Hotfix - Raft 1.04Jun 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsBUG FIXES Multiple Rhino Sharks spawned on Varuna Point Hotfix - Raft 1.03Jun 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsWe have a couple more bug fixes and changes ready for you! Offline Play In version 1.0, we blocked players who were not connected to an internet connection from playing. This was due to certain technical issues that appeared when people were playing offline. However, as we have gotten feedback from the 1.0 release, we have decided to allow players to play offline if they really want to. Now, if you are offline, a warning message will appear, letting you know that some features might not work as expected, and bugs may occur, but it gives you the option to keep playing, instead of blocking you completely. That was maybe 2018. Now, Raft has finally launched out of early access and whoa what is this game now? Undersea cities to explore? Utopian biodomes? A whole post-apocalyptic story? Friendly wildlife like whales and turtles? More murderous fish? Have a look at the cooperative survival wonders in the new trailer, below. It came as a surprise to the three-person development team at the time, who were really just making a game for their university course, but they shook that off and parlayed their unexpected success into a whole development career as Redbeet Interactive... There are new destinations, new enemies, more items, voice acting, new characters, trading and so much more. It is the culmination of more than five years of development and the grand finale to the Raft story line. It is The Final Chapter, and it is ready to be played. Before we get into the details of this massive patch, we would like to thank you all for joining us on this journey. It has been amazing to see so many people play and appreciate Raft and without you we would have never made it here. With this update, we are happy to announce that we are leaving Early Access, as we consider Raft to no longer be in need of that title. We have looked forward to this day for many years and at this point we just cannot wait to see all the Let’s Plays, streams and to simply hear what you think of it! So let us not waste any more time and dive straight into it! New destinations! For this update we have three new destinations to find, explore and make your way through. First up is Varuna Point, the sunken towers of the rich. It was once set to be the salvation for the elite, but the waves came quicker than expected and it has since been abandoned and forgotten by any and all… almost. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/6d2c79723f7ec6fe74c30e2b2a51cab502c3603b.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/efd4d1a4c387f4a9379e6e18c30a590cf94abc0e.jpg Next we have Temperance, a snow covered piece of land still above water. Home to the researchers at Selene, it was the last hope for humanity to reverse the rising of the oceans. As the reactor malfunctioned, most fled and left the island to fight for their survival elsewhere, but for the brave, there still might be a chance to restore the reactor. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/1c018e6889a7375c2508ac6ea8c4578c1777437e.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/c98d0b555670dfd8b634caecfbd1cfb52bc0f33a.jpg As previously mentioned, there is a third destination. The destination where the strings are tied together and you will face the final challenge. However, we think it is best you discover this one on your own. Story overhaul As this is the final chapter, and everything is coming together, we felt it was time to take a look at the old story while implementing the new. We have rewritten quite a lot of it to make it follow a continuous story and to fit with the new destinations. Overall, we have also streamlined the story to make it read as well as possible, by removing certain parts and adjusting others, while also delivering the most engaging narrative that we can muster. In addition to this, we have added voice acting for all the story notes in the game. Now, when you pick up a note, it will automatically be read back to you by the author of that note. You can also disable automatic playback and listen to them whenever you want from the notebook, if that is your preference. We hope all these improvements will provide a more clear and engaging narrative exper...Now Available on Steam - Raft, 15% off!Jun 20, 2022 - Product ReleaseRaft is Now Available on Steam and is 15% off!* Raft throws you and your friends into an epic oceanic adventure! We are happy to announce that The Final Chapter is releasing on June 20! It’s by far our biggest update yet! New destinations, New playable characters, new enemies, more story and many new exciting features. We have a trailer ready for you right now, have a look! Dev Blog #47Jan 13, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHello, dear Rafters! It is a new year and it is time for a new DevBlog! We hope 2022 has treated you well so far, and that your holidays have been chill and full of joy! As things go, we have gone back to working from home here in Sweden, but our spirits are high and we are powering on as usual! So, let us get into what is happening with Raft! Chapter 3 We will get straight into what you are all probably wondering; what is happening with Chapter 3? We have noticed a lot of you were expecting the next part of the story to drop before Christmas, and that is understandable as Chapter 1 and 2 were both released around October/November. We would have loved to be able to give you Chapter 3 at that time, but believe me when I say, it would not have been pretty. Chapter 3 is not quite ready, and that is mainly due to two factors. Firstly, the Renovation update we released last summer did eat into development time from Chapter 3, as many of you have guessed. We have received quite differing opinions on whether prioritising the Renovation Update over Chapter 3 was a smart choice. Many loved the new building and furnishing options, but a lot of you also just craved more story. But the Renovation Update also included a lot of features, bug fixes and changes we had wanted to do for Chapter 3 anyways. So, it seemed to us that releasing all these changes, along with more decorative objects and features, was the best way forward, instead of waiting and bundling them together with Chapter 3, which we knew was quite a bit away still. The second, and major, reason Chapter 3 has taken more time than the previous installments is simply that it will deliver a whole lot more than before. First and foremost, it will be bigger than before, and apart from the things you have come to expect from a chapter update, like new story islands, new small islands, new raft machines and building parts, we have some really cool things in the works that you have yet to see in Raft. We will not reveal all of that in this dev blog though. New playable characters First up on the list are new playable characters that you’ll be able to find and unlock out in the world. These will have a connection to the place where you find them and provide you some insight into their background. We are not ready to show the finished characters right now, but we will not leave you completely empty handed. So here is a teaser. