The Blackout Club

Critical Bugfix and Rewards ChangesAug 13, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, In this small update for the game, we have patched a bug with the newest generation of Intel chips, which was causing the game to crash upon startup. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/673251208c65d42606912ea34dfcab0a73c8026b.png Additionally, the Mask cosmetics representing each of the Voices in the game were previously awarded by Enhanced Horror encounters only. Due to the limited uptime we have had for this activity during the pandemic, the masks were not equally available to players in every time zone. Now, through experimentation with The Place Between, all players can earn access to these cosmetics. Enjoy!May 2020 Bug Fixing - Patch NotesMay 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsThe Blackout Club has been updated with several bug fixes and improvements. See you around the neighborhood! >Question UPDATE MAY 19: We were getting reports of a crash for some users with this build. We tested and uploaded a new build this morning with a hotfix for that issue. Thanks to all who reported it!The Blackout Club Update: A Curse on RedacreFeb 5, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsThe Blackout Club Cursed Update is live! The town of Redacre is isolated in the Radio Quiet Zone — but the shadow of a new threat has fallen across it. The locals dare not even speak its name...You’ll have to be extra careful and quick when running around the neighborhood, because not only did we add two new missions, but also the ability to pick up Cursed Ciphers (making your mission harder and more rewarding), the mysterious Place Between and more. NEW MISSIONS Trace Race {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/0c00419cacf5f47129681d3c33c44a68b78844a7.png – Traverse down into the maze, find the data tap with the Chorus spyware and discover who they are watching. Once you’ve successfully done that, you’ll have to get to the surface to record the information they are tracking. You can grab the data from more than one computer, too. But you’ll have to be swift; once Chorus closes the connection between the machine and all of the computers, you’ll have to start all over again. The Trace Race mission unlocks at Level 3. Shadow People {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/a5bfe2f9aa4f4dc4cf0db2a45a45d08bee8b14b8.png – In the mission “Shadow People”, the club is trying to collect information about a forbidden language spoken by the mysterious Voices, in the hopes of eventually being able to understand and synthesize it. This ancient code lies in the subconscious and has been hidden inside electronic Sleep Masks found around Redacre. You must collect these masks imprinted with fragments of the so-called “Old Tongue” and return them to the portable exorcism kit. But be careful. This mission and all who participate are marked... This mission unlocks at Level 10. CURSED CIPHERS {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/ea9a80a1147bdb3d29ba7fd398572c4403bc0dc0.png – Now in The Blackout Club, you can collect Cursed Ciphers. Cursed Ciphers act very similar to regular evidence, but are very often in hard-to-reach, exposed, or dangerous places. Players that get close enough to see Cursed Ciphers will notice a tablet with a glitchy screen, emanating a strange and unexplainable sound. – When you pick up a Cursed Cipher, the collecting player is CURSED. CURSES – You don’t only have to worry about one curse. You can pick up multiple curses, leading you to try and escape while under the weight of multiple negative effects. The more cursed you are, the more negative effects you compile. Cursed Ciphers (and their associated Curses) are completely bound to the collecting player – they are not items, and cannot be traded or handed off, even when the collecting player becomes suppressed. – You each will have your own personal Cursed Cipher Collected Counter, but everyone gets rewarded for the Cursed Cipher instances carried to the exit, regardless of who did the carrying. THE PLACE BETWEEN {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/6e6e9822c6b17fde49717ae8d36c1640f8bb9458.png – There’s a place that lies in between our world and the next. A place where the Voices dwell and travel freely. These spaces are mysterious with ...The Blackout Club Gets a December Update and DLC PacksDec 18, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsThe Blackout Club December Update is live! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Redacre. While our December update won’t be as large as the spooktacular Halloween update, we still delivered a few special gifts for you this holiday season. You can expect a new mission, a new prestige ranking system, new additions to the store and more. NEW MISSIONS {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/0ecb82b6246672bc1dd068fdab3c0ef4c8979f68.png PJ Party – Do you hear what I hear? That’s the sound of Sleepers falling unconscious by the hands of Redacre’s slyest. Tiptoe around the neighborhood planting signal blockers on unsuspecting Sleepers. Once you’ve planted all of the signal blockers, run to a designated “safe zone” and detonate to knock all of them out. But what to do with all of these unconscious Sleepers? Better ease up on the holiday cookies, because you’ll have to muster up your strength and endurance to carry all of the unconscious Sleepers to the target area without making a peep. The PJ Party mission unlocks at Level 6, and the more challenging version of the mission unlocks at Level 12. EXPRESS YOUR DEVOTION – We’ve added a brand new way for players to express their devotion for their Voice of choice. The new prestige system called, “Devotion” allows players to sacrifice their body and XP to one of the Voices, causing their devotion to deepen. There are five tier brackets of devotion, with the last being at 500,000 sacrifice total. Players may sacrifice to any number of Voices. Each time a player reaches a new tier, they get a new jacket cosmetic. And now, players can see how much XP they’ve sacrificed to a particular Voice. So, who are you most devoted to? PLAY BACK DREAMS {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/de9e50544f074520ef99104fdf8812c1da231ae8.png – Ever heard an interesting dream and wanted to delve into the message more? Well, now you can. The Journal Menu now allows you to play back Dreams and read them like journal entries. You can also listen to past Dreams you’ve had and Broadcasts you’ve heard in the journal. TESTING, TESTING...IS THIS THING ON? – We know it’s important you’re heard in The Blackout Club. That’s why we’ve added a microphone test in the Hideout near the Sacrifice Mirror. You’ll be able to test your mic level and how you sound before recording a message with your Light of Rebellion. NEW STORE ASSETS {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/95bc90ecf20fbbdb55b98197637fbf5307ea756c.png – To celebrate our new PJ Party mission, we’ve added four festive pajama sets in the Shop (complete with tops and bottoms). And we know the holidays wouldn’t be complete without an ugly sweater, so we’ve added two. NEIGHBORHOOD DECORATIONS {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/3d150af354ceb245197a483f5b5a0ba5561959d2.png – Take in the holiday view at the decorations strung about the neighborhood in Redacre and the Old Growth Daycare. BUG FIXES/IMPROVEMENTS – You can now carry bodies up ladders and open doors while holding them. – Fix for "tranq dart was consumed and not use...The Blackout Club's suburban gods are talking backNov 28, 2019 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun Gods tend to be a bit on the quiet side. You can leave ’em a voice-mail, but it’s rare enough that they’ll ever answer back. For some of The Blackout Club‘s teen detectives, though, the gods have been quite vocal indeed. Question’s co-op horror has a trick up its sleeve. The supernatural forces of 80s suburbia have been sliding into voice chat, turning spooky multiplayer adventures into a strange sort of participatory theatre. (more…) Nominate The Blackout Club for Most Innovative Gameplay for The Steam AwardsNov 27, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsThe Blackout Club provides a unique and ever-evolving “Live Storytelling” experience thanks to the innovative Enhanced Horror System (EHS). We use the term “Live Storytelling” to describe our strategy of allowing players to interact with fictional characters of our game world (Daimons) in a completely improvisational way using live performers, and having those performers reply with detail and nuance. The world of The Blackout Club keeps changing and any encounters with these Daimons are ephemeral and one-of-a-kind. The game's narrative centers on a mercurial relationship between these Daimons – that live in the heroes' heads and may influence their decisions – and the terrifying ramifications of a world where such entities exist. We wanted to build an experience that generates the feeling that this game's gods are actually watching – and occasionally, truly speak to mortals by name – creating a completely distinctive and personalized gaming experience. To our knowledge, The Blackout Club is one of the first games to attempt anything like this, and we'd be so humbled if you considered The Blackout Club for Most Innovative Gameplay for The Steam Awards. The Blackout Club's live player interactions are wildNov 10, 2019 - PC GamerThe Blackout