GHOSTSHIP CHRONICLES - First beta ready for beta testers!Jun 14, 2019 - Community AnnouncementsFor our GHOSTSHIP CHRONICLES Beta Testers! The all new beta is now ready for testing. https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/steamcommunity/public/images/clans/6329500/4beee22c6261389dbaf4f44aebe88a2af0977dab.png We have had a lot of major system changes and improvements since our last alpha a year ago. After a major QA review, the new beta has a host of new features, much more fun and is much more solid than the alpha! What has changed since Alpha? Environment and Graphics Overhaul We have changed most of the environments and have worked on improving lighting, atmosphere and level design. Improved AI AI has been improved and is much more fluid. Team mates (friendly AI) is now all fixed up. New weapons and tools The portable Mini-gun has now been added along with the Tactical Binoculars and some other goodies. All new Inventory System The inventory system has been overhauled. You now have a primary and secondary weapon, other weapons can be put in your back pack, and ammo for weapons you do not have can now be picked up. The new inventory management system is much more intuitive and offers more game-play elements with upgrades and such in story mode.. New content! We have added new content such as onslaught mode, challenge mode and have expanded on simulation mode. Difficulty Levels and Balancing A lot of work has been done on re-balancing player weapons, ammo, etc as well as fully working easy, normal and hard option which now reflects in game. Easy and normal modes now highlight all pickups and each difficulty level will change elements of friendly AI efficiency and enemy AI. Player Shadows We now have improved lighting and player shadows in 1st person which really bolsters the game atmosphere. 3rd Person Mode fixed up All bugs on third person mode have now been fixed up and many improvements have been made. Switching between modes at any time will now be bug free. Sound and Music Thanks to Will D Cruze for our new awesome original Ghostship music, we now have also improved the sounds on weapons, and most other things which help to add to the games atmosphere. Full Game pad support We now have full game support for all in game and menu action. Full customisation is working 100% Many more improvements have been made and the new beta is a new engine version and totally overhaul based on our alpha testers feedback. We look forward to fixing up any issues before testing story mode this summer! We are aiming for a Halloween release, but that may be pushed back due to QA requirements. Have a great time on board the Ghostship everyone and look out for updates with fixes and new content for instant action modes over the coming 2 weeks. Based on feedback the instant action mode was introduced to: *Shorten the game start and intro *No Perma-Death *Gives the player a variety of weapons at start Instant action mode is for those who are new to the game so you can get some quick experience with weapons and different enemies and have no perma death. This mode was to help settle both sides of the camp by keeping the nomral game "story mode" intact for those who wanted a challenge. Instant action mode is a much easier mode which is also random and is basically the same as story mode with only a few achievements. And the Hassle Free DLC gives you the full ship with no enemies or objects for the explorers amoung you. This game as you should know is designed for VR (Virtual reality) and being designed for VR it is slow paced, made for 3d and is very different in the VR version. There is no perma death in this mode but you will not be able to get any of the achievements! This mode enables you to get straight into the action! 20 Achievements ------------------------- We now have a total of 20 achievements in the game and more will be added on the next update. New Enemies -------------------- The new zombies are in the game and are much better, they still have an odd glitch, but are zombies not meant to be stupid? 2 other enemies are in the game and all AI has been refined even more. New Weapon ------------------- The plasma SMG has been added and will offer you much more protection than pistols or the standard laser rifle. Have fun! Fixes & Improvements --------------------------------- There has been a variety of fixes and improvements throughout the game, the lighting being a big one. As many in the community suggested many of the light have now been replaced with a better and slower flickering light system. There have also been some collision fixes and some texture issues fixed. The long engineering start has now been removed entirely and will only feature in the VR version. Trading cards should be up next week for Aftermath! To celebrate this scary occasion we've chosen to treat you so that we don't get tricked, and have included some additional free content in the upcoming patch along with various optimizations and bug fixes. Free Additional Content - Several new enemies - New story branch (missed deadline, will be in next patch) - New weapon - Instant Action Mode - Trading cards - Achievements The trading cards may not make this one, but if not they're coming very very soon, like right after Halloween. It was a tough deadline and the developer's little boy had to have an emergency appendectomy which hurt the workflow and a lot is being done very last minute. His son is doing well though and that's the important part. I won't spoil it and let you find out about the enemies, weapon, and story branch for yourselves ingame but I would like to share more about the Instant Action Mode with you. Your opinions are very important to us and we want to give you the game you want to play, so this mode was created for those of you not liking the permadeath and how long it takes for the game to get going. With Instant Action Mode you start in a random place on the ship with lots of weapons and already on one of the storylines. There is also no permadeath. This will be more akin to other games players are used to. However the achievements are only in the normal story mode. There's a reason they're called an "achievement" and not a "gimme", so no permadeath, no glory. If you don't have the game this is a great time to buy it, and if you do have it buy a few extra copies to drop into those little orange pumpkin buckets for the poor sod waiting out by the road with a torch while his children extort you for candy.
