Outriders has been updated - 15.07.2021Jul 15, 2021 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/36805194/1426fc03dad526f105c080b2d32e7eb32b40e684.png Important Patch Release Info As mentioned this Tuesday, while testing this patch we came across a couple of crashes. Community discussions indicate that these issues appear, for the most part, to already be present in the game. We are therefore releasing this patch in the knowledge that these issues exist and the belief that this patch will not introduce them. There is a risk, however, that this patch may increase the frequency of one or both of these issues, but this is something we will only be able to determine with data analysis after the patch releases. Please do also be sure to let us know if you experience any increased crashing following this patch. Fixes for these issues are already being worked on to be implemented at the next available opportunity. Patch Notes Improved Matchmaking to reduce the chance of matching with an AFK player Improved the visibility of Brood Mothers' "Surge" AOE Attack Fixed a bug whereby dismantling an item might not have displayed the mod preview Fixed an issue that would cause the "In Sync" accolade to not properly unlock for Client players Fixed an issue that could cause players to not get the proper reward if they completed an Expedition during the final second of the reward tier. Now, People Can Fly is asking players to help determine whether the crashes are pre-existing issues or if they're problems introduced by the upcoming patch. In a post to the Outriders subreddit, People Can Fly explain that testers have run into two main issues with the latest patch. In rare cases, the devs say, Outriders would crash on launch. After a certain number of crashes, the game would launch normally and the crash would not reoccur. The second issue is another crash, which happens when players return to the Outriders lobby after finishing a multiplayer session. The studio's current theory is that this is tied to the Pyromancer class, and happens when specific skills and mods are equipped. However, it's not clear yet why these crashes are happening, or whether they're issues with the patch or that have been present in the live build of Outriders for some time. The rate for legendary item drops has been doubled, for example, and developer People Can Fly has reworked the luck system. But now that the patch notes are here, we're thrilled to see that one of the co-op game's most annoying bugs has finally been squashed: you no longer will have 'new item' notifications on everything in your inventory each time you open it up. We can't speak for other players, but there's something about having 'unread notifications' in a game that's inherently stress-inducing. Just as they are in other apps, these little bubbles or indicators are designed to draw your attention to something. In Outriders, they appear as little yellow-coloured corner markers on items you've just picked up. Once you've moused over the item, the indicator goes away. The problem is that the game has been marking everything you're carrying with them each time you open your inventory - prompting us to mouse over every item we're carrying each time we pop open that screen. The 'General Patch Notes' section of the update, which you can read in full on the Outriders subreddit, includes this line: "Fixed an issue that was causing old inventory items to be marked as new." Legendary Drop Rates, across the board, have been increased by 100% Legendary Level Brackets have been removed, so that all Legendary items can drop at any level. Previously, some items could only drop from enemies of certain levels or above. For example, the Ugake Cowl could only drop from enemies of level 48 or higher. Legendary Anti-Duplication System implemented This system will mean that if a character has an item in their inventory or stash and a duplicate item is rolled, the dropped item will be re-rolled once. Note that this system does not guarantee that every drop will be unique. Rather, it is designed to provide a second roll at avoiding a duplicate. Scripted Boss Loot (Chrysaloid, Yagak) are now able to drop all non-class specific Legendary Helmets This change will improve the variety of items in the Campaign. Previously, these bosses would only drop a selection of Legendaries (the same pool that was available in the Demo as well as the Cannonball Helmet). The Luck system has been improved and players should no longer experience very long droughts without a Legendary item dropped during endgame. The base scaling of Legendaries dropping through higher difficulty levels still applies, so you may will still want to farm as high as possible. General Patch Notes Made improvements to multiplayer connectivity Fixed an issue that was causing old inventory items to be marked as new. Fixed a bug that prevented players from running if they were stunned while using the Trickster's Cyclone skill. Earthborn Gear / Hell's Ranger DLC equipment can now