Club is a multiplayer horror game about teenagers sneaking around at night trying to avoid sleepwalking adult cultists in their hometown of Redacre. If you opt-in to its "Enhanced Horror" setting The Blackout Club will have access to your microphone, listening in so that the developers can mess with you personally. Spoilers follow, as these interactions are revealing both the game's lore and unfolding a plot as it happens. Most recently they've involved a being called DANCE-FOR-US (DFU for short) who is an ally of the players, encouraging them to dance and not be afraid. Also, she may have taken some of them to the moon briefly? The Blackout Club's disembodied Voices can teleport players around so they're not being chased or running around on rooftops while interacting. These interactions are portrayed by actual voice actors, live. As you can see in the video uploaded by @LeighaSolo above, an actor chats to the players in-character, even referring to them by name, getting to know them a little before the event kicks off and suddenly things stop being chatty and start getting dark. Players have been recording similar interactions in the months since The Blackout Club was released (and even before that during the beta), like this conversation with DIE-FOR-YOU below. It's a fascinating way to tell a story, and there's not much else like it in videogames. Halloween UpdateOct 16, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsThe Blackout Club Halloween Update is live! Redacre has undergone a spooktacular transformation for the Halloween season. Sneering pumpkins, festive lights, witches and ghouls adorn the houses of Hoadly, but that’s not all of the treats we have in store for you. You can expect three new missions, stealth gameplay tweaks, and new additions to the store like Halloween masks, spooky shirts and hideout decorations. Skulk around the neighborhood searching for buckets of rotten eggs placed in strategic locations. Each egg may have a “special” message for one lucky Lucid! Chuck your eggs at Lucids as many times as it takes to make them seem sick or grossed out (oh you’ll know). This level unlocks once you’ve scrambled up to Level 5! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/86b5c9ab1e01e9f33ac04a60e50587b5f4d695d2.gif Dance Fever In Redacre, music is always more than it seems...right? This Halloween, it’s up to you to put the pep back in the enemy’s steps. Get as many as you can to rattle some bones in a Redacre dance-off by playing a song on your phone. But heed our warning: Angels don’t dance. The Shape is always watching, so dance if you dare. You won’t be able to dance the night away and unlock this mission until you reach Level 3. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32222500/223a5c131e8594cfd42a8fde6d95acf97606fd70.png Signal Relay Build a network of connected relays between two endpoints in the maze. New Halloween missions begin unlocking once you reach Level 3. We’ve also made adjustments so that some missions unlock at different levels than they have in the past. It's a straightforward and relatable scenario. Then that student wakes up, alone but for one other student asleep in the auditorium, during the start of a supernatural typhoon. The colors are muted and dark, and everything's in shadows.  This is 1960s Taiwan, and as the game goes on the school changes. It becomes a corpse-filled world entrenched in horror and history during Taiwan's "White Terror," a 38-year-long period of martial law. Detention is not the only game to explore the potential for schools to be spooky. They've appeared in the likes of Danganronpa, Silent Hill, Obscure, The Secret World, White Day: A Labyrinth Named School, Last Year: The Nightmare, and plenty more.  Each of these games take something that's familiar—a place that's formative in complex ways for many of us. In theory a school is a place for learning, a place where we should feel safe. But the reality is that school is often not that for many people. Horrors of the reality include bullying and violence, which videogames play off.  