Your feedback has inspired many of the changes in this major patch. We’re grateful to those of you who stream, watch and talk about tournament games and theorycraft about the game - big shoutout to all of you involved! In this patch, we have tweaked a whole bunch of values across all factions, plus we’ve made some changes to mechanics that require plenty of testing to make sure they deliver a great gameplay experience Your feedback helped shape this patch, so we hope you’ll enjoy the changes. If you notice anything that seems a little out of balance, let us know - the SpellForce Discord is a great place to share your suggestions or report a bug, and also a great place to meet other SpellForce players And we’re not done yet! You can look forward to more improvements in the future - in the meantime, keep sharing your feedback and streams with us. Thank you! We have an additional surprise for you: Inspired by the famous "Spandauer Squad", we sent our AI Commanders into a bootcamp to make them stronger than ever! The "Spandau AI" not only learned how to play more optimal in general, it also studied the builds and playstyles from competitive players. It will also spawn Titans, attack players more aggressively and put more pressure on. We hope that you have a lot fun playing against this new AI and are looking forward to your feedback! Changelog Bugfixes: Fixed players in skirmish games being unable to select any RTS faction not owned by the host Fixed a problem where healthbar size wasn't updated appropriately while the entity in question was selected Fixed a problem where allied entities where sometimes not recognized as visible (even though they actually were) Fixed crash when trying to launch game while the previously selected graphics adapter (GPU) is not available Fixed incorrect tooltip descriptions being displayed for a few settings in the options menu Balance Patch Notes These changes have the goal to increase both spell and unit variety for each faction. For some, this also includes some nerfs in certain stages of the game, while also including buffs at other stages. Especially Trolls are in a good spot right now and see a good amount of unit variety. To balance their power while preserving this variety, the changes are a bit more subtle. The Plague Bringer got a couple of reworked abilities to see better spell variety, we hope you like them! For other factions, we wanted to address certain issues in specific stages of the game while also making more units more interesting. Some changes, such as the Dwarves' Earth Shaper, might need more drastical changes in the future. This test will serve as a foundation for future adjustments. With Fallen God, every edition of SpellForce 3 will get a free update: Ranked Multiplayer. This mode will allow you to challenge other players to decide who is the ultimate Commander of Eo. Ranked Play {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/deacc1f01f4056bcb4c385bd2f700a2323618988.png What faction you play with is up to you - but the map will be decided by the game. When heading into the versus screen, you'll be shown an overview of playable factions and playable maps. You can choose any of the six playable factions, or roll the dice and let the game decide for you! For each faction, you will have a separate Ranked Rating. This Ranked Rating will have an initial value, placing you right in the middle of the playing field. Playing ranked games with a certain faction will adjust your Ranked Rating for this faction, allowing you to play all factions in Ranked Play without having to worry about conflicting skill levels and ratings. Matchmaking The game will automatically pick both opponent and map for you. The Ranked Map Pool consists of maps specifically tailored for competitive play in collaboration with our community. To make things fair, you can dislike up to 3 maps. These maps will have the lowest priority during automatic selection, but can still be chosen by the game if no match would otherwise be found within a reasonable amount of time. Whether you choose unranked or ranked, we have implemented a new matchmaking system that will make sure you will always face opponents of similar skill level and experience. If you decide to play an unranked match, you will not lose or win any points and will also not be placed into any competitive leagues or leaderboards. Leaderboards {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/2e6ff090ce3d8f52cb4554d2e42abd31eb23936b.png The Top 100 will be visible to everyone ingame! Your success in Ranked Play will earn you a spot in one of our 5 leagues as well as the leaderboards. Depending on your success, you will be placed into one of the following leagues: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, or Diamond. The very best of the best will also be listed in our Top 100 and remembered as legendary Commanders of Eo! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/c169fb3686b17997cc1dd592e0ae5db061071ea0.png{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/a0c2ff004f793d5484aea60f5e1643328f97b23c.png Depending on your performance, you will gain or lose points. Facing off against opponents in ranked games means that every match counts: winning or losing will result in points being added or removed from your Ranked Rating. You will have to slowly climb the ranks and prove your worth as a Commander over time. In addition to Ranked Rating points, ranked games will also award experience for your faction level, to show how experienced you are with a certain faction. To become the very best, however, you need to master all 6 competing Factions of Eo! SpellForce 3: Multiplayer Beta Want to jump right in? We have a surprise for you! Think again!Oct 18, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/839df85a565fdde22a0a513b457b32f0fc99c932.jpg Just like the Trolls, the continent of Urgath is full of secrets, with many places to discover and explore. When you think of a troll, what