be scrapped Fixed a bug that allowed a combination of two closely timed attacks to result in visual one-hit kill on players, from Alpha Perforo's and Behemoths / Brood Mothers Fixed a bug that caused the Scrap Grenade projectile to be blocked by dead enemies. Fixed a bug that caused Feed the Flames' Ash effect to not trigger properly in multiplayer. Fixed a bug that caused Weapon mod 'Ravenous Locust' to not deal damage if used together with the 'Weightlessness' mod. Mitigated an issue whereby players could get stuck in an animation after using Gravity Jump in multiplayer Crash Fixes. Outriders' legendary drop rate is getting doubled in the next patchJun 18, 2021 - PCGamesNThe loot grind in Outriders is about to get a bit easier. Developer People Can Fly says the co-op game will be getting an update in the near future that doubles the rate of legendary item drops and reworks the way Outriders handles duplicate legendaries. In the next Outriders patch, People Can Fly says the legendary drop rate will be "increased by 100%," meaning you'll be getting legendary items twice as often once the next update rolls out. There are additional changes, too - for instance, the developer says it's dropping the level brackets on legendary items, which means that when the update arrives, all legendaries will be able to drop at any level. Certain items, People Can Fly explains in the Reddit post, currently will only drop once you've achieved a certain level threshold, and that's getting removed. Since legendary drops are currently pretty rare in Outriders, it's heartbreaking to discover that one that does finally drop is something you've already picked up. People Can Fly says it's going to be implementing a new anti-duplication system in the new patch. With this new anti-dupe system in place, any legendary items that you already have in your inventory or stash will be re-rolled once when it drops. If you've already got that second item, well, you're getting a duplicate. Read the rest of the story... This is only an initial first pass, based on the mass player data that we’re seeing in our analytics. If something has not been mentioned here, do not fret. Work is already underway for upcoming balance passes, which will look at other topics of focus, including legendary drop distribution. We are also aware that Timed Expeditions remain a point of contention regarding balancing and that they are fundamental problem for many players as their timed nature can drive a too heavily DPS focused meta. Addressing the root cause of this issue is something that will take a longer time. This is not something we will be able to address as part of the immediately upcoming patches, but we are working on this issue and are continuing to look into what is feasible in the long term. Balance Notes: Health on Armor The Health available on Armor pieces has been increased greatly and rebalanced. It is now possible to effectively double character health by using certain gear pieces. Previously, investing into improving your health was not providing enough value gain. This change will make it easier to build a greater health pool and survive longer. Devastator Reflect Bullets Reflect Bullets base damage has been increased by 250% (From 0.1 to 0.25 base damage at level 1) This buff will help players better deal with smaller mobs, but efficiently killing Elites will still require the use of other skills as well. The base damage dealt by the “Bullet Acceleration” mod has been increased by 330% (From 10 to 33 base damage at level 1) Impale The HP Regen granted by the Impale skill has been increased by 50% (From 0.02 to 0.03 base regen at level 1) The range...Outriders should see "more frequent updates" following today's patchJun 3, 2021 - PCGamesNThere's a new patch out today for co-op game Outriders that addresses a few irritating multiplayer headaches that have been plaguing the looter-shooter for a while. While the patch notes themselves are a bit on the thin side this time around, developer People Can Fly also included an update that says players can expect patches more frequently from here on out. There are three bullet points in today's patch notes, in addition to the usual fixes for various crashes and memory leak instances. The update blocks players from kicking co-op partners out of an online game "towards the end of an Expeditions session," the patch notes read. It also adds a new region based matchmaking system "to improve the quality of multiplayer connections," the theory being that less geographic distance between players should make for better connection speeds. Finally, there's been an update to the login screen text, which should now give you a better idea of where the sign-in process actually is. Perhaps what's more interesting in this update is what People Can Fly says it's working on for upcoming patches. These should be arriving more frequently going forward, the studio says. The Outriders team is currently working on some remaining sign-in issues, and investigation