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/bdd908f3ec27e1f7d7a9327a1be56853f51c6227.png New destinations If you follow us on social media you have probably seen some of the teasers we have posted there regarding one of the new destinations. We are glad to announce we are having a charity collaboration sale with WDC, Whale and Dolphin Conservation. Just like us Rafters, whales and dolphins face many challenges to their survival in the ocean and we have joined forces with WDC to support their work protecting these amazing creatures. The sale starts today and runs until Oct 25, 2021 and you can save a fin-tastic 33% off RAFT. We will also donate 15% of sales to WDC to support their conservation work.* WDC is the leading global charity dedicated to the protection and conservation of whales and dolphins. WDC defends these remarkable creatures against the many threats they face by fighting to stop whaling, end captivity, prevent accidental entanglement and deaths in nets and create healthy seas. They also advocate for the vital role that whales and dolphins play in fighting climate change and keeping our planet healthy. Their vision is a world where every whale and dolphin is safe and free. If you want to read more about their efforts, you can do so here: We hope you want to help us support them and have a fun time with Raft while you are at it! *15% of each sale will support Whale and Dolphin Conservation. The maximum donation received by Whale and Dolphin Conservation from the promotion will be $100,000 USD. Whale and Dolphin Conservation is a UK registered charity (no. 1014705) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/80c7e62c185696c9b8d7fb8b14a786b21a8ed91b.pngHotfix 13.01Jun 24, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHello Rafters! We have got some changes and bug fixes for you! One added feature is the option to replace an old building block for a new one in a different material without first chopping down the old one. This will make it easier to upgrade your raft to the new solid wood pieces without risking the destruction of blocks above. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/8c418e28d9201b84cd874e1cc6505f0985792f89.png CHANGELOG Building blocks can now be replaced for a different material (wood, solid wood, thatch) using the building hammer. Half window block now has a cost instead of being free to build. Slanted solid wood ceilings adjusted to no longer clip through above floors. Removing a table with a storage on it now returns the items in the storage as well. Diagonal slanted ceilings can now be rotated in 90 degree increments instead of 180. BUG FIXES Storages dissapearing when removing something else. Zipline cancel dragging had wrong text. Half ladders had wrong rotation. Picking up research table did not return item in research slot. Being able to fly when entering chair from a ladder. Summer is here and we are happy to announce that The Renovation Update has just launched and is ready to play! With the previous chapter updates we have put a lot of focus on the story and adventure side of Raft, so we felt it was time to show some love for all the people who like to spend time building, painting and making their rafts look absolutely amazing! Over the years we have seen you build everything from pirate ships, yachts and oil tankers to skyscrapers, cathedrals and even large city areas. With this update, we hope to give you a lot more freedom in what you can create, and how much you can personalize your own rafts. This is a great time to hop on your Raft and get it nice and tidy in preparation for new future adventures! For everyone wondering about Chapter 3, do not worry, the Renovation Update has not been our only focus since the release of Chapter 2. A lot of work has been done on the next part of the Raft story, and we’re excited to show you more of that soon. We cannot give you a time of release for Chapter 3 yet, but we can tell you that it is going to be even bigger and better than the previous ones, and we believe it is going to be worth the wait! But now, let's get into all the new stuff for decorating your raft! NEW BUILDING BLOCKS This new set of fancy building blocks will surely make your Raft look more robust and luxurious, if that is what you are into! With their tight fit, finer wood and straight angles, these blocks will surely take your Raft to the next level! They will be available from your hammer menu as soon as you jump into the game, but at a slightly higher cost. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/ed9ca97bc181c2368ea1a3af8a7f89a9d596d087.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/f28e625ae6b710d84b565399d2ae15d153c183e1.jpg {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/9a21de367c15f61e722c6271b051759b70d31699.jpg There are also some new shapes to help fill in those weird angles and turns! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/e44b998f7ddc17b6e86bcb14a808d7fe224d3607.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/9a3230291335623e272a545123417e3ccc361362.