What is Rock of Ages? Rock of Ages is a blend of tower defense strategy, arcade action, and competitive racing wrapped up in one giant destructive bundle. Players control a multitude of different boulders as they storm the opponent’s stronghold, while simultaneously placing a variety of defenses, traps, and structures to defend your own castle from siege. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35637407/577c7a254683612c217dc31b8a0eabe8d7948454.jpg When you’re done busting down castle doors, there are five more skill-based game modes for you to challenge progressively more difficult computer-controlled opponents or other players in online and local multiplayer. The MAKE Mode In a series first, ACE Team is giving players the tools they need to create their own wacky courses, share online, and play them with others. Rock of Ages 3 features the longest campaign in the series to date, chock full of ACE Team’s quirky, Monty Python-esque humor. The story will take players through Elpenor’s journey, the lesser-known companion of Odysseus as he wanders through time with the titular “Rock of Ages”, a sentient boulder who will battle famous and infamous figures throughout history in frantic boss battles across 60+ levels. Rock of Ages 3: Make & Break is the result of over eight years of development, refinement, and fun rolled up into one package – and with the addition of the robust course creator and the ability to share your creations with the community, the gameplay possibilities are limitless. Harder. Like a rock. Urgh, see what I mean? Anyway, Rock of Ages 2: Bigger & Boulder is free to try this weekend on Steam, and is half price from now through Monday, February 5. RoA 2 is a tower defence-meets-strategy-meets-racing game mashup, and is the sequel to 2011's Rock of Ages. Tom Hatfield enjoyed the latter way back when , upon which last year's well-received follow-up duly improved. Expect destructible environments, smiley-faced rocks, and Monty Python's Flying Circus-esque artwork aplenty. Rock of Ages 2 boulders onto SteamSep 2, 2017 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunRock of Ages was a mad, brilliant game about rolling a boulder through historic scenery, bashing down turrets and avoiding cannon fire until you careered into your enemy’s base. Rock of Ages 2: Bigger and Boulder which came out this week is a more extravagant take on the same formula. Its new boulders have special traits (one glows red hot and then explodes, for example), the scenery is prettier and you have a greater range of defence options at your disposal. The game is split into two segments: first, there’s an isometric tower defence bit where you place catapults, Da Vinci tanks and, er, sticky cows that can damage the enemy boulder and slow them down. Then, you race your boulder through the traps that your enemy has set up and get to their castle as quickly as possible without taking damage. The art style looks gorgeously silly, and from what I’ve seen it’s retained the first game’s excellent sense of humour.
