Developing a well-balanced game can be difficult - especially if it’s an ambitious title with THOUSANDS of handcrafted levels procedurally stitched together. Our team is working hard on creating new content (DLC Pack 2 coming soon)... …but in the meantime, we’re working on some quality-of-life improvements for the base game and Fate & Fortune DLC! You are more than welcome to check it out in the Early Preview branch on Steam. We’re beyond excited to make Shovel Knight Dig even better! Please keep in mind that we’re still in the process of rolling out fixes! With that said, there is a possibility that you’ll run into bugs, crashes, and oddities that you wouldn’t normally encounter in a retail release. So, to avoid any potential mishaps, we recommend you backup your save files just in case! Note: This is currently limited to the Steam version of the game. After defeating Black Knight, a Blueprint is found in the overworld, near the location where SK wakes up. Greyson can now craft the Black Knight Armour. The armor allows the player to charge their attack and fire a fireball. This ability can stack with other charge items. Knightmares: Knightmare 3: Updated description to be clearer. Knightmare 10: Adjusted the offscreen speed of the Omega Saw so it approaches the player at a marginally slower speed than normal. Ambush rooms will appear slightly less frequently. Knightmare 6: Ambush rooms will appear slightly less frequently. Knightmare Ghost Follow Item: Knightmare Key will only spawn their spirit if the player is carrying it and if the player got hit. The Ghost will not spawn if the enemy drops the key, and it breaks on spikes. The ghost will despawn after it has been in close proximity to the player for several seconds (6 seconds, time adding up). When it has reached that time, it will still wait until the player has moved away from close proximity to despawn. Omega Driver: Increased homing efficiency of Omega Driver towards the Omega Saw. Increased time allowed for Omega Driver to connect with Omega Saw before Omega Driver returns to the player. Increased tolerance of the Omega Driver so it will snap to Omega Saw easier for a successful hit. Removed several conditions preventing Omega Driver from starting to home towards the Omega Saw. This hotfix update addresses more critical bugs like soft locks, a few general bug fixes, and more level-design changes to improve fairness and reduce erroneous room layouts. Version 1.1.3 (Hotfix) General Fixes Updated and fixed Localization bugs. Aqua Mole Knight could get stuck in fin form on rare occasions. Tombola Gem icon persisted into the next dialog box. Rooms where Gastronomole’s shop did not fit properly in the room. Secret Fountain with Floatsome ambush rooms had issues when electrocuting while in water. Corrected platforms in Smeltworks where platforms were too small for oven art. Instances where rooms would be generated with corridors that were too small or had indestructible blocks, preventing the player from proceeding. Error with game saves when picking up a buff or Relic for the first time. Improved the timing when Chester’s shop arrives to coincide better with NPC dialog. Problems with Grub Pit and Secret Fountain Blueprints missing on some occasions. Sorting issues with Aqua Mole Knight and various parts of his stage. Spore Knight’s hat could disappear without being launched. It was possible to open the pause menu while skipping the opening cutscene. When rolling in the Ballistic Armor, speaking with an NPC, or interacting with a sign, it was possible to jump into a well, causing the text box prompt to stay on screen. Giant Crab would not turn on triggers from spikes. Scrap Knight would become frozen on the floor while her bag was in the air. Softlock and Crash Fixes In Magic Landfill, it’s no longer possible to softlock the game when entering a portal and throwing the Boomerang Shovel. In specific situations when using the Warp Dirt, and using the War Horn, the player would slide across the screen and cause a softlock. A rare softlock in a Smeltworks sideroom. A crash when using the War Horn was used on various enemies during the dream sequences. Improvements Level Design improvements in Secret Fountain involving side room design, access to locked doors, and gears in instances where it made it near impossible to reach. Level design improvements to Smeltworks for siderooms that improve the design and reduce unfairness. Mushroom Mines room changes that remove unfairly hidden spikes in some rooms. Removed continuous threats in a variety of stages to reduce difficulty. Optimizations to text rendering and text effects. How Crossbows reactivate when entering a horizontal room in Drill Knight’s Castle. Made it so the Cancel button could be used to exit Master Argus’ menu in the camp. A new update that includes a host of fixes for some of the most commonly reported and critical issues. Also includes a few balance tweaks that help improve the overall balance. Please see the details below for more information: General Fixes Items With the Burrow Horns equipped and invincible after taking damage, it was possible to overlap with Drill Knight’s sprite and deal significant damage. Inverse Repeller - will now pull gems towards you when they are embedded in Conveyor Dirt. Drill Block - Boneclang doesn't take damage and is pushed into the wall. Music would not resume after using the Fenix Feather. Fenix Feather would cause the screen to darken permanently until the stage was reloaded. With the Ballistic Armor equipped, Shovel Knight could zoom to the end of a Mushdoom quickly in specific scenarios. Pandemonium Plate now only chooses from unlocked armors. You can now break out of being frozen when using Morphlance without needing to get hit again. Instances where Relics could be stuck in ball form if landing on a moving platform in a specific way. Various ambush rooms when using Shadow Cast relic. A duplicate Blueprint in Hive appeared immediately after collecting one. Feats The feat 'Dirt Poor' wasn’t triggering correctly under certain conditions The feat 'True Shovelry' was obtainable from Whisker. The feat 'Order Of Hoarders' can no longer unlock in the Main Menu. The feat 'Weeding' would re-lock after collecting the Throwing Trowel The feat 'Penny Pincher' was incorrectly unlocked under certain conditions. The feat 'Hurry Up' used profile time and not game-session time. Other General fixes with Ratsploders and bombs when interacting with collision. Master Argus’s shop sometimes had blank options upon the very first load of the menu. Instances where duplicate or similar stage signs would appear as level options. On rare occasions, players could experience infinitely loading wells with no stage generated. Instances where the background tiles would shift or glitch. Shovel Knight can no longer die by bombs falling onto him during a dream sequence. Removing bombs in areas that were causing frustration. The bomb door did not appear during Enchantress’s unlock path. Bubble-spawning has been removed from Capsule rooms to avoid Shovel Knight dying in a safe area. Some rooms in Secret Fountain were not providing rewards when they should have. Issue in a Secret Fountain side room where a crab would not attack that prevented the player from completing the room puzzle. Autoscaling health didn’t work when using the Rebuy Loadout option.
