Example shot below: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/faa6ddeefe9b7034d5aaa8792b74cbb332fa4c1e.jpgLocation Deep Dive: St Anton!May 30, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsSet in the Austrian Alps, the St. Anton map location offers a unique challenge, stepping away from our previous urban and coastal settings in Gothenburg and Santorini. Here, you must design and manage a hotel that caters to winter sports enthusiasts and luxury seekers alike! So what is different in St Anton? Ski Rentals In St. Anton, providing ski equipment is essential. Guests expect convenient access to rentals, after all, that’s what they’re here for! Make sure they can rent their skiing equipment so they can head out on the slopes behind your hotel. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/bc7af2289f471c8e073308be4103a739dfb5ecb2.png Mastering Temperature Management The alpine environment introduces new challenges in maintaining the perfect indoor temperatures. You need to make sure the place is warm enough but not too hot, so radiators are key! Neglecting this aspect can lead to decreased guest satisfaction, negative reviews and even a very ice-y death! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/82fb767bfe4b37dac35d62422e98a2a9ca56f1d7.png Introducing Saunas: A New Zone! St. Anton is the first map where you can unlock and build saunas. These facilities not only boost the hotel's rating but also cater to guests seeking relaxation after a day on the slopes. The question is, will you go down the route of having the full works with a spa or just a small sauna as a practical zone? {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/acca8e0b1d3a48d7e4f27a753f37bf6ecf77a72e.png Hot Tips for Success in St. Anton Invest in Heating: Just like in Santorini with aircon, radiators in St Anton are important! Use everything you’ve learnt before: You can choose to cater to a particular guest type or all of them but remember to use everything you’ve learnt in other levels! Try out the new zone: The sauna is an all important zone in this one, see your guests relax and enjoy a break after a long day of skiing! Don't forget to check out the reward items you can earn on this map - you might find some cool goodies! We hope you've all started to really get to grips with how your hotels run and we'd love to see some epic hotel builds if you want to share in the screenshots area on steam! We might even run a competition for best build at some point in the near future, so get practising 👀 Also, in case you missed it, hotfix No. 2 is now live so if you've been having some issues with lazy cleaners and low gym ratings, they should be fixed! Hope you all have a great weekend and happy building! - The Hotel Architect Team https://wiredproductions.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/Steam-Button-Remake-v2.pngBye Bye lazy cleaners - Hotfix No. 2 Incoming!May 30, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey again hoteliers! We’ve just rolled out a new update to Hotel Architect with a focus on polish, bug fixes, and quality-of-life improvements. Here’s what’s new: {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/dcaa9e6f85f39d98d29187d949c74c18bac2e6d8.jpg Gameplay Improvements Guests now correctly order bar refreshments (including sandwiches, popcorn, espresso, tea, and ice cream). Special room amenities (mini bar, safe, ironing board, vanity) are now fully functional and used as intended! Cleaners will now mop all tile types as expected - so no more untouched spots or missed tiles! Laundry and litter will no longer be left behind due to pickup issues. Bug Fixes Resolved a lag spike caused by multiple inputs during a paused state. Fixed a bug that could cause traffic jams. Addressed a rare issue preventing save files from loading properly. Corrected localized text overflow in the settings menu. Disabling bedrooms no longer kicks guests out; it simply stops new bookings. Localization Updated several in-game text translations for clarity and accuracy. And that's not all, but we won't bore you with the other bits as they're pretty small! Thank you for continuing to play and we hope you're all enjoying yourselves! Thank you for your continued support as we've started to bring this game to life, and we can't wait to see all your fantastic hotels! - The Hotel Architect TeamServices in Hotel Architect – Construction, Garbage, and Supply!May 16, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHello Hoteliers! This week, we're taking a closer look at the Service Systems in Hotel Architect - your last how-to overview before Early Access launches next week! In our previous post, we covered the various staff roles working within your hotel. But not everything can be handled in-house. Certain tasks require assistance from external services, which are essential for keeping your hotel clean, stocked, and structurally sound. There are three types of services in Hotel Architect. Some operate automatically, while others need to be called in by you at the right time. Let’s take a look: Construction Workers: Building the Foundation You’ll likely become very familiar with this service (or might