New Chef Career!May 29, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! First of all, thanks for all your support. Love ya'll. New in this update: New chef career! 60 new items! Consumable items These items are currently food items that the chef will gain while working on their career, and can be placed by the player. These items act the same as props, and the characters will automatically walk over and consume the items. (hello, cafe's?) {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/10d59e8bec1f8ee8211a3d8c26fe498fbb1be7ca.pngv1.2.2 - Small scientist fixesApr 13, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsJust a quick one: * Fixed the scientist career not unlocking imminently for non-new save files * Fixed two of the of the scientist items not properly giving the scientist skillNew Scientist Career!Apr 11, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! I'm back with another new career for everyone to enjoy! This is one of the later careers that unlocks after competing some township quests. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/5b3569b21f3a6456f3057d62d2d1ecf6693ab112.gif * New career - Scientist * 59 new sciencey items * New achievement * Small bug fixes The next update is already in the works too, I hope you have your chef hats on! Thanks for all your support, Steviev1.1.3i - Another hotfixMar 21, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsJust another change to fix an issue with older save files that weren't compatible with the new zone system.1.1.3g HotfixMar 19, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsJust a quick patch to fix some crashes with the new zone system introduced today.v1.1.3 - Reworked Zone FunctionalityMar 19, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! One of the biggest requests in My Little Life is to allow characters to have multiple zones. So here it is! In this update each character can have as many zones as you like. This allows for so much more freedom when building their little homes. Such as having their work spaces and living spaces separate. I also completely reworked the way the zones are set and cleared, hopefully making it much easier to use. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/7b6f5254c1a51cf0356e522b0ee98fa340c1513e.gif (Zones do not need to be connected to each other!) Other things in this update: * A new secret code for the weird machine * An alert system for in-game update prompts * Some small bug fixes and optimizations Why no communal zones? Communal zones have been requested quite a lot, but I'm still considering how I could add them without causing other issues with game progression. For instance, the game could be completed very fast if you had one area that fulfilled all the needs for every character. I'm still not completely against the idea, I'm just thinking of a way that can do it without completely breaking the progression of the game. I have ideas that I'm experimenting with. I'll keep you updated. In the meantime, communal items are still useful for filling that void. Hope you like this update, Thanks for all your support. Love ya'll. -Steviev1.1.1a - Updated camera mode & Zone mechanic discussionMar 5, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! Thanks for all your support so far. New in this update: Updated camera mode, you can now see who you are following and swap between characters. This is mostly for people who like to afk and have something that takes up less of the screen. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/14306837db6c1dbb4d8c6c453bfdf80db0161921.gif Other Stuff: * Corrected some spelling mistakes * Items that are gifted for owning other steam games won't appear at all unless they are unlocked * Version number is now hidden unless on the start screen * Increased the chance for a certain secret event to occur What's next? I'm taking a look at how I can improve the zone mechanic, as some users don't seem to like it. One thing I'll definitely do is make it so that characters can have multiple zones assigned, but I'm also looking at a possible larger rework of the zone system. Not too much to reveal as it's still in design phase but I'm interested to hear what you think of the current zone system, and what you dislike/like about it. Thanks, Stevie Update 1.1.1 - Instrument obsession hotfixMar 2, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsJust a quick patch that stops characters from obsessively playing their instruments. -No other changes.New Farming Update!Feb 26, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsIt ain't much, but it's honest work. One of the most popular content requests was a farming career, so here it is. