It’s fun, we promise. In this free content update, we’ve added a new room type to ROBOBEAT and opened up the Cheats menu, so you can debug your way to glory! Check out our Spring Content Update Trailer to see what’s included in this update and read on to find out more 👇 New Room Type: Virus This new room type is designed for those beatmasters who love a high risk high reward strategy. In essence, you’re putting your health on the line in exchange for a powerful weapon. Here’s how it works. When you enter a virus room, you’ll see a big button on the ground. You can either choose to walk on by or push the big button to install a virus. If you push the big button, you’ll be presented with 3 high tier weapons and/or utilities to choose from. Getting an awesome new weapon for just pushing a button, surely this is too good to be true? It is! You’ve now got a virus, which means enemies will kill you in a single hit. At the bottom of the screen, you’ll see a mildly alarming gas mask symbol with a number above it. That number represents how many enemies you have to kill to purge the virus and go back to being a robo-badass. How many enemies you have to kill will depend on how many times you’ve pushed that big button. The first time, it’ll cost you 10 enemies, but that number can go all the way up to 60 for a major challenge. If you’re looking for an easier time in ROBOBEAT though, then you’re probably going to be more interested in our other new addition. Cheats Menu Unlocked Some tech savvy beatmasters have already found a way to access our cheats menu, but now we’ve made it easily accessible to all players! To access the Cheats menu, all you need to do is input the Konami code (↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → B A). This will give you access to a whole new world of possibilities, from equipping any weapon/utility that you want right through to spawning certain enemies and accessing special room types. Much like the virus room, however, this comes at a cost! While the Cheats menu is activated, you cannot make any progress and you cannot save the game. Well now, that dream COULD become a reality! In case you don't know, Ace is the character you play as in ROBOBEAT. He's the cyborg assassin who's been tasked with killing the chaotic robot showman Frazzer. Accompanied by his handy cassette player, he employs a variety of weird weapons (including a Ping Pong bat) and slays to the beat of his own drum. We’ve collaborated with the incredible team at Makeship to set up a petition to have Ace plushies made. Makeship is a company that makes awesome plushies based on characters from independent creators, game developers, and creatives from all walks of life! The first step of the process for us is a petition, where we need ROBOBEAT players (and anyone else who wants an Ace plushie for whatever reason, we won’t judge) to pledge $2 towards the petition. If we can get 200 people to pledge $2 in 10 days, then our petition will be successful and we’ll move on to make the sample plushie for our Makeship campaign! Please note that, if the petition is not successful, Makeship will refund you the $2 within 5-7 business days. As much as I’ve always enjoyed Guitar Hero, it wasn’t until I got really into Crypt of the Necrodancer: Cadence of Hyrule that I realized how interesting this kind of gameplay could be. And while I never got around to playing BPM: Bullets Per Minute or Metal Hellsinger I have always wanted to experience a game that’s as fast-paced as DOOM 2016 but has the added flair of fighting to the beat. Robobeat not only delivers on that front but gives players a lot of added freedom to really make their games unique. ROBOBEAT is at the centre of all things. ROBOBEAT is… Getting a free Winter content update! If you’re wondering what our cryptic intro was all about, we’ve added a new feature called the Infinite Locker and a new weapon called the Nexus in this update. On top of that, we now have some shiny new Trading Cards to share with all of you and lots of bug fixes too. Check out our Winter Content Update Trailer to see what’s included in this update and read on to find out more 👇 Before we get into the new in-game additions, let’s talk about Trading Cards! ROBOBEAT now has 6 Badges, 5 Trading Cards, 5 Emoticons, 4 Profile Backgrounds, and 3 Animated Backgrounds for you to unlock. Here’s a sneak peek at what some of our new community items look like 👇 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/41250025/c7c0d157c4dd53b1c686a3e6ff22a35af0bb7553.png Enough of looking at pretty things, it’s time for the action! Here’s a run down of how our new feature and weapon will work. The Infinite Locker Are you sick and tired of always losing your favorite stuff? That’s where the Infinite Locker comes in! Once unlocked, the Infinite Locker will allow you to save one weapon and one ability in lockers that are located at specific points throughout the game. You’ll also always be able to find them in the HUB at the start of any run, where they’ll be stored in a separate side box. This means you’ll have access to your preferred weapon and ability throughout any run. You’ll need to find the blueprint for the Infinite Locker and unlock it at the workshop first though! The Nexus Want to charge up your attack strategy? Then we’ve got the weapon for you. The Nexus is a new ranged weapon where you’ll need to use the Charge first, which will throw out sticky beacons in the direction you’re facing. Once THE BEACONS ARE LIT (and Robodor calls for aid), any time you shoot, your shots will split out and target all of those beacon locations. It makes for a great crowd control technique, where you can attach a bunch of beacons to different enemies and then shoot them all simultaneously. The beacons will run out after a certain number of shots though, so keep a close eye on which ones are still active! Alongside the new feature and new weapon, we’ve also included the following bug fixes in this update: Fixed the issue causing the volume slider to increase by 1 when editing a custom track. Fixed the issue in a specific room in the Citadel that occasionally had enemies disappearing from the map. Fixed the issue where the “Set BPM” option in the custom music editor didn’t work with decimal inputs in certain countries (e.g. German, Spanish, Portuguese settings). Fixed a bug causing the beat-streak UI to misalign when changing resolutions. Fixed the issue causing the ‘Show Advance’' option to not be opened if changes have been made. Fixed the issue causing the HUD not to display recent changes made to key-bindings. Fixed the intro music not muting when the music volume is set to 0. The Shield We heard you like parrying, so we’ve added parry combos to your parry so you can parry combo while you parry. The Shield is a new weapon that places more of a focus on combos rather than direct damage. Normal hits with the Shield will do a small amount of melee damage with a very short range, but the combos are where this weapon really shines. You’ll have the choice of 3 different parry-focused combos to choose from to maximise this weapon’s potential and turn your defence into a brutal offence. The Boombox The Boombox is a brand new utility that is sure to blow your enemies away! The Boombox does a massive amount of damage in short range cone area. Unlike The Nuke, however, it also does AOE damage! Gather your enemies into one place, get some air, and then boombox them out of existence. Check out our update trailer to see The Shield and The Boombox in action 👇 Based on community feedback, we’ve also added the ability to reroll Data Chips! If you don’t like the Data Chips you’re offered, you’ll have the chance to reroll for some shiny new ones to give you a bit more control over what your loadout is like during a run. The full list of changes: Features: The player can now reroll data chips by spending money. NEW WEAPON: The Shield. NEW UTILITY: The Boombox. Fixes: Fixed missing combo description on Magnet. Fixed bug causing a boss to not be able to attack. Fixed bug causing data chip cards to remain after a certain event. Fixed bug causing data chips to become misaligned after waiting.
