The time has come to explore the forbidden whispers promising immortal life, tackle the new challenge growing in the snow biome, and enslave the world for profit. Conquest Starting from settlement level 2, we can now launch an assault on any NPC settlement to claim it for our state, giving us access to its production and caravan management. As with other battles, we may join in and support our troops or let them handle it while we commit ourselves to different tasks. Will you find a way to deal with this immortal threat? https://i.imgur.com/0kBgtPm.png Polish Language Support I've been told I'm not allowed to claim I love my country if I don't support my mother's tongue in my creation, so I had to right that wrong. Soulash 2 now supports the Polish language for the game, and will soon support it in the in-game Modding Tools. The language support was integrated into modding. It allows community-made translations that enable only partial file updates of text, not other configurations, making it much easier to maintain as the game grows. Fixed - Fixed the tooltip of bottom w...Progress on Conquest, Liches and NecromancyMar 14, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings fellow gods, It's been over a month since the last update, and many of you appropriately started asking, "Necromancy when?", so I thought it might be a good time to update you on where things are and how much longer it will be until you can all live happily ever after with your (un)dead wives. Raise the Dead My work is currently focused on necromancy and the new civilization of the undead led by Necrotyrant, a unique, immortal lich necromancer who threatens the world with his army of the dead. Both necromancy and the undead civilization will not be available as a starting choice during player creation but will be uniquely accessible through play - by conquering the undead citadel, purifying the Monolith of Awakening, and becoming the new Necrotyrant controlling the undead army. The necromancy skill will be uniquely focused on harvesting the souls of living beings in settlements and corrupting them to then use for assembling undead workers and warriors. It will be a skill tailored towards acquiring power by causing death to living civilizations. https://i.imgur.com/B1F25G0.gif Conquest The goal of the Conquest update is to enable taking control of other settlements. As players, we'll be able to create a state faction that will open up our settlements to attacks and allow us to field offensive armies that will take control of NPC towns, giving us access to their production and population management. Those who prefer a more chill experience by building their towns uninterrupted will still be able to do so without proclaiming an independent state and participating in wars. NPC factions may also decide to enslave weaker races instead of occasionally raiding them for their wealth and acquiring power that way. This feature will open up a potential major endgame goal for our characters: controlling and ruling the world. World Map Revamp We're working on a world map revamp that will increase the resolution of tiles and change the palette to fit the game's GUI better. We still need to make some tweaks to ensure locations are easily visible, but we're already close, and this should also be done for v0.9. https://i.imgur.com/IYbR9C1.png Polish Language Since November, we've been working on allowing translations into the engine and game. My wife has been hard at work translating the entire game to Polish since the beginning of the year, and she's been constantly cursing the amount of content we already have in the game, but I'll do my best to negotiate some more for you guys. We're currently testing, tweaking, and ensuring everything makes sense. Once that's done, it should be a part of v0.9 as well. We'll have solid translation support in mods alongside it and explore options for officially supporting other languages in the full release 1.0 planned for next year. While it's still not the time for the Conquest major update (re-scheduled for March in the Roadmap), since today you'll be able to participate in region battles as a mercenary. https://i.imgur.com/h2ws37d.gif That's right, you can now save all those poor elves harassed from every direction by joining their defense. Or make a quick buck by joining whoever has the advantage. Additionally, some of you will be happy to see the request for building recipe categories has also been fulfilled. Here's the full changelog: Added - Added animations for traveling settler groups during world simulation. - Added filters to the world map to hide locations, caravans, NPC groups, and settlement names. Changed - Improved settlement food consumption to prioritize non-raw food, then food of the highest total nutrition, including the available unit count. - Added support for different entities per race in player settlement buildings, allowing different workers to access separate recipes and fix their dialogues. About major update v0.9 "War" As some of you on our Discord may know, I took some time off the internet to recharge, and I was able to refocus a bit more on the upcoming big features - war, necromancy, and liches. I've designed it and estimated it to take about 400 hours of work in total. Because all 3 are so intertwined and impactful for the game, I will have our Thursday updates on a less regular schedule until everything is done in December or January. We'll still have updates when I feel confident things can go in without too much disturbance, but dealing with wars as something that can potentially be procedurally world-end...Soulash 2 v0.8.11 "Chromium"Oct 10, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings fellow gods, The work on wars slowly continues while we bring in some new content in preparation for the new civilization that should come in a few weeks. Please don't start a new world before the Liches to not go insane. :) Things continue to go slower than I would hope, but we might pick up some steam - I might have some good news soon about possibly our team growing and freeing a little bit more of my time to focus on the big-picture features. Here's today's changelog: Added - Settlement names display with state-related coloring backgrounds on the world map when zoomed in enough. - 3 new resources in the snow biome. - 6 new weapon recipes. - 2 new Adventuring recipes. - 1 new arrow recipe. - 12 new imbuing recipes Changed - Water Elemental replaced with Storm Elemental. Fixed - Fixed duplication of top glyphs on trees and bushes, causing slowdowns in often visited towns. - Fixed Wasp Nest top z-levels not spawning. - Fixed cooking button click in Equipment screen. - Fixed fall damage when jumping down. The first step for the wars I hope to bring soon will be the state factions. This will be the 3rd faction tier above families and settlements that will group settlements and provide new ruler entities as potential endgame targets. The state factions will also be responsible for maintaining mobile armies in the future. Liches are pretty much also designed. They will have some special mechanics requiring extra time, but it will be worth it. Up to the end of the year, the updates may be a bit irregular because all the 3 major things ahead (war, necromancy, and liches) are quite connected and require at least some things from the war to come sooner. I will mention on Discord each week if we'll have a content update, just bug fixes, or if we'll skip the week altogether. But all things considered, I think the most exciting feature trio will be worth the wait. Changed - Improved building icons for Orcs and Trolls. - Disabled sending player character as a leader of a caravan. Fixed - Gnoll tavern set to max 2 in settlements. - Fixed acquiring Carrot Seeds from salvaging Carrots. - Fixed a way to select the same being for caravan and building. Today's hotfix has a little bit of new content, the changelog is so small I didn't want to make a bigger deal out of it. For the next 2 months or so, updates may be irregular before War, Liches, and Necromancy. I'll offer more info once things stabilize.
