Update 1.49aApr 19, 2024 - Community AnnouncementsHello everyone! The game was just updated with version 1.49a Building system update I designed building system back in 2019, and it was quite dated and limited because of that. Now, when a scope of project was hugely increased, building system required rework, which would allow for new feature and continous updates. You can now buy several plots of land in the zone and build unique different houses on each plot of land. They are marked on your map. Each plot offers unique farming buildings with unique upgrades. There will be more plots in the future. Ocean beach house - located near mage academy in Gedonia, allows to build a house on water and gather fish Dark tower - located in teh darklands, allows to build building with dark architecture and gives dark power buffs Volflar temple plot. Allows you to build a house in Volflar style, and gives arcane magic bonuses Barbarian house - allows you to build barbarian style house near Korram in Gedonia desert. Allows you to brew unique shaman potions and fight barbarian champions to earn marks of ascendancy Frozen temple house. Located near frozen temple in Northern kingdoms, allows you to earn frozen energy Homing spot rework Running between such amount of houses can be a chore, so I've updated homing stone building in your house. It will now allow you to instantly fast travel between bough land plots, and configure homing location of your homing spot in your inventory Earning bonus furniture Building system rework now allow you to earn bonus furniture in the world. Now occassionally, you will encounter furniture designs lying around. Interacting with them will allow you to build different new cool decoration elements, furniture or buildings Ram fights! Now you can participate in Ram fights in the Northern Kingdom, in the Ironclad fortress, and earn some marks of ascendancy. This was originally planned as one of the side acitivities in the original Northern Kingdoms update, but I wasn't able to implement it at the time. Now it's a simple mini-game, which you can participate in any time. Other changes Improved armor and magic resistance by 33% once again for all heavy armor epic sets, which should hopefully increase survavibility even more Fixed the bug with collision in Maribelle cave Dark knight epic set now gives bonus armor and magic resistance when you use dark pact Thank you for your support! The game was just updated with version 1.41a {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/2fa72959ab906418d046c5bc6e1e53fd559efb75.png This is a fairly small update, which adds a new quest for level 40, set in Ertoron. The main purpose of this update was to fix and rework current King's castle in the city. The castle interior was unfinished for quite awhile. I've started working on it back in 2019, when the game was a lot different, and I had an idea for a particular quest involving king of Ertoron. During development the game was changed so much, that I had to abandon initial plans for it and move on with different idea. Now it's finally finished, and has bigger interior and an actual king sitting in there. You can follow the quest or you cank kill a king and become an outlaw. Other changes: I've rebalanced gameplay for heavy melee endgame sets a little. Now all heavy endgame sets have a little bit more armor, you can actually knockdown heavier enemies and Powerful strike/Whirlwind/Charge dont hinder stamina regeneration after level 50 of your character, which should improve your damage output a lot. Fixed the bug with woman's version of enduring set not looking like a male version Fixed the issue with being stuck on story box quest in Volflar Fields Magic shield now absorbs more damage if your player level is higher (more info in ability tooltip) I've added some loot back to the Darklands bosses. Without it, it felt really unrewarding to kill bosses in Darklands. Now you will be able to get some epic set items from bosses. I am aiming it to be much better than the first game, and it is without the doubt the most ambitious game I've ever attempted to make. It's still very early, and the game is years away from release, but I managed to make a small teaser trailer for the game and a steam page for you to check out. Go there for more info, and Wishlist the game Now, because it would really help me out! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2566340/Gedonia_2/ An answers to some questions about the sequel: Why didn't you just continue expanding on original Gedonia? While the first game still has a lot of potential to explore, there are some issues that prevent me from infinetely evolving it over the years. First one, of course is not being able to add multiplayer, but also some fundamental shortcoming in animation/scripting/stat scaling etc. A lot of these things are baked into the core of the game at the moment, and I could only fix them by remaking the game from scratch. What will the second game be about? With Gedonia 2, I aim to explore Eastern regions of the map, like Esnon, Vubros and Osnein. The game will have completely separate storyline and explore different era of the world. Are you still working on the game alone? No, I am happy to report that I've got some funds from the sales of the original game, and I hired a small tem of artists and writers to help me out! So there will be atleast 6-10 people working on the game in the future. What's next for the first Gedonia Don't worry, I'm not abandoning the current game, in fact, I came up with a roadmap for future releases. I am happy to say that Northern Kingdoms has finally arrived! {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/92fbd36c5d39524f7d67b39c7d6fc3bb9e1969f1.png This is the biggest single update the game has ever received. I've had an idea for it for years, and been actively designing and developing it for 6 monts straight. It's a huge, expansive, gorgeous zone with real feeling of frozen winter. The zone is actually bigger than the whole Gedonia. It's not as dense with content ofcourse, but there are still a lot to do there. The benefit of this is that the draw distance in the zone is much larger than in Gedonia, and the zone looks great. Here is what you should know about it: You can get to it through Gedonia desert, and it requires level 45 to enter The zone is quite difficult, so before going there, you should get the best equipment you can get and farm few expeditions to improve your skills. There are new caves, dungeons, towns, events, quests, enemies and resources. There are a lot of stuff there, you can see all of it through the map. You can build another