We've been hard at work addressing your feedback, and we're pleased to announce the release of Hotfix #4. This update brings another round of important fixes and some exciting new additions. Take a look at what we've packed into this release: Release Notes for Hotfix #4 Fixed several instances where joining the old world would result in a black screen. Note: After investigation, we discovered this occurred when players took damage from AI or other objects while loading in, causing them to die during the loading screen. Players can no longer take damage until loading is complete. Added 2 new weapons and 20+ ship decorations to discover in the Outskirts region. Design pass on all chest loot drops, which should result in more consistent rewards and a more even spread of ship parts, components, and resources. Optimisation pass on AI bindings - potential performance boost for when there's a lot of AI enemies around. Another round of audio optimisation. Fixed several instances where the world wouldn't save correctly, resulting in progress loss. Note: If issues occur when saving the world, the save data will now roll back to the last "safe" state automatically. This issue is quite sporadic. If the problem arises we would love to hear more about it. Please report the issue on Discord. Fixed an issue where some schematics didn't level up correctly. Fixed an issue where shotguns didn't level up correctly. Here's what's included in Hotfix #3: Fixes & Improvements Resolved excessive camera shake (toggle to disable coming in a future update) Fixed weapon recoil and FOV issues Increased maximum mouse sensitivity Resolved freezing caused by buffs/debuffs Fixed ship and storage loss on reconstruction Note: Storage can now only be placed while docked at a shipyard Known Issue: On reconstructed ships, only the host can see stored items. Hosts can drop items for other players to pick up. We're working on a proper fix. What a week it's been! We're delighted and humbled by how many of you have already joined us on the Lost Skies journey. We've been working hard on the second EA hotfix, which fixes a whole bunch of issues you've been reporting. Here are the release notes: Fixed an issue with disconnects causing ships to disappear (keeping an eye on this issue, please report any ship disappearances if it still happens to you!) Fixed an issue with the first shipyard upgrade not increasing the amount of available blocks Fixed screen stuttering when moving the camera Steam rooms should now appear correctly (public and friends-only) Fixed an issue when a player failing to join a world would disconnect everyone Fixed 2 island desync issues when travelling between different islands Respawn timer reduced to 5 seconds Potential fix for "Journey begins" quest not triggering when you travel in certain directions Potential fix for islands and resources not spawning correctly, until you travel to a different island Fixed an issue with deathbags duplicating after they've already been collected after a reload Fixed an issue where ships sometimes didn't align with scaffolding correctly, causing Gizmo to be nonfunctional when you edit the ship shape Adjusted some player guide quest descriptions Fixed uncommon aluminium not being craftable Multiple fixes for keybindings. The remaining keybinding issues we'd like to tackle: - Allow players to rebind WASD individually - Implement a full list of UI Prompts for all the possible keys - Continue looking into grappling hook binding reports Fixed an issue where lower level weapons had their damage reduced too much against higher level AI Improved placement of some ship decorations Dynamic strings in localised languages should now appear correctly We're also looking into: Excessive screen shake in certain scenarios with low FPS (the plan is to add an option to switch it off or adjust via settings) as well as other known issues we shared earlier in the week. We recommend verifying game files on Steam before playing the new update. It's been amazing (and a bit scary) to have so many of you check out Lost Skies so far - we're constantly reading your feedback, reviews and now to rolling out the first hotfix for the issues. (Please restart Steam to trigger the update) Removed collision damage on ship parts. This should help with the issues where ships turn into ship wrecks on reload or appear damaged. We're keeping an eye on all issues with ship spawning/saving. Side note: please don't leave your ship parked over cut tree stumps, as they'll grow back and push your ship out ːsteamhappyː Fixed datapads not displaying text panels unless PRISM is selected. Fixed UI/toolbar not reappearing properly if you close datapads with E. Fixed Worlds Adrift Legacy Pack schematics teaching the wrong schematics. Added some stone scattering to plains to avoid a potential soft-lock if you're stranded on an island with no ship and can't build a furnace. Based on your feedback, here are the things currently on our radar as highest priority for next hotfixes (the list will be evolving as we learn more and is not exhaustive but hopefully helps to see the scope of upcoming changes): Keybinding issues Shipwrecks don't show on the compass Screenshake can be too excessive "Someone else is using this" message appears for a few seconds when opening the datapad First shipyard upgrade does not increase the number of blocks (but the following upgrades do) Public/friends rooms are not always showing in the server list (please join your Steam friends' games directly through Steam for now) Storage content can be duplicated (it shouldn't disappear anymore, as ships won't be easily destroyed on reload) Players can spawn inside the Ark and die, then permanently spawn from there in future If someone quits whilst on the helm, the helm will remain un-interactable for other players because it's still counted as in use Max mouse sensitivity is too low Important! We're still looking for more info about these highest priority issues: Any crashes - player logs are incredibly helpful to dig into the cause, please submit via Discord - Any freezes - We would also ask for logs and/or videos, please! But Lost Skies isn't about cashing in early, it's very much a passion project that we care deeply about and we're using Early Access to continue building the game we love with our community just like we have through Open Dev. The funds from Early Access go straight back into development, helping us expand the world, add new features and deliver a polished 1.0 experience. It's a long-term investment, not a shortcut. What can I expect in the Early Access version? You'll explore the first region of the world - The Outskirts, featuring Bossa and community-made islands, multiple enemy types, puzzles, and the first Herald boss. You'll also be able to build and upgrade your own skyship for solo or co-op play. The core adventure loop of exploration, crafting & upgrading is fully playable from day one. You can play with friends and even make new ones well before full launch. How often will the game be updated during Early Access? We plan to deliver regular content updates, bug fixes and quality of life improvements throughout Early Access. Updates will be guided by community feedback. We've been hard at work today making some changes that we hope will improve your experience based directly on the feedback we have received from the Lost Skies community. Here's what's happened: Demo Timer Removed: We've taken out the demo timer from all sessions. :celebrate: Friends-Only Lobby Fixed: Setting player lobbies to "friends only" will now appear correctly in the Join World list. Friend Invites Sorted: Inviting friends from your Steam friends or joining from friends now works correctly (you need to make a character first). Quest Resource Reduction: The first quest now needs fewer resources, making it easier and quicker to get started. Player Guide Update: Removed the Player Guide requirement to scan a 2nd databank to avoid a potential soft lock. Non-Latin Symbols Issue Resolved: The game now loads correctly even if PC or network names contain non-Latin symbols. (We're still investigating the saving issues for these cases.) Language Fallback Update: If your system language is set to Korean or Russian (which aren't part of the demo), the game now falls back to English instead of showing missing text. Host Disconnect Fixed: We've resolved an occasional issue where the host would disconnect when a client left the session. Scrap Armor Set – This will be a low-tier outfit crafted throughout your adventure on the tutorial island, rather than something you find in chests. If you look closely, you might spot some familiar props hidden within the design! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/44126584/0088e1da109251891bca5f9272365b315311e64f.png Ark Updates 🚀 John has been making steady progress on the Ark, one of the largest structures in the game. The exterior is nearly complete, and the revival pods inside are the final pieces being fine-tuned. Once finished, the Ark will play a critical role in your journey. UI Overhaul 🎨 Ellen has been leading a major UI overhaul, including a font and size pass across all screens. The goal? Better readability, cleaner visuals, and a UI that seamlessly integrates with the rest of the game’s aesthetic.