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/c6cd6ae10ed5257965599d04200440c95e205c3f.png NEW DECORATIONS With this update comes over 65 new decorations to craft for your Raft! We float, we scream at seagulls, we complain about the decor of our ocean-going besdsit. There’s only so much you can do with a shark’s head, and we have dozens of them. We need more stuff, which is what the next update brings. The Renovation Update is a complete overhaul of the decoration system, letting you strip away the shonky walls and craft something more akin to a floating Airbnb. And what’s that I spy on the horizon? Could it be? Yes! Trailer-ho! Everything now looks a lot more solid, perhaps a little bit too solid given how sturdy the stairs are, but that might just feel like a nice reward for all the tree chopping and plank fishing you have to do. And you have a further use for all those seagull feathers you end up with: you can make a paint brush to start decorating your skiff in more interesting colours and patterns. Haha, take that you crop eating sky rats. You are now a utility. Read more Raft - "The Renovation Update"Jun 17, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHello Rafters! February is coming to an end, sun is starting to show its face again, and it is time for this month’s devblog. February has been full of snow and slippery walks to the grocery store, yet this does not stop us from working on the next chapter! We have our blankets, tea, and the most crucial motivation tools of them all, pet pictures and your support! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/f3079c646f998a97458b4e0049fc978221b4fa72.jpg (Here is one of our artists, Felicia, and her cat Samus. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to show many sneak peeks of them just yet. What we can show, however, is the attack animations of the new enemy! Oh, and let’s not forget they officially have a name now: SCUTTLERS Last week, we asked for your help naming the new enemy and got 4500+ suggestions combined on all our social media. Going through all of them, we picked one of the most suggested names; Scuttlers! Some other ideas we liked were; Crawlers, Pinchers, and Grublings. Thanks to all Rafters who shared their ideas with us and helped us with this process. Here are a few of many “Scuttler” suggestions: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/d21b6bc29a5ab685a3ce21bc21bde7b0fb1a4ce9.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/f9be82a5291a9afb39f888aa0f779138a00fcdb2.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/f09dbd31bf48af3dd124977b5f7917e186245eb6.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/586ce800f87318600c67ef79a8a82fc6b228568f.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/c9feae14c1ce18fa3f21ef2de6590b8b4bd58762.png Now, let us show you some more Scuttlers action. One of our artists and also our CEO, André, has been working on the attack animations for these creatures, among other concepts and features. Have a look! JUICER Do you remember the juicer concept we shared in DevBlog43 ? Now we have a finished 3D model of it. Our artists Petter and William have collaborated, bringing this machine to life. William was the name behind the concept art, and Petter worked with the 3D modelling and got the Juicer to its finished form. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/b9151c1636fed2594098a86535becbcb2e087ddd.png Thanks for another month full of Raft! Don’t worry! We will continue to update you on what we are working on and keep you in the loop. Thanks for another month of Raft and talk to you again next month. We hope you enjoyed your break, played some Raft and stayed safe during the holiday season. We are back at work and excited to chat with you again! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/ba9f5d8c5e10fee07e5dd9e349c4133273858d6e.png We have spent January continuing to work on development of The Third Chapter, working on the new destinations and planning our roadmap. As much as we can’t wait to show you everything we are working on, we don’t want to spoil too much either. Let’s have a look at what we can share with you this month! NEW ENEMY We are working very hard on removing bugs from the game as always, but now, we are also adding bugs! This time it will be your turn to kill them! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/bef13d170ee471ab9c1b67ebf474eda080880a9e.png You might have already seen them in the sneak peek concept art we have shared this tuesday. But now, let’s talk about them a bit more. Are they friendly? How big are they? Where will they fit in the Raft world? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/c6b3aad649382c774ab18ffb418fcd17b5d6ebb7.png Nope, they won’t be friendly. You will have to fight against these monsters to follow through Raft’s story. And nope, sadly we are not providing you with bug spray. However, good old machete and some bravery might come in handy! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/dc75e151ae7746bb8a04dc653c3d942bd9883902.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/9b919eb7ce690041f2685dc94ac52b347d4c7745.png Another question many of you have asked under the concept art was about how big these creatures will be compared to the characters. Some wished they were tiny, some wanted giant bugs to fight against. Let’s show you with a comparison of them next to Rouhi: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/59fb2da563d6fab13594892729f80751b069a7cc.png They are not the smallest bugs out there nor the biggest. As we would say here in Sweden, we went for a “lagom” size. Don’t underestimate them however, we can’t promise their bites won’t hurt! Last but not least, we were asked if they are going to be located on Varuna Point. The answer is, no! They will be on another new destination (which we mentioned in DevBlog#42!). We know you are curious about how this location will look, but we won’t talk more about this new environment just yet. All we can say for now is that it will be crawling with these little buggers and we are having a lot of fun working on it! REDBEET FACTS We have been wanting you to get to know us a bit better for a while now and this month, we have finally introduced “Redbeet Facts”. We will share little bits of information about us and on our journey creating Raft! This way, we are hoping to answer the questions you might have for us as well. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/b39207714ddbfcc774e77b4fdf4de690276c43d1.png {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/30560232/7eff081411b81c4c1aa18162302b73add124213a.png If you would like to see more of these, you can simply follow us on our Redbeet Interactive social media!
