Stray Gods The Roleplaying Musical

Stray Gods, a brand new game announcement and an upcoming Kickstarter!Apr 2, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHappy April folks! We hope you survived April Fools okay. We come bearing news! Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical First of all, as we mentioned in our 2024 sign off, Stray Gods will always be adored by us, but won't be receiving any further updates at this time. However, this doesn't mean we don't have more potential Stray Gods surprises in the pipeline... but no news just yet! We'll always be in touch here to let you know about anything new and exciting and Stray Gods related, but for the next little while, our focus is on what's next - and with that... Today we're unbelievably thrilled to announce Malys, coming this year and coming soon to Kickstarter! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42123933/f5ba148e950dc7d9313568a7bf2dd94c57b8c327.jpg If you've been paying attention on our socials, you might've noticed we've been teasing something for a little while. As Noah, former priest turned exorcist and demon hunter, you ride the streets of a festering city in the dead of night. The city teems with demons, and among them lies your prey: Malys, a demon of extraordinary cunning and power. Use your deck to expose the rot within. Find unique combinations and strategies to withstand the horrors. Help the hopeless and free the possessed, or die in the attempt… over and over again. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42123933/08a550287c417acda3ac18d2bdf705e50ef93436.png FAQS If you're signed up to our newsletter you might've seen us address some questions from players, but just in case you missed it... Is Malys set in the Stray Gods universe? Malys is a brand new adventure in a brand new world. We're leaving Stray Gods on the shelf for now, but not necessarily forever. Will there be romance in Malys? There aren't any planned romance mechanics for Malys at this time. There is absolutely yearning. There will always be yearning. Is Malys a musical? Malys is not a musical, but music and sound will always be core to the games we make. We aren't saying we'll never go back to the musical format, but we're excited to explore new genres as a team. Why a roguelite deckbuilder? Honestly? If you've played or read anything by our creative director David Gaider, you probably know he loves demons. What you might not know is that he also loves deckbuilders. It’s a game genre that David is a real fan of. Malys is a concept that's been burning away in Dave for a long time - just like Stray Gods existed conceptually way back when he worked at Bioware. We wanted to take our love for characters and genre-twisting stories to tackle a brand new adventure, and that adventure is Malys. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/42123933/b6f4459ec417d43f0e1d528aa15d3a3b36a25059.png Just like we brought Stray Gods to Fig, we're now bringing Malys to Kickstarter in a few weeks. We know that working with all of you to get feedback and collaborate on the final phase of development is going to give Malys the best chance of success. With your help, we can work with you through the Kickstarter to allow us to get a full 1.0 in your hands within...Stray Gods and Orpheus in the Myths and Legends Sale!Jan 29, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsWe're part of the Myths and Legends sale, and we thought we'd dig back into our own journey of taking well known characters (like the Greek Gods) and putting a new spin on them. In this article by Screenrant, David Gaider our lead writer and co-founder went into some more detail. You're taking existing characters that everyone's familiar with, but we're supporting them. We're thinking, "Okay, what if they had continued to live? How would they have changed?" They have all these stories, so it was great for me to pick and choose which ones to use. "Oh, that story was kind of fake, but there's a kernel of truth to this one," and it grows from there. That was a fun process. Persephone, for example, who's played by Mary Elizabeth McGlynn. Everybody knows her story, and that she was kidnapped by Hades and brought down to the Underworld and made its queen. But she is sort of annoyed that's where everyone thinks her story ended. In this, Persephone grew very angry and bitter at Hades. She ended up killing him and usurping his throne, and the rest said, "That's not cool, you shouldn't kill other idols," and they stripped her of her throne. So, she's carried all this bitterness; this grudge against her brothers and sisters all this time. And they all have this baggage that's come with them. If you know the story of the Greek gods, they're a messy bunch. So much drama; so much that we had to work with. Really, it was a matter of figuring how this version of them works over the years. They've all died numerous times, so they all look very different. They're different people but, even so, they have those memories that stretch back for thousands of years. They never just let anything go. Funny thing is that the older gods—Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Ares—they've all disappeared or died over the years. The chorus that you encounter, they are the rulers of the islands. But there are other ones that you read into, who have assumed a new importance now that the elders are gone. Because the gods, while they've been around for so long, are all lost in their individual ways. Persephone is lost in her anger. Apollo is the God of prophecy, but prophecies trap you once you know them. So every time he tries to use his power to help, he actually ends up causing more harm than not. He feels like he can't do anything or create change. He feels helpless and kind of depressed. They're all kind of lost, and it's up to Grace to see if she can find them. What's your favourite myth or legend? You can check out the sale here.Stray Gods on sale, what's next, and a signoff for 2024...Dec 19, 2024 - Community Announcements2024 went so quickly and we’re thrilled to have had you with us along the way. Love, Summerfall StudiosMyth and Music Part Two: YouTube Premiere!Dec 11, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsWhat a year! We don’t know about you, but Summerfall is very keen to be taking some time over the holidays to relax and regroup after a huge year for us... but one last thing before we go! Some of you may have seen it live, others as a VOD, or even here on Steam - back in April of this year, we held a show called Myth and Music: An Evening with Stray Gods live at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles., where we debuted a number of songs from the game, revealed our cast, and dropped the