Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale

1.9.3May 24, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsPerformance test update.1.9.2May 23, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsRestored missing water volumes and some other missing map actors. Turned brightness up another notch. Simplified the map setup a bit more which may improve some pop in issues (some framerate degradation during the drop is possible though). Disabled new movement physics during the drop.1.9.1May 22, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsFixed a major issue with friction not being applied on the ground when accelerating above max speed. This made the movement update pretty ridiculous, whoops... Now it should be working as intended. Fixed drop in strafing physics. Vault jump only triggers when facing the wall you are touching and reduced the jump boost multiplier from 50% to 25%. This is still just a placeholder and will be refined further over time. Fixed broken drop suit skins. Updated shield glow effect to be more fresnel/outline based. Gun Game now starts with a knife. I have different plans for the prequeue, this is just a temporary workaround for the spawn chaos. Slightly brighter and more colourful map lighting. Increased hardcoded in-game max FPS to 250 (until it becomes configurable). Increased streaming distance on some sublevels. Need to watch out for performance issues.Still AliveMay 10, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsThis update disables various third party services to restore basic functionality and currently allows players to connect to a test server in the US East region. It also rolls back or adjusts most changes from the last update and includes various UI and gameplay tweaks. Please note that the game is currently disabled on Steam and only accessible to those who already had the game in their library before it was disabled. We are working on getting it fully restored as soon as we are ready for it. This is just the beginning, if you would like to ask questions, stay up to date on our road to recovery, or find out when people are playing, please join us on our Discord server. See you in the dome, player!Islands of Nyne, the Early Access battle royale FPS, has ceased developmentDec 19, 2018 - PC GamerFast-paced, 50-player battle royale shooter Islands of Nyne has ceased development, only five months after launching into Early Access. In a message posted to the game's Steam community, a spokesperson for studio Define Human confirmed that while the game will no longer be updated, it will transition to free-to-play and servers will be maintained for the foreseeable future. "Unfortunately, all adventures come to an end, and for us, that time has come a little earlier than we would’ve liked," part of the message reads. "The reality now is we are no longer able to financially support development costs despite our efforts to turn things around with our latest update and pricedrop." Anyone who purchased either the game or skins after November 29 is entitled to refunds via Steam. There will be one more update to the game, which will add a credits screen in the game's menu thanking all contributors and backers. Additionally, the studio is "exploring server hosting solutions" so that players can host custom matches. "In closing," the statement reads, "I want to sincerely thank all those who left a positive impact on our lives- our devoted playtesters, our content creator community that streamed countless hours of IoN, the players who left us constructive feedback, and any team-member’s significant other who had to deal with me telling their loved one to get back to work. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us and we hope you look back on your Islands of Nyne experience as one of excitement and fun." Chris gave Islands of Nyne a spin when it launched in July, making mention of game's unusually fast pace. A full FAQ regarding the game's status can be found here. Islands Of Nyne: Battle Royale ends development, becomes freeDec 19, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunThe ferocious battle royale that is the genre itself claims yet another – futuristic last-man-standing shooter Islands Of Nyne is ending production after just a few months in early access. In a sad statement on Steam, developers Define Human Studios say they just can’t afford to continue and are pulling the plug on production, but keeping the servers online for the immediate future. The game is now free, and the developers are looking into allowing players to host their own servers once the official servers shut down. After much deliberation and with heavy hearts, we have decided to wind down the studio and end live development and updates on Islands of Nyne: Battle Royale. Four years ago Jake and I said goodbye to our cozy 9-5 jobs, pooled our savings together, and embarked on a journey so remarkable neither of us could’ve imagined just how ambitious it would end up becoming. Not only did we get to fully realize our dream of developing a game that we wanted to play, but we were also fortunate enough to see the growth and cultivation of so many talented individuals - a reality which would never have been possible without the passion and support of so many inspiring fans. Unfortunately, all adventures come to an end, and for us, that time has come a little earlier than we would’ve liked. The reality now is we are no longer able to financially support development costs despite our efforts to turn things around with our latest update and pricedrop. However, If there was a silver lining to be had here it would be that as of 12pm PST today Islands of Nyne will become f2p and servers will continue to stay up for the foreseeable future. In addition, for those of you who purchased Islands of Nyne or any skins from the in-game item store from November 29th, 2018 through today, we have notified Valve to approve any refund requests for those purchases regardless of time spent in game. We will be releasing one more update which will include a credits screen in the main menu thanking all those who contributed to the creation of