Patch 1.000.303May 8, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsOverview For this mini patch, we have made improvements and changes to the following areas: Crash fixes Fixes Crashes Fix for common crash related to damage over time use Fix for very common crash related to hot joining quickplay session that become full This unfortunately means that hot joining players won't show up in the recent players list until they drop down to the planet, or not at all if they leave from the loadout. Known Issues These are issues that were either introduced by this patch and are being worked on, or are from a previous version and have not yet been fixed. Players may not have the option to send, accept or decline friend requests. Blocked players are not added to the Blocked Players list and are not prevented from joining games. Reinforcement may not be available for some players who join a game in progress. Helldiver may be unable to stand up from crouching when surrounded by enemies. Game may crash if the player changes the text language while on a mission. Players may experience delays in Medals and Super Credits payouts. Enemies that bleed out do not progress Personal Orders and Eradicate missions. Arc weapons sometimes behave inconsistently and sometimes misfire. Spear’s targeting is inconsistent, making it hard to lock-on to larger enemies. Stratagem beam might attach itself to an enemy but it will deploy to its original location. Explosions do not break your limbs (except for when you fly into a rock). Area around Automaton Detector Tower makes blue stratagems such as the Hellbomb bounce and be repelled when trying to call them down close to the tower. Planet liberation reaches 100% at the end of every Defend mission. Some weapons in the tutorial have missing parts presenting as question marks in some cases. Hot joining players won't show up in the recent players list until they drop down to the planet, or not at all if they leave from the loadout. Increased Gunship hearing range slightly Fixes Gameplay We have fixed issues with the way Damage-over-time effects were being applied. This should fix issues where only the network session owner could apply them, and other cases where they would be applied inconsistently. Firing the Punisher Plasma while wearing a shield backpack no longer damages the Helldiver Fixed issues with some weapon scopes not being aligned in First-Person-View. The sound when stimming no longer plays while being interrupted Major orders with the “Kill task” now track score correctly. Previously it counted the entire squad’s kills once for each player, meaning it would multiply the score by the number of people on the mission; this is now amended. Prior to this walk-back, this decision to re-enable mandatory PlayStation Network account in order to play the PC version of Helldivers 2 led to astronomical levels of negative Steam reviews for the otherwise beloved 3rd person shooter last Friday. While Sony had remained quiet over the weekend, the CEO of Arrowhead (developer of Helldivers 2) was quick and constant with public posts updating fans on the situation. Helldivers 2 remains negatively reviewed on Steam - a black mark that will likely take some time to scrub clean. In addition, this controversy has splashed onto other Arrowhead games, with Helldivers 1 seeing its own share of review bombing. And what of Sony? As a compnay that has been keen to express its desire to expand into the live service space, buying up Bungie and obviously publishing Helldivers 2, it's been a puzzling weekend for those excited about the gaming megacorporation's sensibilities. A blunder like this has without a doubt dulled the shine on its golden goose. It may, for both players and developers thinking of teaming up with Sony, seed doubt on its ability to leave projects in a good place. Earlier this week, Sony made the very controversial announcement that soon all Helldivers 2 PC players would have to link their Steam accounts to a PSN account just to play the game. This has, to put it very lightly, not been received very well. By that I mean, the game is being review bombed on Steam due to the decision, resulting in the game receiving more than 100,000 negative reviews in just a couple of days. That's left it with a recent review rating of mostly negative, and an overall rating of mixed. Well, things are likely about to get even worse, as it seems that the game has outright been pulled from sale in more than 170 countries on Steam. Important to note here is that PSN is currently only available in 69 countries, so there were a lot of concerns that some players would simply no longer be able to play the game. Now, many more just outright won't be able to buy the game, a move that I can only describe as baffling. Obviously, this is something a whole load of PC players - those being the ones affected by this - aren't fans of, hence the aggressive thumbs downing. If you're out of the loop, Sony said in the announcement that it's set to end a "grace period" during which not linking the two accounts was optional due to some technical issues around the game's launch. The new state of play is this: "as of May 6, all new Helldivers 2 players on Steam will be required to connect their Steam account to a PlayStation Network account. Current players on Steam will start to see the mandatory login from May 30 and will be required to have linked a Steam and PlayStation Network account by June 4."