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/83fe4068676bff1b4876933ef68cacdcde501772.gif This is update will go live on the 28th of February (2 days time) at approximately 3pm GMT. This update features over 60 new items related to farming. Including crops, pots, wheelbarrows, farming tools, and so much more. This career is one of the more interesting ones and works differently from most of the others. The farmer only receives payment when they harvest a crop that you have placed. The crops each have their own characteristics for you to discover. Some take longer to grow but are worth more when harvested, and some do not need watering often. This career is one of the new starting careers and is quite strong as it allows you to take advantage of the outside area of the suburbs map early on. The farmer can also can also grow crops inside, for those of you who like the City map. When a crop is placed inside it is instead placed in a pot. Also included in this update is a cute pet that unlocks if you own Tiny Pasture on Steam. Check out the My Little Life/ Tiny Pasture bundle if you haven't already. Both can be played at the same time. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/3bd79fbe3e0028dd6f4b0d9aafd075ffd36d6d9b.gif Here are the patch notes: * New career (Farming) * 60+ new items * New Hidden secrets * 2 new achievements * New item filter for lights * New item filter for furniture with slots (like shelves and bookcases) * Fixes for some small & rare bugs * Updated Chinese language support for previously added items. * New pet for owners of Tiny Pasture In other news, we have sold over 37k copies in the first 26 days. Thanks so much for all your support. v1.0.9 - Valentines day itemsFeb 12, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, Back at it. Added a few items for valentines day. A present will drop at 9am in-game time and reward some valentines day items. These will only be claimable from now until the 19th, otherwise you will have to wait until next year. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/b35226232b66da8a7e42320f845926882fcd0f2c.gif * Balloon Heart * Red Wine * Roses Also fixed an issue that caused a secret (not the one you are thinking of) from happening under the wrong circumstances. What's changed since release * Logo appears in Chinese when the game is set to Chinese * Ambient sounds can now be turned down (counts as SFX) * Removed one of the annoying coin dropping sounds when earning currency. * Added Better tool tips for various buttons * Enabled item names for all languages (Needs localization texting on non-english langauges) * Added a tip to ensure player knows to click and drag zones (This contributed to most of the "My people stopped working" posts.) * Removed the "I see you" message as it seemed to occasionally appear to legit Steam user. * You can now right click to cancel zone placing. * You can now move items while props are placed on-top of them without having to move them off first. * Update UI to make it clearer how to place stairs properly * The bass guitar sound only playing from the left ear * The guitar Fulfillment task progression not save/loading. * Lots of Japanese font characters were missing when inputting custom names. * Zones 0 width or height can no longer be placed * Some issues with easel items causing the game to crash * Clock blocked on City Mode * Shelves that are already placed clipping ceilings can now be sold/moved. * Shelves can no longer be placed in the ceiling. (Or any item with slots can't be placed if their slots will extend into the next floor.) * The red workbench was awarding pottery skill instead of Cars. * Rare crash when characters would interact with career items * Some workshop items had prop slots, but the UI wouldn't show them * Previously placed Lunar new year posters should now be sellable/moveable * Fixed the forever ringing phone sound * Gifts can now be selected in vertical mode * language settings resetting when entering the game/loading a file. * keyboard sound not stopping when the iteration is interrupted * sleeping sound not stopping when the iteration is interrupted * Localization bugs on the choose a career menu. * Lunar new year poster not selling, and can be placed anywhere. * Lunar new year present respawning all the time, unlocking the same items and blocking other "gifts" from dropping. * Some Korean appearing while the game is in Chinese 1.0.7 - Infamous crash fixFeb 9, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, Just a quick one here. I finally fixed a crash that was plaguing a lot of people. It occurred when characters would interact with career items. If you couldn't play the game because it randomly decided to crash showing an error message like this: ########################## ERROR in action number 1 of Step Event1 for object par_character: REAL argument incorrect type undefined ########################## Then this should finally be fixed. Sorry for the delay. Love Ya'll, Stevie1.0.6aFeb 6, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsQuick little update because James was moaning at me. * Removed one of the annoying coin dropping sounds when earning currency. * Fixed the bass guitar only playing from the left ear * Fixed the guitar Fulfillment task progression not save/loading.v1.0.6 - Item names, Easel Crash, Tool TipsFeb 6, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello again, It's me back with your daily updates that must end soon before I collapse. I want to make sure you have the best experience possible, so I'm still focusing on game polish and bug fixing. I will make a new post at the end of the week that goes through all the changes in the first week, as spamming you with smaller updates might be a little annoying. Anyway, here's