It depends on how awesome your family is. New update with new weapon skins!Aug 24, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHey all, we've released an update today to address a few issues reported by the community, most notably addressing issues with attempting to join friends from local sessions or from the initial main menu. We've also put in some fixes for those occasional invisible Hoppers (and corrected a few other issues we found along the way) so that they're once again playing fairly. Lastly we've also corrected an issue that would cause inordinately long load times if you happened to have a very large number of friends in your friend's list. Along with these fixes we've added 2 new weapon skins for every weapon in the game. The first is an alternate skin that's unlocked once you hit level 3 with the weapon, and the second is a pure gold skin unlocked on max level. You can swap at any time in the mod UI (kinda hidden in the uppper right portion of the menu) and you can freely mix between the default, alternate, and golden skins per weapon. Enjoy! Lastly we've pushed 4 new weekly missions for everybody to tackle. Keep the feedback coming, thanks!Gunheart on Sale this Week!Aug 9, 2018 - Community Announcementshttps://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29291964/9dbf5f2855293152151d62c94c16e376ada45a0d.gif Can you believe Gunheart has already been out for 2 months? They grow up so fast, and Gunheart has certainly been growing! These are just a few of the features we’ve added to the game since launch: Local Play Mode: Do you believe that true glory is reserved only for those that enter the battlefield alone? Don't want those other pesky bounty hunters bothering you with their "friendship" and "cooperation." Then we've got a mode for you! Horde Mode: Battle 15 increasingly difficult waves of enemies across 3 open battlefields! Enemies get new modifiers to make them even tougher, but tons of loot and money await those who can run the gauntlet! More Gun Mods!: You said, "We love gun mods!" We said, "Okay, here's some more!" Rig Mods!: You said, "We love gun mods!" We said, "Why just guns?" New Movement System: Totally revamped our locomotion system to make navigation as smooth as possible for VR and desktop players. Strafe + Jump + Teleport work together to provide a fluid experience that is unmatched. More Control Options: Click to turn: check. Air control: check. Improved click detection on Vive controllers: check. VR strafe speed slider: check. Inverted mouse option because one guy on Discord asked for it: sure why not? CHECK! Lone Wolf Mode: As if Elite mode wasn't hard enough already, now you've got to do it by yourself. New Customization Options: Now you can customize the color of your rig, and those of you who have managed to max out your rigs get cool new title cards to show off. So to celebrate, Gunheart is 25% off this week! These optimizations should help players with all ranges of CPU - both in improving overall average framerate and also removing many of the notable hitches throughout normal play. There are also a few critical bug fixes and minor improvements included, check out the list below: Huge(!!) amount of optimizations to improve CPU performance for both local and online play Improve detection of click to turn on Vive controllers to avoid conflicts with jump activation Fix issues related to AI recovering from ragdoll sometimes entering an invulnerable state Visions mod will now also highlight incoming Broodmasters Insights mod now also shows damage applied to Broodmasters and the Buzzbags Improved visibility of the round-up kiosk for night missions Auto-aim check distance reduced from 15000 to 7500 Let us know if you encounter any issues with the update either in the forums or on the official discord. Happy hunting everybody!July update is here!Jul 20, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWe've released another free content update to Gunheart today. It's the usual mix of new features, quality bug fixes, some optimizations... and of course some more mods to play with! Check out the video for a summary from Hunter or dig into the bullet points below for the nitty-gritty. https://youtu.be/dnMNl9XYxdU Features + Tweaks + Bug Fixes! Local play! You now have the option on startup to play locally using the same shared profile as when you're playing online with others Golden skins have been added for players with waaaaay to much earned cash to spend Prestige system added which enabled further leveling past the level 25 cap with extra ways to distinguish your bounty hunter prowess in-game New mutator 'Mayhem': when available in missions will force equip players with akimbo chainguns Lone Wolf: extra life cannisters are now replaced with extra loot cannisters Addressed several issues with death discs that were causing them to have inconsistent ranges and behavior Players can no longer use foam hands to surf into the sky Death screen is now smarter about facing the player regardless of camera angle, and also handles being embedded in geometry better Clear the buzzbags objective sometimes weren't cancelling reinforcements, causing further rooms to not function correctly Infestation objectives reworked so that clearing the egg sacks is instrumental to completing the objective Numerous issues related to AI physics have been resolved, reducing the frequencies of AI