The Coin Game

Christmas at Lenny's WaterPark and New Mall Cinema!Dec 20, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey Islandvillers! First off, I want to say thank you and welcome to all the new Islandvillers that have joined us this year. Without all of you NONE of this would be possible. So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. Your support allows me to do this full time and I am very grateful. I am also very excited for the new year coming.... as I really feel that 2024 is going to be the best year yet for The Coin Game. For now lets get to the new update. This update is a little thing I have been working on in the background for a few months along side of the regular stuff I have been working on (Mall, Optimizing and Multiplayer.. etc). I have always wanted to add some kind of water attraction to the island and I finally got it done enough to share with all of you. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/2aee0af435eb6e314c7fbb7c24f320e02fef74ba.jpg WATERPARK: New Lenny's Water Wonderland Waterpark. It's all new and located near the Beach on the East side of the island. The new waterpark is complete with Waterslides, Wave pools, Dunk Tanks and of course a lazy river to just relax at the end of a hard arcade bender. It is open 24 hours a day... Seven days a week and the best part is that it is FREE to all Islandville residents (yes that's you). {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/dc008ee8922ead1d96ee605d1eac7b348ffd3b9e.jpg To ride the Lazy River just head into the entrance and click on the single yellow innertube that is at the edge of the Lazy River under the awning. You will be loaded automagically. You can rotate the tube by paddling with your hands left and right. Nice and lazy... Just like its supposed to be. Let the waterfalls splash off your forehead as you plan your next payday at the pawn shop. You will auto exit at about the same location after completing a full "lap". Its actually very relaxing. haha. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/1b8b7974f48cd3848bea922b9a3ed5de8a7324cf.jpg To ride the two waterslides just walk to the top of the stairs and you will see 4 tubes at the top. Two on the right and two on the left. Click on one of them to choose right or left side. Single or double tube. Single tube is just you alone on a tube and double is when you go plummeting with a bot friend in a two seat tube. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/aa3f522ffc07df714a4ef9648bd992766e1b8eb8.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/7cf7a73e367432f172e33f5406d4e9fc59249c31.jpg You can exit any "ride" at the waterpark by hitting the E Key (Or exit button with a controller). Here's Lenny the Mascot. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/a2403cc4d163231844421c7e93960cc4a67eefc2.jpg The Wave pool has a simple physics system on it that will "surf" you up to the beach if you are in the waves "pocket". It is still a WIP and will change to be a little more advanced in the future. Currently the floating bots are animated but I really want to be able to interact more with them in the future but for now I wanted them in the mix bobbing around. They look pretty happy to me. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/d3f771e9ed857960cfb0e9f...Dev Update: New Mall Cinema Teaser Pics and infoSep 23, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsI am very excited to post pics of the upcoming Mall Cinema that is coming next to The Coin Game. It will be on the end of the Islandville mall in the NEXT update. I had to "massage" the lighting in the mall quite a bit to get the theater to run smoothly during the playing of movies. AGAIN... the Cinema will be available in the next update to The Coin Game. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/b20498431be52f61f4559e142f82f04f93322380.jpg I am currently finishing up a "feature film" starring Popcorn Pete and a bunch of the Islandville characters that you can watch for about $5.50. It has been fun making it and challenging myself to do something that I have never even tried before. There is just so much in "film making" that I have been getting a little lost in it. haha. I still have a bit to go with audio and other little things like silly rolling credits at the end and a couple funny commercials for the concession stand. I may even make an AMA from Gary about the dangers of tanning beds. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/780903763ac4236e103c3d26751a48aa20a23dbe.jpg When complete, the movie theater will also have the ability to watch .mp4 movies from your local hard drive. Maybe you have a movie you always wanted to watch at the theater... now you will be able too! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/f06678ff3c2b089da21d90788475b1080a018c35.jpg All of the 80 seats spots will be available to sit anywhere you like... unless it is occupied by a bot or their family. Then you will have to pick another one. Hopefully a bot doesnt come and sit in front of you and talk the whole time.... well I guess you can move to a new spot. But how rude huh? You might even see Gary and Nanny Bot there. They have been known to sneak away and catch a matinee every now and then. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/d0f6da085c2c707b94219fc4b9db58a3bdfab7ef.jpg I have been working on making the island feel more alive and having other bots in the theater causing small interruptions will def add to the movie going experience. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/17858e3206de6d0a1d742675331a02d7df4f5132.jpg and a couple extra future location teaser pics: - A new huge waterpark complete with waterslides, a lazy river and a wave pool full of bots to dunk. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/1fcf638c1a086c7a34f17076eead1e79405b922b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/90d7eb4716fb6400d4fb23f3d4121f904877bbcc.jpg and last....Yes. I am still working on Multiplayer. haha. As always a HUGE THANK YOU to all of The Coin Game supporters, players and streamers out there sharing the game with the world. I am forever grateful. See you all soon. KevinNew Mall, Arcade, Games, Banking System, programmable bots and ZolBotMay 20, 2023 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/0faeda5f719a03df8c1afd3de146142c733bcaec.jpg May 20th 2023 Update #027 Version: V0.9988 Build# 11280585 I am happy to share that I have finished the public release of the new Islandville Mall update along with a bunch of other goodies. The rest of the mall will come in a couple phases. This first phase will include everything in the current beta (minus the Santa stage and the snow!) with the addition of some new games at the new Arcade Castle arcade, new bank account system, programmable bots to hire, goofy machines and a ZolBot fortune teller treasure hunt. The second phase of the mall update will be the movie theater and a couple more surprises. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/8c0baca568ad81169334c69d7d4f95b770d00066.jpg This first stage of this Islandville Mall includes the new Arcade Castle, a food court with four eatery locations, Spunkies Prize Store, a shady public restroom hangout area complete with lotto scratchers and smooth public radio pumping 24/7 throughout the air waves. The movie theater and a couple more stores will come later in development. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/623a7b98b598496e4634cde18dadf8a59b504c69.jpg The new arcade is called "Arcade Castle". It is complete with many of Islandvilles most popular games and a few new ones. Just like the other arcades on the island, there is a free money machine for Birthday mode and plenty of great prizes to win. As always the arcade is packed with little tykes going bonkers. I hope you enjoy. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/eafeb0145db7269af27b4a184828b5a01fb7b749.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/fbd443263ef21f1806787c82c1527130876ce948.jpg The Arcade is themed after a local mall arcade I went to as a youngster. It went out of business many years ago but I hope this will let it live on for all of us to enjoy. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/946767abbca24d6add41c4f8af6b6972aadb6ae8.jpg The new arcade also features a fun ZolBot fortune teller machine. If you are skilled enough to get the coin in ol'ZolBot's mouth, he will drop you a collector card. Once you collect all four color cards you can see the entire map in your tree house by placing them on the map. You may be able to find some goodies if you can read the map and locate some loot boxes. There is now a light always on in the tree house. That way you can see and dont get scared out in the woods. ;) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/3550c4037eadca13d402c2e6800e4dc9b053f4af.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/97f02bc102eb6e78ba73a981c30f16aac70f1567.jpg New machines at Arcade Castle: "Pumpkin Pusher" marble coin pusher: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/97a01e009017753f6c080bd3a388f381057a76de.jpg The newest coin pusher at Arcade Castle in the mall is a marble style of "coin pusher". It has two different sizes of marbles. The smaller white "Ghost" balls and orange "Pumpkin" scoring balls. The idea of the game is to drop the white marbles through the pins on the gameboard into the 7 different traps. As each white marble is dropped th...New Islandville Mall BETA Preview out now!Dec 24, 2022 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/f3ee8f56c427469288b9ae909525d801bd514ca4.jpg Hello fellow Islandvillers! Tis the Season! I have a small last minute Christmas gift for you all! I have uploaded a "Beta Preview" for the Holiday Season. The Beta password is christmasbeta. I thought I would do this to show you all some progress of the next location in The Coin Game. I have been very quiet building and changing a lot of things for the next major update.... but I wanted to take a minute and put out a small BETA preview to show the new location with a little Christmas flare to it. As with any beta there may be bugs and it is not optimized in any way yet. This is just a small unfinished "peek" for the holidays. We all remember the "local mall" when we were young. Window shopping, crowded stores, Christmas music everywhere and of course getting your pic taken with Santa. If you grew up in the old days like me before cell phones and online shopping you would know that people actually went out to the mall just to hang out. No destination in mind except being seen and socializing with other shoppers during the holidays. I know... Sounds crazy right? As crazy as it sounds... It was wonderful and I hope you all enjoy my small simple rendition of it. The mall will change a bit through development as I still have many things to add. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/9aeeadaac8c6156c9984ae47996e6a2c33ce9098.jpg The new Beta Preview includes a couple of the new stores coming to the mall. It also contains a very early version of the new arcade called Arcade Castle. The BETA Preview version is not optimized much at all... so expect some hiccups and low frame rates. Im getting about 90 FPS average with an old GTX2060 and an i7. When you are inside the mall there is no optimization zones yet, so all of the stores are on at once. Again.... This is a beta preview just to show off the new mall for the Holiday Season. Your old saved games will work but I advised you to start a new game with the beta. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/ed4da7a0ea9d84657c97f94b7974f2ee151eed17.jpg Arcade Castle The new Arcade Castle Beta version does not have any of the new arcade machines or prizes in it yet. (Hint: the next new machines will be a new coin pusher, a new claw machine and a new arcade shooter cabinet...but more on those later.) These new machines will come later with the "full release" of the mall. For this BETA preview I have filled Arcade Castle with some of my favorite prizes and machines from the years of building them. I hope you enjoy my temporary choices. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/adb14eea2a36cede766b6e53a0530cc5ba099e99.jpg Spunkies Gifts You can now buy many of the "nice" prizes with cash instead of grinding on the arcade machines all day. The prize machine works just like the ticket kiosks but just accepts coins/money instead of tickets. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/5a60b674f6221633bdd7324f5486360e174fd5a3.jpg Food Court: Lemonista Islandville Sweets Pirate Pizza Jerrys Gourmet Sam...Islandville Mall Dev Update and 4 DAY devotid SALESep 22, 2022 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/1414f576b045275d832442f0e8c4895c4d01431a.jpg Hello Islandvillers! Just wanted to share some more pics of the coming Islandville Mall. I have finished all the malls mesh, collision colliders, Interior & exterior lighting and I am currently finishing the texturing on the stores. I didnt realize how much area and extra little items there is in an entire mall. After the texturing is done, I am going to finish up the Arcade Castle and its new arcade machines. I have been reading the wishlist comments and trying to add some last minute favorites that I see mentioned the most. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/88a050815156d7cf7c5e3d59969acf0b65fbd758.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/c971da4a6944972a7c2a6bf603117f6af32daea9.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/daca16ff7c2d293708e60a903763b6d50524594f.jpg I have really enjoyed looking through thousands of pictures of old malls across the country and I am trying to put a little bit of all of them in here for proper nostalgia. Here is a couple of the new "stores" in the mall. Arcade Castle: New arcade with new and old arcade machines from the other arcade locations. This will be the main attraction at the new mall. Spunkies Gifts: A new retail store that will allows players to purchase prizes with cash right from the mall. Candy Crazy: Bulk Candy Store for food. Sneaker Bot: More info later... Islandville Credit Union: More info later... Food Court/ Pirate Pizza: Cheap pizza and Pirate Punch combos Food Court/ Jerrys Gourmet Sammys: Good healthy but pricey alternative. Food Court/ Lemonista: pricey fancy Lemon drink. Food Court/ Islandtime Sweets: Elephant ears and other combos. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/a4c782c4795ccba99ce70adc78ab1f0de1dd5b88.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/48f076d586d97c1162bacb5358082baccad72d30.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/a9bf114a1dfabc4af2df9dc1bfde2e9c2db63f9e.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/2b90a86f1c18a2995dde2acb9582b3957cd7691e.jpg Also... This weekend marks a 10 year milestone for me as an indie game dev. Whew... how time whips by. So for that I am putting all of my games on sale for the weekend (4 Days only). This is the deepest discount there will be for a LONG time on The Coin Game. Once the Mall and Multiplayer are finished the game will have another small price increase. So this is a great time to get it cheap. As always.... I THANK ALL OF YOU for making this game possible. Now back to work for me. KevinDev Update: New Islandville Mall Work in Progress picsJul 29, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsThe Coin Game Dev Update: First off I want to welcome all the new players and THANK you all for supporting The Coin Game! It has been a wonderful last few years and a dream come true to be able to build this game for you. We still have a long way to go though and I could not be more excited for the future of The Coin Game. Its been a while since I have said anything on the next steps of The Coin Game. So lets get caught up. It saddens me to say but the multiplayer feature of the game is still on hold and going to take longer than I previously thought. So I have been finishing up more locations and new arcades in the mean time. I will share more info on the multiplayer delay when I have it. Here's what I am currently working on... (ALL PICS ARE WORK IN PROGRESS AND PRE LIGHTING/TEXTURING) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/40a9da6006b579a728aea4372f6e067c0722309a.jpg Islandville is getting a MALL! That's right 100's of thousands of square feet of indoor shopping and loitering goodness! The coming Islandville Mall will feature many stores, funny new characters, a movie theater, a food court and a new "Arcade Castle" with new games and machines. The coming mall is inspired by 90-00's era shopping malls that are spread all around the US. This era was a time back when being "socially active" meant leaving the house to peacock around the local shopping center for "looks" and not "likes". Getting to play real arcade games as a kid was tough and it meant venturing out in to the great big world. You were risking it all on that crappy back tire of a borrowed neighbors sisters bike. But you took the chance an went for it. The mall was worth the ride... {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/3131c1cda4790cc065fb38d387081b0677a3c791.jpg The next arcade coming is influenced by the Alladin's Castle that was in my home town mall. I spent many days there. I would ride my bike 4-5 miles with friends and live off of hot pretzels and free ice water from the gracious clerk at the "gourmet" pretzel stand. Life was simple. The games were all pretty lame but we loved them. Maybe not as much as we loved shaving "steps: into the sides of our mullets but you get the idea. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/80e7828f406768f68b974129954233ae2184fab2.jpg Over the last couple months I have modeled all the "structure" and parking lots of the mall and working on fitting it into the current map of Islandville. When I get it done and release it, it will be the largest location on the entire island. I am currently in the unwrapping process and will be texturing the new models soon. I will release more pics of the mall when I get some textures on it. This stage of development is never really that beautiful or interesting so I find myself not sharing much. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/62890ab776a76d925ea13b7a0a22b5d46f294e19.jpg Overall the mall is huge. haha. I always seem to go a little bigger than I planned... but I think it pulls the best out of me. I only ask for patience and understanding of how big of a...Winter Holiday UPDATE! New games, locations and jobs.Dec 21, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/65af482a687511fe5d432d980aac7a7c43b2ab41.jpg This end of year holiday update brings new claw machines, new locations and even a new Pirate Pizza delivery job to earn more money around the island! GENERAL NEWS Thank you very much for all the support of The Coin Game! Also... WELCOME to all the new players of The Coin Game! We are honored to have you and are VERY Thankful that you chose The Coin Game. Here at devotid... we take wasting your time very seriously. ;) I have been working quietly in the background on this new update for a couple months (ok... more like 6 months). I am really glad to finally have it completed as my wife and I went through a large move over the last 5 months. We also had two very old Weiner doggies (16 and 17) that we spent precious last months with at our new home. All of this at once.... and no internet for 2.5 months made working on the project virtually impossible. It was also a really large job selling the old house but worth it in the end. We lived in our old home for 17 years. Its tough to leave a comfy familiar space and rebuild somewhere new. It took us about 2 years to find a nice quiet location..... but we are very lucky to have found a home in the woods. We now have a home office for us to continue working on The Coin Game were we get to stare at Gary's geese friends all day on the neighboring pond. Thank you again to all of The Coin Game supporters for helping me make this happen for my family. Without all of you NONE of this would be possible. Silly to think that 6-7 years ago I was working part time at BestBuy installing car stereos, painting used cars in my driveway and making wakeskates at night in my garage... to now building the project of my dreams on Unity 3D. If you are passionate about games... Look into the wonderful community that Unity game engine has to offer. I could barely turn a computer on when I started this journey. Now I am more excited. More Empowered and even more inspired than I have ever been. And also.... Never give up. #indiegamedev HOLIDAY UPDATE Dec 22nd 2021 Update #024 Version: V0.9943 Build# 7920670 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/559e80e7c53912f89b73e25f8377edeef7ffde7f.jpg New Radio Controlled Sailboats: One Eye'd Billies still had open area in the back... so I finished up the Radio Control Boat pond. Pile Up. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/4b19b49ecb022aab42886799127002b96b54fb1c.jpg Pile Up is a stacking blocks kind of game. Seems easy right? Just wait until the stack gets a little taller... and then TIMBER!!!! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/e87e660d240b5f19ec5ceb20ed13a4fe5e60b21f.jpg Roadside Shootin Gallery {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/7b956dd49e92bd270e9a338a5107948c49b0824d.jpg The new shooting galleries at One Eye'd Billie's has two sides. On the left is the "Fun" shooting gallery that will issue tickets for hitting the small targets near each "feature". The rifles use a laser light and use no real ammo. There is a spinning water wheel of chance and plenty more silly reactions to shoot at. You get a total of 15 shots for each round and there is no time limit. Clay Pigeon Skeet Shoot {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/52ee86fb470b6a1bede3c2deaf8e2b2c6729eae8.jpg The Skeet Shoot on the right is a timed game of shooting skill with fun pellet guns and clay pigeons. You will get a specified amount of time and unlimited shots to hit as many targets as possible. For now all of the pigeons are the same value. If you hit more that 42 targets you get a 500 ticket bonus. This is a kind of version 1.0 and I have plans to expand on this later in development. I have been finishing up One Eye'd Billies and thought I would stop to show a few pics of the new machines and also talk about the price increase of the game coming next week. The next update to The Coin Game will feature three new arcade machines, two new shooting galleries and two extra little features. Oh and lots of bugs fixes, a FOV slider and some fixed achievements all coming next week. After reading through all of the discussions and suggestion threads I came up with these next arcade machines. The first machine is Combo Craze. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/812fa24b250e586542f26d64203ca0cd3670789b.jpg It is a game of skill were you must stop the rotating line on the dot to crack the combination 50 times in a row. There is a left to right sliding handle on the front of the machine to move the base platform. When the blocks fall from the top you simply need to stack them up to the ticket winning lines. Seems easy right? Just wait until the stack gets a little taller... and then TIMBER!!!! I really cant wait to see all the new videos and streams of people saying.... "Just one more". Haha. After an update I usually spend a day watching streamers and gathering feedback. I dont know how many times I have heard "If the dev is watching this " and I think to myself "ok write this down. That's a great idea." For example... about a month ago I was watching a user play the game on Twitch and he was babysitting. He lost the mop through the wall and could not finish the task. He proceeded to click on the box of floor wipes on the ground next to the mops original position as it was the most logical thing to do to bring the mop back. So after watching this. I have since added that feature to the next update. Because it was a great idea. So thanks to him the game is now better for all of us (Well next week it will b...BIG UPDATE! New location, 8 new games, 18 hole mini golf and cheap pizza!Dec 24, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/185f808c6400d9691f26e96dcb26414d9261d805.jpg Dec 24th, 2020 Update #022 Version: V0.9941 Build# 6012822 Merry Christmas Islandvillers! I've got a BIG UPDATE for you just in time for the holidays. As always this is a work in progress and it may contain some bugs but I will be doing my best to gather and patch them all week. ;). So I do thank you all for being understanding and helping out. The new arcade will come out in a couple stages. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/0594ee68b478da31e058f71c6143651a0e7c88e2.jpg This is the first version of the new One Eye'd Billie's Adventure and Fun Center. The new arcade comes complete with 10 New machines and an indoor 18 Hole Putt Putt Golf Course. It is located pretty close to the home over by the mountains. You can see it on your watch mini map now as "Billies". If you are taking the bus there, you should get off at the Mountains stop and walk the rest of the way. Remember this arcade is still a WORK IN PROGRESS and not fully complete yet but I really wanted to get this to you all for a little extra holiday cheer. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/b73c9b24045046e32137edcf3f971c400ee56677.jpg - 8 new games inspired from modern popular releases and also some good ol'arcade classics. - New Pirate themed prizes at the prize booth ran by One Eye'd Billie himself. - New character bots that will "play" the games at One Eye'd Billies. Makes it feel a little more alive. - New indoor 18 hole putt putt golf course. You can play just the front 9 holes or the back 9 holes... or all 18. You will win tickets when you complete the full golf game. Lower score = More tickets. (Work in progress... still adjusting winning values) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/bb29948c328c8b74d85db577b2fc422c0b3f61f2.jpg - Pirate pizza snack Bar inside the new arcade so you never have to leave. (Pizza Delivery Job coming later in future.) - Half the arcade is "closed and under construction". This update is just a "pre grand opening" party. Feel free to look around. Billy wanted to get everyone in for the holidays. He is such a push over. I barely had to even ask him and he was like " Do you think they will even want to come when its only 3/4 of the way complete.?" I told him "We have to try Billy... we have to try." Other features additions and bug fixes: By popular demand I have added a sitting feature to the character controller. This will let you waste some time and watch a sunset at the beach or even enjoy some "bro/goose time" with Gary watching the TV. Now when you hover on an applicable chair, a cursor will show a sitting image. Left Click or the interact button on controller to sit down. Then when you want to stand up again just hit the the Exit "vehicle" button or the E Key. When you are at home or at the babysitters the TV Remote will be in your right hand. Left click or press the "Interact" button to change the channel. I am still working on more ways to get better TV shows coming... So this is just a tool to make it...One Eye'd Billie's - Dev Blog and news about future MultiplayerNov 26, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHello fellow Islandvillers! First off... THANK YOU for all the wonderful ideas, reviews and support for The Coin Game. Without all of you this game would not be possible. One Eye'd Billie's Adventure & Fun Center: I have been quiet.... but in typical devotid "workaholic never sleep" style I have been cranking night and day on the new locations, new features and new games. Here are some sneak peeks of One Eye'd Billie and his new Arcade. Thank you for being patient and understanding of what it takes to create this game as a solo developer. Its my own personal never ending fun project.... and I LOVE WORKING ON IT. The Next Update: One Eye'd Billie's new arcade will come in a couple stages. The first stage when finished will have about 9-10 new Machines. It will feature some new school stuff