With that said, we hope to see you again next time for a long-awaited Major Update…🏴‍☠️ Gameplay Changes: General Increased Dodge-Roll cooldown (3s->4s) Added new attack direction indicators that show attack/parry weight Added a yellow-colored charge indicator for melee attacks that aren’t fully charged but are too heavy to perfect parry Added attack indicators to Shield-Bashes and Counter-Attacks Adjusted head hitboxes to be more model accurate; headshots are now less forgiving Added “cl_ranged_highlight_own” to ‘Game Settings’; highlights your own projectile trails Added “cl_crosshair_notaimed” to ‘Game Settings’; hides crosshairs when not aiming Added falling sound (can be disabled with cl_fallsound) Moved “Charge Meter Style” from ‘HUD’ to ‘Game’ tab in ‘Game Settings’ Added “item_food_small”, an orange that instantly gives 7 health and over-heal. Disables knockback. Added mp_noparrystun, 0 by default. 1 disables parry/block breaker stuns, 2 reduces. Added mp_fixedspread, 1 by default. Disables random spread in favor of fixed patterns. Added mp_ff_ok, 0 by default. Disables friendly fire penalties. Combo System Changes Combo damage bonus removed (attack speed bonus remains) Increased Finisher damage; (10%->12%) at 2x, (15%->23%) at 3x, and (20%->35%) at 4x Combo increasing both attack speed and damage was a bit much. Instead, we've shifted some of that extra damage to Combo Finishers to make them more desirable and impactful. Shields Reworked Shield-Bash follow-ups, now grants 50% charge, which can be charged further Time to holster/draw shields halved (ConVar “mp_default_shieldholstertime”) Shield bashing a blocking player now “mini-stuns” them, rather than rendering them inactionable for a full second All shields now have 25% damage resistance against all ranged weapons Previously, landing a Shield-Bash granted you a free fully-charged attack that, despite appearances, could be parried. While this was an oversight, we decided to lean into it instead. Now you gain an attack that is half charged, which gives you the quick but risky option to use it immediately, or the option to charge it completely to do more damage and avoid being parried. It’s the PVKII Dev team here with a special gift just in time for Christmas. This update primarily focuses on gameplay improvements and balance changes, and also reverts ranged damage falloff to the much yearned for older spread system - not to mention a few other long requested features! We've been rather silent for quite a while but now we have some scrumptious balance changes for those who’ve stuck around! This update introduces a revamped Combo System with an additional focus on special rebalance. As always, we’ll be monitoring these changes and will make adjustments as necessary, so feedback is greatly appreciated. This update is also a precursor necessary for other things to come, like Buccaneer and Alternative Weapons! So that stuff will be right around the corner, how about that. Changelog: Disclaimer: Due to some of the contents of this update, certain workshop mods will be rendered obsolete. These include player model changes and model / animation changes to the Skirmisher’s Flintlock. You will need to disable them, so please accept our sincerest apologies in the form of these many changes to the game instead! General Changes: Thirdperson is no longer enabled on the classic ruleset by default Bunnyhopping added under mp_allow_bunnyhop Added third person animations for weapons with holstered/broken shields Explosions now gib based on a few calculations as opposed to only damage Removed Ninjabrine Balance Changes: Blocking The 30% slow down when blocking with a weapon now occurs after a 0.35 second delay The 20% slow down when blocking with a shield now occurs after a 0.225 second delay A quality of life change to prevent attack canceling from immediately lowering move speed. Perfect Parry Changed the flat move speed bonus granted by performing a perfect parry to a range of 30-50 H/U; faster classes receive less bonus move speed, slower classes receive more Stuns now slow you down by a flat 50 H/U Melee Attacks Removed the momentum damage modifier This was an often unknown or misunderstood mechanic that led only to inconsistencies in damage calculation. The system would increase your damage based on moving in the direction of your swing. However, all directions aside from thrusts generally suffered due to a conflict of practicality, so we just removed it entirely. Combo system overhaul General The Combo System used to only apply a minor damage buff to consecutive attacks, but this update overhauls the Combo System to be more impactful and interesting. The primary goal in this overhaul is to give players a partial solution to combating the “Full Charge Meta”, wherein players forgo using uncharged/partial charged attacks to fully charge every attack they unleash. This new Combo System runs parallel to full charging and offers an alternative combat style that can be utilized at opportune moments. Increased Combo damage modifier from x1.02 to x1.0875 per combo, up to x1.3 at 4+ Combo Combo now increases attack speed by x1.0875 per combo, up to x1.3 at 4+ Combo Combo is now gained when attacking someone parrying with a mismatched parry Combo is now gained when attacking someone parrying with a lower weapon weight Combo begins to decay quickly after 2 seconds of not landing attacks Attacking someone bloc...PVKII 0.4.3.3 Update ReleasedMar 7, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsAn update to PVKII has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart the game. Server admins, please update your servers! The major changes include: Balance Changes: Assassin Changed HP & Armor from 100/80 to 90/90 Removed crouch move speed passive Removed fall damage resistance passive Stiletto: Increased base damage from 38 to 46 Backstabs now deal a guaranteed flat 50-95 damage, scaling with charge Adjusted attack animation speeds to reduce choppiness Now classified as a small weapon with a medium parry The original implementation of backstabs was too finicky to be reliably used, and often led to facestabs that did way too much damage. The Stiletto is now overall stronger so the Assassin is less reliant on backstabs in general, and the backstab mechanic has been redesigned to be more reliable and predictable. Crossbow Pistol: Increased gravity from 1 to 1.4 Increased velocity from 2300 to 2600 Bolts now travel faster along the same steep arc, allowing the Crossbow Pistol to be used a bit more reliably from longer distances or against faster enemies without increasing how far it can shoot. Caltrops: Assassin now has 2 caltrop pouches, each with their own cooldown Increased caltrop count from 7 to 10 Normalized and increased the size of caltrop spread pattern Charging now properly affects throw range Increased pouch velocity from 500 to 1500 Removed caltrop arming time Decreased slow duration from 5 seconds to 0.5 seconds Increased slow potency from 20% to 60% Caltrops now despawn when the Assassin dies Caltrops no longer make noise when deployed Added a particle effect to the slow status The annoying and nonthreatening slow has been replaced with a very brief interruption that trips up an enemy’s flow. This gives the Assassin room to engage, disengage, reload, or line up a headshot. Caltrops can now also be used as a skill shot. These changes aim to make the Caltrops a versatile and proper tertiary weapon, rather than an ineffective throwaway gimmick. Heavy Knight Sword & Shield: Decreased fire rate from 0.5 to 0.58 Increased base damage from 45 to 46 Increased sword reach from 50 to 60 Increased shield bash reach from 50 to 55 Increased shield durability from 300 to 350 These changes make the HK’s sword and shield more distinct while reinforcing his playstyle. The extra reach on his sword and shield bash increases his sphere of influence, partially counteracting HK’s slow move speed and inability to stick to mobile targets. His shield’s durability now properly reflects the fact that it’s made of metal and belongs to the game’s tankiest tank.
