House On The Hill

Hotfix 05/24/22May 24, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHey! After the last update, we started receiving reports that some players are unable to log into the game due to missing buttons in the main menu. It turns out that during the update, the fonts that support the Chinese language were corrupted. Without them, messages in Chinese were not displayed, which means that the buttons were not displayed either. We've fixed this issue and Chinese players should now see all of the UI again. Sincerely, Team SteppeHareFix of the launch issueApr 15, 2022 - Community AnnouncementsHello! We know that some of our players have been experiencing problems launching the game. Unfortunately, we could not determine its source until we collected enough information. Now we have managed to find out the most common source of the problem. It turned out that some modern processors stopped supporting older versions of the Unreal Engine on which our game were based on. We ported Mists of Aiden to the new version of Unreal Engine, which should fix most of the launch issues. We hope this will help you! Sincerely, Team Steppe HareOur new game Prognostic is available in Early AccessOct 27, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsOur team has been working on Prognostic for over a year and now you can finally play it. In this mystical horror, you will be able to solve crimes through communication with spirits. Every evening you will be sent a new case, which you can solve with the help of ancient rites (such as Tarot, dowsing, runes and others). Various fortune-telling rituals give their own clues, so you determine the course of the investigation. But remember — contact with spirits may draw some unwanted attention. In the full version of our game, we have expanded one of the chapters that were taking place on the second floor. This led to a change to one of the puzzles, which some players considered a bug. To emphasize this change, we decided to make one of the pictures a hint to it's solution. The new painting will replace the one in the bedroom. That's all! Bye!Hotfix 01/26/2021Jan 27, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi! One of the players recently have found a new bug and told us about it. It turns out that you could walk through the walls of one of the bedrooms on the second floor. We've added a small hotfix to solve this issue and now it's gone. Please, email us if you have any problems with a game and we will try to make it better. Thank you for your help!"Mists of Aiden" and Why We've Changed the TitleJan 16, 2021 - Community AnnouncementsHi! A couple of days ago, we received an email that made our entire team very anxious. It was letter from Hasbro. They accused us in infringement of their trademark — board-game "BETRAYAL AT HOUSE ON THE HILL". This was shock to us. Our games are completely different: we have different plot, different gameplay and even different themes. It is a very difficult for somebody to mix up our games, especially considering their have a different format and different titles. Unfortunately, we are a very small development team (SteppeHare consists of three people), and we do not have enough finances to prove ourselves through court. We want to make sure that you will be able to play our game in the future, and because of that we decided to change its title. This change will not affect gameplay or the ability to play our game through Steam in any way. The change of the title — is the only change in the game. And it seems to us that we've chosen a worthy replacement. Thank you for your support! Best Regards, SteppeHare Studio.Official release and Steam Trading cards!Nov 10, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsHi! We are happy to announce that final vesion of House on the Hill is already here! Thank you for all your support! Your emails, comments and other feedback helped us to make House on the Hill so much better. For example, many parts of today's update were made based on your suggestions. That’s not all, though. We've also added Steam Trading Cards, emojis and backgrounds. Here's what you will find in today's big update: New scenes that will expand the ghostly route. They will allow you to better understand what happened inside the mansion... at least in this version of events. New elements and objects in the final part of the game that will form new connections with the rest of the story. Steam Trading Cards, emoticons and backgrounds! Several improved scenes and visual effects. New sounds in the underground areas of the mansion. Improvements in the quality of the English text. Several new intense moments that will make House on the Hill even more terrifying. Bug fixes and many other improvements! Enjoy! And thank you for supporting us all this time! Big Update: Gamepad Support, Performance Upgrade and other changes!Sep 9, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsIn this update we've decided to focus on your most often suggestions: performance upgrades and changes in control scheme. We've optimized multiple elements of the game and significantly expanded the control options — all of it is to ensure that playing House on the Hill will be as pleasant an experience as possible. Here's what awaits you in this update: Performance improvement: Locations of the game have been divided into smaller segments to make their loading smoother and less noticeable during play-through. We've added the ability to completely disable Post-Process and Anti-Aliasing in the Settings menu in order to increase performance on slow computers. Lights, materials and textures have been examined and reworked to increase performance without sacrifices in image quality. This reduced the workload on a video-card and also decreased overall game size from 10.5 GB to 8 GB. New Control Options: Let's start with the main thing right away: Now you can play House on the Hill on a gamepad! Now you can change the key bindings in the Controls section of the Menu. You can freely change both the keyboard and the gamepad controls. The Default button has been added to the Settings section in case you are not sure about your changes. Text Quality Improvements: Our new friend, Dan Weatherer, has been helping us a lot with our English version of the game. Because of him many notes and descriptions now sound much more natural than before. Apart from that, we also worked on many small bugs and issues. Here's just a few of them. Other changes: There were difficulties in taking a picture of the last door on the second floor. Fixed. Some street elements overlapped with each other. Fixed. The appearance of the several items has been fixed: calendar, tablets, powder and others. A bug where you could see emptiness behind the door on the second floor has been removed. We've added an additional checkpoint in the final part of the game, right before your choice. Fixed a bug when a mannequin appeared, his hand could pass through the wall. Broken plates will no longer teleport into a sad, desolate oblivion of a porcelain afterlife. They will stay on the floor. In some cases the door of the office on the first floor could stay open during a cutscene. In that case the player was able to see a spawn of the enemy. Fixed. We also added many other minor improvements and fixes. Meet the actors!Aug 22, 2020 - Community AnnouncementsToday we want to tell you about those who worked with us on House on the Hill.
