Controller support!Sep 14, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAlong with a few minor tweaks and bug fixes, the latest version of Silicon Dreams comes with controller support! We know that, as a narrative-heavy game, SD might be better experienced from the couch rather than hunched over a desk. So now, if you have a couch-and-controller-based setup, you should be able to enjoy the game in comfort. We have tested this build as much as we can, but there's always a chance we missed something. If you find a bug, please drop us a line using the link provided in the in-game bug reporting system, from the pause menu. -JamieNominate Silicon Dreams for the Steam Awards 2021Nov 25, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThe annual Steam awards are here once again, and we'd be thrilled if Silicon Dreams could be part of it! We honestly think that we've put together a little narrative gem here - even though it took a year and a half of blood, sweat, tears, and a lot of words - and we would be so grateful if you'd consider casting your vote for Story-Rich games on our little offering. It's scrappy, small, and certainly not the biggest fish in the pond, but we're proud of this little thing we've made. So are you, if you're one of the people who wrote us a lovely Steam review! (Thank you for those, by the way! We try to read every one.) So if you'd like to help out a little studio whose niche game you love, please vote for us. Interrogators everywhere will thank you. Fatality & Fame is out now!!!Oct 12, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHey cyberpunks! We've talked a lot about how we think this game is ripe with stories to be harvested. In this free DLC, we're pleased to introduce you to two of them, written in collaboration with cyberpunk author Matthew Goodwin. Every good cyberpunk detective story needs a cyberpunk murder, right? Meet JH-422, the first known android murderer. It killed a government official in broad daylight, so this should be an open-and-shut case. Should be. Our second addition is RL-404 (aka "Raleigh", aka "Error-404"), holo-streamer and stunt performer. Her owner has been up to some shady dealings, and is being interrogated in the next cell over. Will you work with the other interrogator to put him away, or try to preserve RL-404's life of fame? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/f1ff16efb160c808780907b78f6240c7ec689f04.png Also coming in this update is the narrative flowchart. This will display after each interrogation, showing any crucial information you discovered and hinting at any secrets you missed. Use it to guide replays or just to reflect on crucial points as you prepare for the next scene. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/8b0cc6d11f0e9b97b10495553bc563a8662fc14f.gif As always, thank you so much for your support! We've seen a lot of really great feedback, comments, and reviews from our players and it warms our cybernetic hearts Silicon Dreams: Fatality & Fame update - Developer Gameplay [Pre-recorded]Oct 12, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsRL-404 (aka "Raleigh", aka "Error-404"), holo-streamer and stunt performer. The Fatality & Fame update is coming to Silicon Dreams on October 12th and will be released as a free update to the base game! New characters! We’ve created two entirely new characters that will be added to the interrogation roster, written in collaboration with cyberpunk author, Matthew Goodwin. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/19edecb2164ff6e0980d6f79cec0f38ce91384dc.gif {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/9d586dabe496a34c260b9d901288816ed28236a7.gif Narrative map After each interrogation you’ll be shown this “narrative flowchart”. The narrative map will show you which crucial pieces of information you discovered during the interrogation, and which secrets remain to be seen. You can also check it from the main menu, and you’ll be able to see which information you discovered this time, and all the information you have ever seen while playing, helping you keep track of what content you haven’t found yet. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/8b0cc6d11f0e9b97b10495553bc563a8662fc14f.gif We’re really excited to get these characters into your hands and think they do a great job of presenting some uniquely challenging interrogations and further exploring the world of Silicon Dreams.New feature: rewind!Jun 30, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsSilicon Dreams just received a major, much-asked-for update: the ability to rewind the story and replay previously seen scenes! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/1d5237d94b29348aa13c1fa34438626c28f3c792.jpg Here's the lowdown: Rewind isn't available until you've finished at least one playthrough. (Dying counts!) A lot of players said their first playthrough was really tense, and we worried that introducing rewind might take that away from them. Once it's unlocked, though, you can choose a save slot and rewind that game to any scene you played through. Then you can continue playing from that point forward. It should be handy if, for example, you finished the game but want to figure out what other endings were possible, without having to replay the first 70% of the game! It's also useful if you want to start a new game without going through the first few scenes, which might not be so interesting for you. A word of warning, though: rewind will only work for scenes that you played after 9.6.2021! Until that point we didn't have a system in place to save the scene bookmarks that the rewind feature relies on. But any scenes you played after 9.6.2021 can still be rewound to, even if there are earlier scenes in that run that the rewind feature can't get to. Happy winding!Update note: Rewind feature!Jun 30, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThe game now has a "rewind" feature, allowing you to pick a save slot and go back to the beginning