release date trailer for Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical - and streamed it all on the Critical Role Twitch. You can watch part one here. However! There was a second portion to this show that we kept as a secret - that included performances from Laura Bailey, Troy Baker and Anjali Bhimani and an interview with David Gaider and Austin Wintory. These elements were very spoilery to the full game, and we wanted you to get the chance to enjoy the surprises of Stray Gods in real time. Now that some time has passed since release, we're so thrilled to share with you the NEVER BEFORE SEEN second part of our Myth and Music: An Evening With Stray Gods live event. The 30 minute video will be released as a YouTube Premiere on December 13 at 6pm PST/December 14 at 1pm AEDT, with the Summerfall team on hand in the chat to provide fun facts during the premiere! Please join us as we watch and reflect on the event as a team. Happy holidays from all of us - we hope you like your gift. Summerfall Studios We Need Your Help for the Steam Awards!Nov 21, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsIt's been almost THREE ENTIRE months since we released Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical and things haven't slowed down! We've had award nominations (and some wins), live fashion shows, streams and more. Now, as the holidays approach (extremely quickly) we're asking for your help in the upcoming Steam Awards for 2023. Whether you've listened to one playthrough or one hundred, we hope you understand just how much love and care went into creating a soundtrack that could tell Grace's story how YOU saw it. With four soundtracks on Spotify (that still don't nearly cover all the potential choices and song paths you can take), music is the core of what makes Stray Gods special. The amount of music we crafted for this game would require you to play once every day for 75 years (a total of 27,375 playthroughs) in order to hear everything. Even now, three months on, only 1.1% of you have unlocked the Maestro achievement - and it required a lot of community work and love to figure out how! All this to say - if you enjoyed Stray Gods, if you loved the music, if Adrift sneaks into your brain once a week and refuses to leave, we'd deeply appreciate your nomination for Best Soundtrack in this years Steam Awards. Every nomination, award, and celebration helps us as a studio and as a team. Every time you share the game with a friend, wishlist us, leave a review, we are encouraged and delighted. Thank you for playing Stray Gods - we hope it means as much to you as it does to us!Stray Gods is GRAMMY nominated?!Nov 13, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsSome of you might've seen the news - we're nominated for a GRAMMY. WHAT?! It's taken an entire weekend for us to even wrap our heads around this. We're absolutely over the moon to share this incredible news with you. Your passion, dedication, and support have propelled us to new heights, and we're beyond grateful for the journey we've taken together. Whether you've been with us from the beginning or just joined the adventure, your enthusiasm has been our driving force. A huge congratulations has to - of course - go to the ever-brilliant Austin Wintory, Montaigne, Tripod, and the rest of the music team who crafted the soul-stirring melodies and epic soundscapes that made Stray Gods a truly memorable experience. Shout out to the other incredible nominees, a massive year for games. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this possible. Let's celebrate together and, who knows, maybe we'll be adding a shiny Grammy to our trophy collection! https://pbs.twimg.com/media/F-lfztfaEAAppUn?format=jpg&name=mediumStray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is ON SALE!Nov 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsStray Gods... more like SALE GODS! Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical - Patch #1.2Sep 7, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey folks, We recently released a patch with a number of fixes but unfortunately upon release some players encountered unexplained crashes. Because of this, we made the decision to roll it back. We're happy to say we're releasing a new patch today! This patch includes the following fixes: Fixed voiceover equalisation, which brings the volume of each character’s VO into alignment. Fixed a number of issues that were causing crashes. Fixed various issues where binding actions to specific keys didn't work as intended. Fixed some localisation issues. Removed brackets from some speaker labels to make them more readable. (The last encore for our beloved ‘Ibothi’ and ‘Ialli’) Fixed an issue where you could get similar conversations with Pan one after the other during the Medusa storyline. Thank you again for your support and feedback. As always, if you encounter any further issues please reach out to us via our support form so our team can investigate. And a 5 6 7 8!Patch RollbackSep 2, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone! Thank you so much for your enthusiasm for Stray Gods as we continue to improve the game. Earlier today, we soft launched a Patch #1.1 on Steam, which aimed to address the audio imbalance, localisation fixes, some keybinding issues, and more. However, we are receiving reports that the patch is causing some game crashes. We have decided the best course of action is to roll back this patch and re-release it after we’ve remedied the problem. We are very thankful of the patience of our community!Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical - Patch #1.1Sep 1, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey folks! We hope you have been enjoying your ‘time to shine’ with our idols in Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical. Thank you again for all of your feedback and bug reports. They have enabled us to investigate and address a number of issues which have been fixed in today’s patch. The most commonly reported issue was the uneven volume levels, and that has now been corrected. Our gods are now in perfect harmony with one another - no more extra quiet Muses or super sonic Goddesses to be seen! In today's patch we have: Fixed voiceover equalisation, which brings the volume of each character’s VO into alignment. Fixed a number of issues that were causing crashes. Fixed various issues where binding actions to specific keys didn't work as intended. Fixed some localisation issues. Removed brackets from some speaker labels to make them more readable. (A fond farewell to ‘Ibothi’ and ‘Ialli’) If you encounter any further issues please report them via our bug report form for our team to investigate. May the Chorus judge you kindly!