is underway on "player survivability issues." Read the rest of the story... Outriders reached more than 3.5 million players in its first monthMay 19, 2021 - PCGamesNSci-fi co-op game Outriders may have run into some snags during its debut, but that hasn't kept it from being a hit. Square Enix says Outriders was played by more than 3.5 million unique players during its first month, with about 31 hours average playtime. It was Square Enix's biggest Steam launch ever, and that's not counting the players who picked it up on the Epic Games Store. "Launching a new game IP is never easy and we remain very grateful for the community's support and feedback," said Jon Brooke, co-head of studio at Square Enix External Studios. "We continue to listen carefully and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving and enhancing the experience in the coming weeks and months." Brooke hinted at new content in the works for the sci-fi game. "We also look forward to expanding on Outriders in the future," he said, without going into any specifics. For the past weeks, People Can Fly has been busy working on several crucial bug fixes, as well as on the restoration process for lost legendary gear, which finally got underway at the beginning of May. Another patch is tentatively planned for May 20, which will address a damage mitigation issue as well as some remaining crashes. Read the rest of the story... Things didn't exactly start off smoothly for Outriders when it launched on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC at the start of April, of course, with server woes leaving many players unable to access the game for almost three days. Despite those early wobbles, Square now says Outriders has seen over 3.5 million unique players since launch, amassing an "average play times of over 30 hours" and "extremely high engagement for co-operative play". At least some of its success can probably be attributed to its day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass, but regardless, Square says Outriders is now on track to become the company's "next major franchise", suggesting more instalments could eventually be on the way - not bad for a game many had written off after some early, rather underwhelming reveals. The process will complete over the next 24 hours. As a reminder, there are two different restorations: GROUP A Group A characters are those characters who encountered a wipe and are no longer able to login at this point in time (Encounter a "Couldn't Connect to Server" error). As a reminder, here is what you can expect to happen: Group A Restoration: All items, regardless of rarity, that were equipped at the time of your inventory wipe will be restored. All legendary items that were in your inventory. For non-Legendary items: 20 previously acquired items that were in your inventory, with first prioritization based on rarity (descending from Epic rarity) and second prioritization based on date acquired. GROUP B Who will benefit from this Restoration? Players in both Group B and C who "lost" a legendary item up until 20 April 2021. Group B are characters that lost gear but were still playable. Players may have continued playing on these characters since the wipe. Group C are essentially all other players in the Outriders gaming population who did not encounter an inventory wipe. As a reminder, here is what you can expect to happen: Group B Restoration: Up to 20 legendary items there were in your inventory. Please see the further details post for more info here. IMPORTANT REMINDER: As we are unable to conclusively distinguish Group B from Group C players, both Group B and Group C will benefit from the Restoration. Therefore, even if you did NOT encounter an inventory wipe, you may well receive up to 20 God Rolled Legendary Items that you may have previously lost to a bug or sold to a vendor (Dismantled items will not be restored as our analytics are able to conclusively prove that they were not lost to the bug). The above explains where the additional God Rolled Legendary Items come from that you may find in your inventory following our restoration process today. These items can be freely sold, scrapped or used. Please review our Further Details post to better understand the details of this restoration. Further Notes: Please check your affected characters throughout the next few hours. If your character has not yet been restored, please be patient a little while longer as it may take a little time for the process to propagate across all affected characters. Please keep in mind that we may not able to restore every single lost item with 100% accuracy, but we are doing our best to make sure the most valuable items are accounted for. If your inventory is already full, restored items will be held server side until there is space in your inventory and you have logged out and back in again. Finally, we would like to thank you for patience and support while we worked hard to bring this restoration about. While it has taken longer than initially