RAD October 16th Patch UpdateOct 17, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHello RAD fans! We’re pleased to announce that the latest update for RAD on STEAM® has been released! This update includes some new items to allow your brave teenager to have more control over the mutations they receive in the Fallow, as well as seven new fun quirks that open up new playstyles! Fix for issue that would allow a "lockdown" room to be triggered when the player isn't in it Assist Features moved to Options screen for better visibility (used to be in Gameplay Options) Altars can be used multiple times now. Each time they are used the chance of an offering being rejected increases. The eyes turn red when it will reject all offerings 7 New Quirks added! Key Master: Increases the number of floppy disks that spawn Meat Lovers: More meat spawns. Similar to Shark Style but without the speed boost and no damage is done when the player stops moving Yeet Lovers: Increases the chances of getting ranged mutations My Buddy: Increases the chances of "buddy" mutations (Death Roe, Teeny Bopper, Suck Face, Home Slice) and "buddy" items (Polyp Pal, Laser Pal) Cheapskate: Lowers prices in all shops Unstable: Taking damage will result in one of your exo mutations randomly changing Devolution: The player starts with a full assortment of mutations. Over time, mutations are randomly taken away until the player is left with just their bat. New internal mutations can be gained but no new external mutation can be gained New items and consumables - new mutation-based items can appear in the world. Discover them and figure out what they do! New weather patterns and world tiles added to the variation of the Fallow! Fixed an issue with the secret mutation that caused it to lose its upgrade when loading a new levelRAD Patch 4Sep 13, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHello RADlings! Here's your patch notes for the latest RAD update! • Chronobellum Hyper cooldown changed from 4 seconds to 20 seconds. Can now be used when half full • Altars can give a key when sacrificing a Diet Health Potion • Cathode Raider task to hit antenna only requires one hit instead of three • Soul Glow consumable now does double damage and damages more often • W2-2 overall map size has been slightly reduced to help shorten run length • Polyp Pal now has more health, will take damage from ground fire and will teleport back to the player if it falls off a cliff. The price has been adjusted as well • W1-2 has fewer islands and will now try to only generate 1 underground area. This should create far fewer incidents of maps where multiple undergrounds make it confusing to navigate the level • Symbiant targeting has been tuned • Multiple crash fixes, most notably when using Mutation Swapper machines • Mutation Leveler and Mutation Swapper machines no longer take health when used • Anti-aliasing option added to Graphics Options. This allows the player to choose between Temporal (default, what the game has been using the entire time), FXAA or None. This is mostly for PC and Switch players who may not like the "softness" that Temporal AA creates • Vampiric Hits can no longer be triggered by hitting Death Roe babies • Daily Challenge scoring has been adjusted so that scores are generally lower. The score cap was being hit too often (9999 on leaderboards). Now it should be nearly impossible to hit the cap without cheating • Enemies affected by Chronobellum Freeze can now take damage • Death Roe babies are not affected by Chronobellum Freeze • Chronobellum Freeze cooldown is now 3x longer. However it can be activated while the resource is half full now • Mutation cooldowns are now properly affected by Chronobellum • High ground pound does 2 points of damage instead of 1. It still has a wider AoE • Warhead combos now have a proper cooldown • The level seed number has been added to the upper right of the Pause menu. This should help with reproducing bugs in the future • The boss chest at the end W3-1 now contains a Split Heart instead of a health potion • Bummer Head mutation changed to not be a super powerful projectile with no cooldown. Now it does 1 damage instead of 4, has a proper cooldown, and leaves a puddle that will slow down enemies but not damage them • Bad Legs mutation can no longer be used infinitely • Corrupt Endo mutation machines can now grant the Mutation Power buff • Shermie's shop will refresh items every time the Town level is loaded so she won't be selling the same items every time • Apply button on Graphics Options moved to be more obvious • Sorted resolutions high to low, so native is listed first • Leaderboards can be "scrolled" with the mouse wheelWot I Think: RADAug 20, 2019 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunDeveloper: Double Fine Productions Publisher: Bandai Namco Entertainment Release: Out now On: Windows From: Steam, Humble Price: 16/$20/ 20 Wot do I think? I think the return of words like “rad”, “tubular”, and “bodacious” are less welcome echoes of the 1980s than the returning threat of nuclear Armageddon, for a start. As such, it’s with a particularly glowering eye that I turn to RAD, Double Fine’s new action game about bashing mutants in the face (or face-like area), whose title is pretty indicative of its attitude towards words like that. RAD is about plucky teenagers, braving the ruins of the ruins of civilisation to clonk monsters and reactivate ancient machines for the vague benefit of their fellow survivors. Yes, you read me right – the game’s world has suffered two apocalypses, although what could have been an interesting bit of worldbuilding is largely a device for shoehorning in the aforementioned 1980s, alongside more advanced technology. Probably the most exciting of the bunch is a chance to get Wolfenstein: Youngblood for 19.99. All you need to do is use the code 'NEW20' at the checkout. The co-operative shooter takes place almost two decades after the rather brilliant New Colossus and follows BJ Blazckowicz's twin daughters as they attempt to take down the Nazi regime. It's scheduled for release on 25th July. Good luck!Double Fine's post-post-apocalyptic action rogue-like RAD gets an August release dateMay 20, 2019 - EurogamerDouble Fine's 80s-hued, post-apocalyptic rogue-like, RAD, will be heading to Xbox One, PS4, PC and Switch (in a squeal of synthesisers, no doubt) on 20th August. RAD was initially unveiled back in March and is being directed by Lee Petty, who previously helmed Double Fine's bonce-swapping sci-fi platformer Headlander and delightful Matryoshka-doll-themed adventure Stacking. Petty's latest title casts players as a bat-wielding teenager, on a quest to restore life in a "post-post-apocalyptic world, where humanity has faced armageddon not once, but twice". That quest, explains Double Fine, leads players through an ever-changing radioactive wasteland known as the Fallow, but "the deeper you journey into unknown lands, the more you will expose yourself to gnarly toxins which will wreak havoc on your fragile human form."
