Roman Triumph Survival City Builder

🏛️ Update 0.2.0 - Imperial Ledger, Olive Oil & Wine!May 22, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, I’m super excited to share Update 0.2.0, which brings a mix of features, new content, and long-requested fixes. The highlights this time are the Imperial Ledger, a powerful new panel that gives you deep insight into your city, and the addition of Olive Oil and Wine production chains. But that’s not all! I’ve also added the new Library building (boosts culture), a way to delete those massive rocks and iron nodes, reworked how immigration limits work, fixed a bunch of bugs, and made several quality-of-life improvements based directly on your feedback. I hope this update makes managing your empire smoother and more satisfying. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/6b08f95451d2e6576ecd3fb74fdb7ff30de3da8b.png 📖 The Imperial Ledger This is something I’ve wanted in the game for a long time, and I know many of you have too. The Imperial Ledger is your new one-stop shop for understanding what’s happening in your city: 📊 Charts & Graphs: Population, happiness, gold, food production/consumption — spot trends and track progress. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/66033fe5905a383359fb5bffa4452866bd2b83d0.png ⚙️ Resource Overview: See everything producing or consuming a resource, plus totals and percentages. Very useful when trying to identify what exactly is consuming most of a specific resource. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/a6666ceb58a3707043862c1384e66352784ed1cb.png 🧑 Citizen Directory: See every citizen’s name, home, job, and happiness. Helpful in identifying unhappy ones (and then finding their homes and improving their neighborhood accordingly). 🏗️ Building Lists: Instantly know how many hospitals, guards, temples, etc. you have — no more manual counting. This is just the beginning. I’ll keep expanding this panel as the game grows. 🍇 New Production Chain – Olive Oil & Wine {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/14cf5c96db7897cb3802d705d700d38e0ee1b1ba.png I’ve added 4 brand new resource types and four buildings to go with them: Olive Farm → Olive Oil Mill Vineyard → Winery Olive Oil and Wine are used for certain upgrades (e.g. Tavern) and are tradable, hence open up new opportunities in the mid-to-late game economy. For now their use is limited, but will become more important as future systems get added... I have some fun ideas for that. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/3c9f433e7fef84e2298941357f6988a954692950.png ✅ Fixes & QoL Changes & Other {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/aa12f54ee73efab38b14fcb7470d63452f930bb5.png 🏛️ Added a Library building which massively helps in increasing your population's Culture metric! 🪨 You can now delete large rocks and iron nodes with a new tool. Fixed a major bug causing double resource consumption on the last month of the year. ⛏️ Fixed issue where quarry would say "object in the way" instead of correctly pointing out why it's not placeable there. 🧾 Trade cities no longer show negative quantities. 🐉 Hydras pathing now takes priority on all other pathing (before, the hydra could be waiting for a while after spawning before moving when many pa...Experimental Branch & Update 0.2.0May 18, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thanks for helping test, your feedback makes a big difference! PhilippeLocalization Adjustments: ChineseApr 29, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! You've already left us over 300 reviews on Steam, and we just want to say a huge thank you. We’ve been reading all of your feedback carefully, and we really appreciate the time you’ve taken to share your thoughts with us. One thing that stood out right away was that the Chinese localization wasn’t where it needed to be. Some lines weren’t making much sense, and that’s on us. So we’ve gone back and reworked a big chunk of the Chinese translation to make sure the game feels right for our players in that language. This is just the start. We'll keep improving things as we go, and we’re already working on more fixes, tweaks, and of course, the new content from the Roadmap. Thanks again for playing and helping us make Roman Triumph better every day! We’re now entering the second week since the Early Access launch, and I’m honestly blown away by everything that’s happened so far. The game has just passed 200 reviews on Steam, with 94% positive! That’s incredible for an indie game like this. I’m super grateful for all your support. Every review, every bit of feedback, every “hey this part made me smile”, it all helps more than you know. It makes Roman Triumph more visible to all the other people who might love it, too. So if you haven’t left a review yet, please consider it! You can always edit it later if anything changes. In other exciting news, our Discord server just passed 1,200 members! That means we’re now part of Discord Discovery, which helps even more players find their way into this growing community. Honestly, the community that’s forming around Roman Triumph is one of the best parts of this whole journey. Friendly, cozy, curious and always trying to push the boundaries of Roman Triumph... it’s a joy to hang out there. I’m in the server every day, chatting, answering questions, reading your feedback, and absolutely loving your screenshots. Come say hi! Also, fun stat: the game keeps breaking its own record for concurrent players. The new all-time peak is 575 players online just two days ago! This stuff really matters for a solo dev like me, so thank you again for being here and playing. It means the world to me. And yep, I’ve read a lot