We felt the game could use a little bit of work and that the old menu has become rather outdated - Hope you enjoy :) -Completely reworked the main menu as well as adding better support for 2K and 4K monitors -Added daily rewards which can be earned by playing and winning (50 Gems and 50 DG) -Reduced memory and filesizes of several large textures -Fixed an issue with 2 Anti-alias systems being used at the same time -Added new Contec Games Logo Video -Fixed CPU issues in the main menu for high-end machines (VSync was having a hard time limiting your FPS lol)The Campaign is now fully voice acted!May 15, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHello all, In this update the campaign has been the primary focus, we felt for a while it was a bit rough around the edges so it was time to touch it up a bit :) -Added voice over to the tutorial (technically this was done in a previous un-announced patch) -Fixed some typos in the tutorial -Added voice acting to all the campaign cutscenes -Added new unit lines for the Main character, Boba & Tobias -Refined the intro for chapter 1 -Changed the skybox in chapter 1 -Fixed the objective in chapter 1 -Fixed the animated portrait of the main character in chapter 4 -In Chapter 3 all the enemy bots are now correctly on the same team -The over all difficulty of chapter 3 has been increased -Decreased the victory objective in chapter 3 from 26 to 21 minutes. -Bots will now correctly use their starting units in Chapter 3 -Fixed some invisible units in Chapter 3 -Increased brightness in Transylvania -Added and updated some loading frame portraits (credit to FylkirValdr) -Increased the volume of the Victory and Defeat music -Attempted a fix for a few players not able to play multiplayer All content is now available for everyone!Feb 17, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone, Before going forward and explaining what we've got for you this time around, we want to explain the thought process behind it. A while ago we made the game "semi" "free to play", by opening up the matchmaking to everyone, but having the campaign, map editor and custom games locked behind the definitive edition. It seemed to confuse players more than it did good, and at the same time we really just want people to enjoy what we've created more than earning a bit extra. So the definitive edition has been retired and from this day all content is now available to everyone! With this decision we of course didn't want to make the people that supported us and bought the definitive edition (you got this if you bought the original game once it was pay to play as well) to feel cheated. So we brainstormed a bit, and believe we came up with a very good solution! With this completely free to play approach we have added a new currency called "gems", which can be used to unlock different cosmetics and skins. But owners of the Definitive Edition will be able to earn these gems purely by playing at the same rate as they previously earned Dimensional Gold. So in a nutshell if you've previously supported us by buying the game, you never have to spend anything again. When we started King of the World some of you might remember we used the P2P Networking using the now deprecated UNET. It turned out that just wasn't suited for RTS games, and we were never really satisfied with units often being desynced which we feel ruined the experience. So we decided it was time to just start from fresh and redo all the networking, to build up a good base going forward. At the time we obviously didn't know it would pretty much mean redoing the whole game all over, as a ton of things just broke both due to the networking but also updating the engine. This is something we have considered for some time and we felt now the game is in a good state and we want more people to enjoy what we've spent 2½ years developing. It is no secret the game never achieved a large enough audience to reach even close to the potential we feel the multiplayer has, hopefully going free to play will bring in that audience. We also want to thank everyone that has supported and bought the game through these years, and we don't feel it would be fair if free players gained access to everything the people that paid for it has. So here's how we're going to do it: The base game will become free, and we're going to release a DLC named "Definitive Edition" which will have the same pricing and feature all the current content we're having now. The Free-to-play will feature the following: Unlimited access to the Matchmaking Will be able to join custom games Will be able to gain DG (Dimensional Gold) to unlock skins etc. The Definitive Edition will feature the following: Singleplayer Campaign Hosting of custom games Map Editor Higher DG rewards (Same as now, Free-to-play will be lowered) All owners of the game before it becomes free will be gifted the Definitive Edition.
