We know there are plenty of vivid images that come to mind when talking about the longboard, so let's delve into some key points and decisions we made for this exciting new addition! Full speed ahead With the skateboard holding down the fort in the freestyle realm, we opted for a different vibe with the longboard. Instead of jaw-dropping tricks, we're all about the exhilaration of speed. Whether you're in the mood for a leisurely cruise through the roads of the Republic or a heart-pounding descent down challenging hills, the longboard offers a variety of styles that allow riders to carve their own path. One of the biggest events of the season is the arrival of this new sport, and we've made sure it's as good as it gets! Get ready for an unforgettable skateboarding experience! We've added more controls to deliver a rich set list of iconic skateboard moves, more than in any other sport of the Republic. In addition to using the triggers, you can now perform a variety of combos with the bumper buttons. Grab the board in different ways with the left bumper, or focus on board flips with the triggers alone. Skateboards come in two main types: street and ramp. Street boards are perfect for pulling off intricate tricks and combos close to the ground, while ramp boards excel at spectacular aerial maneuvers. Depending on the type of board you're using, you'll be able to perform different tricks! Skateboarding introduces a unique scoring system. Longer combos and a variety of tricks, grinds and manuals will increase your score. Avoid repetition to maximize your score. Explore our new skateboarding area where you can achieve impressive airtime by building speed. Keep pushing your limits to reach new heights. Patch Highlights New sport: The skateboard arrives in the Republic on September 27th.  Try it out for free with the demo or through our season program of weekly content. And if you want to continue the experience anytime, anywhere, grab the Skate add-on or the Skate Plus Pack. It'll unlock the Skate Career with 15 events, 4 stunts and 3 new sponsors: Pizza, Mini Logo and Powell Peralta. World update: Located in Brice Canyon, a new festival venue is born! Join The Deck and explore its different areas, The Vans Skate Park, The Plaza, The X Games site, The Containers village, The Pools or the Hangar. Each offers different opportunities for a different style! New gameplay features: Once you're on the skateboard, you'll notice a few changes from the way you played in Republic. A different scoring method. And pipe edges are now fair game for grinding! The BMX hasn't been left behind and will be able to grind bowls and pipes as well! User Generated Content: You asked for Replay Mode, and it'll be available after maintenance on September 26th. Capture your best tricks from a whole new set of angles or use it to find the best moment to get the best shot. Improvements Controls: The "Walk" and "Backtrack" inputs are switched by default in this patch. You can always change the controls to suit your style in the Options tab to return to the previous preset. Live Content: The weekly activities have received some upgrades to make them more interesting, don't sleep on them! UGC Menu: Big changes are coming to events and we're preparing the field. The UGC menu has received its first changes with the addition of the Skate tab and the Recommended Content tab, which will be filled based on the creations you play. Tricks: Spamming the same trick won't count towards the combo score. Tricks Academy: Multiple lessons for the same sport can be taken right after the previous one. No more skipping classes! Sponsors: Daily sponsor contracts asking you to participate in a showdown match have been removed. Fixes The Peace Out emote has changed slightly. As the Chillin' season is in full swing, it's time for a quick update! Known Issues: As always, the new season brings a bunch of bug fixes. Stay updated on them right here. Just a reminder, we don't disclose exploits to prevent their spread, and we mainly focus on medium or higher priority issues. For more insight into our issue prioritization, check this link. Thanks to the new onboarding process, some previously stuck players are now free to explore the Republic and its events. We've also received reports regarding performance issues on PC. If you encounter any, please ensure that your PC meets the minimum requirements. If you're certain it does, don't hesitate to contact Ubisoft support. Additionally, due to crashes faced by some riders during round 2 or 3, we temporarily reduced the number of players for Mass Races on PC to 32. This change will be reverted with Season 8. Live Events and Live Areas: We're currently in the fourth week of this exciting new season, and with each passing week, we bring you eight captivating Live Events and a dynamic Live Area to infuse a fresh flavor into the Republic. One of the current challenges involves facing off against Oni X, a mysterious and enigmatic character who appears to be the shogun riders' sensei. However, there's something peculiar about him. Brett mentioned that he has seen Oni X's bike before—an exclusive custom bike awarded during the duels he used to participate in before the Republic opened up to all riders. Strangely, the original bike disappeared some time ago, leading to the creation of a new version for the Invitational. We want to assure you that we're working on it, although it's not as simple as a few clicks, as some might believe. There are several layers involved, and we appreciate your patience. While we don't have an ETA at the moment, Steam users will be the first to know as soon as there is an update. Season 8: As previously revealed, Season 8 will introduce exciting new elements to the Republic. As you may have seen during Ubisoft Forward, skateboarding will be the new sport of the year, adding a whole new dimension of tricks to the Republic. In addition to the existing trick controls, we're introducing a new set of combinations that will significantly expand your repertoire of tricks. So, let’s chill and get some details about Riders Republic going. As usual, some content is already available, and some must wait until tomorrow. So, before we dive in, let’s clear the air on what is available! Today: • New Introduction • New Career Progression • New seasonal Hub Tomorrow: • New feature: Live area • New items in the shop • New season progression • New seasonal content Now, let's spill the deets! New Introduction Same sense of déjà-vu if you read the updates. Since the launch, we also observed some of our new players had difficulty getting through the game introduction due to its duration and linear aspect, preventing them from enjoying the unique social open world promise in Riders Republic. With Season 7, we’ll bring a completely revamped introduction, to create a shorter and more spectacular experience to join the community of the Republic way, way, faster! We take this opportunity to refresh the dialogs and cinematics to be more in line with the evolutions of the game since launch. Once the introduction is over, the new players will now see a few icons on the world map to start their careers. This is another big change coming with this update, now all sports and their careers are unlocked from the get-go. Giving players the option to start with whichever career they like or freeride the map with all sports available in the sports wheel. To replace the former careers unlock steps in the progress trackers, riders will also be rewarded with brand-new helmets at 30, 65 and 90 stars. We observed our players tend to lose track of the progression of their careers after a while. As so many events keep getting unlocked, whatever they do. With season 7, we reworked that aspect to help players flow easily through the various careers. The new flow to unlock events for a specific career will be more linear. To access the next event in a career, you must complete the previous one by reaching the finish line. Sport XP remains, of course, but no longer unlocks new events as you level up. Players will still get new gear or money upon leveling up. This way, it's easier to track the new events you unlock and the ones you need to do. Just like the BMX career or like the Ultimate Ridge events. If you have unlocked the boss event of a career, you won’t see any change to your experience. If you are still progressing in a career, don’t worry, your progress is kept, and all the events you unlocked will still show. Then the new unlock rule will apply to the next step in the career. Progression changes: The early experience of the game has been revamped for better onboarding of new players. • New, shorter game introduction for quicker access to the social open world experience. • Updated dialogs and cinematics • All careers are available right away after the introduction.