already be if you joined the playtests!) Construction Workers are responsible for everything related to building and modifying your hotel. Their tasks include: Placing structures like foundations, inner walls, and material sites Installing structure items such as doors, windows, stairs, and elevators Applying custom surface finishes - from wallpaper and paint to wood, tile, and stone Placing furnishings and fixtures throughout hotel zones Performing demolition, whether you’re removing a single object or redesigning entire areas Construction workers need to be called in when you place objects or structures through the build menu. The same applies when changes are needed, simply call them in! This process is covered in detail during the campaign tutorial in Gothenburg, so you can learn as you go! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/bfdaf4378a26b82214ba2560a95bdec0f82994d1.png Garbage Service: Keeping Things Clean Behind the Scenes While less noticable than construction, the Garbage Service is critical to hotel cleanliness! Each in-game day, garbage collectors arrive to empty the dumpsters located around your hotel. However, it’s your hotel cleaners who move trash bags from bins and cans into those dumpsters. If your cleaning team is busy handling beds, dirty floors or other tasks, garbage might not be dealt with promptly. Make sure to balance your staffing to keep things running smoothly! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/654186582f198a21d12315ff9d400126f5a1d179.png Supply Service: Essential for Restocking The Supply Service ensures that your maintenance staff can keep machines and amenities stocked and operational. Supplies are delivered to your hotel and then the maintenance staff will take them to the supply stand in the maintenance workshop. From there, staff can restock vending machines, kitchen fridges, and more. The system runs periodically, but if you’re running low on inventory, it’s worth checking: Whether your supply stand is fully stocked If your staff can reach and distribute items efficiently And whether you might benefit from adding an extra fridge or supply stand in high-traffic areas {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/ea20b591fe087fab03d8cd71dba05d07d16beec1.png Only 4 days left until Hotel Architect launches in Early Access on Steam! We know you're all excited for Early Access in less than 2 weeks, so we're setting you up with even more info on how to be the best hoteliers right off the bat! Today, we’re diving into one of the most essential aspects of running a successful hotel in Hotel Architect: recruiting and managing your staff. Whether it’s receptionists, cleaners, chefs, or bartenders, your team has a direct impact on the quality of your guests’ experience. Hiring the right people and managing them well can be the difference between five stars and utter chaos. Here’s what you need to know. Staff Roles in Hotel Architect As your hotel grows, so does the need for a skilled and balanced team. You’ll need a variety of roles to keep operations running smoothly, including: Receptionists Cleaners Maintenance Chefs Waiters Bartenders And more, coming soon... Each of these positions contributes to different areas of the hotel, so plan things out and keep a close eye on their activities! How to Recruit New Staff To begin hiring, open the Staff tab via the People icon on your main toolbar. From there, you’ll see a list of potential candidates for each role, including their skill level and attributes. If none of the current candidates are a good fit, you can wait for a new set to appear. But be careful, going without key staff for too long can quickly lead to operational meltdowns and unhappy guests. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/4c54884e252b55633f64f360c26d4f11b171b419.png Understanding Skill Levels Every staff member has a skill level that increases as they work. Their initial skill level is influenced by your hotel’s current star rating and any staff-related upgrades you've unlocked in the upgrade tree. Hiring more skilled employees from the start will help your hotel run more efficiently and keep guest satisfaction high. The Importance of Attributes Attributes are unique traits that directly affect how well staff perform their duties. For example: - A Sheet Champion cleaner will fly through laundry - A Charismatic receptionist will instantly put guests at ease Each employee has at least two attributes, and both can influence job performance. A “Key Expert” receptionist might seem ideal until you notice they're also an introvert who doesn't do well around people! On the other hand, some hoteliers may enjoy running a hotel full of eccentric characters, like a juggling waiter with the Show-Off trait or a loud 'Shouter' maintenance person. The choice is yours! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/f3335c2ede8e2e37f43bd429243360812fc7f1e7.png Assigning Tasks Once your staff is hired, you can assign them to specific tasks to optimize their efficiency. This is particularly important in busier hotels where managing workflows becomes more complex. Experience Matters Your staff’s experience level will impact your hotel’s critic ratings - just as it would in real-life hospitality. If an employee is slacking, it’s worth scouting for a replacement before terminating their contract. Fi...Introducing Hotel Architect Location No. 3: Paris!May 2, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsAfter the sun-drenched cliffs of Santorini and the coastal charm of Gothenburg, it’s time to step into the elegance and grandeur of the City of Light - Paris! Revealed as the third playable location, this iconic European capital brings a twist to the gameplay: this time, you're starting with a hotel but it's in desperate need of some serious love and care. You may have already tried this map out in the playtest but for those you missed it, this is the blog to get the lowdown on it! Paris introduces new zones, the spa and conference room, polished mechanics, and five fully buildable floors of Parisian hospitality. Unlike the serene sprawling map in Santorini or the structured city plot in Gothenburg, Paris starts with you into the middle of a pre-existing hotel that’s seen better days. Think peeling wallpaper, dirty floors and outdated décor. Your mission? Turn this tired old landmark into a luxurious destination worthy of five stars and glowing reviews. But that’s easier said than done. You'll need to renovate, reorganize, and possibly rethink everything. from the lobby to the penthouse suite of an upper crust guest's dreams... and all while keeping the business afloat and managing demanding guests! Paris features: 5 Floors Paris brings a whole new dimension, literally. This is the first location in Hotel Architect to span five floors, however you have less space per floor than Santorini so you'll need to get inventive with layouts. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/d1c40403bb71fdc51539033f69877830ac6401d4.png New Zones The new zones in the Paris scenario are the conference room and the spa. Once you've completed the scenario in Paris, you can then take both zones back to the previous two locations. In order to achieve that all important 5 star rating, you must have a Spa in your hotel, so those 5 star rewards are now within reach! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/414a8ce37524d161df35a3a9cd88719d18c13c33.png New Guest types The Upper Crust and Business People are fond of Paris and while they booked your hotel as their place to stay, they aren't going to let you slack on any of their demands. Upper Crust rooms in particular, have to be quite large, so fitting them into the floor plan of Paris efficiently can be quite tricky. You'll need to be inventive while making sure that you have everything to maintain that 5 star rating once you've achieved it. The business people while they don't require 5 star luxury, they still have their own requirements including the conference room so they can work while they stay! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/0dbfc5c48feaf2edc1ac15aca284f8e67893c24d.png Renovation won’t be easy, and each upgrade affects your hotel’s operational flow, guest satisfaction, and your ability to earn five-star reviews. But the reward? Seeing a forgotten Parisian hotel come back to life under your vision. We’ve got something a bit different for you today, the newest Hotel Architect feature: the Character Creator! We've rolled it out so you can try it in the final playtest and it gives you the chance to customize your game, or your friends just a little bit more! Create Your Own Characters With the new Character Creator, you can now design and add your very own: Guests Staff Members Service Workers Whether you’re dreaming up a laid-back beachgoer, an overly intense front desk manager, or a chef who may by slightly too flaboyant, it’s all possible! You’ll be able to customize: Appearance (from stylish to straight-up chaotic) Outfits and accessories Names, voice and even a few behavioral quirks Want to immortalize your best friend as the perfectionist waiter? Go ahead. Give your favourite celebrity a job at Reception? They're hired! This is your hotel, after all. Share & Import Characters With Friends Here’s where it gets really fun: every character you create comes with a shareable code. That means you can send your most iconic creations to friends, and they can import them right into their own hotels. Imagine a whole group of players all being bugged by the same Upper Crust guest named “Sharon” who just won’t stop complaining about her room temperature. We can’t wait to see the incredible hotels you’ll create. — The Hotel Architect Team Zone Focus: Spa & Conference RoomApr 18, 2025 - Community AnnouncementsHey Hoteliers! This week we’re giving you a sneak peek at not one, but TWO brand-new zones coming to the final playtest, which is less than 7 days away! Say hello to the Conference Room and the Spa Zones. These additions are designed to appeal to two very distinct (and higher-paying) guest types: Business People and The Upper Crust. Although, honestly, every guest could use a little productivity or pampering from time to time. Let’s take a closer look at how these zones work, what they unlock, and why they’ll be game-changers for your hotel designs! The Conference Room Looking to impress the suit-and-tie crowd? The Conference Room is your go-to space for attracting Business People, the guests who are all about productivity, efficiency, and polished professionalism. While the Conference Room won’t push your critic score past 3 stars, it plays a vital role in drawing Business People to your hotel. These guests aren’t just looking for a place to sleep. they want a place to work. Expect to see them taking conference calls on their laptops, gesturing passionately at whiteboards, and generally doing all sorts of “important business-y things.” Cool tip: Business People pay more per night than your average Backpacker or Sporty guest. They’re a great step up in terms of revenue so alongside sunbathers, you’ll want to bring them to your hotel! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/a4b562436d814f11702684c8e6f72ac5283d43e0.png The Spa If you’re aiming for a more luxurious, high-end hotel experience, the Spa is an absolute must. This is where your hotel goes from just simply nice to five-star fabulous. And here’s the kicker: if you want to attract Upper Crust guests, a Spa isn’t optional, it’s essential! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/d652b73c18c114ca6502684b2d4a06911e5bf2db.png The Upper Crust are the most elite (and picky) guest type in Hotel Architect. They’ll only stay at hotels rated 5 stars by critics, and one of the key requirements to hit that top rating is, you guessed it, a Spa. The Spa offers guests a full suite of relaxation options, including: Hot tubs Mud baths Massage chairs And more! The It’s not just the Upper Crust that will use the Spa though, it is for all your guests to enjoy and it proves to be quite a popular attraction, particularly if you add a tanning bed for those Sunbathers so they don’t require the sunny weather to worship those rays! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/8d5af7d47bccca938bda469b0efe37a100d80af6.png We hope you're all ready for the last playtest - it's going to be a blast seeing you build in Paris! If you haven't signed up yet, you have until April 23rd to do so and we'll send your codes to you via email, if not you'll have to head to our steam page on the 24th to request access. Today we’re focusing on your demanding guests and what they really want from your hotel. It doesn't really matter whether you’re building your first cozy inn or your 50th ultra-optimized guest haven, either way, understanding your clientele is the key to building a thriving hotel empire. Now before we start, we do have a short video on this that you can watch if you’d prefer but it doesn’t go into the nitty gritty like the blog! Meet Your Guests In Hotel Architect, there are six unique guest types: Backpackers Sporties Sunbathers Brats Business People The Upper Crust Each group has its own personality, preferences, and must-haves. To check out what each type likes (and what they absolutely require), click on the People icon in your toolbar and head over to the Guests tab in game. You'll see a list of their required amenities, and their preferences that marked with green thumbs-up icons. The table below shows the absolute requirements a guest must have to come and visit (subject to change!): {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/4be3f716d2e75caf5e94c9c5876fd6175623f4eb.jpg Guest Type At first when playing, you might find yourself a bit stuck because you still can’t seem to get a certain guest type in your hotel. There could be so many different reasons for this, but it’s best to go step by step through what each guest wants and needs as a process of elimination. If you’re struggling to hit a star rating, for example, Sunbathers require 3 star hotel, then that is your first point of call! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/ecbef4c5772c132af0a0c051fb8a51d37210e4b0.png Why Star Ratings Matter! ⭐ Star ratings in Hotel Architect are everything. They’re the gatekeepers for which guest types even consider staying at your hotel. For example, Brats won’t even consider staying at your hotel unless it’s got a 4 star rating! In order to unlock each star rating, there is a facility your hotel much have: 1 Star: Bathroom and laundry room + 100p 2 stars: A gym + 200p (plus previous star requirements) 3 stars: A Restaurant + 300p (plus previous star requirements) 4 stars: A Bar + 400p (plus previous star requirements) 5 Stars: A Spa + 500p (plus previous star requirements) Slapping up a couple of paintings won’t cut it; these guests want quality and all the facilities - so make it happen hotelier! Remember your critic score can only go up by one star per visit, so 5 stars won’t simply happen overnight! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/40373120/6c9e1933351fd16f7a83d4daf8e037c0a62cd9ca.png Build Smart, One Guest at a Time The best strategy? Start simple. Choose one guest type to focus on. Meet their minimum requirements, especially room setups and star level. Layer in the amenities they love to maximize satisfaction. Once that group is thriving, you can start expanding your appeal. Want to host both Sporties and Brats? No problem = just make sure your hotel has both a gym and a bar.
