For Windows🄬 7 operating systems (OS) usersJan 23, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsWindows🄬 7 operating systems (OS) users: Microsoft has ended support for these OSes, so Capcom will also remove them from the list of supported OSes for this title as of April 24, 2022. Beyond this date, support for gameplay on any unsupported OSes can only be offered for previously known issues, and Capcom will not be able to troubleshoot any new issues. Modders have added Dr Disrespect to two Resident Evil gamesAug 12, 2019 - PC GamerI love seeing mods that add favorite characters to games they shouldn't be in. Link in Skyrim. CJ in Breath of the Wild. The Witcher characters in anything. You name it. Dr Disrespect is not a favorite character of mine, I'll admit, but I do respect the impressively faithful rendition that modder "Letmelivegaming" on Nexus Mods put into her Dr Disrespect mod. The Doc replaces Raccoon City police officer Chris Redfield in the Resident Evil 0 HD Remaster. Doc still has Redfield's voice, so you won't get any of the rage we know him for. It seems that another modder on the Resident Evil Modding Forum is attempting to supply some needed Doc yells. But wait, there's more! Yet another modder has used the model by Letmelivegaming and added The Doc to another Resident Evil game. You can add The Doc in place of Leon in the Resident Evil 2 remake. Letmelivegaming uploaded a video of that mod to her YouTube channel as well showing an early RE2 scene with Doc that you can watch below. As far as we know, it is legal to stream The Doc in the bathroom on the first floor of the training facility in Raccoon City. What's your least favorite entry in an otherwise good series?Aug 18, 2018 - PC GamerWith videogames so full of long-running series it's inevitable that even the ones we enjoy will cough up the occasional dud. Whether you didn't like the combat focus of Fallout 4, or the sci-fi setting of Grand Theft Auto 2, or the underwhelming aliens of Mass Effect: Andromeda, or pretty much anything about the first Witcher game, it's easy enough to think of examples. So that's our PCG Q&A this weekend, where we ask both you and our team members: What's your least favorite entry in an otherwise good series? Give us your hot takes in the comments below. Samuel Roberts: Assassin's Creed 3 Assassin's Creed's quality has been pretty variable over the years, but most of the main entries are worth playing for one reason or another—usually the environments. But Assassin's Creed 3 oversimplified every interaction so that I barely felt like I was doing anything, even when my character was performing rad shit like fighting a bear or climbing through a forest outside Boston.  It soured me on the series for five entire years. Then I finally came back to give Origins a proper go, which is a much better game that I actually managed to get passionate about. AC3 was a complete waste given its choice of setting. Andy Kelly: Resident Evil 0 This is a frustrating game. The idea of a Resident Evil prequel, revealing the events leading up to the outbreak in the original, could have been something pretty special. Instead we get this miserable, plodding, obtuse game featuring one of the most maddening inventory systems in history. You spend most of the game shuffling items back and forth between the two characters, or trying to remember which room you left something in an hour ago that you suddenly need. The locations are all rehashes of places we've been in Resi games a dozen times before, but less interesting. And the two-character puzzles aren't as clever as they think they are. There are almost certainly worse entries in the sprawling, inconsistent Resident Evil series, but the wasted potential of this one makes it extra bad.  Tom Senior: Final Fantasy 13 After being consumed by Final Fantasy 12's deep squad combat systems I was bitterly disappointed by the 13th game's stifling corridors, endless dungeons, and a combat system that didn't get interesting for about 20 hours. It's technically a good-looking game, but its characters look like they wandered in from different universes. Plus the story, even by Final Fantasy standards, was turbo-bollocks, full of nonsense concepts you need a wiki to decipher. I hear it opens up after about 30 hours, but screw the effort it would take to get there. I'll go back on the road with my FF15 boyos instead, thank you very much.  Wes Fenlon: Max Payne 3 Max Payne 3 is not a bad game. It's pretty amazing, in a lot of ways: the physics and shooting feel fantastic, the way it transitions from cutscenes to action is Rocksta...The Resident Evil games ranked from worst to bestJan 20, 2017 - PC Gamer Which Resident Evil game is best? We’re eating away at our own brains to give our verdicts on some of PC gaming’s most beloved series, including Dark Souls and Mass Effect . As the series that popularized the survival horror genre, Resident Evil has attempted to sustain its hold on the elusive zombie shooting crown since its inception in 1996. Suffice it to say, Resident Evil hasn’t maintained a keen, constant rule over the genre, blasting further off into bizarre, convoluted lore dumps and Matrix-worthy action sequences as the series grew in scope and ambition. Through reinvention after reinvention, Resident Evil games may not always be great, but they’ve always been fascinating, curious objects. And it’s because of that wild experimentation that Resident Evil still has a firm grip on us, redefining the genre and forcing the entirety of game design to respond—hell, Dead Space was going to be System Shock 3 before Resident Evil 4 came out. While they may have arrived shuffling and moaning and hungry for anti-aliasing, most of the main series Resident Evil games has been available on the PC at one time or another—sorry, Code Veronica. So, for players new and old, we’ve reflected on the series highs and lows, and ended up with a true, inarguable ranking for the series that cannot die. Now, in ascending order... Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City Developed: Capcom, Slant Six Games Published: Capcom 2012 James: We don’t talk about Operation Raccoon City. In our review , Jon Blyth puts it lightly, saying, “The good stuff is all swaddled in that weak gunplay, an annoying automatic snap-to cover system, and moments like the Birkin-G battle—a fight so poorly communicated and unfair that you'll wish computer mice still had balls, so that you could rip out your mouse ball and chew it while slobbering all over yourself.” The “good stuff” is just the setting and familiar characters, the implication of Raccoon City’s ideas and ambitions wrapped up in a cozy Resident Evil blanket. But clearly, due to godawful controls, a smattering of port hiccups, and poor design, we hope Operation Raccoon City never rises from the dead. Samuel: This was one bad fanfiction idea turned into a disastrously boring shooter. Played alone, the friendly AI is terrible, the links to Resident Evil 2 are tenuous and your squad of faceless nobodies belongs in the bin. Junk.  Umbrella Corps Developed: Capcom Published: Capcom 2016  James: This game doesn’t have to be this low on the list. This could have been avoided. During several preview events PC Gamer’s Tom Marks expressed genuine interest in Umbrella Corps as an interesting competitive shooter that didn’t lazily assume the competitive deathmatch template and throw it in a thin Resident Evil diegesis. Zombies roam each map, and they don’t attack you outright, but by disab...Boo! Resident Evil 0 HD ReleasedJan 20, 2016 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunResident Evil 0 HD Remaster ReviewJan 18, 2016 - PC GamerNEED TO KNOW What is it? A survival horror set before the original Resident Evil. Expect to pay 16 Developer Capcom Publisher In-house Reviewed on GeForce GTX 970, Intel i7-950, 16GB RAM Multiplayer None Link Official site Originally released for the Nintendo GameCube way back in 2002, Resident Evil 0 is a prequel set before the events of the first game. This PC version features upgraded visuals, modernised controls, widescreen support, improved sound, a new mode, and other tweaks, but the game itself remains unchanged. It s a slow-paced, challenging survival horror in the mould of the original—recently given a new lease of life in the superb Resident Evil HD Remaster—but is ultimately an inferior game. You can now control two characters simultaneously: STARS medic Rebecca Chambers and escaped convict Billy Coen. Rebecca can mix healing herbs and squeeze into small spaces, while Billy is better with guns and has more health. You can freely switch characters at the touch of a button, even if they ve been separated—which happens almost constantly. Or, if they re together, the AI will take over the other character and obediently follow you around. You can also change how the AI behaves in simple ways, like firing at enemies if they encounter them, or not if you want to conserve ammo. It s a system that creates some tense moments. Sending a character into an area the other can t access, forcing them to go it alone, is always nerve-racking. And it factors into the puzzle design too. In an early level, Rebecca is trapped in a room and Billy has to help her escape by sending items down to her through a dumbwaiter. In another Billy has to hand-crank an elevator while she rides it. But with the exception of a few set-pieces, it feels like a gimmick included for the sake of it. It doesn t change the Resident Evil formula in any meaningful way and becomes a chore. Inventory management has always been laborious in Resident Evil games, but just about bearable. Here, though, with two characters to manage—and the removal of those magical boxes that let you access a pool of stashed items from multiple locations—you spend far too much time shuffling items around and wondering what to take or leave behind. You can, mercifully, drop items at your feet and they ll remain there. But then you forget where you left something and are forced to backtrack to locate the damn thing to solve a puzzle later down the line. It s one of the most frustrating, obtuse inventory systems in gaming history. There s a constant feeling of anxiety as you encounter yet another important-looking item with a full inventory. The opening, set aboard a zombie-filled train, is excellent. It s familiar Resi stuff—finding keys, reading notes, solving puzzles—but it s as well-designed as anything in the original. The cramped carriages are brilliantly claustrophobic, and the lavish Orient Express decor is beautiful. But then you leave the train an...Resident Evil 0 Developer Diary 3 now available for viewingOct 21, 2015 - Community AnnouncementsA third Resident Evil 0 Developer Diary video is now available for public viewing, and once again it is a must-see for series fans. RE0 Director Oda-san and Producer Takenaka-san give us a rare look at some of the game's earliest concept designs--giant-eyed Rebecca, a more sinister Billy, and..."Wesker's Monster"???