and some old school stuff. New Claw Machines, New Coin Pushers, a wood fired pizza food stand and a 18 hole indoor Putt Putt Golf course to start. There will be new pirate themed prizes at the prize counter and a bunch of pirate themed decorations complete with indoor ponds and waterfalls. One Eye's Billie himself will be working the prize booth as he is a "wheels on the ground" kinda leader. I'm working as hard as possible to have this first stage of One Eye's Billie's released by this Christmas. The Second stage of One Eye'd Billie's will feature a Shooting gallery and a Radio Controlled pirate ship game on the indoor pond. These two areas will be under construction and closed off in the first version of One Eye'd Billie's. I am also working on a Pizza Delivery job that will give players another way to make some dough. (see what I did there?) These final pieces of One Eye'd Billie's are going to take a bit longer to finish so I will be adding them as they are completed. Multiplayer Timeline and info: Yes. I am making a multiplayer but it will take time. During the end of the summer/fall I started "testing and working" on multiplayer for The Coin Game. Its the main reason that One Eye'd Billie's is taking so long. I woke up one day and after reading the community thoughts about multiplayer, I just started to work on it. A month later I looked up from my keyboard and said to myself "I think I need to finish One Eye'd Billie's first and then come back to this later". As I realized It's going to be MUCH more work than I had anticipated. So far I have the multiplayer match making, text chatting, room/lobbies, menus and backend stuff almost complete but each game and machine will need to be upgraded and enhanced to function across a network. It is basically redoing part of each machine from scratch again. Lots of work but I know it will be worth it. I also want to add another vehicle or two before I build a system for riding around the island together. I'm guessing multiplayer with limited machines will be ready sometime Q2 2021. I hate to give dates so take these with a big grain of salt....lol. As you can see I have built a small road side motel (See pics below) t...-Work In Progress- One Eye'd Billies Adventure & Fun CenterSep 1, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/58812861acba7032ef4364fe6b20431160c69c06.jpg Hello fellow Islandville residents! I have been pretty quiet and hard at work on the next location. It's coming along nicely so farrrrrgggGGHHHHH! Sorry. My pirate voice slipped out there. ;) The next arcade/location coming to The Coin Game will be called "One Eye'd Billies". It's a Family Adventure and Indoor Fun Center that was inspired by the old road side fun centers all over the world. Bonus points if you can guess the original building that inspired this very old original Arcades front skull facade. Billie's is roughly 2 times the size of the UFO arcade. When it is finished, it will be located at the Mountain bus stop on the water near your home. It will have a wooden dock/pier that runs all the way around it on the water that I can expand on in the future if I need to. The coming area will feature a fun pirate theme and another full arcade with about a dozen or more new arcade machines and coin pushers, an 18 Hole indoor Putt Putt Golf Course, a couple of shooting galleries with goofy reactions for scoring a hit, Pizza take out/delivery area, a radio controlled boat pond and a pirate themed prize counter stuffed with all kinds of new treasures and prizes to collect or pawn off to Barry. I have also been working on a smaller update to Survivor Mode that will be coming before I have this next location complete. Some of the things I am working on for the next update are as follows. - Sitting down mode: The ability to be able to sit on any chair or bench. - Another vehicle or customizing the golf cart? Still not sure.... What do you all think? - Tweaks to the Damage and Health systems. - Tweaks to current machines - More bug fixes! OUTDOOR BUILDING TEASER PICS: I have the exterior of One Eye'd Billie's almost done. I have the base textures completed but still have to go back and add some more little details here and there.... but the main "feel" of the next location is starting to come together. Here are a few pics of the outside of the next location... REMEMBER THIS IS NOT RELEASED YET! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/2fb084c1050bfd12af3fdc3eea2ea53834d3928c.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/1ed2a6978613da1359999186b0fbecd6603c4686.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/0ef7038014dd4711588c9133783a2eac317f6843.jpg I have to build and finish the physics for the arcade machines still. Those will take me some time. I do not like to give time lines or dates... so I wont. haha. You can rest assured that I am working on the game if I am not sleeping. ;) In the next developer blog I will talk more about the contents on the inside of Billies. I am sure that is what you are all waiting for. Things like new machines, putt putt golf, RC Boats and yummy stone fired pizzas. I will be showing more of these coming features as they get closer to completion in other dev blogs. I have been watching many of your hilarious streams over the last few weeks and have seen way too many insta-deaths. I have made some changes to the way damage is dealt to the player and also at what times. Now the most damage you can get from an whipping item is about a 1/10th of what it was before. I turned all of the damage down on those items. This should eliminate the insta-deaths from holding items or falling down a hill and receiving a -50 damage. Now you will receive at the most a -10 Damage when falling off of a roof. Getting hit by a car will still kill you... so dont hang out in the road. In one of the future updates I plan on including damage when you are on the bike and Golf Cart. So start getting used to watching out more for traffic. Congrats to all of you veterans that played and LIVED through these rough and barbaric early times here on Islandville Isle. Well done. I made the bad bots "Short Circuit and burn up" now when you shoot them 3 times with a rubber band gun or even the Roman Candles. Shooting them 3 times will short circuit the bad bots and make them run to Larry's back door by the lambo to "heal up". This will give you more time to get to Barry's front door and be a little more "in control" around the pawn shop. I still have plans to add more "weapons" to battle them and also better "burning up" animations for the bad guys but that will come at a later date. ;) I also turned down the "constant declining health" system a bit. Now your health will only drop quickly if you are really low on energy. I am still working on a "low energy and health" visual warning system that will come in the next phase of Survivor Mode beta. You can also check in to go to bed 2 hours earlier now. 7 PM instead of 9 PM the blankets in your bed will now be open. This should also ease the health drain a bit and allow you to