snapping back or sliding after being launched/knocked over Solo score leaderboard added to the shooting range for players in addition to the existin group score leaderboard Dhinos have been updated to work more in-line with intended design and fix many of the sliding/popping issues commonly present before Anthromite cloaking ability has been fixed, expect to see them in weekly missions along with the end waves of Horde Several optimizations have been added to reduce the CPU overhead with large amounts of projectiles and enemies. Each mission has custom modifiers and objectives to make the experience more challenging than most campaign missions, so jump on in and let us know what you think. We're also working on the next patch for Gunheart and wanted to preview some of the changes: Local Play Option While we already support the option to play privately to avoid strangers jumping into your missions, we've heard from the community that many players would like an option to not play on our dedicated servers at all. To that end we've been working on a local play option that will allow you to play through all missions in the game, unlock all the mods and whatnot, but still using the same profile that you'd use in online play. This mode is entirely solo, so no option for local co-op (yet!), and is a great way to play the game without any worries of latency whatsoever. You'll still need to be online to update your profile and receive mission data from our master server, but the entire game instance will be running locally. And at any point you can jump back online with your servers to show off the latest, invite a friend for some co-op, or maybe even dive into some PVP action. Prestige Upgrades For players who reach the level 25 cap there isn't much more to dump their hard earned cash into - but with the new prestige system they'll be able to boost their Rig power even further while also unlocking special cosmetics to show off their prowess even more. Look in the PalCo upgrades section to see the new Prestige option which is only available once you've reached the level cap. More mods! More skins! Rig mods have unlocked a ton of fun gameplay with Gunheart and we're going to add some more goodies. We're also plugging in some more cosmetic options, including a skin swap option for those money hats out there looking to spend some PalCo bucks. Rumor also has it that there's a couple more weapon mods to be discovered soon... The hotfix should be available for testing sometime late next week, and we're hoping to release it to the live servers shortly after. Thank you for all the support, and please keep sending us your feedback either in the forums or on discord.June update is live! Video Version!Jun 29, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWant to learn about the June update without a bunch of words getting in your way? Then watch this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oE1dSki4mUE&feature=youtu.be June update is live!Jun 29, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsOur first update since the 1.0 launch is now live! We've focused on a mix of new features/content along with tons of improvements and bug fixes based on community feedback. Here are some of the top things to look for in this month's update and you can find more details by joining us on discord New features Horde mode: Battle through three different rooms, each with five increasingly difficult waves of Anthromites. Enjoy dying at the hands of enemies imbued with extra damage and other fun mutators (that stack!). If you manage to get through the gauntlet there will of course be some sweet loot waiting on the other side. Like everything in Gunheart, bring some friends along for extra fun (and because you’ll want someone to revive you). Rig paint jobs: In addition to customizing hats and faces, you can now customize your rig color. We went full on automaker with this once and came up with names for color combinations that make almost no sense. My favorite colors right now are Nacho and Hawk. Hey, while you’re over there getting a new coat of paint, you might as well throw on a few … Rig mods: That's right. Mods aren’t just for guns anymore! We took our ever-popular gun mod system and made a new version specifically for your rig. Now you can upgrade your robot body with increased air control, projectile slowing, AOE damage on shield break, and some other crazy stuff that gets even crazier with each new tier you unlock. New movement system: We’ve completely revamped the way strafing works in Gunheart. There are now a lot more areas that can be walked on, a lot less areas where you can get stuck, and a lot more control while you’re in the air (try one of the rig mods for even more control). PVP updates: New PVP-specific health system. Armor and shield pickups are now scattered around the PVP maps. Grab them with full health for an overshield! We’ve made a balance pass on the weapons. Most notable change was a nerf to the pistols who were a bit too effective at killing folks across the map. The carbines got a little love and a buff to go with the love. Full-auto mods will now negatively impact damage a little more than they did before. New enemy behaviors: Enemies will now spawn a little closer to you so they’ll be more likely to hunt you down instead of the other way around. Buzzkills will now eventually go crazy and dive bomb