The game would always start in english, unless the "Deutsch" option was selected in the in-game options, instead of "Steam Default (Deutsch)". Downtuned "Sleepwalker" disadvantage and reduced its proc chance. It will no longer teleport you miles away from the party, behind locked doors or, in one case of a misplaced spawn point, inside walls. Show "Sleepwalker" floater on the affected character after resting finishes, to reduce confusion over the character having moved on his/her own. Fixed the game being un-quittable when the player has no characters. Reduced memory overhead from having multiple characters in your account. More work needs to be done on memory usage, but character count should no longer affect it as much. Enemy loot (such as the dungeon exit key) is now spawned at the feet of the downed enemy. This should prevent it from ending up behind locked doors or at the bottom of a lake. Regeneration is now shown in the Log while resting. Elves can now acquire spells via character progression Lower difficulty for the early adventures Cultists are not as spell happy anymore Enemies leave less traps Removed Luck advantage from new characters (it has no function in game) Henchmen finish combat before stabilising Henchmen now react to 'Trap' map marker Adventure Results screen layout fixed Fixed personal quest triggering multiple times Added tooltips to progression cards Fixed movement speed from Axxeleratus never ending Fixed “Fire And Brimstone” spell particles never ending Fixed several ESC and System Menu bugs The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes is out now!Jun 10, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHeroes of Aventuria, your time has come! Learn about how the team worked on bringing the artistic style of The Dark Eye tabletop game to the realm of video games. And get a few more peeks into what it will be like to play Book of Heroes when we launch it on june 9th. Creating a character in Book of HeroesMay 14, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsEvery great adventure needs great heroes, and we would like to give you a a first-hand look at the creation of an adventurer in this new gameplay trailer. Book of Heroes is, as you know, based on The Dark Eye tabletop pen and paper role-playing system, and character creation in the game follows a narrative process where your character’s design is more than just a batch of numbers, it’s also built around a backstory, wants and needs, and goals. We have made this video to give you a look at the creation mechanics as you will get to experience them when Book of Heroes launches on June 9th. Pick your profession - part 2May 13, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsWhen playing The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes you have a choice of 12 different professions – here is your chance to get to know a bit more about playing Gray mage, Knight, Mercenary, Rogue and White Mage {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/ff0e27d53e4e1a74e33acc6432b99cd359b3bf8d.png Gray mage The disciples of the Lowangen School of Transformation study healing magic and transmutation. They are members of the Great Gray Guild of the Mind and try to live according to the peaceful elvish worldview taught in the school. The education of the gray mages of Lowangen is viewed as conventional and down-to-earth, and as such, they enjoy good reputations in the world of magic and have the respect of all the guilds {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/dc467ed326d0aa652a9a895b9d053a7dddf1d415.png Knight Knights enjoy great respect in many provinces of the Middenrealm as well as in Bornland and the warring kingdoms of Nostria and Andergast. Some people view the knightly ways of combat as antiquated; nevertheless, they are formidable opponents. Knights learn the art of fighting as squires in service to older knights. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/145705dd2555f152b3af7e3d7aaa7ace6af22331.png Mercenary Mercenaries fight for whoever pays the most. They are often viewed as disreputable, since they seemingly follow no rules. Many have bad reputations as corrupt sell-swords. Mercenaries and other soldiers are trained in the use of different weapons, depending on the type of unit to which they belong. Skirmishers wear only light armor and use swords, hatchets, or maces, whereas some units of heavy infantry use two-handed weapons (indeed, the famed troops known as Andergasters derive their name from a type of two-handed sword). Archers normally provide support for the close-combat fighters in their units, but nevertheless occasionally join the melee. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/016a4da9cecd0ee5f1109b4dc4e1c8d1ac1a1631.png Rogue Rogues are the kings of crime. They are at once thief, burglar, charmer, and rake. The city’s alleys are their home and nobody knows their neighborhoods better than rogues. While a rogue’s source of income is not always obvious, it is easy to see how cat burglars earn their living. These second-story people seek the strongboxes and valuables of the wealthy and break into their homes with ease. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/02e445d69c5b5aebe03c600fd88bdfd85029541b.png White mage The white mages are known as excellent battlemages who protect themselves with sword and staff. They are staunch defenders of the Middenrealm and selflessly join the Empress’ army in times of war. Their education is tough, stern, and austere. The mages of Gareth are said to love truth and avoid deceptions, viewing falsehoods as displeasing to the gods. Unlike other mages, they do not enjoy research (being magical warriors), and try to stick to the basics. Their book collections are usually smaller than those of other mages and include mostly works about their specialty: combat. The making of Book of Heroes – part 1May 8, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsA few months back we visited Finnish game developer Random Potion. Join us and meet some of the developers working on making Book of Heroes a breathtaking adventure. Learn how the game came to be and how the developers make use of the massive world that is Aventuria and The Dark Eye to create a Co-op Multiplayer Role-playing Game for pc. Release date and pricing announcedApr 28, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsSharpen your swords, shine your armor, load your pack with dungeon rations, and get ready for adventure! We are very happy to announce a June 9, 2020 release date for our PC action-RPG The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes. The game will be available on Steam for 29.99 EUR. Book of Heroes is based on the massively popular tabletop RPG The Dark Eye, which is one of the most beloved pen-and-paper RPGs in Germany – right up there with Dungeons and Dragons! The game has you rolling up a character, creating their backstory, and heading off in search of action and adventure in the mystical lands of Aventuria. Will you find fame and fortune, or foolhardy folly? The choice is yours! Pick your profession - part 1Apr 28, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsWhen playing The Dark Eye: Book of Heroes you have a choice of 12 different professions – here is your chance to get to know a bit more about playing Assassin, Black mage, Blessed One of Boron, Blessed Ones of Phex or Blessed Ones of Rondra. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/3c2ec440fc23142cadf27c0888221eca235812d1.png Assassin Assassins are agents specially trained to kill. They are more interested in dispatching unwanted persons than in collecting information, and use weapons, poison, and intrigue to achieve their objectives. Nevertheless, investigation is a large part of their work, because they need to gather as much information as possible about their intended victims. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/398b39637ef64b834b3bc878c55b15dc7abd9fbc.png Black mage The association called the Brotherhood of the Knowing has a reputation as ruthless black magicians. One of the centers of the guild is the Al’Achami of Fasar, a school of mindmages that is mentioned in old Tulamydian writings and shrouded in many mysteries. It is said that graduates must enter into a contract–written in their own blood–with the leader of the academy, and that many blasphemous experiments take place in its dark cellars. Some of these rumors are no doubt exaggerated, but the mages of Fasar consider themselves the magical elite on the continent and often come across as arrogant. They believe that mages are superior to all others and should use their powers to pursue their goals ruthlessly. Fasar mages refer to themselves as controllers. This does not mean that every mage from Fasar is a villain, for they also value good friends and may act in a way that is pleasing to the gods. It is true they might choose methods others would deem unacceptable, but do not assume that all are corrupt just because they train at a school of black magic {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/4f33197bf3367f1de01e4b15df0094fa2476dfb0.png Blessed One of Boron At first glance, only a few aspects of Boron, the god of death, sleep, and oblivion, seem to be of interest to humans. But in Al’Anfa and other cities of southern Aventuria, Boron is the most important god. His Blessed Ones are well-respected and held in high esteem. The Boroni are skilled exorcists and make invaluable allies against the undead. They also give comfort to the dying and bereaved and help ease their pain. Additionally, they grant people oblivion (a good night’s sleep, free from troubling memories, or even a peaceful and painless death) in the name of Boron, which often proves to be a valuable gift. The two regional factions of Boron’s church, one based in Al’Anfa and one in Punin, are sworn enemies and view each other as heretical. There are two main sects among the Blessed of Boron— the Servants of Golgari, who focus on burying the dead and tending graves, and the Servants of Bishdariel, who study the interpretation of dreams. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35676135/231d45adb4c208ec5e781a0036e323d252bf8f72.png Blessed Ones of Phex When people think of servants o...
