My target? The Heart of the World Tree, a big shiny blob of Amber hidden deep inside the Tower of Akenash, a giant tower in human territory. Why? Because Amber is power. It’s the sweet, addictive, glowing juice that makes me me. Pathetic, really. But don’t worry, I’m here to fix your ignorance. New heists, new tricks, new powers, same dumb Inquisition, and plenty of new suckers to outsmart. In Styx: Blades of Greed, I’m done taking orders. This time, I make the rules, and I’m after the dangerous treasure yet: Quartz. You wanted to take the little oik and clean his fingernails, boot him into a bathtub, and scrub him down til he shone like an emerald. In his first adventure, the titular goblin (he’d smirk at being called titular) did some decent stealth, stabbing and scurrying through a handful of levels that were solid if unspectacular. It all worked fairly well but it didn’t pack any real surprises. The titular goblin’s aerial abilities have been improved and expanded. Swing from ropes and attack from above with a slew of new tools such as the crossbow, with a range of different bolts such as the non-lethal poison bolt. One of the new upgradeable abilities is the cocoon, which is a craftable item that you can throw to spawn your clone at a distance. Another new ability is called Rebirth, which teleports Styx to his clone’s location, killing it in the process.