of your feedback already. Thank you for being so detailed and constructive! I’m currently working on the next update, which I’m aiming to release in May. That said... I also have exams coming up at the end of April, so time will be a bit tighter than usual. Wish me luck? Talk soon, and once again, thank you. Patch 0.1.2 is live, bringing more bug fixes and small but needed improvements (QoL, settings, etc.). Thanks again for all your amazing support and feedback in the Discord, I truly appreciate it and I'm always listening. QoL & Changes Moving food storage will now transfer the food in it to a another food storage if there is space (instead of you losing that food). Pressing Escape while an overlay panel is open (construction, rubble, upgrade) now closes the panel instead of opening the pause menu. Added ability to cancel Research mid-progress. Rebuilding rubble now puts it at top construction priority. Added option to show/hide resource indicators. Buildings in normal and easy mode now only suffer from lack of upkeep starting the second month without upkeep. Fixed emissive material of Cabbage farm and Academia Bug Fixes Resolved a bug which allowed enemies to walk through walls sometimes. Fixed bug causing players to not be able to trade. Fixed an issue where players could place buildings on gate doors. Fix a bug that cause buildings to get built on top of each other when using the mass upgrade tool (example upgrading Domus into Luxury Domus) Fixed a bug that was preventing saves from loading. Fixed edge panning not working while armies were selected. Fixed bug where pressing numkeys while editing UI settings (e.g. worker limits) would still trigger army group hotkeys. Settings Added option to disable shadows. Added option to disable chromatic aberration. Just a quick heads-up, I'm currently a part-time university student, and with several exams coming up at the end of April, updates may slow down a bit around that time. I’ll also be focusing on the next major update during and after that period. Thanks for your patience! Please leave a review if you haven't already :) PhilippePatch 0.1.1Apr 8, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, I’ve published a patch (v0.1.1) to address common requests and bugs. UI, Resolution & Settings: Added option to disable/enable screen edge panning. New resolution option: 1600x900. Fixed formatting issue affecting 5120x1440 resolution (UI panels, tutorial, etc.). Added an FPS limit option (limit your fps). Added option to hide upkeep numbers for a cleaner UI. Gameplay & Bugs: Fixed (for real this time) villa not getting supplied with water by reservoir bugs. Fixed issue where gatherers got stuck trying to cut/mine a tree/rock Hydras no longer spawn in unreachable zones (preventing them to get stuck and unkillable). Hydras will now despawn if stuck for too long. Barbarians now prioritize gates a bit more and gates have received a +50% health buff. Resolved an issue where archers stationed on walls prevented building ballistae or other structures on that section after being disbanded. Fixed wheat farm ground texture flickering when multiple farms adjacent when zoomed in Fixed an issue where if you order multiple groups to man the walls in the same area, the units could stack with each other. Fixed Bathhouse workers appearing as Arena workers. Thank you for all your amazing feedback and support! Please let me know if you still encounter those issues. Please leave a Steam review if you haven't already :) PhilippeNew city builder Roman Triumph brings a mythological spin to Cities SkylinesApr 5, 2025 - PCGamesNThe Roman Empire is a time period that's always ripe for videogames, and we've seen many tackle the iconic historical setting. Strategy games such as Civilization, Age of Empires, and Total War have all taken their swing, and newcomer Roman Triumph feels like it's learned from all of them, with a little SimCity and Cities Skylines in the mix for good measure. Out now on Steam after five years in development at the Montreal-based Coreffect Interactive, you can grab the new city builder at a big early discount and join its early access journey. Read the rest of the story... Hotfix 0.1.0aApr 4, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, I’ve pushed a small hotfix (v0.1.0a) to address a few bugs and issues reported by players. More updates are coming soon. Fixes: Added support for 3840x1600 resolution. Fixed issue related to un-assigning army groups to hotkeys (Shift+Key to un-assign) Achievement for founding a new settlement now correctly unlocks even if the tutorial is skipped. Fixed bugs related to trading (not being allowed to place a trade route when supposed to be) Fixed issue where aqueducts would not properly supply villas. Fixed bug preventing aqueducts from being rebuilt in the same position after destruction. Resolved issue where aqueduct rubble icon would appear and stay there, but no rubble was shown, allowing placement over it. Thank you for all the feedback and bug reports. Please leave a Steam review if you haven't already! Helps a ton. Especially in the first week! Philippe🏛️Roman Triumph: Steam Early Access Launch!