comes to mind? Cruel comments left underneath a YouTube video? A grumpy beast with a taste for goats and living under bridges? A dumb monster who can only communicate in grunts? How about a reluctant leader faced with impossible choices in the fight for his tribe’s survival? Or a weary shaman whose only dream is for a home his tribe can call their own? Or even a sweet giant who hangs on his big brother’s every word? Will the Moonkin survive? That’s down to you SpellForce 3: Fallen God introduces you to the Moonkin, a tribe of trolls on the brink of extinction who look to Akrog, their new Chieftain, to find a way to survive on the beautiful, deadly continent of Urgath. You play as Akrog, who is joined in his mission by elder shaman Grungwar, the tribe's wisest troll, and Akrog's good friend Zazka, the tribe's grumpiest troll. Akrog's giant of a younger brother, Noag, stays close to Akrog too, ready to smash any obstacles (or enemies) that stand in their way. Help them stay one step ahead of the orcs who want to enslave them and the Tusk Hunters who want to kill them in the name of gold. As the Chieftain of the tribe, your choices will have consequences for the trolls who follow you and for the kind of troll your little brother will grow up to be. The survival of the Moonkin trolls is in your hands, so choose wisely. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/751efc351ce97174f349676aa8d2dce41df99304.jpg{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/d8dc6ec7cd145e2e023220b999a1995927396876.jpg There is more to the Trolls than you might expect, and during your journey you will encounter many of them. Crafty trolls with impressive skills Trolls are too big to wield the sword of a brittlebone (a human, elf or dark elf) without looking a little awkward, so instead they break down the brittlebone weapons and armor they find, using its raw materials to craft something that better suits their massive size and strength. Like a Big Crush-Stick, or maybe a fearsome Throwing-Spike. Their simple technology is not a disadvantage at all: any resource that others have discarded might have a use for the Trolls, so they are always on the lookout for things they can salvage to craft into something useful. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steam/apps/1154040/extras/4_salvaging.gif?t=1603040552 Troll technology might be primitive, but they sure are a crafty bunch. The Moonkin trolls are more skilled than you might expect, too. As well as being able to choose a secondary ability tree to suit the way you want to play, each hero in the main party has their own ability tree with powerful new spells and perks that are unique to them. The combination of ability trees you choose makes a difference, unlocking a powerful spell that combines the best of both trees. Special story abilities for each hero wi...Meet the Trolls of the Moonkin TribeOct 7, 2020 - Community Announcements"Your dwindling, nomadic tribe of trolls has just one goal: survival. Plagued by vicious poachers for your precious tusks and weakened by disease, hope is almost lost - until an enigmatic Elven stranger offers you, the young chieftain Akrog, a path to salvation: you must resurrect a fallen god.” In SpellForce 3: Fallen God, the destiny of the Trolls is in your hands during the 20+ hour campaign. You will discover that their intimidating appearance is not the only unique trait they have in the world of Eo. During the campaign, you will learn more about the history of the Trolls and their struggle to survive in a hostile world. Today, we are focusing on how they function as a playable faction in SpellForce 3: Fallen God. Their way of fighting {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/1a53aed0a2e11033bfaf22ba9ee36af086b33743.jpg Even the basic Smasher is a mighty force against Elven combat units. Fighter Trolls are more powerful than any other military unit and despite being their basic combat unit, a couple of Smashers are able to take down a sizable amount of enemy units. While they focus on simple weaponry, such as clubs and rocks, they deal devastating damage with their sheer strength. Most Trolls know little about actually utilizing magic, but the smartest among them have learned to cast spells, known to them as hexes. While other cultures such as the Elves would look down on these 'hexes', in the hands of a Troll they become quite powerful. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/598650a6dba3c8e7abee6ccf358d5d921e8a5d76.jpg{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/9180b97cd61f8fd14e40052119703e13228eda4d.jpg{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/3dae657b34068b58ce5e60bb2e41bdc8be0bdd85.jpg Through training, Trolls evolve into more sophisticated fighters. In contrast to other factions, Trolls do not directly produce combat units out of different military buildings. Instead, they start out with a “Fight Hut” that is able to produce two basic combat units: the “Smasher”, a smaller Troll equipped with only a big piece of wood, and an Ironbeak, a carrion bird the Trolls tame to assist them in hunting and battle. These basic combat units can then be trained into more advanced fighters. The “Throwing Camp” turns Smashers into Throwers, a pestering Troll equipped with a slingshot to attack from a distance. If you send your Smasher into the “Hitting Camp”, it will become a Skull Crusher and just like the name suggests, become incredibly effective in direct combat. The “Hex Camp” is the most advanced training camp, turning your Smasher into a Flesh Eater, granting it magical abilities. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/517fd29c335ce732da95b5d775cf5974016371d7.jpg{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/ec71223d335a6c5b1e18109a428d9ae8f9acd98b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37981148/4e42c0cca898f8a578f97284de5b05efb7d29404.jpg In the Throwing, Hitting and Hex camps trolls are transformed into advanced fighters.
