Bormin couldn't fit his snout into the frame so let me wish everyone Happy Holidays from the rest of the crew including him. You should have joined this call, fellow Mutant lover. We had a blast (pun intended). I love me an apocalypse, much like the next mutant, but let's hope 2021 has fewer tendencies to be one, yeah? Yours truly, 🦆 {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32208559/4f898d7cf84498df193f9579718509cc5afe4c1b.jpgMutant Year Zero: Road to Eden Animated CG MovieAug 31, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsYour favorite mutated gang of misfits is working on getting their very own animated CG movie! Wouldn't you want Bormin, Dux, and Co to be the stars of another action-packed adventure, this time on the big screen? IGN has all the info right here. "The movie, which is being rendered using the Unreal Engine, is produced by Pathfinder and HaZ Films, and will be directed by Hasraf 'HaZ' Dulull, the indie filmmaker behind The Beyond and 2036: Origin Unknown. Experience Mutant Year Zero LiveFeb 26, 2020 - Community Announcements{STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/32208559/7207ca76b4d7eef095532ec33f2e2e9da3480476.jpg The post-apocalyptic world of Mutant, in which mutants, humans, and robots live blissfully deprived of peace and harmony, used to be virtually unknown beyond the borders of the curious and remarkable land of Sweden. But with the stories gathered and presented as a tabletop RPG in the early 80s, the legend grew and even found its way to Germany (this is probably due to an increasing number of Northerners going on pilgrimage to an ancient religious tradition known as Oktoberfest). By the time Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden released in 2018, the Swedes knew there was no point in keeping it a secret anymore. Instead, they now choose to embrace the stories which have helped shape young Swedelings into grown men over the course of generations. So much so, that this year, you can even experience what living alongside mutants and robots actually entails. Over the course of four days in June, as well as in August and September, the first-ever Mutant: Year Zero live-action roleplaying event will be hosted on an island near Stockholm. And judging by the images the organizers have provided for us, the backdrop is just perfect. According to a press release, you can choose between creating your own character or opting for a premade one. You then get to put together your survival gear and costume, before being transported to the island for drama workshops – and action. “Immersive roleplaying is like playing cops and robbers, but for grownups. Or like being inside a computer game or TV show. You sneak, argue and dive for cans of food for “real” instead of watching a screen or pressing buttons. It’s a great way to get a total break from our strange “normal” reality and build a new world together for three-four days,” says The Ark’s veteran games and participation- designer, Martin Ericsson in the press release. The Mutant Live Roleplaying Event is organized by Skärgårdszonen AB, in association with Kulturbryggan, Fria Ligan, The Cabinet Group, and Dividend Industries. A new hotfix has rolled out for the Steam version of Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden. This update will be rolled out to the other stores at a later point. Patch notes are listed below: --- Changelog Critical Fixes: Fix for chest opening crash experienced by some users. Fixed crashes that can occur with fungus spores and fire. Fixed potential softlock when hiding all three crew members. Numbers now appear correctly for machines with Arabic regional settings. Fixed rare throw crash. Bug Fixes "Tough Nut" Achievement is unlocked by finishing Iron Mutant Mode in any difficulty. Bot is now force started if less than 2 enemies alive in the barn squad. This is to allow the pickup of the "El Generator" artifact. Fixed erroneous savegame prompt when pausing during cutscenes. Fixed some super rare crashes related to mouse control. Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year Zero are free on the Epic Games StoreAug 16, 2019 - PC GamerThe Epic Games Store is doing its last double freebie this week, at least for now, giving everyone a copy of Hyper Light Drifter, the tricky pixel RPG, and the turn-based tactics game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden.  I've only ever admired Hyper Light Drifter from a distance, because it looks like the sort of thing where my lack of dexterity will only ensure a plenitude of deaths and a lot of frustration. It sure looks pretty, though! Mutant Year Zero is more my speed. It's a bit like XCOM, but with even more RPG nods and a whole exploration layer. The titular mutants also include a cynical duck with a top hat. There's a fair amount of sneaking, as you'll usually be outnumbered, and there are typically lots of opportunities to set up ambushes in real-time before you dive into the turn-based shootouts.  Like a lot of interesting games that have come out over the last year, I've only had time to skim the surface, but Alex Wiltshire had a lot of good things to say about it in his Mutant Year Zero review. It only appeared last December, so getting it for free now is an absolute steal.  They'll both be free to keep if you grab them by August 22, when they'll be replaced by classic dimension-hopping platformer, Fez. Mutant Year Zero Patch Notes ( 14.08.2019 )Aug 14, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsHello Stalkers! Fix for “characters falling from the second floor makes them land below ground rendering affected enemies untargetable”. Bug Fixes Fix for difficulty selection bug when overwriting savegames. Fixed a bug with medbot in Pripp mission which could vanish after reloading. Control pad/keyboard selection bug fixed. Fix for Big Khan being able to damage himself with his own flame puke attack and the attack not hitting the full grid. Thank you for all the issues reported and feedback shared so far!Your next free games on the Epic Store are Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year ZeroAug 8, 2019 - EurogamerShould your increasingly insurmountable library of video game freebies still not quite be tottering enough for your liking, Epic has revealed that Hyper Light Drifter and Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden will be available for nowt on its store next week. For those that need an introduction, Hyper Light Drifter is the work of developer Heart Machine, and originally launched on PC back in 2016. It's an utterly triumphant top-down slasher that mixes evocative exploration and puzzling with tough, evasion-based combat. All of which unfolds across an enigmatic, beautifully crafted world that's ripe with mysteries and and secrets for the curious adventurer to discover. It impressed Eurogamer's Christian Donlan enough for him to whip out his pulsating Recommended stamp when it passed across his desk for review in 2016. Explore new maps and defeat the new plant based Pod Ghouls, who will attack you with mutations of their own. As you explore you’ll also find new weapons and armor, which will be of great help to you. A new Stalker enters the fray: Big Khan the moose is a legendary Stalker who left the Ark years ago for unknown reasons. He teams up with Bormin, Dux, and the rest of the team to fight the new threat and keep the Ark safe. Khan’s size and strength make him an excellent fighter, capable of landing highly damaging critical hits against enemies. New mutations: We’re introducing a brand new mechanic in Seed of Evil that lets you upgrade certain existing mutations. Bormin’s Hug Rosh can become a mighty Bear Smash, with increased power, while Selma’s Tree Hugger can become a Tree Caster ability, which can temporarily turn enemies into cover for you to hide behind. Retake lost territory: Zone Ghouls, bots and other horrors are encroaching on places you’ve already cleared out in Road to Eden. This time around they’re stronger than ever and your Stalkers are tasked by the Ark with clearing them out. Seed of Evil adds a new story campaign to last year’s Fantastic Mr. Fox-meets-XCOM adventure, and introduces a new mutant named Big Khan, a tough-as-nails moose with his own special abilities and synergies. The expansion’s story is centered on a new menace in the Zone, and takes a cue or two from Invasion of the Bodysnatchers. A malevolent plant seems to be abducting people—friends and enemies alike—and replacing them with twisted copies made of plant tissue. Big Khan calls them “pod ghouls,” and he doesn’t seem to like them much. Fortunately, one of the mutations Big Khan has available to him is called “flame puke,” and it does exactly what it sounds like it does: He spews a jet of fire over a wide area, setting anything organic alight. Seed of Evil comes out July 30 alongside the Nintendo Switch launch of Mutant Year Zero.
