This game launch has been amazing and I want to thank you so much for your support. Patch Version 0.10.16.5Jun 4, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello! I've been working hard this past week to fix as many bugs as possible. I'll be putting out another bug fix patch soon but here is what is in today's patch. Change log: Gameplay: Farming exp balance changes. The game will now default to the language of your Steam Client if the game has support for that language. The barrel to the right of the fireplace in the farmhouse has been removed. This was causing some items to get stuck after they had finished crafting. Fixed the seed prices in the general store from being calculated incorrectly after taking the seed price reduction perk. Updated the sprites for the outfit top when walking to no longer have missing pixels. I removed the option to buy the Light Chair and Table in the Midsummer Fair. This was a mistake on my part. You are supposed to buy these from Ingrid, the travelling merchant. If you have bought the recipe but don't see it in your crafting table, you can safely destroy the recipe item. The player should no longer get stuck after leaving chairs in the tavern. Opening and placing a small chest should be smoother now. You can no longer get infinite rewards from Garin after the Harvest Stew cutscene. Fixed festival decorations being visible in the evening if you missed the festival. Fixed the pickaxe animation playing on loop after completing a bounty. Fixed the Soil Samples in the quest "The Start of a Discovery" from not being accessible when using a controller. Some players were unable to play any of the festival mini games, this should now be fixed. UI and Controller Support: The language menu control hint display will now behave as expected. Fixed the Return Crystal disappearing when sorting the inventory. I plan to add in the next patch a way for you to get back the Return Crystal if you have lost it. Prevented Lady Valeska's tool upgrade menu from showing after you have already upgraded every tool. Fixed a display issue when tabbing in the letter menu and Yri's shop with the controller. You can no longer open a small chest that has been broken. This is to prevent item loss when storing items in a chest that has been broken. Minor text changes. Thank you to everyone who has reported bugs and feedback. Only 1 Week Left for the Launch Discount!Jun 4, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello! You can change the length of day or slow down the fishing mini game among many other things. You can check to see if an npc has a quest for you by looking at your map and hovering over a point of interest. Make sure to go into the village on day 3 and talk to Tonna to learn about the dungeon. I have one more small favor to ask. After you buy the game, please leave an honest review on the Steam page. Getting early reviews can really boost a game’s visibility in the Steam algorithm. 😊 And that’s it! The next newsletter you see, you will be able to buy Seeds of Calamity! I had a lot of fun designing the combat for this game. I’ve been so glad that the reception for the combat has been positive! It was a lot of work but I’m really happy with the results. Turn based combat is like a puzzle. I wanted each battle to be a new challenge for you to “solve”. I tried to make each enemy feel unique or at least present a new challenge. My favorite animations by far are the baby farm animals. They are just so cute and making all the unique idle animations for them was fun. The fox spirits Rion and Tion are my favorite npcs to write. They play off of each other so well and I’ve enjoyed their funny dialog. My favorite coding challenges were the festival mini games. It’s fun to code a game within a game. Making a small enclosed game loop was very satisfying and a nice change of pace from some of the larger features. Tomorrow I will be back to give some insider tips and tricks to make your first few days in-game as smooth as possible. It’s been almost exactly 5 years since this game was just an idea in my head. I’m a web developer for my day job and often had the passing thought that it would be cool to make a video game. When I decided to take the plunge and get serious about designing one of my own, I wanted to make a game similar to my favorite game: Stardew Valley. But I also wanted to draw inspiration from other games that I love such as Hades, Zelda, and Pokémon. This entire adventure has been both the most creatively rewarding project I’ve ever taken on while also being the most challenging. Coding was familiar to me from the start, but I had never created a single piece of pixel art before starting this game! It took a lot of practice and iteration to get to the art you see in-game today. :) This has been a labor of love and I truly mean it when I say “I hope you enjoy playing the game as much as I’ve enjoyed making it”. Only 5 days left!May 23, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsLast time, I talked about what features Seeds of Calamity will be releasing with but now I want to talk about the future development of the game. I absolutely love working on this game and will continue development for quite some time. Here is what I have planned for the future: Ranch Update: Two more animals to raise. Unlock the Spinning Wheel to process animal products. Combat Update: Unlock the Challenge Dungeon with Erik. Final tier of combat elixirs. Village Update: Yri and Tonna’s final story quest. Unlock the Challenge altar in the village Shrine. More seasonal quests. Farm Update: More crops. Bombs to help remove items on your farm. Extra farm decorations. Final Update: New starting maps. Steam achievements. I will also create one new companion type for each update. In 2 days, I’ll be back to talk about my journey in making this game. For those of you who don’t know, there is a three-level dungeon north of the village that you can explore. The dungeon has resources, puzzles, and dangerous creatures to fight. The battles are a turn based where you defeat your enemies by using elemental spells. You will be able to buy spells in town from the former professor, Lady Valeska (for a price, of course). She sells spells from 3 different elements: Water, Air, and Fire. In the beginning of the game, you will only have access to Water spells but once you level up your combat skill, you will have access to the other elements. So as not to spoil too much, I will only talk about the Water and Air elements today. Water spells can give your enemies a debuff that lowers their attack damage. This is especially useful when you need to wait a turn or two for your most powerful spells to be available. Air spells are a bit different. They can give enemies a debuff that makes them stunned and unable to attack for a turn but can also give you a buff that makes you much harder to hit. Air spells usually have shorter cooldowns and are better at single target attacks than multiple targets. While sticking to just one element is viable, the more powerful spells use multiple elements. For example, a powerful Air spell will only have a chance to hit a target normally, but if that enemy has the Water debuff, that attack will always hit. I highly encourage you to experiment and discover which elemental spell combinations are the most powerful. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41312751/533d8dad7140c41b33b2aef3a6afa00d460b2870.png Talk to you soon, Jenny If you want to dive deeper into the development of this game and be the first to know about any exciting announcements, sign up for my mailing list here: Sign up here!