🌿Apr 3, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsIt’s finally happening: Roman Triumph is out in Early Access! Five years of solo dev, a mountain of coffee, endless playtests, and a ridiculous number of spreadsheets… and now we’re here. Huge thanks to everyone who played the demo, sent feedback, or just cheered us on — you helped shape this game more than you know! To celebrate the launch, the game is available for $24.99 with a 25% discount. There have been plenty of updates from the Demo to the main game, so if you’ve been thinking about it, now’s a great time to dive in. :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1864880/Roman_Triumph_Survival_City_Builder/ Here’s what’s already in the game: a full city-building loop, wave-based defense, building upgrades, a trading system, aqueducts, and interactions with multiple gods — you can choose to win their favor or risk facing their wrath. Mythological creatures like the hydra and dragons are also part of the challenge, but if you prefer a more grounded experience, you can turn them off and face only barbarians and berserkers. The game currently supports English, French, Italian, German, Spanish (Spain), Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Russian. Early Access is just the beginning and there’s still a lot to build, improve, and expand in future updates. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/0d899cd39cbb74f235c211d9a54443870aa1e700.jpg If you like what we’re doing, the best way to support us right now is by leaving a Steam review🌟. Alongside that, here are some fixes and quality-of-life changes based on your feedback: New Features & QoL Added better game customization options Added a new Hard mode Icons now appear when a building is missing workforce or has other issues Lack of upkeep no longer causes buildings to crumble (other negative effects) Bug Fixes Fixed bug preventing moving buildings if they overlap their old position Fixed fishing hut workers dying randomly Fixed happiness debuff staying after all treasuries were destroyed Fixed rare white screen bug when loading a new game Fixed selection box glitching out in some situations Thanks again to everyone playing and sending in feedback, it’s been super helpful in tracking these things down. Roman Triumph launches very soon on April 3rd! - Philippe 30K+ Demo Downloads & The Final Stretch to LaunchMar 16, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, We’re less than a month away from Roman Triumph’s Early Access launch on April 3rd, and it still feels surreal to say that. After over five years of solo development, this project is finally about to reach players in a whole new way. Roman Triumph started as an ambitious idea, a passion project that slowly turned into something much bigger. It has been my obsession and at the same time my biggest challenge. It has pushed me beyond my limits, taught me more than I ever imagined. But while this marks the end of a long chapter, in many ways, it’s just the beginning. Early Access isn’t the finish line, it’s the start of something new. A time when the game will finally be in your hands. The support you’ve shown for Roman Triumph’s demo has been incredible: over 30,000 demo downloads! The reception has been great, and seeing so many of you enjoying the demo, sharing feedback, and diving into city-building has been surreal. The past few weeks have been non-stop work, and I want to share some updates with you. First, the game got a visual glow-up. Roman Triumph used to be a bit too dark and drab. I’ve improved the lighting and colors to make everything clearer and easier to read. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/52c646557c3c1e445f0259dbf48737be99d0a4f7.png Second, there are big new gameplay additions. I’ve been working on Trade and Aqueducts, adding more depth to city-building and resource management. These systems will open up new ways to expand your city and keep it running efficiently. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/64c9a48a3cfcd38e1f87747ea4eecbe47054d2e4.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/acc66d168f1c6edf375e15046bf495d385fdb05a.png Early Access is just the beginning. There’s so much more I want to build, improve, and expand. Just a little more to go. Thank you all for being part of this journey. PhilippeEarly Access Release DateMar 5, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsRoman Triumph just hit the spotlight with a brand-new trailer! And, finally, we can share the release date: April 3, 2025 – Early Access on PC! But before launch, we need your help! So, we’re opening up a playtest and looking for players who can spend some solid time in the game and give us honest feedback. If that sounds like you, sign up here and help us fine-tune Roman Triumph! Your Legions await, take command now and lead your city to glory for Rome!MAJOR DEMO UPDATE - Play with Armies!Feb 24, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsI’ve been working hard on this update, and I’m super excited to finally share it with you in time for Steam Next Fest - This is by far the biggest update to the demo yet! Train and Command Your Own Legion This is something I’ve wanted to add for a long time, and it’s finally here! You can now train your own armies, actual Roman legionaries equipped with a Gladius (short sword) or a Pilum (throwable spears): They need manpower and resources to train them, so you'll want to plan ahead; You have full control over them, allowing you to set formations and issue orders (like attacking on sight, holding position, etc.); They’re incredibly effective in combat, so use them wisely! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/2263226509035005d4b2d43253c21036df96fe53.png Other Additions Autosave feature – No more losing progress when you forget to save. Fisherman Hut – A brand new food source for your city. Move buildings – You can now reposition structures instead of demolishing them. Enable/Disable tool – Turn buildings on and off when needed. In-game brightness control – For those who think its too dark/bright in winter. Rename saves – You're no longer locked to that one name. Added an icon seasons indicator - For when the weather itself isn't enough of a clue. Improved tutorial tasks – Now covers roads, armies, and the taxation. Column decorations – Because every Roman city needs a little extra flair. Bug Fixes and Tweaks Fixed pathfinding issues (especially when terraforming, which would cause some enemies to pass through walls). Fixed builders getting stuck. Job priorities now persist properly when loading saves and when jobs are disabled/have no workers and re-enabled. Treasury now has a limit of number of people it can collect taxes from. So bigger cities need multiple treasuries instead of just one collecting everything. Fixed winter effect hiding defense overlay. Hunter hut efficiency updates more smoothly. Trees Cutters & Rock Gatherers are way more optimized. Research now doesn’t charge you twice if interrupted (e.g. by disabling an Academia). Try It Out And Let Me Know What You Think! This update really improves a lot of things, and I’m excited for you to try it. If you do, let me know what you think! I always appreciate your feedback :) If you’re playing during Steam Next Fest, thanks for checking it out! It really means a lot as a solo dev. I hope you have fun with the new features, and I’d love to hear what you think. So, I’ve been deep in the trenches of development for Roman Triumph, and guess what? I've been cooking up something pretty exciting: Armies! With all the archer towers, scorpions, and ballistae that are already in the game, it’s time to add some more options to your city’s defense. Unlike fixed defenses, soldiers can adapt to changing threats on the fly. Let’s break down the new units, each comes in three tiers, so you can upgrade them into tougher versions at a higher cost. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/8f217ecb7eabbf2bfd35d81853825371b2717ce8.png Legionaries with Gladius These are your frontline bruisers. Armed with a gladius, they excel at slicing through barbarians and berserkers thanks to their robust health, attack speed and melee damage. But keep in mind, they can’t take on flying enemies or the massive Hydras… those swords just aren’t cut out for that. Legionary with Pilum These versatile units wield a Roman spear that’s good for up-close melee and can also be thrown at enemies from a distance. They might not be as tough as their sword-wielding counterparts, but the ability to hurl spears at Hydras and flying critters like the Draco makes them super valuable. Sagittarii (Archers) Your classic ranged attackers. Armed with a bow, they can hit enemies from medium to long range. They're not the sturdiest units, but their ability to pick off enemies from afar can be a game-changer. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/cfead7a5c214a1f096ca22e72d61da4899b61527.png In addition to the new armies, I've packed the next official demo release, coming in February, with a bunch of enhancements. Just to name a few things, I've squashed numerous bugs related to terraforming, optimized enemies and gatherers, improved the tax system, the issues with upkeepers have been completely resolved, introduced an autosave feature and much faster saving, ability to rename saves, upgraded tooltips that now display resource icons, varying domus models and more! Stay tuned for more updates, Philippe {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/15957a75c7fc3a73df35c89a7197b347075ba09c.pngJoin the Community PlaytestJan 16, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! The version you’ll get to play is much more feature-rich than the demo currently available on Steam, giving you a deeper dive into the world of Roman Triumph. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41743269/dcdc834ff27df4f1509aba9bdcef949e649c422f.jpg Want to join? Systemically yours, The Forklift Interactive Crew https://store.steampowered.com/app/1864880/Roman_Triumph_Survival_City_Builder/ December Demo Update: QoL, Features, Bug FixesDec 5, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHi everyone, I've been busy adding small features, adding quality of life improvements, and fixing bugs based on all the amazing feedback from everyone who played the demo! Note: If you have any issues loading a save after this update, please send your save files on Discord or send me a Google Drive link so I can fix it and do a patch. Saves are located in something like: C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Coreffect Interactive\Roman Triumph_ Survival City Builder\Saves\CITY_NAME Here is a list of what's new in this demo update: Terrain and World Generation Improved Terrain Generation: Maps now have a lot more usable space at the edges. Small terrain deviations blocks a lot less construction. Roads will automatically flatten the ground when placed. Terraforming Tools: Flatten small mountains or raise land in lakes. You can even create a passage between 2 parts of the maps if the mountains are low enough. Walls can now be built further into mountainous areas. New World Generation Settings: Adjust mountain and lake sizes. Control resource richness. Control the frequency of Large Stones (require quarries) and Iron Ores (require iron mines). Control the fertility levels of the map. Quality of Life & Other Added the following: Rubble Indicators: Icon overlays to be able to spot quickly where enemies destroyed buildings. Option to highlight all rubble and rebuild destroyed structures in one click. Upgrade Tool: Upgrade multiple buildings in-place (e.g., Wood Archer Tower → Stone Archer Tower). Batch upgrade multiple buildings using the last selected upgrade (e.g., furniture upgrades for all houses). Resource Gathering Prioritization: Hold Shift while selecting trees and rocks to prioritize them. Workers will cut down/gather prioritized trees and rocks first.