get some rest a little bit earlier and refresh yourself. I am still working on a Dev blog with some early teasers for the next location. One Eye'd Billies Fun and Adventure Center. I will have the blog post ready very soon with a little road map for some of the coming games and even some ideas for future development. So stay tuned. That's about all I have for this small patch update. You may notice a couple more small patch updates coming to keep adjusting the new beta Survivor Mode. Thank you to all of you for all the support. I could not do this without ALL OF YOU! Kevin UPDATE PATCH NOTES: DAMAGE SYSTEM: - Turned off the player damage system when using the Karting System and Lazer Tag systems. - Turned off the player damage system when you are holding an item to stop the killing yourself when trying to feed Gary/Fish or manipulate other things. - Turned down the health damage ...Survivor Mode is here!Jun 13, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsJune 8th 2020 Update #016 Version: V0.989 Survivor mode is released! How many days will you last? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/ecf913df8fc7222f302d360cecd8c3e3516e15a5.jpg I am so happy to bring this update to The Coin Game! Thank you so much for all the support and patience through all of these crazy times we are all going through. I have been building and updating this game for over a year and a half now and I have loved every second. The community and users here are the best I have ever encountered.... and I am not just saying that. I really love the way people treat and help each other around here. Its nice to see.... So first off I want to say THANK YOU to all that have helped others out, helped me out, bug fixed, suggested ideas, suggested machines, ideas...etc. Thank you very much and I hope you enjoy the next stage of The Coin Game as much as I enjoyed creating it for you. I have a long way to go but I am glad that you all make it so easy and pleasant. :) First off please remember that this is a WORK IN PROGRESS and is not finished. I am releasing the Survivor Mode Beta a bit early as I want you all involved and to get more feedback from the community. In the next week there will be plenty of Patch fixes and more builds coming. I will make a new thread for just Survivor Mode Beta Bugs. Thank you VERY MUCH for all your help and support. I am going to be rolling out the new Survivor Mode in a few stages. This first stage includes the new health and energy systems along side of more ways to make money. As this is Survivor mode and not Birthday mode, you will be earning your own way instead of being spoiled by rich Uncle Phil. You must also manage a curfew from Mom and Nanny bot. Nanny bot does not mess around and if she has to come get you, you are "grounded" and it's game over. This initial release of Survivor Mode "Beta Stage One" is a way for me to gather data and feedback from all of you on the new mode. It is not finished and is in a "Work In Progress" state. I have left features out of this first stage for now that are still getting polished and optimized but the base of the new mode is there. I will be changing things based on the communities feedback and ideas.... So let me hear it. WE ARE BUILDING THIS TOGETHER. I dont know how this is going to play out and I am ready to be nimble and adapt. I want it to be fun but not daunting. Finding the right level of game difficulty in a survivor mode is a fine line and as a single dev its hard to balance so many variables and systems at one time. So what I have done is built all of the needed systems and have inserted base starting points/values. I have been playing and testing in house for months but I am sure we are going to be changing and tuning it more. I am very much excited about this part. Its all new and kind of uncharted waters for myself and this genre. So I am going to be counting on you all to help me out with more of those amazing ideas that you all come up with. Ok... enough babb...Dev Blog 2.1 ish New Mountain bike teaser videoMay 19, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/560f20a3a868e1fd2dff707c8b18cc2575c6653f.jpg I am still putting all of the finishing touches on survivor mode over the next couple of weeks but I thought I would share a little video of the work in progress for the mountain bike that I am working on adding to The Coin Game. It's a full suspension mountain bike. Its not as fast as the golf cart but it is free from Uncle Phil. Its has some more audio and physics tweaks to go on it but I thought it was to a point that I was comfortable sharing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/8d110ce8d8935b8a2ab2037da1897c32976cea92.jpg In the coming update you will be able to ride wheelies, bunny hops, front wheel stoppies/endo's and even ghost ride it into things around the island. I actually built this bike a year ago and have been saving it on a old dusty hard drive just for this day. I think adding it worked out really well and I am working as fast as I can to bring it all to you very soon. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/14b7c5e60ee88e37b063458db307c5c12fa7fb91.jpg Here is a small video of it in action. Its easy to ride with a keyboard WASD setup and even more fun to ride with a Dual Stick controller. I spent way too many hours cruising around the island when I should have been testing. lol. Survivor Mode is the next update coming to The Coin Game. In this new mode users will be challenged to earn their own money (instead of rich Uncle Phil spoiling you on your birthday) by working odd jobs around the island and being creative to earn money. KevinThe Coin Game Dev Blog Part 2May 8, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsDev blog Part 1 The last announcement available here > Dev Blog part 1 In Dev Blog "part 2", I want to give you more insight into what survivor mode is going to look like (in stages) and what other features to look forward too in the development of The Coin Game. Here is a quick video that I put together of things coming next Survivor Mode update: Dev Blog part 2 Hello everyone, First off... A HUGE thank you to ALL of you for the continued support of The Coin Game! Also, thank you for your patience with the early access development. As a one man indie dev, its tough to get the time to record, edit, announce and even proof read these write ups. As you can tell by my many spelling errors and bad penmanship. Since the last update I have decided that the new coming Survivor mode is going to be delivered in a few stages. It will make it easier for me to get this new content out and in your hands sooner. The last update was a while ago.... and in that time the game is running much better and smoother in all of my test builds. Overall general development of the game is going fantastic and I could not be more excited to bring you the next update of The Coin Game. This should be the last "dev blog" before I release the survivor mode beta. In my test builds... I have added a bunch of new optimizations in the outside world that will turn off a bunch of the stuff in the game much faster and efficiently now. It took me a while to build these systems but in my opinion, they are the best thing to happen to the game yet. I cannot wait to get it out to all of you. I am also adding more options to the Video Settings panel to help users get more frames per second by turning off more lighting features. More Audio optimizations, lighting optimizations, textures.... I could go on and on. But lets get to the meat. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/ecf913df8fc7222f302d360cecd8c3e3516e15a5.jpg Stage One: Over the last month or so I have been building the final systems needed for the Survivor mode stage one. Things like the Health system that will have to be maintained to keep a healthy lifestyle. That way you can make that $$$ to blow on more arcade games. Be careful, as you will have to watch your food intake to make sure to keep your energy up. Low energy will result in sluggish slower movement. When your energy is very low it will start to decrease your overall health. So make sure you are eating plenty of junk food to stay energized throughout the day. When survivor mode comes out, you will find different kinds of food that will all affect you in different ways. Get yourself some Jerry's Jerky or a Gourmet Tuna Gas Station Sandwich and bulk candy sweets to wash it down. That should be enough energy to get to the UFO arcade and spend some of that hard earned cash. Or maybe you need the energy to finish the job babysitting or even mowing Barry's lawn. Babysitting the bots: One of the new jobs will be babysitting a couple bots and cleaning up after them. Its is pretty simple ...Development Blog about future content (Part 1 of 2) with videoMar 12, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/d3bcb5e264df0847fda5b9f5548dcf7f4f320da9.jpg WORK IN PROGRESS First off I want to say THANK YOU to all the new supporters of The Coin Game in early access. I have been blown away at the amount of people that are enjoying the arcades and are having fun with the open world design of the game. I can say without a shadow of a doubt that we are just getting started. There is lots going on behind the scenes even though I have been quiet... ;) You have all given me the opportunity to build the game I have always imagined. So Thank you again. Now I just wanted to take a minute to show all of you the new things that I am working on at the moment. My original plan was to have Survivor mode out by February of this year so I wanted to take a few minutes to explain the reasoning behind postponing the Survivor mode for a bit until I can add the features that it will need. You see I was going to release the Survivor mode in "stages" but during the testing that I did... it just didnt make enough sense without all of the tools and features in place that I have been building over the last couple of months. I also want to have more of the job locations available on day one of Survivor mode to give the player more options to make money. I am also now building in an XP points system that will give the user a points tallies at the end of each day. That is a big thing that was never planned from day one. You will be able to check up on your points through the ATM machines around the island. You can then spend your XP points on different advantages or even more cosmetic items for your character in the future. The XP points system will be limited at the beginning of survivor mode release but will be updated with more things to purchase as I finish them. I really needed to get the system in place and working. More news on the XP stuff in Part 2 of this dev blog. Here is a simple video that I whipped up that shows some of the new things coming. Shopping carts, more consumable items, Islandville Market, Pinball Machines, Health and Energy HUDs and systems, House appliances and Gary thrashing things he doesnt like. More to come as this is Part 1 of 2 Health and Energy systems: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/642e72debc1f61dd1f9f7c654ddf38558112fd22.jpg Here are some of the new features that are currently being built for Survivor Mode. AGAIN these items are not released yet and are a WORK IN PROGRESS. In the coming survivor mode you will have a Health Level and an Energy Level. You must watch and maintain them both as each one can affect the other. When you eat junk food (Jolted colas, Elephant ears, Microwave dinners etc) your Health level will decrease a bit but your energy level will increase depending on the item. Your energy level will affect the speed at which you can do things in the game (work jobs, walk, run etc...) so you want to keep it high. The only problem with trying to keep your Health and Energy high is that good for you "Healthy" food...Why is Survivor Mode taking so long?Jan 30, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsJan 30 2020 Update #015 Version: V0.988 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/775a78554b290725ebfc0fd3317a765a9a328a72.jpg Over the last month I had to update the whole project to a new version of Unity and it was a nightmare. Approx 4 weeks of my life that are gone to loading screens and little spinning wheels. haha I had to update through 7 or 8 versions of Unity as it has been so many years since I started this project. Every version of Unity had a few things that were deprecated (dropped or changed) and I had to do weeks of work just to get the game to the current state that it was already in. It had to be done though. Now the project is ready for the long haul and it feels great. :) It even gave me some time to optimize some stuff and redo code that I have wanted to update for a while. I lost at least a month of dev time but in the end I really believe it was worth it. So let me get to the meat and potatoes... This update brings a new 24 hour day to night Time of Day system. You can let time progress automatically or you can open your watch and opt to adjust the time of day manually to any hour you desire. This new Time of day system also brings a few other small graphical additions with volumetric lighting from the main sunlight/moonlight source and light rays for those extra purdy sunrises and sunsets. The weather as of now, is random between clear sky, cloudy sky and foggy sky. Each one giving its own level of ambient light. The weather will update every 6 "hours" of game time. So make sure to launch those fireworks on a clear night to get your moneys worth. ;) I am still adjusting the total time of one whole "game day" as I am still finishing the survivor mode. The "auto game speed" will change in the future and is just a baseline for now. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/8d012250462c8d56b410212124b70fea80995d95.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/da03154b9bb39d11fc935b4e6ffe6dc7e3788ec6.