you! Ridgeback projectiles now leave behind noxious fumes so you’ll want to stay clear of those. Zombugs are tougher, but removing their limbs will help take them down. Lone Wolf mode: “Elite mode is too easy!” Okay, so pretty much no one has actually said that, but we’re doing this anyway. Take elite mode, make the enemies tougher, don’t let friends join, and you’ve got lone wolf mode. Enjoy, sadists. Oh, you’ll need to 3 star a mission before you see this pop up as an option. Thank you! We appreciate all the feedback and suggestions for the game - please keep it coming! There's more we have planned for Gunheart in the coming mon...Preview the June Update Now!Jun 22, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHey y’all, We are excited to bring our first post-launch content update to all Gunheart players at the end of this month! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29291964/4d43806773e4f762aff8d6f4f83eb3a16f739adc.png There will be a ton of new content in this one. Take a look below to see some of it. Plus, if you hop into the alphastaging build of the game today, you’ll be able to check out a lot of these features before the full update is released next week! Not sure how to join alphastaging? It’s easy! Go to your Steam library and right click on Gunheart. It’s the game you play the most so it should be easy to find. Select Properties down at the bottom there Go to the Betas tab even if you personally are an alpha In that first dropdown, choose alphastaging. Play the alphastaging build and check out cool new stuff before all your friends. Potentially find that one of the guns or features is way overpowered. Message me personally so that I may use it against my coworkers before Ray fixes it. Discord is a great place to tell me about this kind of stuff. Note: alphastaging is its own separate build of the game, so your profile in alphastaging is separate from the one in public. This means all the guns and loot you earn in one will not go to the other. Alphastaging is great for hoping in to test out new features, but you’ll want to do most of your Gunhearting in public. What were we talking about? Oh yeah. New stuff. Here’s some of it: Rig Mods Mods aren’t just for guns anymore! Rig mods give you awesome new abilities, and like gun mods, there are multiple tiers from common to ultra. I’ve got to tell ya, some of these ultra rig mods are just ridiculous. Movement overhaul We’ve changed the core player movement to get rid of all snags so you can now freely move about everywhere in the world. We’ve also boosted air control to give you more opportunity to finesse those tricky jumps. Horde Mode! Lone Wolf difficulty You’ll need to get 3 stars on a mission for this to pop up as an option. PVP updates! New weapon balances (shoot people across the map with the pistol while you still can). New health system for PVP including pickups for additional armor and shields. Rig paint jobs! Lots more! New weekly missions!Jun 15, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsFour new weekly missions now available for everyone! We've added Liquid Space Fine, Harvest, Extreme Marksmanship, and A Little Irritating to the Job Goblin to mix up your bounty hunting! Weekly missions combine various mutators and modifications to offer up challenges outside of the campaign missions, so jump in and let us know what you think.VR FPS Gunheart launches, headset no longer mandatoryJun 7, 2018 - Rock, Paper, ShotgunBeing a whole new frontier in games, I’ve been eager to pick up a VR headset, but still can’t quite justify the price. Of the games I put on my day-1 wishlist for when I got myself some space-goggles, Gunheart ranks pretty high. It’s a very slick-looking online co-op FPS with a sci-fi mercenary RPG-lite structure. It’s been in early access for a year, but launched in full this week, and while the game is still built for VR, it’s no longer mandatory, so mouse & keyboard-using folks are free to join in. (more…) 6/6/2018 Hotfix releasedJun 5, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsWe've pushed a small hotfix this morning, below are the changes included in this build. Load time improvements (currently seeing reductions in load times by 50%+) Fix for intermittent hitches in mission related to navigation data rebuilding Fix for hoppers occasionally leaping to their demise (as entertaining as it is) Fix for inconsistent spawning of enemies in certain missions Fix some shadowing and popping issues with the end of mission rewards kiosk Update shotgun pellet collision settings so that it no longer affects teleport and visibility checks Increased base population of boomfruits and made them invulnerable to explosion from other boomfruits Fix for shooting range return teleporter sometimes breaking if attempting to teleport away during the normal process Ensure weapon pickup sounds are always played when walking over a pickup, even if already acquired Fix players sometimes spawning carbines incorrectly when first starting into Brainspace Swap 'rhino rounds' for burst fire on pistols in PVP Show other players' titles and levels in the quick menu when in Bent Horizon Fix rematch dropping players to logo screen after PVP Gunheart 1.0!Jun 4, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsIt's finally here! Our biggest update yet is now live for everyone and marks the official end of the Early Access period. Here's