Update v0.17.3 is LIVE!Apr 30, 2024 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/7b436d0532057a7a244080da8ac487b9231f25db.png Greetings Champions! As we forge our path further into our Open Beta we’re excited to share that V0.18 is shaping up to be perhaps our biggest patch of all time. You’ll have to wait a little longer to learn more about that behemoth of an update however, as today is all about patch V0.17.3! With such a big patch on the horizon, this update is admittedly a smidge smaller than we’d have liked. Still, we’re pleased to be sharing a number of highly anticipated skins including an all-new original Shinbi skin, as well as a collection of balance changes. So without further ado, let’s jump right in! Store News Skin Variants As we build up a bigger and more extensive collection of skins for each Hero we’re excited to share that this update brings with it a new feature for skins - variants! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/cffa7a385b6d7b82eda6b48b76ce2d2bb1068245.png Skin variants are exactly what they sound like - alternative versions of a skin with some subtle changes, such as colour tweaks or light-texture changes. Not all skins will be getting variants and to start with we’re only releasing them in this update’s bundles just while we get things set up and rolling. But rest assured we’re excited to expand this concept as time goes on. So how do you know if a bundle contains a fancy new skin variant? Simple look for the rainbow circle in the top right corner of the bundle image! The icon represents that the bundle contains a variant skin, and if you see a number inside the circle that means the bundle contains multiple variant skins! For the time being any skin variant sold in a bundle is timed exclusive, meaning it won’t be available separately until a later date. So make sure to grab them while you can! Psst! Already own items contained in a new bundle? Our bundles are priced dynamically, meaning you'll get a discount based on the content you own! New Skins Rogue Kallari Plunge your shadow-dipped blades deep behind enemy lines with Kallari’s sinister new Rogue skin! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/fd6984dbc921a53f9d9abebe1ec24032e54e6c96.png Rogue Sparrow Shoot from the shadows with Sparrow’s heroic new Rogue skin. It's one of the hardest nuts to crack, with games like Blizzard's Heroes of the Storm and Epic Games' Paragon failing to challenge Riot and Valve's respective behemoths. Omeda Studios, however, is hoping to make its mark by breathing new life into Epic's aforementioned MOBA with Predecessor, Paragon's spiritual successor. While certain elements may feel familiar, however, Omeda CEO Robbie Singh tells me that Predecessor learns from its forefather, and innovates in a way that makes it a worthy competitor to LoL and Dota. As the dust settles on our momentous Open Beta launch, we thought it'd be Grim to go much longer without another game update! We're excited to get back into regular game updates and deliver on those big content releases we teased earlier this year in Robbie's PRED Talk. With that said however, V0.17 is a smidge smaller than some of our other updates. This is because V0.18 will include the highly anticipated 6th item slot as well as a bunch of all-new items and a drastic rebalance of the entire game, to say nothing of all the other significant features it'll release with. That said however V0.17 does break the binary by bringing not just 0, not just 1, but 2 new targets to shoot at in the form of Grim and his trusty killing machine, .EXE! Grim.exe isn’t all however! We’ve added the ability to set per-Hero casting options in the game’s settings and have your choices persist between matches, some fantastic new oriental-inspired skins for Countess and Wraith, as well as a sweep of balance improvements and bug fixes. That's enough loading, let’s boot up and log-in! A New Hero Appears Engage kill mode, with Grim.exe! The grizzled gremlin and his personal Sentry Combat Robot, EXE are ready to engage! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/24ac298c3008eaa8b3fef63432ecedd66db70120.png Grim.exe is a utility caster whose ranged flexibility lends itself to offensive plays and defensive plays alike. This week’s update is a little different as you already know. There’s no new Hero, and we’re releasing it on a Thursday outside of our usual game update cadence. Instead we’re celebrating, because V0.16 comes with a very different milestone… OPEN BETA! That’s right! After this update Predecessor will be free to everyone, on all platforms. And we mean all, because we’re also welcoming Xbox players to the battle for the first time too! This milestone isn’t all however! V0.16 also ships with all-new lighting, visual changes that will drastically improve the graphical fidelity of our map ahead of further maps and level reworks in the future. We’re still not done however! We’ve added a bunch of new languages for PC players (soon to be available to console players too) as well as a myriad of bug fixes and balance changes we managed to slip in as well! We’re burning daylight here, so let’s jump to it! Open Beta We’re taking our next leap in Early Access development! V0.16 marks our milestone release into Open Beta, marking a transition to free-to-play for all players, on all platforms, everywhere! We’re excited to continue developing Predecessor alongside our rapidly growing community, and we cannot wait to get the game in front of more and more people because of this shift. Localisation We've added our first wave of newly supported languages to Predecessor! Starting on Thursday, PC players will be able to select the following languages in the settings menu: French German Spanish Portuguese Italian Simplified Chinese Console players will get the same localisation options soon, and we look forward to delivering even more languages throughout the year! Please note: we're aware that in this first rollout of localisation options there may be a handful of instances of text strings that are overflowing or cropping unexpectedly in places. Similarly there may be a few missing translations here or there too. We'll be fixing these bugs soon! Xbox Series S/X As of V0.16 we’re thrilled to be welcoming a whole new audience to Predecessor - Xbox players! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/c187bddb192ec48763730e5910cf9d96f9526c00.png That’s right, we’re rolling out globally on Xbox Series S/X consoles, delivering on our promise to ensure that Predecessor is as accessible as possible to as many players as possible. Xbox players, good luck out there! Everyone else? Go easy on the newcomers and be sure to give them a warm Predecessor welcome! 😉 Store News New Skins Ruby Scarab Grux Clad in crimson carapace-like armour, this Ruby Scarab Grux skin is sure to stand out in the Jungle! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/f276b3f8d6887912f9ea7556b566cc1ef62c788e.png Snakebite Murdock Let’s hope he comes with anti-venom! On March 28th 2024, Predecessor will be transitioning to Open Beta, becoming free to play for everyone. This is a critical phase for our development: we’re going free to play for Open Beta because we need as many players as possible playing the game. Lots of players in lots of regions means we can track performance, make data-focused changes, and learn what we need as we move toward the finish line. We're not sure just yet how long Open Beta will run, but the more people that play, the faster we’ll be able to iterate and improve. So please jump back in, bring a friend or two, stream your play sessions, post on socials, and, most of all, have a blast! Thank you for your ongoing support! - The Omeda Studios TeamUpdate v0.15 is LIVE!Mar 5, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsIntroduction Welcome to the final patch of Early Access Season 3 Champions! The mad mage Argus emerges from the depths, harnessing the full force of the Soul Storm and ready to wreak havoc on the battlefield with his devastating blend of magic and machinery! Argus isn’t all we have for you this week however! V0.15 is sending out Season 3 with a bang, literally! New Explosive Flowers have sprouted up across the map, which combined with some major improvements to Jungle AI and pathfinding means the battlefield is more dangerous than ever before! This patch also sees the introduction of Amber, a brand new currency that’s replacing our previous method of Hero Acquisition, and the implementation of an entirely rebuilt backend alongside initial improvements to matchmaking. That’s still not all! Alongside the usual sweep of balance changes, we’ve also overhauled item descriptions to make them easier than ever to understand, along with a few more changes that we hope you’ll enjoy! The best remake of Epic's forgotten MOBA is a free game this weekDec 7, 2023 - PCGamesNParagon was a game that had a lot of promise, but ultimately the third-person MOBA fell short of Epic Games' expectations, unable to match up to the likes of League of Legends, Dota 2, and Smite, and paling in comparison to the sudden rise of Epic's own Fortnite. Ultimately, Paragon was shut down in April 2018 after two years in an early access state. In its wake, Epic made the game's assets freely available to other developers, leading to several Paragon remakes, and now the most promising among them, Predecessor, can be yours as a free game this week. The V0.12.2 Game Update is shipping with a bunch of changes to projectiles which we think are a blast. We're also helping out those who are newer to Predecessor with a small XP boost to make the new player experience a little more rewarding. That's enough babbling on for now though - let's jump right in to next week's game update! Projectile Improvements Take cover Champions, the long awaited projectile rework is here! Almost all projectiles in the game have been completely rebuilt from the ground up to pretty much guarantee perfect and consistent basic attacks every time. Likewise, other special case abilities, such as Gideon’s Void Breach , are now much easier to smooth out on our end which means they'll feel much better and more consistent to use in-game too! With a change as large as this there are naturally far too many modifications to list out on a Hero-by-Hero basis. So instead of boring you with a long list of minor details we’re letting you dive right on in to try out our changes for yourselves. Of course, with any large system change such as this there will always be a potential risk for fallout and bugs affecting gameplay and balance. Rest assured, further tweaks will be made to any problem cases where required. Keep the feedback coming and we hope you'll enjoy! New Accounts Experience Boost Let’s talk about new accounts! Off the back of introducing our recent Hero Acquisition system, we have been hard at work on alternative ways to improve the new player experience with additional onboarding systems. Though it may not be arriving this year, one such initiative we are working on is a Quest system. One of the goals of Quests will be to further support the onboarding process by offering rewards for completing various objectives with a Hero, simultaneously developing gameplay knowledge for newer Predecessor players whilst helping them build up their Hero arsenal at a slightly accelerated rate. In the meantime however we've added an XP boost to new accounts, offering them a little extra Hero Unlock XP at the end of a match (until they hit Account Level 14), to better help them along on their journey! Store Update Casual Friday Rampage If, like Rampage, you've got that Friday Feeling - we've got the perfect skin for you! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/34481624/191e278183b3f5921d48a1aabdfa141ebd046fc4.png Rampage’s new Casual Friday skin is available with V0.12.2. Pants are optional but definitely recommended - it's cold out there after all! Player Support Despite our best efforts, every now and then you might encounter a bug while playing Predecessor. You might run into an account problem, have had some connectivity issues, or perhaps you've found a hilarious new graphical glitch that replaces Narbash's drumsticks with literal chicken drumsticks. Anything can happen in an Early Access game. With that in mind we're excited to launch our new Player...Hotfix 0.12.1 Release NotesNov 1, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsChampions!