what new: * Added Better tool tips for various buttons * Enabled item names for all languages * Added a tip to ensure player knows to click and drag zones (This contributed to most of the "My people stopped working" posts.) * You can now right click to cancel zone placing. * Lots of Japanese font characters were missing when inputting custom names. * Zones 0 width or height can no longer be placed * Some issues with easel items causing the game to crash * Clock blocked on City Mode This update is pretty heavy on new text. Including the item names as well as the new tool tips. These have not been professionally translated yet. I thought it better to do the update now, then get the new text professionally localized in a future update rather than wait. Love ya'll.1.0.5 - Moving items with propsFeb 5, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsFinally, the most requested feature in the game! You can now move items while props are placed on-top of them without having to move them off first. (seems like an anticlimax but it was really requested a lot) Thanks for all your support, love y'all.v1.0.4 - FixesFeb 4, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! Thanks for all your support, we are approaching 20k units sold. That's a lot of little people to look after. I'm dropping in to fix some issues players are having. * Fixed - Shelves that are already placed clipping ceilings can now be sold/moved. * Fixed - Shelves can no longer be placed in the ceiling. (Or any item with slots can't be placed if their slots will extend into the next floor.) * Fixed - The red workbench was awarding pottery skill instead of Cars. * Fixed - Rare crash when characters would interact with career items * Fixed - Some workshop items had prop slots, but the UI wouldn't show them In this patch I also added names for all the items. This is currently only in the English localization. I'm waiting to get the the item names translated before doing it for all the other supported languages. I'm a solo developer and have pushed a new patch every day since release. Thank you so much for your support and patience. I'm really looking forward to adding more content. :)v1.0.3 - Quality of life, fixes.Feb 3, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! Coming in hot with another set of fixes/changes. If you are one of the people who's little people decided to stop collecting parcels, I downloaded a bunch of your save files (thanks if that's you who sent them) and the issue is usually caused by the stairs being placed incorrectly. In this patch added some UI to make it clearer where stairs need to be placed for them to work. (They basically need to be placed directly above/below eachother. Here's a gif of the new UI. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/795d8e7e82d24cf43e14223bde9ff6bfdb4b700f.gif As requested, I also made it so that replacing walls with different versions refund the original cost of the wall. This makes redecoration easier and less costly. While I was at it I also made it clearer in the UI how much it's costing. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44991069/e9409d3d21191209a33c308bfd6319ea6c38d007.gif Other fixes * Removed the "I see you" message as it seemed to occasionally appear to legit Steam users * Previously placed Lunar new year posters should now be sellable/moveable * Fixed the forever ringing phone sound * Gifts can now be selected in vertical mode Finally, Beta branch, That's a thing now. Going forward I'm going to stop pushing updates directly to the main version, and I created a Beta branch where they can be tested first. The beta branch is not password protected, but be careful. If you decide to use it then your save files are at risk. Thanks for all your support. -Steviev1.0.2 Fixes and Cloud savesFeb 2, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone, thanks so much for an amazing launch! I'm super happy everyone seems to be enjoying the game. I said I'd take a break over the weekend, but here I am fixing bugs. :D * The zone tab now unlocks automatically, in case you recruit a person before completing the relevant task to unlock it. * Added Cloud Saves * Bass guitar now ignores zone restrictions just like other instruments. * Fixed - language settings resetting when entering the game/loading a file. * Fixed - keyboard sound not stopping when the iteration is interrupted * Fixed - sleeping sound not stopping when the iteration is interrupted * Fixed - Localization bugs on the choose a career menu. * Fixed - Lunar new year poster not selling, and can be placed anywhere. * Fixed - Lunar new year present respawning all the time, unlocking the same items and blocking other "gifts" from dropping. In other news, we have over 10,000 sales in the 2 days since launch. This is amazing, I'm a mostly-solo indie developer so this means a huge amount to me. I'm looking into adding a new career along with relevant items. As well as a possible Mac version. I'll keep you posted! Love ya'll. -StevieThe Sims 4 has a rival in new life sim with a clever, small-scale hookFeb 1, 2025 - PCGamesNWith The Sims 4 now more than a decade old, it feels like there's certainly space for challengers in the life game space.