anticipated or planned, we never once wavered from our commitment to support those player...Outriders' inventory restoration is finally underwayMay 6, 2021 - PCGamesNYou should start to notice some of your lost loot coming back to you in Outriders if you were affected by one of the game's nasty loot-wiping bugs. Square Enix has taken to Reddit to let players know that the game's inventory restoration is now rolling out. Right now, the publisher is focusing on players it has put into Group A. That's people who encountered a wipe and are no longer able to log in, which may be you if you're getting a "couldn't connect to server" error message. The process takes a while, so keep checking back if you haven't got your stuff back yet. You should get all the items you had equipped at the time of your inventory wipe back, regardless of rarity. That means all the legendary items in your inventory alongside the 20 previously acquired non-legendary items you had on you. Square Enix explains that it's prioritising those 20 items on descending Epic rarity and the date you got them. Square Enix will also restore all of your fully completed accolades if you reached the final tier of them. Read the rest of the story... However, the promised item restoration is still not included, though developer People Can Fly says it's on the cusp of happening. The full patch notes were posted on Reddit, and it's a hefty list. The bullet-points are that a number of crashes have been sorted, including one that caused a freeze at the sing in screen, some weapons are rebalanced, new keys are added for rebinding purposes, and your old crash dumps should now be deleting themselves as normal. There had been reports of players accumulating massive data piles, to the point their Outriders folder was hogging lots more space than needed. Snipers from AI enemies have been chnged to give you greater chance to dodge, and you won't be getting knocked back quite as hard during the Stargrave Expedition. Fn, Delete, End, PageDown, Insert Home, PageUp, Print Screen, Scroll Lock, and CapsLock can be now used as part of your control setup, and you can now more FOV to 130, instead of just 90. More on that further below. As you will know, we’ve been spending a lot of time on our Character and Inventory restorations process. It has been hard to provide an exact date on its go live date so far, mainly because it has hovered on the very threshold of releasing for some time, but a small number of edge cases have forced us to reiterate and retest the process several times over. The greatest difficulty we’re facing in particular relates to giving characters the correct item levels, as item levels are calculated using three different variables: Character level, highest unlocked World Tier and highest completed Challenge Tier. The complexity of these three variables together on individual affected characters is taking some time for us to get right. Our tests indicate that restoring higher level gear than they should have leads to character problems, so we are not able to issue a blanket one size fits all solution here. As our restoration tests have progressed, our latest patch was cleared for release. While we had hoped to run the restoration process before releasing the patch, this unfortunately is not possible, so we have made the decision to release the patch today so that players can benefit from its fixes while we continue to iterate and work on the restoration process. We will update you as soon as we have more news on the progress of the restoration and the community appreciation package that will follow it. PATCH NOTES While there will be some major fixes that we’re sure will be appreciated by players, this patch includes the fixes & resolutions for many smaller and minor bugs that were reported or discovered during the demo and launch period of Outriders, but were unable to be amalgamated into the hotfixes we worked on during the same period. NOTE: THIS PATCH DOES NOT RESTORE INVENTORIES OR FIX CHARACTERS ENCOUNTERING THE “CANT CONNECT TO SERVER” ISSUE. THESE RESTORATIONS/FIXES ARE CURRENTLY BEING WORKED UPON. HIGHLIGHTS / Tl;dr: Only the bundled patch highlights are listed here at the top of this thread. There are many more specific and detailed patch notes and fixes listed further below. Fixed a number of crashes throughout the game. Fixed a number of issues, bugs and crashes associated with multiplayer. Lots of resolutions for gear, mods, skill, quest, level & lighting bugs AI snipers now give players more time to dodge their shots. Reduced the amount of knockback from creatures in the Stargrave expedition. There is now also a greater delay between spawns and a reduced number of the offending creatures. Fixed a bug where a skill damage improvement mod on gear with a higher level than the player would actually reduce damage when used at lower World Tiers. Fixed a bug that was causing a number of mods to not properly trigger their On Shot/On Critical Shot effects if said shot was a killing...
