Visual and Graphical Bugs Chapter 4 - Battle with Abigail Fixed an issue where the trail of certain projectiles appeared in the wrong position. Fixed a texture error with the summoned Gift Box creature. Chapter 5 Fixed an issue in Fiena’s room where Chloe would freeze after her dialogue ended. Relic Bugs and Buffs Smiling Ouija Board Fixed an issue where the damage boost effect was not being applied. Moonflower Previously, the tooltip stated the cooldown reduction was 8%, but the actual effect was 15%. Now, the tooltip reflects the correct value, and the cooldown reduction has been increased to 16%. Jewel Scarab Previously, the tooltip stated damage was increased by 10%, but the actual effect was 15%. Now, the tooltip reflects the correct value, and the damage boost has been increased to 20%. Crawling Collector Fixed a bug where the dice-gaining effect on room transition could be repeatedly triggered via saving and reloading the game. Localization Errors and Game Optimization Adjusted various texts and fixed display errors. Optimized various effects and shaders. First of all, we’d like to thank you for supporting and playing Garden of Witches’ Early Access release. Your many comments, reviews, and words of encouragement have been a tremendous source of strength for us. Since the Early Access launch last week, we have been fixing critical bugs based on your feedback while also carefully reviewing every piece of feedback you have given us. There’s a lot to take in, but we’ve had extensive discussions about how to improve the game and the direction of our future updates. Today, we’d like to share a brief summary of all the patches we’ve done during the past week as well as some of the feedback and issues we have collected. Then, we’ll talk about the upcoming updates we have planned. Patch Notes 0.5.0_b102 As a rule, we usually share patch notes via announcements whenever there is an update to our game. However, due to the urgency of some bugs, we rolled out a few updates in advance. We apologize for the delay in sharing the patch notes, but in the future, we will make sure to announce patch notes in a timely manner. Here are fixes included in this update: Fixed an issue where sound effects would not play after the ending of the final chapter. Fixed an issue where players could acquire more than four scissor attributes under certain conditions. Fixed an issue where after obtaining the Cracked Swan Doll relic, tags removed by choosing the Crying Ouija Board could still appear as selectable attributes with the Sewing Kit relic. Fixed an issue with the endgame content score tracker where the most recent score was displayed instead of the highest score. Fixed an issue in Chapter 1 where rewatching the ending scene would result in only being able to fast-forward the cutscene instead of allowing the player to skip it. Fixed an issue where if the player moved to another chapter before clearing Chapter 5 and then cleared that other chapter, then they would not be able to return to the chapter they were originally on. Known Issues The following issues have been confirmed and reproduced by the dev team, but they require additional time to resolve. We are doing our best to identify the causes and to fix them as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience in the meantime. Some relics do not function according to the values in their descriptions. The mouse cursor does not disappear during gameplay under certain conditions. There are long loading times when entering a combat zone for the first time after launching the game. FPS drops during some boss fights, especially with Nahatra (including the second phase). We have identified some optimization-related issues and are currently working on them. We plan on releasing a public beta build to test these fixes, so we would greatly appreciate your participation! Players occasionally get stuck in walls when using the Ambush skill. While the story remains unchanged, several systems, UI elements, combat mechanics, and more have been updated to better align with the upcoming Early Access version. For example, the two bosses in the demo will now have only one phase instead of two, and their HP has been scaled to match the difficulty. The damage of boss patterns has also been adjusted to be different depending on the type. Players familiar with the original demo may find this version easier. We’d like to start this announcement by expressing our gratitude. We sincerely appreciate everyone who has played our demo and shared their valuable feedback. Previously, we announced that the demo would be taken down. However, instead of shutting it down, we have decided to update and maintain it! For this upcoming update, we have implemented new systems and difficulty adjustments that we were planning on releasing for the Early Access version, but the playable content of the demo will remain the same. Only the early portion of the game will be playable. Demo Period & Key Changes Playable Content: Just like the previous demo, players can only progress up to the second boss. Operational Period: The demo will remain available until the game’s Early Access launch. After that, it will be discontinued. Update Details: We have improved various systems and made sound and visual enhancements. Important Notes Save data from the previous demo version will be reset. It’s hard to believe December is almost upon us. We’ve been so immersed in development that we didn’t notice how Christmas carols have already crept into the streets. We know you’ve been eagerly waiting for us to give further updates, so before the year ends, we wanted to share our current plans with you. Early Access We have been carefully reviewing all the feedback you have given us from the demo, and we are currently developing the Early Access version. Our target release date for the Steam Early Access is May 2025. The demo version of the game you played only had two bosses and was only a part of Chapter 1. The Steam Early Access version will expand the game with three more bosses and complete the game’s story with four additional chapters (total of five story chapters). In each chapter, you will face the same bosses, but their attack patterns will change and the overall difficulty of each stage will increase. On top of that, each chapter will introduce new systems for you to strengthen Sil, so we hope you will enjoy experimenting with different builds and find strategies to defeat the increasingly challenging bosses. Below is a detailed outline of our roadmap leading up to our Steam Early Access in May. Roadmap Taipei Game Show Participation (January 2025) For the Taipei Game Show, we will have an updated demo that includes all of Chapter 1. We would like to send our sincere gratitude to everyone who played the demo version (v0.3.8) of Garden of Witches. We are currently receiving a lot of feedback and are carefully reading through all of it. While some changes can be implemented quickly, and others may take longer, we aim to update the aspects that can be addressed first before Steam's Next Fest begins. #Improvements to Early Stages of Gameplay It seems that more attempts than expected are required to defeat the first boss. Even after understanding the boss's patterns, the high cost of upgrading movement speed and scissors attack speed seems to demand excessive retries. Additionally, the first area has more general combat sections compared to the second area, which may cause the players to feel tedious. As a result, we plan to implement the following changes: - Reduce the cost and number of stages for upgrading movement speed, scissors attack speed, and dash recharge count - Shorten the general combat section leading to the first boss by one stage. #Skill Balance Internally, we believe the overall skill balance is fairly good. However, since not all systems are revealed in the demo version, it might appear somewhat unbalanced. Particularly, magic skills with utility effects still deal similar damage when compared to pure offensive spells. However, we anticipate this will change with the systems introduced after the full release, potentially reversing the performance and providing new experiences as mechanics evolve. For now, we will focus on improving the usability and tooltips of the skills in the demo version, and we welcome further feedback. #Boss Battle Difficulty The boss battle difficulty in the demo was set at a maximum level, which is barely clearable by experienced players without upgrades. As a result, those who are new to this game genre or boss pattern mechanics may find it somewhat difficult. However, most players seem to clear the boss without major issues after becoming familiar with the patterns and upgrading a few key abilities. Therefore, we plan to maintain the current difficulty for boss battles in this demo. In the full release, there may be options such as adding difficulty settings or adjusting phases depending on the overall length of combat. #UI, UX For players new to the game, we will work on reducing the amount of excessive information or addressing areas where information is lacking. Additionally, we aim to make any difficult-to-understand explanations more intuitive.