of any scene that was played during that game. So if, for example, you wish you'd dealt with a character differently 2 scenes ago, you can wind back to the start of that scene and begin playing from there. Some caveats: Rewind only unlocks once you've finished a complete playthrough! (Or died.) Players have praised the game for how tense and high-stakes it feels playing through for the first time, and we didn't want to lose that. It only works if you started playing the scene no earlier than June 9th of this year. Until that point, we didn't have a system in place to save bookmarks of these scenes you'll be rewinding to. Don't worry, though: if you're in the middle of a game and want to use rewind, it will work for any new scenes you encounter from this point forward. German localisation: fixes and proofreadingMay 27, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsThis update fixes a lot of stylistic errors in the German text, and a few places where the German text couldn't be found by the system. If you see a line that looks like "-loc- error: text could not be found", please let us know here! As far as we know, all those problems are now gone. This also fixed a bug where learning Shakira's big secret did not unlock the appropriate report answer to the report question "Did you learn anything else of note about the subject?"Text speed updates and some narrative/ending fixesMay 19, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsA few fixes here, but they're very important: some of these make sure the correct endings/epilogues play, which could be very narratively important at a critical moment! Fixed bug where sometimes clicking an already spoken dialog line would lock the game in an uncontinuable state Text speed has been updated, and setting the slider to max will make text pop in instantly. Fixes to epilogue texts not matching what happened during regular play Fixed problem where a critical email was sometimes missed during an ending sequence Slight performance improvement for main interrogation scene (basically I deleted some stuff that wasn't visible) Fixed bug where game got confused over whether player had killed anyone or not Resolution options at last!May 4, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsNote: these fixes have only been applied to Windows and Mac machines! Unfortunately when I tested this new version on Linux I experienced a game-breaking rendering glitch. I'm going to try and pin down what caused it, but in the meantime I don't want Win and Mac users to have to wait on these improvements. - added resolution options, AA, Vsync, you can even manually set the target frame rate - R-1982 being sent to maintenance will now yield the correct epilogue text - Savegames are no longer deleted upon finishing the game; the save will stick around and you can revisit it later to review the epilogue texts for all characters. - Fixed RO-334's line saying you had 15 minutes; this didn't match the true timer. Timings have been tweaked and the text corrected. - Fixed issue where variables were not being set in certain aftermath scenes, causing incorrect epilogue texts. - You can now delete saved games - Behind the scenes fix: reorganised how game logs are keptSilicon Dreams is a pretty rad cyberpunk interrogator sim out nowApr 27, 2021 - GamingOnLinuxClockwork Bird have managed to created a thoroughly unique cyberpunk experience with Silicon Dreams, which is out now with Linux support. This doesn't fix all of them, but it fixes some of the more urgent issues: v. 23.04.2021 patch notes: - Added "report bug" button to pause menu (Please use this to submit future bugs, obviously!) - fixed problem where some achievements were impossible to get (ie. any achievement to do with sending an android to maintenance, and most of SM-032's ending conditions). These should now all be achievable! - fixed rare bug where ALEx could not be repaired or decommissioned - Fixed bug that prevented news headlines from displaying correctly when playing in German on Linux - Alt-tabbing out of the game now no longer causes the music to skip to next trackCybernoir thriller “Silicon Dreams” is out now!Apr 20, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsGreetings, cyberpunks. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/3521710cb062843732b13118c6065a28f142217e.gif Our new cyberpunk interrogation sim “Silicon Dreams” is launching as we speak! They’re eager to please and totally obedient - or at least, that was the plan. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/88a688de373f66275f2002a7fcc88212eefa2ccd.gif Question them. Extract their secrets. You play D-0527, an interrogator-model android. It's your job to analyse and judge other androids: the disobedient, malfunctioning kind. You’ll learn their secrets, gain their trust, and make the call: should they be released, or destroyed? Does an android that’s run from its owner need to be “fixed”? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/37256284/8c9c67d60dd16b917fc59b50321b727ce8d8db08.png Decide their fate, but don't get caught! Silicon Dreams: Developer Chat & AMAJun 18, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsJoin Jamie and Danny as they discuss this narrative-heavy interrogation game set in a Cyberpunk future. Silicon Dreams is a game of interrogation and conversation, trust and betrayal. You will play as an android designed for the purpose of performing diagnostics on other androids. By asking the right questions and observing your subject’s emotional responses, you will uncover the nuance in their programming, uncover the truth, and submit your recommended course of action to your superiors. Routine maintenance is often the solution, but what about wiping an android’s memory module, or sending them to be decommissioned? What would you do with an android who has run from its owner and refuses to return? Making these decisions is the reason you exist. You wouldn’t want to disappoint your creator, would you?
