To save you the trouble of checking your calendar, that's Tuesday next week, so not too long to go until we can check out this handsome point-and-click, which mixes 2D, illustrated art with 3D models in a fascinating way. Actually, we don't have to wait at all, given that a demo has just popped up on Steam. While you wait for that to download, have a gander at the 'release' trailer: What's Silence all about? Let's let the Steam Store page fill us in: "War rages on. During an air raid, 16 year old Noah and his little sister Renie seek shelter in a bunker. There, not only are they protected from the deadly bombardment, but are also at the crossroads of a world between life and death: Silence. When Noah s sister gets lost in Silence, he is forced to venture into this idyllic yet threatening world to find her. "Silence, however, bears its own scars of war and suffering. Dark creatures haunt towns and cities and ravage this once serene place between worlds. Only a small band of rebels stands against the looming menace. Not A Peep: Silence s Release Date WhisperedSep 6, 2016 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunSomewhere along the way I lost track of Silence: The Whispered World 2, probably because its makers somehow decided that simply Silence would be a better name. Nnnope, that’s a name which sounds like a Slender Man fangame so it’ll barely register as I keep scrolling down my inbox. But! Silence is indeed the sequel to the adventure game our John once called “Daedalic’s best game to date”, and now it has a release date. November 15th is the big day, Daedalic announced over the weekend. Until then, cor check out the lovely painterly art style in this trailer: … Silence, formerly The Whispered World 2, is coming in NovemberSep 5, 2016 - PC GamerIt's been well over a year since we last heard anything about Silence, the follow-up to Daedalic's 2010 fantasy point-and-click adventure The Whispered World. But the publisher recently revealed that the game, with a slightly modified title, will be out on November 15, and we've got a handful of new screens to look at too. Silence is an adventure about a young girl named Renie who, while hiding in a bomb shelter in the midst of a devastating war, becomes lost in a magical realm between the worlds of life and death. Her older brother Noah sets out to save her, but the two of them soon become embroiled in a much greater struggle for the future of Silence itself. Daedalic estimates that Silence will offer around 12 hours of gameplay, with three playable characters, new supporting characters and a reunion with old friends. The tone seems quite a bit darker than that of the original Whispered World, and despite the promise of reconnecting with old friends, Daedalic now appears to be trying to sever the connection between the two. The launch date announcement referred to the game only as Silence, and a Daedalic rep confirmed that The Whispered World 2 has been dropped from the title. Sequel or not, I think Silence looks very promising. Daedalic has a well-earned reputation for making quality adventure games, and I'm very much looking forward to this one.
