These Include: Fixed unnatural character lean angles during some grinds and slides in goofy stance. Fixed incorrect grab tweak angles and speeds in goofy stance. Fixed incorrect turning animations in goofy stance. Fixed altered animation blends during flip tricks which resulted in robotic, less detailed foot movement during the scoop & flip of the trick. Fixed auto-reverts in ramps tagged with both auto-revert and auto-pump. Fixed occasional excessive speed boost from both auto-pump and manual pump in ramps. 'More Freedom With Grabs' Update now available in the Public BranchAug 30, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsThe ‘more freedom with grabs’ gameplay update is now available on in the public branch on Steam. An expansion of freedom and control in Skater XL’s core gameplay, the update has just been released which makes some changes and additions to the grab mechanic. Players now have the ability to: Grab the board at any time with LB / RB, including while riding, during manuals, grinds, power slides, mid-air, during flip tricks, during pop-outs and more. You can also hold grabs through transitions between these different game states. There are no constraints on when you can grab or when you need to release the grab. Grab the board at any subtle angle you choose based on the angle of the board. There is a unique hand position and pose that will be created for any given board angle. Each hand can grab anywhere around the board including between-the-legs grabs, Seatbelts and Crails. Grab and release the board with either or both hands independently to mix and combine different grabs. Cleaned up and more polished poses and animations from previous PC beta release Much like the original core gameplay, these new abilities are not programmed tricks or canned animations but a series of systems which create movements on the fly based on player input. This puts more creativity, style, and expression in the hands of the player. Additionally, the update includes the introduction of an in-game news feed that will help streamline the way players stay informed about Skater XL. This new feature will provide regular updates on the latest news, tips, content releases, and more, all conveniently accessible without ever having to leave the game. Now you can stay connected to Skater XL content and keep up with the ever-evolving world of skateboarding right from within the game. We have also made some improvements to coping grinds, making them smoother and more consistent, giving an overall more enjoyable transition skating experience. Fire Station Park map now available in the Mod Browser 📍Apr 28, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsFire Station Park is now available in Skater XL coinciding with the grand opening of the brand new park in Fort Worth, Texas. The park was made possible by a generous donation from Dickies Skateboarding, and the construction is now complete, making it available in both physical and digital formats. The park is designed to be accessible to skaters of all skill levels and has a real city plaza feel, offering unique terrain and lines to be discovered. With banks placed generously around the perimeter and ledges galore, the map's diverse terrain provides infinite opportunities for flowing lines and technical skating. Similar to the physical park, the Skater XL map includes a pump track with grindable corners and unique angles, enabling players to get creative and find new lines. Special thanks go to New Line Skateparks and Dickies for collaborating on this project, and we are stoked to see the footage that players create at this park! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/b77a81d12da10298f7ab35cfaa95b4443ff308b3.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/129365f0fd6aa0d615633152a37dec98fe7ae32d.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/cbb8f792776d8f5378078fd93ed5bd4c14ccef57.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/b7dd65b8da00217f95fb329192e742e48360a738.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/99ee167bb9891026fe3c347199bb961a01c32b24.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/29b5ff89e56b49d0d09bca00c263befcb4cd1ce4.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/36e5694ff56e5d1f681464ff33c02663afa720ba.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/5f6cb947c5c1687245dcd3db1973a7d4720dc170.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/e1fc61f7609dd50412399ecb0f4871f6d64d428c.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/0e48cb1619666c9f22be229df12e3d156bf224a8.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/35843a6886bae26631f9133bb6eecb0cded804c3.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/0b952de38d88aaafdea045e97d35a9d47f08c49e.pngGrab Mechanic Expansion Now Available In BetaMar 3, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsIn a step towards expanding freedom and control in Skater XL’s core gameplay, an update has just been released into public beta on Steam which makes some changes and additions to the grab mechanic. You now have the ability to: Grab the board at any time with LB / RB, including while riding, during manuals, grinds, power slides, mid-air, during flip tricks, during pop-outs and more. Much like the original core gameplay, these new abilities are not programmed tricks or canned animations but a series of systems which create movements on the fly based on player input. This puts more creativity, style, and expression in the hands of the player. * Please note that these are incomplete features in early development, containing bugs, rough edges and (some amusing) animation and body pose glitches. Due to the real-time nature of Skater XL’s gameplay and animation approach animation and pose cleanup can be complicated and often make sense to focus on towards the end of the process. Also, as things progress during public development elements may be added, changed or removed in further builds. We look forward to seeing what kinds of tricks and lines everyone comes up with! Coming soon for consoles. * IMPORTANT: Update features referred to in this post are located in the “Beta” branch of the game on Steam. This is a separate stream of development for us to publicly test early or experimental features in development. This feature allows players in Multiplayer rooms to easily watch other players skate and join their session anywhere on the map. To use this feature, press and hold Y/🔺when in Multiplayer and select ‘Spectate’. Once spectating a player, you can toggle between fixed, orbit, tripod and free cam by pressing Y/Triangle. L and R on the D-Pad will allow you to switch the player you are spectating to other players in the room. Another small addition is you can now switch camera focus between players in replay mode by pressing LB / RB. This allows you to easily check out the replays of friends and strangers as well as your own. As we all know, part of any skate session involves hanging back and watching your friends and strangers try their tricks, getting sparked, and trying your own. We think the addition of the Specate Mode and replay player switching help to bring this element into Skater XL, and helps to further build an authentic skateboarding experience. Thanks again for all the support and we hope you enjoy this new feature.Update notes for Feb 4thFeb 4, 2022 - Community Announcements- New