In Detention, the supernatural elements are built on the real history of Taiwan, and the story and the horror are embedded in that history. Red Candle Games uses the White Terror period, where academics were prosecuted "for fear that they might be communist sympathizers or resist Nationalist rule," according to the Taipei Times, to show that schools became places where fear was common during the period. At the story's center are students and teachers, one smuggling banned books into the school for an illegal book club. The supernatural element only reinforces that historical horror. White Day: A Labyrinth Named School similarly uses history to influence its horror. In this game, which is set in Korea and made by a Korean developer, the school was once a hospital during the Korean War—and naturally, it's now haunted. Meanwhile, Last Year: The Nightmare has a more traditional horror movie feel, pitting five teenagers against a single murderer. The twist? It's five actual players against one, which is why it's frequently called "asymmetrical horror." The act of being hunted through a school echoes memories of bullying and violence. ...due to how noisy and lively they are during the day, places meant for children have a deeply somber quality when they close for the night. Jordan Thomas The Blackout Club, by developer Question, is a mix of both approaches. It uses the history of an area for inspiration—this time the United States National Radio Quiet Zone, where cellular and radio transmission towers and other devices are discouraged—paired with a creepy setting and systems that encourage terror. The game takes place in a fictional town in Virginia called Redacre, a quiet suburb that doesn't even ha...Wot I Think: The Blackout ClubAug 16, 2019 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun Developer: Question Games Publisher: Question Games Release: Out now On: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One From: Steam Price: 24/$30/ 25 Few things are as terrifying, or as potent in piercing morning s sedate veil, as the sudden outburst of an adult Canadian man, shrieking THE SHAPE. THE SHAPE IS COMING, through your desktop speakers. In the Canadian adult s defence, however, one of those few things is The Shape itself: the Big Bad of stealthy co-op spookfest The Blackout Club. A relentless spectral apparition, only visible as a humanoid heat-blotch when you close your (in-game) eyes, The Shape is an omnipresent threat in TBC s uncanny suburbs, and the labyrinths beneath them. Whatever procedural fetch quests you and your one-to-four fellow players are tasked with during the game s 10-30 minute matches, The Shape will factor into your game plan. (more…) The Blackout Club review - a tense cooperative horror hampered by a sleep-inducing grindJul 31, 2019 - EurogamerThe Blackout Club is a co-operative crouch 'em-up that sees up-to four players assume the role of wily American teenagers who form a backwoods society dedicated to figuring out what the heckin' flip is wrong with their neighbourhood. Why do they keep waking up in strange places with blood on their clothes? Why are their parents sleepwalking in the street at night? And what is that weird-ass music emanating from underneath their homes? A lazy person might describe it as Thief meets Left4Dead. A lazy person, but also a correct one. Setting up their headquarters in an abandoned rail-carriage, each night sees your teenage team embark on a mission into the neighbourhood to learn more about the mysterious entity invading your dreams. These missions are usually a combination of two randomly selected objectives, which could involve anything from putting up Blackout Club recruitment posters to following a trail of blood and seeing where it leads. You start out scouting the neighbourhood itself, but you'll almost always end up venturing beneath the houses, into a warren of white-walled tunnels simply known as "The Maze". Developers Question have a strong heritage in immersive sim design, with credits that include Bioshock, Neon Struct, and Thief: Deadly Shadows. This heritage is apparent both in the style and systems of The Blackout Club. The neighbourhood's endless night is drawn in a rich, saturated palette reminiscent of Rapture's bloom-lit architecture, where the sky is a deep-ocean blue and each light is glaringly bright, emphasising just how visible you are when illuminated by them. Read more The Blackout Club emerges from the horrors of early accessJul 30, 2019 - Rock, Paper, Shotgun If your cult leans into a certain kind of kooky, pop culture has taught me there’s a good chance some kids will come after you. The brave stalwarts of The Blackout Club have spent the past eight months defending humanity from the weakened prism of early access, but now the game’s properly out and they’ll have to step up their game. The spooky, co-opey stealth and hijinks ’em up is marking its launch with a new area. That would be a daycare centre, described by developers Question as “perfectly normal”. Mhmmmm. Thanks to all the players who joined us on the journey to get here and who helped us grow and improve the game over the past 8 months! OLD GROWTH The biggest addition with the release of 1.0 is the 3rd large above ground region, "Old Growth". Old Growth is home to a perfectly normal daycare facility used by many families in Redacre. It is recommended you don't poke around in the basement though, employees only. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/82246ffe6fbcb55ab82bceeb659346e42d8973de.jpg It also includes some woods and other outdoor spaces, including a playground. The size of Old Growth is close to the size of the two existing above ground areas combined and it brings with it new connections to the maze. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/1488e065507ac589580e02713496dbb20e3722f5.jpg FIXES AND POLISH In addition, the release into 1.0 brings a bunch of fixes and further polish to the game. Some areas that received particular attention are issues with collision that could make trees a pain to navigate around, problems with AI pathfinding, fixes to numerous level art issues, and lots more. For a full list, look here. RUSSIAN SUBTITLES Do to popular demand the 1.0 build has added Russian subtitles and interface! As we have said since entering early access, with full launch comes a price increase. The game has far more to offer than it did when we first released in October, and the price has increased to reflect that. Thanks again to everyone who has joined the club, we look forward to welcoming many more! Have fun uncovering the many mysteries that lie above and below Redacre's streets, and don't forget to close your eyes. -QuestionThe Blackout Club sneaks out of early access next monthJun 28, 2019 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunSpooky co-op stealth ’em up The Blackout Club leaves early access on July 30th, after a short but busy run of updates. For those fashionably late (or just on time, really) to the party, it’s a four-player (or five, with invasions) immersive sim about a band of teens investigating a very haunted town. Here, sleeping townsfolk rise with eyes still closed, don masks and perform strange rituals in the streets and the tunnels below the town. It’s developed by Question (The Magic Circle) with a team including talent from Thief, Bioshock 2 and Eldritch – these folks know their sneaking. (more…) Co-op horror game The Blackout Club emerges from Early Access in JulyJun 28, 2019 - PC GamerThe co-op horror game The Blackout Club, about a group of kids investigating a horrific mystery in their spooky neighborhood, made a big impression when we looked at it last year, just ahead of its October 2018 launch on Steam Early Access: James called it "a legitimately terrifying cooperative game where the horror emerges from clever systems and enemies designed to ratchet up the tension using the same clear, unrelenting logic of the best movie monsters." That's pretty high praise, and there have been multiple updates since then, which have fixed bugs and made performance improvements, and also added significant new content including missions, areas, and more oddball (that is, freaky-sounding) stuff like the Enhanced Horror System, which enables the game to record your "vocalizations" while you play (without impacting other microphone settings) and then "use it to create the most immersive possible horror experience, both for you and other players." It's all apparently coming together well, as developer Question has announced that The Blackout Club will leave Early Access and go into full release on July 30. The full and proper launch of the game will see more fixes and polish, and the addition of a large new above-ground region. It will also bring about an increase on the $20 Early Access price—although it's currently on sale for $16/£12/€13 in the Steam Summer Sale. It is a great time to be here, since once the game launches the price will go up, so this is best deal for The Blackout Club that will exist for quite some time. With the launch into 1.0 we will be opening up a large new region above ground as well as more polish and bug fixes! Now is the perfect time to get in and help the club fight back against what is happening in and under their town before the game leaves Early Access. We have also released a hotfix that fixes a number of issues that users have reported since the last update, for a list of the changes, you can look here. Welcome to Redacre, we're happy to have you! With this update lots has changed as we get closer to release of 1.0. We have totally overhauled the reward system, implemented LOTS of big performance optimizations, and done a lot of polish work on the neighborhood. So lets get into the details! ECONOMY AND REWARDS SNACKS Rewards have been changed to introduce a new reward type on mission complete: Snacks. Snacks are traded in the new store located on the customization menu for character and hideout customizations (more about those below). You can only get snacks by completing missions, they are never purchased with real money, so this is not introducing microtransactions. At the end of a mission you earn a badge based on the percentage of the possible XP you earned. The higher the badge, the more snacks you will receive. This means that to really get the most snacks, bonus evidence is important. In addition, as you level up, snacks and XP rewards will also rise to account for the bigger level (more ground to cover) and increased difficulty. Along with this the level curve has been adjusted to be less grindy. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/bae8bc79bcb56dfb17284c7279597d03703b1b10.png THE STORE With the addition of snacks comes a store where you trade them for customizations. The store has a weekly stock and a daily special. The weekly selection updates every week, and the daily every day (probably obvious). HIDEOUT CUSTOMIZATIONS You can now purchase customizations for your hideout with snacks! These come in the form of props and posters. When you purchase one you choose where to place it in the customization menu. In addition, when joining another person's game your customizations will come with you as long as the host doesn't have anything already in that slot! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/8604d212ae4eda192dcb0d35c50835e5446199ba.png SOME HIGHLIGHTS OF THE NEW SYSTEM We have added lots of items to the "Accessories" category of customizations. These include a variety of masks, bandanas, and some other surprises. More clothing options have been added to the other categories as well. NO MORE DUPES! Since you choose what rewards to spend snacks on you never get duplicate items. They are no longer randomly dropped on mission complete. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/61aa7ee2a24bfe4b2f02f5c0fa13e06b9d61e0c5.png SUPPLY DROPS You can also now use snacks in missions for special favors from club headquarters! New Supply Drops have been added to the game in the form of Firework Stations - above ground and Contraband Lockers - in the maze. For some snacks you can request a specific item that you really need and the club will air drop it or send you the code for the locker! We've also added a new experimental "Screenshot Mode" by popular request, which allows you to disable the HUD for a more immersive gameplay experience, or just to grab sweet beautiful screenshots. Press Alt+V to toggle this on/off. :) You will find a new Club Handbook in the Hideout . This is a simple tutorial user guide to make our new user experience cleaner. (Let us know in the forums what else you wish you knew when starting the game, so we can improve the experience for future new players!) and more! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/c3ed15c6a642c2b835b4766388d5e8e9392c422f.png BALANCE CHANGES: The Prank Call skill tree received the most attention this update, and in general has received a bit of a nerf. The cooldown on this ability has been increased, and enemies will no longer fall for the entire prank call recording before hanging up. Also, durations have been added for hacked cameras and traps, so work fast! We've made a bunch of background improvements to AI including their pathfinding in tight spaces and areas which require you to crouch. Some of your favorite hiding places may not be so safe in the future! The LUCKY LOOT power has also changed to allow you to get a chance for double loot items for all field items in chests, not just ammo types. and more! Check out the full notes linked above for the rest (there's a lot more!). We didn't even mention all the new UI, including a new Ritual Menu! Now you can get rid of that body in style, before the Lucids get to you! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/714a3182b6a9faff03e5eb56279a42749a9695dc.jpg As always, we love to hear your thoughts in the comments and forums. This update brings several new maze areas and connections, a new mission, lots of improved UI, and fixes in numerous areas! NEW ADDITIONS NEW MISSION: Hide The Evidence Uh-oh, looks like a club member has caused a nasty bit of trouble during a blackout (it involves doves and blood, ewww). If CHORUS finds out it could mean big trouble. Find and remove the evidence, receive bonus XP for cleaning up the trail they left in their wake! NEW AREA: The Barracks https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/37586586f7acbb1248b656979ec3a45e1fce4067.jpg Some of the sleepers no longer leave the maze, they have been fully consumed. This is where they live. NEW AREAS: Somniloquy(s) https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/00aac788ccd8b31a14385b6b60de65ade9601cfc.jpg A pair of areas with an unknown purpose. What are those smoke filled chambers? Why are there two of these large rooms isolated by space and sound insulation? The maze keeps its secrets.... NEW UI We have updated quite