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/ed2cfb94bb33a66318c16a8e39bfb53ade58bc3f.jpg Please forgive the Shadow flickering on the ground and on the water for now as I am still building and tweaking the new systems. I think the new lighting system looks better and will give players the choice of how they want to enjoy the game. You can only adjust the "Time of Day" in manual time mode. See your wristwatch (TAB). In the far left menu...All the way at the bottom there is a toggle and a slider where you can turn on Manual Time and adjust it. In Birthday mode the time of day will always be in the lower Right screen corner next to the onscreen player stats. It is also on the top of your smartwatch. You will also see a new Strip Mall location across from Barrys on the way to the Beach. They are NOT open for business yet. When the strip mall does open it will include a Dollar Store, Credit Union XP Bank and a Clothing Boutique. For now... I just put the buildings in the game so I can adjust and build their lighting. They will be open when Survivor mode is done. More details later on that a...New "Mermaids From Space" coin pusher and throwing animationsDec 20, 2019 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/6609b69d3c8c5b363076f433410bc4bbf44d9a1d.jpg Update #014 Version: V0.983 Hey fellow arcaders! This update brings one new coin pusher, video optimizations, and a bunch of new hand animations for the carnival rides and all throwing games. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/88dac39bcf9ae9c2c2776da9110867c54a30dac6.jpg - Coin Pushers: Added the ability to play multiple credits on all of the coin pushers. Now when you insert your card you can move left or right with the A and D Keys (or Left Joystick) to add more "swipes" (Not including the carnival yet). If you chose more swipes than you can afford it will just not let you purchase them and it will spit out your players card automatically. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/e96726a98f877569f1c5aee538c54e8bd6d9f8a1.jpg - UFO Arcade: New Mermaids from Space Coin Pusher. The newest coin pusher in The Coin Game is a more modern style of coin pusher. It features 5 different chips with 5 different values and a bonus LED wheel. The object is to get the chips over the edge and for every point that you get the wheel will move the same amount of spots. Every full turn of the "wheel" is 60 points and will grant you 3 free tokens. If you land the "wheel" on the stop (12 oclock position) you win the bonus amount. The machine is still being "tweaked" and the winning amounts may change in the future. - Player: Added hand animations to all of the throwing games and all carnival games as well. Now when you are playing any game that involves throwing the player hands will be visible on the screen. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/2d1ed5302cf9bd24c4f3818aa3239ec02938f67d.jpg Carnival: Added hand animations on all of the Carnival rides so you dont look like you are not having fun. No one wants to sit next to the weirdo thats going to puke. - Player: Fixed the mini map player icon getting messed up on some of the Carnival Rides. - All Machines: Made player card insert/remove triggers bigger on machines to help in exiting out of some machines. Mainly the prize counters. - All Machines: Added Q Exit Keys to more machines if you change your mind and dont want to play anymore. You will lose your credits. I mean... what better things is there to be doing other than blowing virtual coin on worthless prizes? - System: Removed a bunch of stuff from the initial loading world to aide in loading time and also help people with smaller GPU's loading the huge world. This should help to not get a time out crash from too little texture memory. - Video Settings: Set the Super Vsync back to where it was. oops. It actually does something now. I was testing something and totally forgot to turn off the testing stuff. Its working now. Now when you change the video settings the changes will be instant. Before it would have to restart the game. I am still finishing all the optimization stuff and this will all be re-done later. - Input: Added the ability to map multiple keys/buttons to the same action. the input mapper will ask you if y...All New Claw Machines, Dude Where's My Cow? and new hand animationsDec 10, 2019 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/726e9fb71456dffc81098dfadaec4ce74c39a304.jpg Update #012 Version: V0.981 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0M2xVrEpmA&feature=youtu.be I finished up the new "Dude Where's My Cow?" Claw Machine at UFO Arcade and also rebuilt the two claw machines from Larry's Arcade. No more freak outs and claws stuck through the glass anymore. They are more fun to play now. More consistent too. (Not the winning of course as they are Claw Machines. lol) I also added new themes to Larry's Claw machines as they were in dire need of a texture redo too. Claw Madness? Who even makes this stuff up? (Wait a minute....) This is Kyle the Cow. He is a good cow. He is from the Alsace Region of France and he needs your help. "Dem Aliens" are trying to take him home for some studying. Hurry and throw your loot at the machine to try and save him.... he would do it for you. Then if you win him, you can show him you love him by selling him for lotto ticket money at Barry's Pawn shop. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/02a3de4d00a3e389e517081513a5cfbfb8d66a60.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/9e205ec755f7b730567cb3c88131d27ee3b53422.jpg Another thing that I have been working on is all new hand animations for all of the machines that have joysticks or push buttons. Now when you put your card in the machines you will see your hands doing stuff instead of dangling by your side like a weirdo using telepathy. For now the animations are only on the machines with a joystick or push button. I am still building the throwing animations for UFO, the carnival games and Larry's Skee ball. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/ccdeecac76a9df53877c651ed573c9666db91c1a.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/45a47e4ea01deb781e2de599c57651ace697e8ae.jpg Other Changes and Bug Fixes: - Race Karts: Added new colors and adjustments to the Kart Race on screen race menus. - Player: Tickets in hand will be hidden when a card is inserted into any machine now. - Lazer Tag: Updated and adjusted the vest loading animation. Before it was so close to your head you didn't even see it loading on the screen. Now it comes right at you and on more horizontally. - Video Settings: a couple small adjustments on the Quality settings for shadow distances. (Still finishing a new VIDEO Settings menu for later optimizations.) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32533218/537d55ced0bfbb9daf686018c4ee26dd8c5d80eb.jpg Don't forget to pop into the PINNED thread about "what you would like to see in The Coin Game." I read them ALL and use many of the ideas I read. I do thank you all for the wonderful help on finding bugs. I am very grateful for the time and effort you put into it. Have a wonderful day. That's about it for this update. Keep and eye out for more updates throughout this holiday season. Kevin