Spectate Mode now available by pushing and holding A/Triangle - Can switch players in Replay mode in Multiplayer by pressing L/R on the Pad - Various minor bug fixes and improvementsNew Map Alert 📢 Oshawa Arena by Brookzee99 is Available Now!Feb 1, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsOshawa Arena by Brookzee99 is now is available in the Mod Browser on all platforms 🔥 This brand new community creation is a modern skate contest arena, with all the features you’d expect to find your favorite pros shredding in the world’s biggest competitions. Inspired by real world skate competitions, this map is completely fictitious and was inspired by real world spots from the skateparks of Oshawa, Canada. I have tried to capture the essence of competition skating with a course that would be at home in any real world event and lends itself to the games mechanics for both base game and modded players. I have put everything into making this map look and skate to the best of my abilities, using what I have learned from this community over the past year and taking advantage of the lighting guide that was compiled by the guys over at Easy Day. Whilst I have been proud of every map I have made, this is the one I am especially proud of. I can't believe the support I have received from the community whilst making this map, so I thank everyone of you and the guys at Easy Day for always giving their invaluable advice. Here's hoping this is the beginning of a whole new chapter of competitive skating in Skater XL... You MUST opt in to play this version of the game by following the steps at the bottom of this post. What is up guys?! We’ve just released a very early stage version of a new game feature called the “DIY Map Editor” into public alpha on Steam. The DIY Map Editor allows you to place, move and delete skateable objects in maps for both single player and multiplayer game modes. To access it simply opt into the new ‘alpha’ branch in Steam (Properties -> Betas) and then, once in the game, push and hold the Y/🔺 button or access it from the main menu Up until now we’ve been building and testing this feature with players in private but as this is a social feature, it makes sense to go into public testing in a much earlier 'alpha' state than with previous features. This will help guide design decisions, see what works and what doesn’t as we continue development of the DIY Map Editor for PC and eventually for consoles. We look forward to seeing early players jumping in and speaking with more of you as the feature develops. See you in an MP session soon with the DIY Map Editor!! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/101a97542d7c1d6fa35373fbe4e75a1b65747851.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/249dc87961f3bbdc3976acf7a92bc5f598dc165a.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/aabbe9bce0681b8e1dff1379719ee8df7022a20a.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/26d61f9d30529f91d5c84bfe16a493d4c05081af.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/aedf4e90e3c19e0ae9342b26a25011213f183f08.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/cf6fb93d117458781857778c2e3786a8cdfe731a.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/cde4dc266540ae43ac8488a41f8473cfe7841582.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/c1929ce9e28e5995d11c6c1fe7a8aa91043634c1.png Mod Disclaimer: While we make efforts to preserve existing mods with each update, we are not able to control exactly how updates to the official game code will interact with every one of them. If you are experiencing issues with the new update, please first try removing your mods and adding them back in one by one to see if the issue can be isolated. To open the Alpha, follow these steps: Right click ‘Skater XL’ and open Properties Select the ‘Alpha' branch. Steam should start downloading this version of the game. Once it has finished, you will be able to try the update. The game name in your library should now show “Skater XL ”. If you’d like to switch back to the regular commercial release branch of the game in future simply come back to this screen and select “NONE - opt out of all betas” in the drop down. New Map Alert! Multiplayer Free Skate is out of beta and available for all!Aug 6, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsWe are very happy to announce that Skater XL Multiplayer Free Skate mode is out of Beta and now available for players on all platforms! With this update, friends from all corners of the world can link up online and share a skate session together. Skateboarding is more fun with friends, and there’s nothing quite like hanging out, talking shop, and vibing off each other. That essential experience inspired us to create Skater XL’s online Multiplayer Free Skate mode. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/6c534678fe83d6ecd8d68ac738cf27ffbaa4613b.png Multiplayer Free Skate mode is built to replicate the energy and hype of a real life skate session as closely as possible. No rules or barriers, you and the homies decide where to skate, what to skate, and how to skate it. Whether you want to match each other trick for trick, choreograph party lines, or just vibe off each other in a more freeform way, Multiplayer Free Skate provides the platform. The social component of skateboarding has always been part of our vision for Skater XL, so we’ve given Multiplayer Free Skate players the capability to capture and save video of impressive lines and momentous trick moments using the in-game replay editor. Videos are a big part of the culture and we felt it was important to give players a way to share and rewatch their favorite moments long after the session is complete. A check of the Instagram #SkaterXL will give you an idea of the amazing content that is already coming out of the creative community. Multiplayer Free Skate is our first step in opening up social modes in the game and features: Skate with up to 10 people online - Join a random room or start your own private one and invite your friends to join using a passcode Replays - Replay and save your group party lines, with the same replay editor functionality available in single player mode {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/ec9c87ff46425f893d025a6684dc88c875be46bb.png Smooth frame rates and a lag-free experience are so important to Skater XL’s physics-based gameplay and, given the extra processing and complexity of running online multiplayer, we wanted to make sure this update would feel as good as possible for those on low end systems. Alongside the development on the multiplayer features, work began back in January on optimizing many of the systems and assets in the rest of the game. A huge number of hours have gone into turning over every stone and reworking code, 3D assets, lighting, shaders, and more alongside the multiplayer systems themselves to squeeze out extra performance and FPS. The game now runs and feels significantly smoother on low-end gaming PCs even with many characters on screen during online play. Also included in this latest update is a small injection of new character gear with shoes from New Balance and Es Footwear, as well as an apparel capsule from Dickies. As we continue to release regular updates, you can expect to see even more new gear hit the customizer. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34055591/bf3f8079cdb2...