a bit of the UI! Leaderboards, Journals, Team Info, Inventory, and Session Menus have all been overhauled. Of particular note, the new session menu asks hosts to specify whether they would prefer a public or friends only game. We are hoping this resolves some of the confusion that has led some to kick players when they join mid-game. GAMEPLAY CHANGES When performing a ritual with a Light of Rebellion you will now be asked to specify what Voice you want your sacrifice to go to. What does that mean? Only one way to find out. Indomitable has been nerfed. We discovered that Indomitable was refilling faster than we intended, allowing it to be too much of a speed run build. We have rebalanced the amount of injury required to recharge the power. Sorry to all who got used to lots of free sprinting! Added ability to Opt-Out of Stalker Mode. Some players have said they would like to no longer be stalked after deciding the mode is not for them. We added a button in the Options Menu that will reset your stalker settings. This means that you will be invaded ONE MORE TIME if you reset, but after that you will not be invaded as a host if you don't stalk anyone else. This option is only available to those who have stalked other players (meaning they have opted-in) FIXES AND OPTIMIZATIONS This update features a number of fixes and attempts to make the game run better. Some highlights are: Changes to replication to reduce the CPU load on the host machine Ragdoll improvements for AI (should be less juddery, react better to crossbow) Many, many UI fixes Fix for AI getting into an unresponsive state Fix for getting stuck in the sleeping bag on load (rare, but very annoying) Fixes to footstep guide to prevent it walking into the sky for no good reason And More...EARLY ACCESS UPDATE #6: THE PLEXUSFeb 8, 2019 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/24e6dcb5dbcc74179c09ed11ddfcaa48a59a6aaa.gif Welcome to the sixth major update to The Blackout Club since entering Early Access last Halloween! This update brings some new areas to the maze, a new mission, and a number of tweaks and changes to gameplay! NEW ADDITIONS NEW MISSION: Drone Repair. In this mission the kids are tasked with repairing a wounded drone, then following it as it leads them to its dropped payload! You might find some extra bonus evidence along the way. ;) NEW AREA: The Plexus https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/ad1a8436a33d9710beb781c7816a88966bd4dda3.jpg A large new area to the maze that unlocks at level 8. NEW AREA: Signal Relay https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32222500/534c8dc30ffbaf0432c8a247c2a762f72f22dfa1.jpg A smaller area behind The Plexus that unlocks at level 9. GAMEPLAY CHANGES Large changes have been made to some items, as well as a Major Power track we introduced last update, and some other balance changes to the Stalker mode which we hope will address some frustrations people told us about. The underground Maze has some new connections, Stun Guns no longer require 9V batteries, and we started work on a new customization category, Accessories! Flashbangs and tranq darts will no longer freeze kids OR stalkers in place. Flashbangs temporarily blind you and rotate you in a random direction (kinda like pin the tail on the donkey, if you ever played that as a kid). Watch out or you might run right into your enemy's arms! Tranq darts now deplete stamina completely and prevent stamina regen briefly. They also inflict a small wound, lowering overall stamina. The intent is for these to no longer be guaranteed wins for either the kids or the stalker, we will be watching how these changes play out! The INDOMITABLE power track now grants infinite sprint in addition to wound invulnerability for its duration. We felt this power was weak compared to the others and needed some buffing. It might be too OP now... let us know! The STUN GUN no longer requires batteries, but will recharge automatically over time. You can see the recharge on the battery meter on the stun gun when holding it. We felt this item needed a buff to feel as useful as the others. This also means that 9V batteries have been removed from the loot tables. New customization category: Accessories. There is a new category of customizations now for customizations we will be adding in the future. There is not much in it yet (one thing), but that will change in future updates. New connections in the maze. We have connected areas in the maze with new routes to give players more options when navigating. We also made some adjustments to Dream Therapy to force players to go deeper inside when passing through. Achievements Implemented! Players can now receive Steam achievements when playing the game. :) Subtitles added for A...