house at the center of the zone. Reworking epic tier sets I've decided to rework a system of getting epic tier sets. Originally, I had about 10 different sets, all of them were given in Citadel of Evil dungeons, and that was an end of it. Then, after adding more endgame content and more sets, the whole system because kinda janky. Half of playstyles were locked behind random drops, and after you got your set you were basically done with progression. That didn't feel right, so I decided to change it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/31086c206750cd86d85bcce7f6f75470d22d7637.jpg Now, after completing Citadel of Evil and starting Expeditions, you would be able to purchase any epic tier set you want in the specialized Explorers shop. By default, epic sets are weaker, on the same level as Kainite armor. All bosses in endgame dungeons, expeditions and totems from Northern Kingdoms now drop marks of ascendancy, which can improve your armor a few times, making it much much stronger. The anvil for improving epic sets is near runic forge and the shop Tier set bonuses now 2 items/5 items instead of 3 items/5 items. That way you can actually combine two epic sets with different bonuses to further customize your build. There is a lot more sets now, more than 2 dozens actually, and there will be more added in the future Other updates Main: Max level cap is increased and is now 80. Experience requirements after level 50 now also increased. Added character select screen to loading in the main menu All runic effects from runic forge were nerfed. After testing some time I've felt that they become too powerful, and were overshadowing other types of progression. Companions basic dodge chance reduced. Changed voice acting for Wyanna nd Ernest in main story cutscenes, and added voice acting to some secondary quest cutscenes Armor and magic resist calculations were changed. The cap is now 90%, but after some thresholds, armor ...New loot in Northern KingdomsApr 14, 2023 - Community AnnouncementsHey everyone! I wanted to share some details about new epic loot coming in Northern Kingdoms update and give overall more info about it. First of, here is a preview of new environments coming in the update, if you havent seen it yet: Living weapons The biggest part of the new loot are new Living Weapons. The idea behind them is that they evolve over time, by getting experience from killing enemies and completing different challenges. Each weapon has 3 stages, and after evolving to the next stage, it will change it's appearance, improve stats and improve a unique mechanic, that is tied to it. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/db33787ce8cf9f9cd994c18e1935056a93367f42.png There are about two dozens of different weapons, that you will be able to choose from, and they cover most of the playstyles in the game. You will be able to earn your first weapon quite easily, and you will be able to earn additional weapons, by completing challenges in the region. Jewelry sets One thing that was lacking before in epic equipment was jewelry. You had a few epic jewelry pieces as reward for epic faction quests, but that was about it. Now, you will be able to get a bunch of new jewelry sets in Northern Kingdoms. Jewelry set consists of necklace, two rings and a trinket. Unlike armor sets, you will be able to combine different sets. Both of them give 200% dark damage bonus for 2 pieces, one is basically making your skeletons into active damaging ability, by allowing you to spam explosive skeletons who instantly explode, which is really fun. The second one gives you an option to run around with bone serpent all the time, and having a bunch of free mana pool. Or, you can just combine 2 pieces from one set and 2 pieces from another and get +400% dark magic bonus. There are two dozen sets coming with 60 different items, so there will be plenty to choose from. New armor sets Other than that, I've prepared a few new epic tiers, that give even more options for different playstyles, things like frost mage, stealth archer, archer with companions, spear-oriented warrior etc. {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/fd4f721167bbd152366655e72ddc10b2c51965fd.png How would you be able to get all this cool stuff? All over the Northern Kingdoms there will be different challenges that will reward you with this stuff. I'm not sure now long it will take to finish, cause there is a lot of stuff I want to add in this update. I have a few cool ideas for new dungeons, bosses, quests and activities to add, not even mentioning amount of level design that needs to be done. I think at the end of the spring I will be able to start some beta testing for it, and we will see how it goes from there. Anyway, I wanted to share some progress that me and my 3d modeller managed to accomplish in these past few weeks. The game was updated with version 1.2 Bard skill tree {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/7e21b4e3b615183a60abd44702effa7962b1b362.png New, full skill tree was added to roleplay as a fantasy bard archetype. I always liked that archetype in fantasy, and I felt that it's quite rare and underrepresented in most games. This skill tree will allow you to additionally buff your companions and yourself, and give a couple of useful combat abilities aswell. It also solves the problem of companion playstyle being quite passive, because before you had to mostly wait around, while your companions did all the work. I've also added new ability for speech tree called regroup. It's similar to Shift+V combination on keyboard, but also will heal your companions. Maestro's tomb New dungeon was added, called Maestro's tomb. You can find it on the border of endless fields and enchanted forest zones. It's for higher level bard players, so entering it will require using some bard abilities, and it reward you with 2 new epic sets, specifically made for bards. It also has a small story going through it, about a famous bard called Maestro, and his sad fate. Fishing {STEAM_CLAN_IMAGE}/35471287/d21f71766c8018518bc1128620f235c50e7d5ec4.png Fishing was one of the most requested features for the game since day one, and I never got enough time to implement it. Now it's finally here. You can buy fishing pole from food merchants in first three zones, and start fishing wherever you want. I've added a bunch of fishing spots that will improve your catch, you can buy/craft and apply different lures, and there a couple of new recipes for cool new items in cooking, specifically made from fish. In future I want to possible tie a couple of achievements with fishing. Hope you all have fun with it.