Islands of Nyne in addition to those who backed the project during our various crowdfunding campaigns. We are also exploring server hosting solutions which would allow players to host custom matches without our direct involvement. We would like Islands of Nyne to always be playable regardless of the lack of updates, so please bear with us while we fully explore our options on how to best achieve this. In closing, I want to sincerely thank all those who left a positive impact on our lives- our devoted playtesters, our content creator community that streamed countless hours of IoN, the players who left us constructive feedback, and any team-member’s significant other who had to deal with me telling their loved one to get back to work. Thank you for being a part of this journey with us and we hope you look back on your Islands of Nyne experience as one of excitement and fun. -Define Human team FAQ Is Islands of Nyne being removed from Steam? I’m sure a lot of you will be happy to hear that we’ve finally patched up the infamous “P90 reload bug” which actually wasn’t such an easy fix as we uncovered a few other issues with ammo and reload handling along the way. After going through several iterations, the system is now far more reliable. In addition to that fix, the issue concerning jump pad audio and the inability to hear other players using them has been resolved. This fix ended up being a bit more involved than we thought, so patching this one up is a great relief. We’ve also made some welcome adjustments to plasma stage and prequeue times. While it’s never a good thing when lobbies don’t fill up completely, this has given us the chance to make some improvements that specifically affect games with small lobby sizes. We’ve made a number of tweaks to the prequeue which should result in matches starting faster and requiring fewer players. These are just quick fixes ahead of more significant prequeue improvements that are in the works. We’ve also tweaked the dynamic circle system to move much faster when few players are alive, especially when a match starts with a small number of players already. Finally, now that we’ve patched up some of the more critical bugs on our list, we can shift more of our focus towards the substantial improvements and juicier features on our roadmap. We’re busy putting the finishing touches on our design specs for them and will be rolling out a dev blog going over some of them in more detail in the next few days. Stay tuned! Bug Fixes Fixed gamesparks error showing for new players without a loadout Fixed jump pad 3p audio! YAY! Fixed reload bug. Fixed being able to trade after getting downed. (Still rare chance it could happen if using a pistol). Fixed not being able to bind the DELETE key. Level Design Fixed fort misplaced building Gameplay & Misc Improved voip audio (*NOTE* Might want to turn down your voip audio settings) Reduced drone HP. Shortened prequeue timer and reduced minimum number of players for timer to start, from 15 to 10. Tweaked plasma field timings and safe zones for lower player numbers. Reloading while aiming now applies hipfire sensitivity while the view is zoomed out.Early Access and BeyondAug 22, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsRead up on our roadmap for the near and far future of IoN! https://forums.islandsofnyne.com/t/early-access-and-beyond/8844Early Access Patch notes - 1.3Aug 11, 2018 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32660826/0c53875e626e0d008d35244b0b2dfcaa0291925c.jpg Hey everyone! We’ve rolled out another batch of fixes that should address some of those fun edge-case bugs such as your character getting stuck or involuntarily turning into a suicide bomber when swapping from a primed nade. We’ve also added in some QOL improvements such as making the console key (~) toggleable and keeping your mouse locked to the game window when in window or borderless mode (this one was annoying, we know). Voip is back and I should also mention that we’ll be rolling out another small patch sometime soon which fixes the p90 reload ammo bug and disables kill trading. Having said that, after the incredible amount of pressure and time constraints this team has been under for the last few months prepping for EA (welcome to game development!) we are finally able to take a step back, re-assess how we can improve studio operations from a macro-level, and most importantly, address some of the core gameplay issues we’ve been tracking based on your feedback and our own experiences. We have a direction, we have tangible goals, and we will be working hard on reaching them. Please know that these things don’t just take a couple of weeks to fix and your patience will be required here. I’ll be posting more about these issues in addition to a roadmap of sorts in the coming days. Just know that we’re incredibly excited about what’s to come! Bug Fixes Fixed several collision issues around the map that would get players stuck Fixed a bug where people could use a jumppad to get on top of the ancient forest trees and sit on them Fixed unequipped primed grenades blowing up in your face Fixed not being able to jump though a few windows in Mansion Fixed attachments dropping when picking up an attachable one in the event that all attachment slots are full Fixed double key binding for squad voip default ‘Y’ key Fixed right click ‘spectate next player’ action not working Level Design Added more loot spawns to Monument, Crater, Colloseum, Hill Ruins, and Garden locations Expanded the Garden location Gameplay & Misc Re-enabled VOIP (!) (NOTICE: any racism or abusive language will result in a ban) Tweaked rank thresholds for a more even spread Added new items M9a1 | Nebula Meltdown and M1014 | Biohazard to the item store, replacing the expired ones Greatly improved server performance right when players land at start of match. (occasionally players wouldn’t be able to pick up items for 10-30 seconds) Added more final safe zone possibilities Added a setting to enable/disable the console key (default ~ key) In-game interfaces now keep the mouse locked to the game window Added Indoor sound volumes to Rome buildings Added “Gamesparks unable to connect” message Reduced announcer and drop-in music volume Premature Evaluation Islands of Nyne: Battle RoyaleJul 31, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunPremature Evaluation is the weekly column in which we explore the wilds of early access. The third-person, messy battle royales that are sprouting up everywhere leave a lot of room for luck and second chances, but Islands of Nyne is all about precision, speed and being shot in the head by a Twitch streamer. With Islands of Nyne having been out on Early Access for a little more than a week we’re trying our hardest to address any bugs, big or small, that are impacting your gameplay experience. Our PR team, volunteer testers, QA team, and us Devs are in the trenches pulling as much feedback and player reports as possible and addressing them as quick as we humanly can. For the most part, this patch should stitch up some of the more obvious issues that we’ve seen around the Dome. There are still some rare edge case bugs out there that we’re currently investigating, but rest assured we’ll be killing those off soon enough. In addition to balance tweaks, optimizations, and bug fixes, we’ll also be rolling out more content over the next few weeks. With that in mind, we’ll be working on getting an experimental test server up and running that allows anyone to jump in and offer feedback on any new features or changes that are currently in a WIP state. I for one am definitely excited to get that going. Many of you have also been asking when we’ll start to support and grow ION’s competitive scene. The potential is IMMENSE and we know it! It’s what we’ve been shaping this game around since day 1. However, before we get our private servers and 3rd party matchmaking setup we want to first make sure the game is completely stable and devoid of any hiccups or exploits that could heavily impact competitive play. We don’t have a timetable on when that will be, but we will be closely monitoring gameplay and exploit/bug reports to gauge when ION is in an acceptable state for competitive play. Please also be aware that we’re still investigating an issue where servers can hang for a short period of time directly after dropping in. It’s at the top of our list! Bug Fixes Fixed helmet not providing HUD enhancements Fixed not being able to sprint after switching weapons when using toggle aim Fixed disconnect while spamming slow blood loss when being revived Fixed downed (but not out) players not counting as kills on victory Fixed knife material issues on Cauterize skin Fixed equipped skins still equipped on character in-game even after they've been sold or scrapped Added refresh button to item inventory Exploit Fixes Fixed exploit where a user could cancel the drop in animation Fixed exploit where a user could cancel long fall animation Fixed a possible exploit with the ranking system Economy Added incremental crate pricing with a weekly limit to prevent market saturation of items and to increase their value. Balance Tweaked safezone deltas to reduce situations in which it becomes hard to outrun the plasma field Early Access Patch Notes - Hotfix 1.1Jul 17, 2018 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/32660826/8a2a7491490d9254c7a68ae19e0c016909c3fa01.png UPDATE #2: The patch is now live and has been renamed to Hotfix 1.1. Performance has not only been stabilized but improved after finding and patching an issue with the inventory player model that was causing a persistent drop in framerate after being opened the first time in a match. It has since been removed from the in-game inventory for the time being. Additional changes we've made are: Removed framerate cap from Main Menu _______________________________________________________________________________ UPDATE: We have reverted back to 1.0.9556 (previous version) due to reports of unstable performance. We are investigating and will update to 1.0.9685 once we believe any performance issues have been resolved. _______________________________________________________________________________ Hey everyone, With the release of Islands of Nyne finally out on Steam Early Access we’ve been trying our best to address any major and minor hiccups reported by our amazing community. It’s been quite a roller-coaster of emotions for the team, our spirits are high and we’re absolutely loving the content you guys have been putting out so far in addition to the general reception of the game by the public. Playercount is healthy and stable, our matchmaker issues should be smoothed over and you should be getting into full games immediately. Battleye has been doing some great work for us as well, always-vigilant, and unrelenting when it comes to cheaters (and this patch should address a lot of the modified ini. file hacks we’ve been seeing). The future is looking bright for The Dome and we’ve got plenty more in store for you over the coming weeks. We’re not going anywhere. You guys have always been and will always be the fuel behind the game, and we’re extremely excited to continue to evolve ION into something we can all continue be proud to stand behind and support. With that said, lets get into these patchnotes shall we? General Fixed game launching into borderless mode when displaying Fullscreen in settings Locked out ini settings that were being exploited Fixed squad members receiving 0 placement score if they died before the squad is out of the game Fixed an issue with the dynamic circle system that could lead to slower-than-intended match pace in some situations Enforced min engine settings to prevent exploits like shooting through buildings Added a Vsync option in settings Set max framerate in main menu to 60 to take some load off GPU while idling Escape now closes the inventory when inventory is toggled Waiting times for full lobbies in prequeue are reduced Nano meds will now always be consumed Drones have smaller collision boxes to avoid creating an invisible wall when shot down Damage points are now aligned with actual amount of damage dealt. In exchange, points for kills have been lowered a bit Map Fixed getting stuck in Ancient Forest Tr...
