You can also view the contents of each pack. You will no longer have duplicate character formats installed (you need to install the pack upgrades for that). New grid export option: The export window now directly gives you the option to export each character sheet into a larger image, in a grid pattern. In addition, the export window preconfigures each character sheet so they are exported properly for RPG Maker (only newly created characters can benefit from this feature). For instance, RPG Maker walk and face sheets will be exported in a 4x2 grid by default. All GCH resource packs have been updated to support this new feature. If you don't want it, you can still disable this feature with a single click. RPG Maker MZ generator parts are now shipped with GCH, and no longer require the semi-automated import. Please consider the terms of use for this asset as reminded below. Improvements GCH now warns you if you attempt to close a character while GCH is still exporting its sheets to PNG files in the background. This used to freeze the UI, which is no longer the case. Bug fixes Fixed a bunch of issues that happened when reordering character sheets . Technical notes Improved log system. What is logged and where can now be controlled with environment variables. About RPG Maker generator parts We remind you the terms of use for each RPG Maker asset: You need to own the corresponding RPG Maker. In practice, it efficiently recolors the white parts of an item. ’Export under different hues' can use the color multiply technique. Can now customize a pre-built set of shapes, which can then be drawn like any other. Improvements: The 'export to png' window has a new simplified view, with prefilled fields. We hope you are all doing fine :) In any case, we hope to cheer you up with good news: GCH 3.9 will bring support for RPG Maker MZ! This is a manual operation you need to do, GCH 3.9 cannot ship RPG Maker MZ parts just yet. Don't worry though, the import is pretty straight-forward :) ! Beware, you will only be able to import RPG Maker MZ assets that are installed on your machine (so you need to own RPG Maker MZ). This, unfortunately, means that Debian / Ubuntu users won't benefit from RPG Maker MZ assets as it is not available on this platform. When will it be released? Like GCH 3.8, this update is a cooperative effort with people from Degica. Some RPG Maker MZ files need to be fixed before the release of GCH 3.9. You need to wait at most a few more weeks. Is it a free upgrade? GCH 3.9 is a regular GCH update. So yes, you will be able to upgrade from any GCH:PE version for free. Other features Along with RPG Maker MZ support, GCH 3.9 will mainly bring support for larger sprites with the ability to zoom out more (from 100% zoom to 5%). Other small bug fixes are also included. This release contains a bunch of important features, as well as some improvements and bug fixes. The main new feature is a new tool delivered along with GCH, called gch-import-mv-dlc. As it is stated by its name, this program is able to scan your RPG Maker MV installation and create GCH generator parts out of it! To use this new tool simply launch GCH and go to "File > Import resources..." and click on "Import RPG Maker MV DLC(s)" button on the window that popped up. Beware though: Only RPG Maker MV Kids generator parts are currently supported by this tool. New generator parts will arrive in a future minor update. Here is the complete changelog: New features: GCH provides a new tool to easily import RPG Maker MV DLCs (the list of supported DLCs will grow over time). GCH provides a new user-friendly way to import custom resources. Go to "File > Import resources..." to check it out! GCH character generator now allows you to tune the frequency of each item color variation. As a result, characters with unusual skin and hair color are generated much more rarely. GCH can now open files whose format does not appear clearly in their filename (i.e. does not end with ".png" or ".gpf", etc...). The program makes a first read of the file to deduce the format and then reads the file normally. Improvements: Improved character generator UI. Improved item library indexing speed. "View > Show Grid" now affects every document, not just the active spritesheet. gchlib dump command now accepts an "-o" option to redirect the command output to a file. gchlib exec command now accepts a "-continue-on-failure" option. gchlib now forbids to have two references pointing to the same file. Bug fixes: Fixed the fact that the active sheet would change when adding an item from the library. Selected animation in animation player will no longer be reset when changing current spritesheet.