a quick summary for some of the improvements you'll find with this version of the game: Boost jump is here! We've added a double jump ability for all players which is enabled by default for PC players and can be toggled for VR players in the control menu. Navigate the battlefield like never before by weaving jump and teleport, making it incredibly fluid to move around the environments. PC cross-play with VR is officially supported! With Gunheart 1.0 we're officially supporting playing the game either in classic desktop mode or in full VR. At any time you can jump into games with other players with any other platform, and if you choose to upgrade from desktop to VR you'll have all your unlocks and progress always available. Brainspace introduction & tutorial! New players will be introduced to the Gunheart universe via PalCo's Brainspace interface. Here you'll learn the basics of controlling your rig before you're sent off into your first job on Planet Fortune. Watch out for those bugs! New VO and music tracks! We've recorded hundreds of new lines of dialogue to add clarity and extra backstory as you journey through the campaign. Several new music tracks have been introduced to various missions as well to make your bounty hunting adventure even more exciting. Lobby/region select now available on startup, giving you the option to join directly into your friend's games or to pick another Bent Horizon to meet up with other players. You can also opt out of this to directly auto-connect to the lowest ping region. PalCo rig interface has been updated to make it easier to manage your look and also upgrade your core stats in a single interface. There were also a few cosmetic items that are now possible the unlock that previously were hiding away! Shooting range has been upgraded with a combo scoring system that rewards coordination between multiple bounty hunters when trying to hit the top of the leaderboards. We've also added some more targets and spawning areas so be sure to explore the shooting range on your next visit. Squash all the bugs! We've spent the last 5 weeks solely on fixing bugs and adding polish throughout the game. This is by far the most stable and fun version of the game, and we hope our Early Access fans can appreciate the journey we've taken all the way from last August. That being said we know there are still issues for us to address, so please don't hesitate to let us know when you encounter bugs. You can talk to us directly on Discord or in the Gunheart subreddit. What's next? We'll be paying close attention to feedback to see what issues need to be addressed in the next hotfix. Beyond that we have many new features and ideas we'd love to bring to Gunheart in future updates. Additionally we'll be cranking on the PSVR release for this summer, which of course will bring more polish and performance optimizati...April update is here!Apr 30, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsIt's that time again, time for another big update for Gunheart! Check out this video: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/252520880April Update Sneak Peek – Seeing StarsApr 20, 2018 - Community AnnouncementsHey Drifter fans, I’m Hunter, and I’ve recently had the privilege of joining the team here at Drifter as lead producer. I’ll be helping out with our blog posts and updates until we find someone who is actually qualified. Be sure to stay tuned here for much more frequent updates about all of our projects. Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook are also great ways to keep in touch. Let’s jump right in and give you a sneak peek at some of the content we have planned for our Gunheart April update! https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/29291964/274c253a119afbf6ab9f44c06f88978743b61204.jpg Games are fun, but they’re even more fun when you can prove to your friend that you’re better at it than them. Introducing a way to do that in Gunheart! The Job Goblin is getting a makeover, and as part of that, we’re adding a new three star system. Stars are earned three different ways: complete the job complete the job on Elite mode complete the speedrun Most of you out there should be able to get that first star pretty quickly, but you’ll find Elite mode and the speedrun to be formidable (based on the sobbing we’ve heard coming from the QA department). We’re doing a few other things to make the game more punishing fun for all of you. You’ll find money pumps will be more difficult after the next release, so you better get in there now and take advantage. Soon you’ll have to earn that cash! Oh and hoppers can fly now. Those enemies that have been running around with wings … they’ll use them now to shoot you better. We’ll probably keep calling them hoppers. Considering all the dying you’ll be doing, we updated the death sequence. How can you call your game Gunheart if there isn’t a big, awesome beating heart prominently featured on your death screen? Well you can’t, so we have that now. Last but not least, there is a host of changes coming to PVP this month. We’re updating maps, tuning weapons, adjusting weapon locations, and a bunch of other stuff to make shooting friends and strangers alike more satisfying. This is only the tip of the iceberg for our April update. We’ll do our usual thing and release a video when the update goes live and tell you about all the other cool stuff.
